I was playing a Pokemon game in Spanish because I can, and there's this one character that says idioms wrong and I didn't realize that was his gimmick and I thought I was going insane
At one point I think he says [this is Lavender from the Arceus game] - como un anillo al pelo
Which is not the expression; he means como un anillo al dedo
For those confused, the true expression como un anillo al dedo is "like a ring on a finger" but it means "to suit someone well" or "to go very well", the closest idiom I can think of in English is "like a fish to water"
What his (incorrect malaphor) line said was "like a ring to hair" and the whole time I'm like what could that possibly mean and I was just spinning my wheels for a while trying to figure out if I had somehow learned the phrase wrong until he did it again and I was like ohhh he's just a goof okay

It's not necessary, but I found this song to be a good fit to this part. :3 (Steve Morgan--Into the Night)
~~~~~~
He snapped the suitcase shut.
Taking a step back from the bed where it lay, he sighed.
The day was upon them.
It was time to begin the flight to Hoenn.
He found himself thinking back to the last time he'd visited his mom. Far too long ago. Soon after he'd discovered he was in M--
No...
Soon after he'd discovered he was a Mew.
It had been a much less lighthearted visit. He'd had to break it to her that... Well...
That her son had died...
He hadn't expected her to accept him as... as a continuation of Randy... Arceus knew he had a heck of time accepting it. And there was no way he would've been able to if she hadn't.
He didn't dare think about what he would've done if she hadn't accepted him.
He smiled, as Lav's words came back to him.
"I'm proud of you, Dad. I know that time is hard for you, but... You've come a long way since it all."
...He had, hadn't he?
You alright, Love?
He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the beautiful blue Mew. Yeah, I am. Just reminiscing.
She nuzzled his cheek, purring. For once, he believed he would be to, if in Mew form.
Are you packed yet?
Yeah, I think so. I don't know how much of it I'll need.
That's always the case for travel. Better to have more than you need than less. I wonder how Lav's doing. And Perzi. Have you asked Perzi if he wants anything packed?
Yeah. He's fine. He's the most ready of any of us.
Randy sighed. I have to admit I'm jealous of how easily he adapted to having Rosemary. How easily he adapts to anything, really. I feel like a mess compared to him.
Akoya gave him a peck on the cheek and snuggled up to his neck. You're a recovering mess, Love. It's not easy, but you're doing great.
He felt his eyes grow hot with tears, and he smiled. Lav said something similar a bit ago. He paused, recomposing himself. I'm proud of you, too. You've been an amazing mother.
He felt her tense against his skin for only a brief moment. Her response was quiet and full of emotion. Thank you.
yyyeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Randy turned to the doorway just in time for the pale Mewtwo to barrel into him, knocking all three flat onto the bed. Thankfully they missed the suitcase.
Lavender quickly hopped up and hovered speedily around the room. YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAASS IT'S ALMOST TIMMME! WE'RE GONNA SEE GRAMMA VIVI!!!
Randy clenched his teeth against the peal of her voice. Lav, please, I know you're excited. But my ears are ringing.
Sorry Daddy! Her voice was at a reasonable level now, but she still floated and kicked her legs as she fought against her overwhelming joy.
Are you all packed, Lav?
She nodded vigorously. So much so her body rocked in the air as she bobbed her head. She finished with an accidental summersault and a giggle. Her parents couldn't help letting their own chuckles out as well.
Well...
Randy stood up, keeping a sense on his legs to see if they would decide to ache or not. Once up, he gripped the suit case handle and telekinetically pulled his cane to his hand. Mentally noting that he had everything, he turned into his Mew form. The items in his hands vanished with his human body.
Shall we speak to Perzi and the team?
You're all clear on how to run the place?
The three shiny Pokemon nodded in unison, grunting in affirmation.
Randy smiled at them, then turned to his wife, who was saying her good-byes to Jerry the Pichu. Lavender and Perzi were with the three kits, who were playing around in a nice padded tote bag they'd gotten for this trip, as a means to gather them together if need be.
Good. They seem to like it. Hopefully we won't need to force them in there.
The Mews eventually gathered together, waved good-bye to the remaining Pokemon...
And took off...
ARC START
I hope you all don't mind the influx of written parts for this arc. And potentially future arcs as well. It's just a lot quicker to get done, and helps offer looks at emotions and thoughts comics can't achieve on their own.
Anyway...
The trip has begun. :)
I've been meaning to make a post on the new legends game since the announcement, but have continuously had stuff come up so finally getting around to it now. Noting now that I've only seen very little (I'll mention what beneath the cut) about it so if any of this has been proven/disproven, my bad I guess lmao. But yeah, with that in mind, these are my very late night thoughts/predictions for the game.
So starting off I want to say that the only things I have seen on this game is the trailer and that apparently the whole game happens within Lumiose City. My kneejerk reaction to it happening purely in Lumiose was disappointment but then I took a step back and remembered that this will be Lumiose before it becomes the city we know from X and Y. Realistically I cannot see them making the areas of the game either 1. any smaller than Legends Arceus or 2. if they are smaller, have any less areas than Legends Arceus. Like with all the work they've done since Sword and Shield with bigger areas, I have faith that the sizing won't be an issue here.
