So, I had a thought while in the shower, specifically about lawyer Barbie from the Barbie movie. When we meet her in the beginning montage of all the main Barbies in Barbieland, she is in the middle of a trial. But what the heck gets brought to trial there!?!?

The greatest sin of Barbieland as presented in the movie is the utter lack of attention the Kens get; which is, of course, Bad, but not A LITERAL CRIME?!?!

They have a Supreme Court there and presumably a whole legal system but WHAT DOES IT DO???? What’s a crime in Barbieland? What does President Barbie sign into law??

I just have questions man.

My favorite scene in the Barbie movie is one that not many people are talking about. It’s the dance scene and for one and one reason only Lawyer Barbie. It’s never really spoken aloud in Barbieland that all the Barbies have somewhat different body shapes and look different. It just is a fact of their life and that’s great in and of itself. But as a bigger girl myself it was really amazing to see Lawyer Barbie not only apart of the big choreographed dance but also wearing a sparkly gold jumpsuit at the same time. Even the most well meaning body positive media tends to dress and keep their larger characters subdued or in the background but not this time. Seeing someone my size dressed fabulously in a way that didn’t hide her shape but enhanced it (in a very bright color) will forever be my favorite moment of the movie. It was a few seconds, but it meant the world to me.

I listened to Megan thee Stallions new song where she said like “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law”

And apparently that’s a law for s*x offenders where they have to register when they move to a new place? Is that the truth?

I’m in shock bc Nicki Minaj’s husband is apparently a s*x offender and was sentenced to a year of house arrest for failing to register at his new address after moving with Nicki to California😖

But like what more does the Megan Law entail?

Okay so as most people most likely already know, I am not American or living in america so I am not familiar with american laws in-depth. I know about international law (as the ICC and UN etc) because international law covers all countries, otherwise I primarily know the law of my own country and EU bc my country is a part of EU.

However, I did quickly look into it and it seems the point of Megans Law is to publicize sex offenders in an effort to protect the community. So esentially you have to register so that anyone living close by or in your neighborhood etc is aware that there is a presence of a sex offender.

So him moving states and not registrering is a crime bc his punishment as a sex offender includes being registered as a sex offender (for however many years) so he would esentially have comitted a crime for not registrering when he moved.

So Megans Law is about transparency in the community when it comes to sex offenders in order to be able to protect everyone living there.

I am not sure what else the law entails, that's just what I got from it when I looked it up quickly 🥰