Plot wise I am a little nervous, but I think a lot of that is just because there's so much that is unknown for now. Like tbh we don't even know if it'll have the same elements as Legends Arceus. Like for all we know it's a level by level game that once you finish a level, you can't go back because that part of Lumiose will have been built. Like I doubt that's the case, I imagine it'll be similar to Legends Arceus because they know that works, but we just don't know for sure yet.
Much like everyone else, I do hope Zygarde gets a proper story and tbh I don't want the A in the title to be another legendary (I do have a theory that instead of a new one, it may be Arceus but we'll see), but as long as it's written well, I will be happy. I also do wonder if the swords of justice will play a role given them being based on the 3 musketeers and feeling like they should be in Kalos.
More broadly plotwise, I am also super happy that Kalos was picked because tbh it's one of my least favourite games given how many missed opportunities I felt it had (likely due to the lack of a 3rd game) so I am excited to hopefully see those gaps be filled.
But yeah, overall I will say though, with Legends Arceus being my favourite pokemon game, it does have a lot to live up to, and that makes me anxious.
As I'm sure is the case with most people, my main hope for this game is that there are new mega pokemon (and regional forms). And tbh, I hope that any pokemon that already has a mega doesn't get a new one... maybe with the exception of Blastoise and Venusaur because it'd be nice for Charizard to not have the special treatment lmao. I don't really have any hopes for specific pokemon to get a new form or mega, maybe something I wouldn't usually use. Like I had never used Muk before Sun and Moon and now Alolan Muk is a top 10 pokemon ever for me.
Starter wise, my first guess is that they will pick all 3 from ones that aren't generation 6 or generations that were picked for Legends Arceus. Sprigatito, Sobble and Torchic were the first to come to mind, but I also have a nagging (affectionate) feeling that Squirtle may also be picked. If I'm right, I will likely pick Sobble because I've never done a runthrough with it, but if it is Squirtle and not Sobble, I really don't know because I've used all three of those pretty evenly. Then again, Lavender specifically came from another region iirc (did we ever talk about the implications of this? Like the 'Hisuian' starter forms may not actually be from Hisui if he brought them along from where he was from. Like I know pokemon says it's the area that determines the form but it takes years/generations to adjust so there's likely another region that had at least similar if not the same final forms as the Hisuian starters) so they could use that as a reason to finally give the generation 6 starters a mega and/or new final form.
And there is probably more but it's 1am here so those thoughts will have to wait for another time.
I had a weird dream about pokemon legends: arceus™ having a bizarre DLC where ingo time travels to the future (but like the really distant future) and you had to convince him to go back to his own time line but he's like "no screw you >:(". Palkia and Dialga were fighting for some reason, lavender town was absolutely abandoned, like, no one was there but a single cubone, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza were also fighting and caused serious weather in some areas...oh and I'm pretty sure Red and Blue were there, and they were married and adopted a kid, idk the kid's name.
Oh yeah, you have to go to every reigon (paldea inculded) to hunt ingo down and convince him to go back.
This was a very weird dream because I never even played legends: arceus.
But yeah it was basically super mario odyssey but Pokémon
Pokeblr ask questions
These looked really fun and I wanted to fill them out! So here we go.
Questions from here:
https://works-of-magic.tumblr.com/post/704562047385518080
What region are you from? What town? Sinnoh, specifically Celestic Town!
What’s your Unovan horoscope? So I've never heard about this before, but apparently it's Alomomola? Did some research and it suits me well enough, but I won't be basing my daily decisions on the horoscope.
Have you visited other regions? A few, yeah! I make a special trip to Lavender Town in Kanto every year around Samhain! We've also been to Kalos for a special Ghost-specific tournament, Alola because I really wanted to see what Mimikyu were like, and... well, the trip to Unova was quick but I still brought back a hitchhiking Litwick. Oh, and way back in our earliest days, we met a pair of psychics with an Abra that was strong enough to transport us to Mt. Silver in Johto, luckily they didn't really care that it was off-limits as long as nobody found out... but the more time passes, the more I wonder if it was just a hallucination.
Update: Mistress says it was real, and she's practically the queen of hallucinations. So I guess we've been to Johto too, yeah. That one was also quick, just a one-night stay.
What region would you most like to visit if ever given the chance? I've heard some really interesting things about Paldea! And I'm really enamored with Murkrow, okay, I always have been, so it would be a dream trip for me to find a reason to go observe some Johto Murkrow, get a feel for whether they're any different from the ones in Sinnoh! And also the Corviknight line in Galar intrigues me, but the only reason I'd want to go to Galar would be to observe them and the Sinistea line. But Galar is really strict about what Pokemon you bring into the region, and, well... It wouldn't be worth it if I can't bring Mistress. I wouldn't enjoy it without her.
Thoughts on the legendaries of your home region? Living in Sinnoh with our batch of legendaries is taking a giagantic risk. At least twice in living memory, Palkia and Dialga have started fighting with each other and broken the laws of physics in ways that put people and Pokemon in danger. You don't really hear about Suicune deciding to fight Entei and drowning the world or something. Even the stories I've heard about fights between Groudon and Kyogre (did I spell those right?) don't result in a possible apocalypse. Sheesh.
Arceus and Giratina are neat, I'm not really an Arceist myself and a lot of people who do my line of witchy work tend more towards Giratina worship, but I'm more of an agnostic theist. And then there's the Regi legendaries, but most of them avoid people and do entirely their own thing. I really don't have anything to say about them.
Thoughts on the legendaries of another region? If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be Lugia or Suicune. Yveltal and Xerneas uphold an important balance, and that concept is pretty integral in my spirituality... (And spiritualism. Pokemon aren't the only ghosts I've interacted with.) Let's see... The bird trio in Kanto is neat but most of what I know about them is aesthetic. I've heard people have nice interactions when they encounter Victini, Celebi, and Jirachi, so they're probably friendly little guys? Uhhm... Those are all the ones that come to mind. You hear a lot of legends in Celestic Town, but the vast majority of them are Sinnoh-specific
If you were a gym leader, what kind of gym would you run? If you are already a gym leader or gym trainer, what’s your gym like? Oh, Ghost type, absolutely! Heh, I don't know how I could possibly run a gym without looking like a shade (pun intended?) of Fantina, because I'm way more of a coordinator than a gym leader! But it would have a spooky atmosphere and challengers would have to deal with the mind-games Misdreavus and Mismagius like to play. Look, if I'm going to run a gym, you KNOW it's going to be Misdreavus themed! Though Mistress would be my ace, probably.
I'd probably also have Berry on the lineup, because everyone knows Ghosts are weak to Dark type, and having a Fairy type in the mix could counter that.. Ooh, and maybe the Mismagius I brought home from Alola! Are you allowed to have two of the same species in a gym leader's team? Heck if I know. But that ghost knows Dazzling Gleam too, and lots of other type moves besides ghost. (Most people forget that Mismagius can learn moves that are Grass, Fire, Electric, Fairy, and Rock type too! And also dark and psychic but you see those often enough that I assume people at least suspect they can learn those...)
I'm going to stop typing there before I get on one of my Mismagius tangents. But you get the idea. A Ghost type gym that plays mind games with you and has two Mismagius on the team with a strategic addition as well is JUST my style!
Which do you prefer, competitive battling or battling for fun? Honestly? I don't really enjoy battling either way. My preference for battling is no battle at all. When I battle, it's not for fun and it's not for a title, it's for either making sure my team is strong enough to defend itself or for contest appeals. Though I couldn't resist battling Fantina. I do have that Relic Badge somewhere... but that's probably the only badge I'll ever own.
What type of battle strategy do you tend to use with your Pokémon? If you do contests or something else with your Pokémon, what is your preferred approach to that? I do use a highly strategic approach when I'm battling! I always try to press a type advantage, and I always use moves that utilize my team's natural strengths. Mistress struggled with Ghost-type moves for awhile, for instance, but she was fantastic using Psychic-type moves and she had a wicked-effective Lucky Chant, so we focused on that for awhile. I make a lot of other trainers rather irritated because I analyze the battle as it's going, and I switch up my strategy based on what species they're using, and I train my team to withstand some really powerful hits. Plus I have no qualms about switching Pokemon in and out, that drives other trainers crazy.
And oh my stars, how do I BEGIN to explain my contest approach?! Basically I try to find where my Pokemon's aesthetic and my personal aesthetic meet. I lean towards very dark and elegant designs, I prefer motion to static style, and I train ghosts, so like, our contest style is very dark and elegant. We usually incorporate dance and music; once Missie learned Perish Song that became our "signature move", if you know what I mean. And to keep my Contest partners in top condition, I make some MEAN poffins. My youngest sibling makes them taste better to people, but theirs are always for flavor over function, and mine are more balanced for both.
Favorite Pokémon League champion? Cynthia! Call it home team bias, but her team is also really difficult to beat, I've heard. She's been reigning champion for like two decades now, hasn't she? And she has a Spiritomb! That's another one of those Pokemon that gets a bad reputation, but can be a really loyal and powerful partner when you manage to earn their trust.
Favorite gym leader? Fantina, far and away forever Fantina! She runs a Ghost gym, she uses a Mismagius, she's a Top Coordinator, she travels, she blends her contest moves in with her battling style... And she has such a bright personality! She's a delight and I wish we could be friends, but, you know. I'm not even in the League circuit.
Give us a random celebrity (gym leader, tv personality, musician, etc.) you can’t stand and why. I avidly avoid celebrity gossip and all that. Frankly I just don't care. But I've heard the old leaders of Team Plasma, and Team Galactic, and Team Flare, all wanted to do terrible things to the world. Some news you just can't escape... and gosh, hearing Team Plasma supporters going off a few years back was INFURIATING.
Thoughts on your home region’s Pokémon League? I don't exactly keep up with it? My best friend took on the Sinnoh Pokemon League and did pretty well! But, you know, aside from knowing Cynthia makes a really good champion for us, I don't know much about it.
Weirdest recent local news story? I don't even have a tv and the only radio I listen to is a curated online station. I, uhh... I don't follow local news. But I heard there was an Unown breakout recently? I think I heard that there's a cave somewhere, maybe near Solaceon Town?, where they usually gather, but it's weird for them to gather anywhere else in Sinnoh. The divination witches were talking about the end of times and everything, all over some random Onown. It was kind of hilarious, actually.
If you had to pick a Pokémon to represent you, what Pokémon would you pick? Not to steal Mistress's thunder, but absolutely a Mismagius. I'm a witch, I'm always garbed in flowing skirts, I actually own four conical witch hats, I practice both baneful and benevolent magics, and I can be strategic in a lot of flexible ways. Also, I use a lot of crystals and gems in my magic, and the gems on a Mismagius are pretty important to them. And I'm very good at startling people when I "appear"... and I'm not gonna lie, sometimes I'll sling a spell just to see what happens. And I'm way better at spiritual or mental tasks than physical... and I can be pretty quick when I need to be but I don't have a whole lot of stamina... You know what, maybe I'm already a Mismagius that just THINKS I'm a human! /j /j /j
Favorite evolutionary stone? Not to be predictable, but: Dusk stone! Both Misdreavus and Murkrow, two species in my Top 5 Favorite Pokemon Ever, evolve with it! I've never actually trained a Honchkrow, Murky would probably feel the fury of a woman scorned if I kept one in the breeding center. But I've raised four Mismagius at this point, and one of my signature contest costume pieces is a necklace made of a spent dusk stone. It fits my look really well! Plus, on the magical side of things, its correspondences are things like protection, secrets, shielding, and introspection, all really good things for me.
Do you prefer to hand decorate your Pokéballs? Do you have a preference for any specialty Pokéballs? Oh, in the Sinnoh Contests, if I didn't decorate my Pokeballs I'd probably lose appeal points right at the start! So I use lots of seals. I love playing with those things! Trick likes them too, though I think he mostly likes to hide in the smoke and use it to help him prank people.
As for specialty balls, I mostly use dusk balls, timer balls, and luxury balls.
Do you think Rock and Ground are distinctly different Pokémon types, or largely the same and incorrectly categorized? I think there's a difference, in the same way that there's a difference between Psychic and Ghost, and Normal and Fairy. It's like they're on the same axis but opposite sides of the spectrum, does that make sense? Now I'm not a type researcher, but I like the specificity. It helps me as a strategic battler know what I'm dealing with when they can tell me if a Pokemon is weak to Ice or not!
Do you think Grass and Bug are distinctly different Pokémon types, or largely the same and incorrectly categorized? I honestly don't know enough about either to make a call. I kinda just breeze by Bug and Grass types. I figure they're different, though. A Cascoon doesn't absorb nutrients from the sun.
Do you think Water and Ice are distinctly different Pokémon types, or largely the same and incorrectly categorized? Well, I know Ice affects Dragon types differently than Water, so they must be different, right? All the Ice types I've met had a more, heh, "chill" personality, too. I get along a lot better with Ice types than Water types in general. (Kinda surprising I've never caught a Froslass, isn't it?)
Do your Pokémon wear any fun accessories? (Already answered! Tl;dr not usually, we mostly save the accessories for contests and special occasions, but I DO have a Mismagius that likes to adorn himself on the daily and a Mimikyu that likes to play dress-up.)
Does your Pokémon have a favorite item? That depends on which Pokemon! Murky's is easy, his favorite item is berries. Dry berries. Willow always wanted to become a Mismagius, and we kept the dusk stone I evolved her with as a keepsake. Berry, my Mimikyu, loves when I bring out the Contest accessories case! (I can tell you that Sheera HATED wearing the soothe bell, though. And Mistress DESPISES Pokeballs.)
Do your Pokémon battle? I've kind of answered this, huh? We do sometimes, but not often. I use it mostly to pad my income. (Breeding Ghosts and the occasional Murkrow smack-dab in the middle of Eterna Forest makes for a rather niche customer base....) Especially if I'm raising a baby for someone that wants a battle partner, I'll lay the groundwork for training the baby, and that involves some battling. A breeder's job isn't just reproduction, after all! We've also battled quite a lot in self-defense, and to defend others, which is a big part of why I train my team for battling in the first place. And it's a good way to work out each other's rhythms for contests, too! You can learn a lot about your Pokemon through battling.
Would you ever enter one of your Pokémon in a contest? Which one? Oh, we've done SO many contests! I didn't have time to try one of those... what do they call them, the dress-up and dance stages in Kalos, I think it was? We were really focused on the Trick or Treat competition, heh. But we've done plenty at home! Missie is really my contest star, though Mistress greatly prefers contests to battling. She uses it as an outlet for self-expression. Murky tried contests now and again, and an odd assortment of my other Misdreavus are raised for contests and bred for the right temperament and condition. Sort of my specialty actually, breeding different traits in my contest line versus my battling line!
What type of food do your Pokémon prefer? What flavors? Oh, that's easy. Murky likes Dry, Mistress likes bitter, Ninetales will eat anything, Berry likes Spicy, Starpoint likes Sweet, Screech also likes dry... Let's see, there are more and I have this all written down in a chart somewhere, but most of my working team likes berries and the poffins I make.
Pokéblocks, Poké Puffs, Poffins, Poké Beans, Curry, or Sandwiches? I think the Alolan Mismagius still dreams of Poke Beans, but they don't grow very well in Sinnoh's unrpredictable climate. And no, sir, I am NOT paying for a greenhouse just to grow them! So personally, I really like making poffins, the technique is soothing and I've been making them for years, so it's almost effortlessly easy for me. The ones who tried Poke Puffs quite liked them! But gosh, making pastries is a lot harder than making poffins. They're so temperamental. Theoretically I know how to make curry, but I've never learned from a Galarian? Closest I come to excelling at is a stir-fry! And as for sandwiches, they're alright I guess but I don't know how to make them with the ~Paldea Flare~. I know nothing about making Pokeblocks though, and none of my team has tried them.
Who was your first Pokémon? How did you get them? How long have you had them? Ninetales! He was a gift from my parents-- well, my dad mostly. Sort of as a reward for keeping up on my chores and grades. I've had him since I was about 8 years old! He was just a tiny Vulpix with five tails that day, and I was essentially clueless on how to train him. Luckily we both had a certain degree of wanderlust and a taste for adventure, so even though I wasn't really interested in battling, we spent a lot of time exploring. I didn't really have any human friends back then, so he was my only real companion.
What is your most recently obtained Pokémon? Probably that Alolan Mismagius! He essentially wandered up to us when we were there and decided he was joining the team, and how could I say no?
What is your favorite Pokémon type? Ghost, of course~
What is your least favorite Pokémon type? Hmmm... I don't get along well with Fighting types, and Ninetales is the only Fire type I've been able to keep up with.
If you could have any Pokémon in the world to add to your team, what Pokémon would it be? I already have four Mismagius. Sweet dreams are made of this... but if I must choose one, I've heard Sinistea are adorable. I'd have to earn its trust quick though, because I do leave a LOT of tea unattended...
Have you encountered any rare or unusual Pokémon? I saw a Shiny Murkrow years and years ago! It actually made a lot of trouble for us, I think Murky developed a nemesis that day. I've glimpsed... Mesprit, I think it was? And I've seen Giratina in visions.
Have any of your Pokémon evolved? If so, what was in your opinion the most difficult one to evolve? Already answered! Ninetales of course, Mistress I found as a Mismagius but she had a lot of problems post-evolution, and Willow and Stella were both raised from baby Misdreavus and evolved in my care. Oh, and Excalibur was a Pidgey when I found him and now he's a big beautiful Pidgeot!
Do you have a Pokémon that refuses to evolve? Most of my Misdreavus don't want to, but the only one that steadfastly REFUSES is Murky. He harbors a serious grudge against Honchkrow and will actively fight you if you suggest it.
Did any of your Pokémon have temperament issues when they first evolved? How did you handle it? -squints- Mistress had temperament issues when I first found her, but I didn't know her as a Misdreavus, so I don't know how much of that was the evolution and how much of that was her deep distrust of people. Ninetales' personality changed drastically and at first I thought he was sick, because he was pretty energetic as a Vulpix and he calmed down a lot after evolving. But I don't think it was an issue.
Which Pokémon took you the longest to bond with? That's definitely Mistress. It was probably a year before she really started to trust me, and when she was closed off it was hard to figure out HOW to even bond with her. She tried not to show anything and she actively tried to prevent us from getting close. Luckily I persisted, because now I can't imagine life without her!
Do you have a naming convention for your Pokémon? Nah, though I usually base it on their personality or a special story I share with them.
What Pokémon did you grow up thinking was rare only to find out they’re common elsewhere? Misdreavus. Oh my gosh, they ARE kind of rare in Sinnoh and Johto, but apparently they're SO easy to find in Alola!
Do you and your Pokémon have any badges or contest ribbons? Which one are you most proud of? Already answered! Recap: Several of my Pokemon have contest ribbons, and Mistress has her own ribbon case entirely because she has contest ribbons, the Footstep ribbon, some decorative ribbons, AND I got her all the ribbons from Julia!
Favorite thing about your partner Pokémon? Favorite thing? Just one thing? One singular individual thing? Maybe that's it, that she's a complete individual and won't let anyone or anything else define her. We treasure originality on this team!
[Image Description: An androgynous person with somewhat dark skin, short two-toned violet hair, hazel eyes, and a small mole under the eye visible to us. They are wearing a maroon turtlenecked tunic shirt, a blue sweater with turquoise accents, blue pants, and violet slip-on shoes with lavender accents. They are looking to the side in pensive thought, a hand holding a blue pen held up to their chin. Beside them is the Pokemon Claydol. It is a large dark brown mud sculpture with rounded arms and stubby legs, white and yellow designs on its front, and white ridges over a bunch of red "eyes" circling its "head", each "eye" separated with a yellow bump resembling a nose or beak. The background behind them is Verdanturf Town from the Pokemon games that take place in Hoenn (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sappire), specifically the area in front of the Contest Hall and entrance to Rusturf Tunnel. End ID.]
"'The Trainer approaches their next challenge...Pokeball tightly gripped in one hand, they stand on the battlefield, feeling a confident smirk cross their own face...' Yes, that could work. It does seem a bit generic at first, but one could argue that almost every battle starts in much the same way. Ah, pardon, I still have yet to introduce myself. I am Lian, a writer in both profession and passion. Unfortunately while my passion remains, my ability to conceptualize ideas is less than spectacular at the moment. Battles are my main source of inspiration, so perhaps in this battle, we can serve to inspire one another!"
More Battle Peak representatives! Hoenn's representative is Lian, a writer with a serious creative block. They're hoping that their time at the Battle Peak can help to reinvigorate their main source of inspiration, which is watching Pokemon in battle and participating in battle with their own Pokemon. And yes, I know there is a canon Lian in the Pokemon universe already I have played Legends Arceus I knooowwwww, but 1) when I started developing my Lian, either Warden Lian hadn't been announced or I just forgot about him, depending on how early in the background that I started making the Battle Peak challengers, and 2) I don't subscribe to the "One Steve Limit"/"One Mario Limit" principle with my OCs as it is, hehe. Also, this is Pokemon. HOW many Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys do we have again? And if we're sticking strictly to the games, let's not forget all those Youngster Joeys! ;P
Given that Battle Peak is a Battle Tower-esque setup, Lian's team is slightly randomized depending on what battle conditions you have set. They will select either three (for single battles) or four (for double battles) from their "full" team of six. They will always include Claydol on their team, and the rest of their team can include Milotic, Metagross, Absol, Altaria, or Swalot.
Snaking In
She had never before seen such a vast array of flowers in her life.
A Dragonair naga slithered through garden fields, marveling at the sheer variety of floral plots. Marigolds here, fuchsias there, roses and daffodils, even a set of Gracideas… it was a botanist's paradise, and she felt a grand satisfaction, taking everything in with wide, impressed purple-red eyes. Long, dark-blue hair flowed at waist length behind her, stopping where her lower snake body met the upper, anthropomorphic half. Her wing-like ear frills twitched in thought, as she adjusted her lower coils into a relaxed pose. She trilled quietly to herself, taking in the scents of each flower, until there was a sudden, pervasive scent of lavender in her vicinity.
"I was wondering when I would be getting another new neighbour."
The strange voice took the naga by total shock. She whipped her head around, face alight with a red blush as she came to face a… centaur? But this wasn't a typical centaur; this one was a mixture of Sky-Shaymin and what seemed to be Leafeon. And unlike the centaurs the snake new, this one wasn't part-human, but had a furred upper half. But she was… purple? Weren't both of those Pokemon green? The serpent's face clearly conveyed a worried expression, as the unfamiliar, oddly-coloured centaur's face went from a soft, sly smile, to showing one of regret and concern.
"Goodness… I'm sorry! I wasn't trying to scare you!" The taur rubbed the back of her neck with her left hand, her leafy ears twitching rhythmically. "I just, well…" A blush crossed the grass type's muzzle. "I hadn't seen you before, and I, well… I just wanted to say hello."
The Dragonair shrunk slightly into her coils. Arceus, she's so beautiful… She didn't necessarily believe in love at first sight, but it was beyond obvious that there was at least some sort of crush entering her brain. "Oh. I… h-hello. Is this your home? I'm not intruding… am I?" It was like her confidence had been hit with Draining Kiss. "I'm sorry… I can leave, if you want."
The taur shook her head immediately, wanting to dismiss that notion entirely. "No, not at all." She definitely noticed her new acquaintance's behaviour, but wanted to play it a bit more cool, to help the serpent save a bit of face. "Please, stay. In fact, I've been hoping to see a new face in this part of the forest. It gets rather lonely sometimes."
"Huh. Good…" The Dragonair rose upward slightly, though still sported a massive blush on her face. "I mean, that, it's not a problem."
"Of course it isn't." The taur chuckled, her muzzle emitting a soothing, musical trill. "Hey, come here. I'd like to get a closer look at you."
The naga obliged, coming up to face the unfamiliar grass-type about three feet from her forepaws. "Um.. I'm sorry." The dragon rubbed at her shoulders nervously. "Here I am, moving in next door to you… and I haven't even asked your name."
The flowered taur trilled softly a second time. "Oh, so you have moved in! I was only guessing earlier. That's wonderful news." She nodded curtly. "I'm Jolokia Capsicum Aniseed. Loki for short. I'm the keeper of these gardens, and this corner of White Forest as a whole. You're in Redolent Grove, my friend, and my grove is gladly open for you to stay."
"Well… um, it's nice to meet you, Loki…" The naga seemed shy at first, her eyes barely meeting the taur's in return as she extended her right arm out to offer a handshake. "I'm Cascade. Cascade Aikawa. And… yes, I'd love that. You're… very kind. Thank you."
"It's nice to meet you as well, Cascade." Loki's left arm extended, her furred hand clasping the Dragonair's in greetings. The hybrid's eyes blinked slowly, and she stood in a measured, but welcoming, stance. The two shook hands for several seconds, smiles forming on both snouts, though Cascade's was much more cautious. "And it's my pleasure, of course."
"Well." The grass-type nodded softly. "Now that we've got the formalities out of the way…" Loki let go of Cascade's hand, but still smiled broadly at the serpentine woman. "How would you like me to show you around? There's far more to Redolent Grove than just the gardens!"
"Sounds… great. It's going to be lovely, being your neighbour…" She slid alongside Loki's left flank, still glowing with a deep blush. And as they left the gardens, beginning the grove-wide tour, part of Cascade's brain hoped that they might end up as not just neighbours, but perhaps even more importantly, friends…
( Cascade is open for asks! )
Indy plays Legends: Arceus
I haven't played Diamond/Pearl for a lot of years, but it's possibly my favorite game of the bunch. I've watched my roommate play some of the remake, and I hate the art style and also that you can't meaningfully decorate your base anymore. All this to say that I'm sure there are D/P references that I'm not going to get because it's been so long.
I have spent an ungodly amount of time playing the DLCs for Sword/Shield lately. I put more time into them than the base game itself. So I am very excited about an entire open world game.
Everything specific below the cut
It is sending me that Arceus speaks like the King James Bible
The fact that it speaks at all, like many legendaries and psychic types, once more drives home how much of a dick Calryrex in the Isle of Armor is for hijacking an entire human without their consent or knowledge just because he couldn't be arsed to do his own talking
I really hate the "modern kid wakes up in a fantasy setting" trope, but I'm interested in the wrinkle that a direct visitation from god means this kid is kind of a prophet. I did not expect to contact god via my cell phone, I must say.
The professor's hat looks so stupid. It would be fine if it didn't go all the way under his chin, but just hung open like a winter hat. Also why Laventon instead of Lavender? At least it'd be a plant, if not a tree.
I'm pretty sure that if all pokemon could shrink this would have come up A LOT before now. I can only assume that either a) this is a side game like Mystery Dungeon and therefore things work differently and are dubiously canon, or the much funnier b) the study of pokemon is new and Laventon believes all pokemon can shrink because the alternative - that one particular species of nut is just wild - is too out there for his modern science yet.
This looks to my uneducated eye like the fantasy Meiji Era and I am running around in basically my underwear by those standards. Professor, would it kill you to give me some clothes before teaching me how to imprison the wildlife?
I'm so glad the villagers are as wigged out by my clothes as they should be
I see a Galarian Weezing-shaped thing. Could it be that the British-sounding people really are Galarian rather than Galar being relatively newly connected to the rest of the world? I just want to know all about the history of this world and its regions.
Wow, I hate Beni's awful green mustache/chinstrap and grey beard combo
15! Not the tiniest of children! Hurray! Unfortunately, this qualifies me for indentured servitude. If I knew I was going to be a prophet pressed into a foreign power's service, I'd've named myself Joseph.
"Hey 15 year old, if you fuck up we are explicitly booting you out to die in the wilderness and get eaten by pokemon."
I want to eat a potato mochi. I had no idea these existed until I googled it just now, but I want them in my face.
I want to decorate my quarters but I don't think you can.
You people are sending a child out in the wilderness in basically underwear.
Putting so much emphasis on how you can and probably will die alone in the wild is hilarious for a series that is normally marketed for kids. I feel like they know the people most excited about this specific game in the series are the ones who've been hoping for open world pokemon since the late 90s/early 00s.
Laventon's camera is absurdly small for this time period expy. Cowards, not going for the huge tripod-mounted ones. It doesn't even have a big ol' flash!
Like in A Knight's Tale, the key to excelling in this story is to be too stupid to know when you're in mortal peril.
Finally someone has clothed me! And it's the person who's repeatedly said she'd leave me to die in the wilderness!
Not that I'm complaining, but why did you specially give me a hat, ma'am?
PLEASE DON'T SUPPLEX ME, SIR
The tutorial for this game lasts forever. I know there are a bunch of new things to learn, but I want to run around the wilds like a gremlin already.
WHEN YOU'RE IN YOUR HOUSE YOUR SHOES AUTOMATICALLY DISAPPEAR, THAT'S SO CUTE
I know I said I wanted to wander around outside but now I have to explore every single door in this town. And there are many.
Tumblr media
A very serious young trainer and, unfortunately, his pokemon.
I will exclusively take pictures with the old timey lens.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: You DO take falling damage and you CAN drown.
I have learned how to roll and now I will Link my way across this entire landscape
Oh no, inventory management
I am very bad about keeping track of which buttons do what in any video game, but I'm mad that they arbitrarily changed the controls from what they were for doing the exact same things in the Wild Areas in Sword/Shield. Now I have to retrain my muscle memory for no good reason.
I am also very bad at keeping track of whether I'm throwing a pokeball or a pokemon. And I keep pressing LR instead of ZLZR because I'm really a PC gamer and not used to two whole sets of triggers back there.
Chasing His Dream Team
Tumblr media
So, I decided to do his team and see how it would work out.
This is the story. That won’t be spread to the world.
           So, it started with Bulbasaur. I decided to name them all by their original Japanese names. Fushi the Bulbasaur. He did great in the early battles. The second one with Gary was very difficult. So, I had to circle back to the battle later. I battled and never refused any battle I met. The next one after the 1st gym battle win was to get Abra. But Toru/Gary/Insert was there and good news, Pidgeotto was not hard to take down. So, I battled and made it through to the grass Abra is located. It took 5 tries and finally, I caught him. I then had to always send him out first to boost his exp. That too quite awhile. Of course, victory at the second gym. I decided to go all the way down to Vermillion City. Battled everyone in S.S. Anne and obtained Cut. Also, Abra a.k.a. Fudin finally got confusion and didn’t need to be babied. I .... went to the Rock Tunnel and arrived at Lavender Town. I caught Growlithe (Wyndie) after two attempts. They were too powerful at that point. So, after that I raid the Game Corner in Celadon City. I also defeated Erika to get my 3rd badge. Why not? I then went to Pokemon Tower and eventually got Cubone (Gara). After clearing the tower, I cleared the Route and got Snorlax out of the way. I went against LT. Surge after getting angry of the trash SWITCHES. Got my fourth victory win and continue onto Fushia City.
         I cleared all the routes surrounding it that is not in water. Gara had to get Rock Tomb since Zapdos is not here to help and there are too many bird keepers. I went into the Safari Zone and grabbed Surf. Also, some Gold Teeth which got my Strength. (Oh, wonder who got what? Well, the others are easy but Fushi got cut & Gara got strength) So, I went against Koga and won. I had no choice but to use Snorlax to surf and find Psyduck in Celadon. I was close to getting a lv. 37 which would have helped so much...but knocked out. Ended up with a lv. 12 Dakku. Then cleared Silph Co. and beat that other gym. Went into Sabrina’s and defeated everyone. Finally, after all of that; I returned to the route with Rock Tunnel & went to Zapdos. Gara was getting a nice workout and Wyndie too. I caught Zapdos a.k.a. SANDAAA with one pokeball, one great ball & 5 ultra balls used. I continued clearing the routes and making my way to Cinnabar Island. More battles, more victories and we land into the Sevii Islands for a bit. After Bill quit the interruptions, I return to Giovanni. I clear and finish all the trainers who wanted to battle. It is now time for Victory Road. More victories and more growth involved.
        Side note. I should talk about the struggle. Psyduck and the evolution blocking was the hardest thing to deal with until I got 20 Pokemon in the Pokedex. Grabbed an Everstone so finally no issue. The only other problem are getting Wyndie and Fudin to evolve at max attacks. Fudin had to be traded and that took awhile. Also, Wyndie... had to wait until level 49. Finally at Victory Road, I was able to evolve him. The only other problem is SANDAA. Had to get him an electric attack... if I waited, it would have made me wait to level 85. Yeah, good Arceus! Other than that, it had some interesting times playing with non-damaging attacks. Mostly, Disable (x2)... Roar... Leech Seed... Poisonpowder...
Back to the story, I went and trained a bit. In the end, the Pokemon ranged from 49 to 52. I went in for a bit of a test. Lorelei knocked out Fushi and SANDAA. Thanks to .... her using a Full Restore. (Yeah, talented trainer MY GULPIN!) But we made it after one small punch. Weird that two times, they had a liiiittle bit of health left. Supremely lucky. But still came on top. Then onto Bruno, he knocked out Dakku and SANDAA. Dakku got knocked out in the first second of the battle. But he was defeated. Then Agatha, she took down two. Used a Full Restore.... But I was able to make it. Then Lance, used Full Restores but after knocking out 4... I made it. Now onto Toru...
It was the end of the line. The Full Restores got him to victory. WHAT KIND OF VICTORY IS THIS?!? Pidgeot vs SANDAA, win. Rhydon vs Fushi, lost... forgot Giga Drain needed a PP refill. Rhydon vs Dakku, win (She brought IT). Exeggcutor vs Wyndie, win after a full restore. Gyarados vs SANDAA, win. Alakazam vs. Wyndie, lost after a full restore then a full restore. Alakazam vs .... lost lost lost lost. Alakazam vs SANDAA, win. Charizard vs SANDAA, lost. Close to finishing but Full Restores.... how can you be considered a TRUE MASTER if you have to rely on Full Restores to save you.
Hate posers. The next time around. Dream Fulfilled.
Ghastly, Haunter, Gengar X Reader Pt. 2
"(Y/N); I'd like you to meet Ghastly. Ghastly here is the reason for all the weird things happenig to you and Espeon.He took a liking to you and followed you to your flat and decided to play with you. He says that he enjoys seeing your reactions every time he messes with your stuff or spooks Espeon." Melissa explained. I was speechless; a ghost pokemon made me question my own sanity? A Ghastly made me believe that I was going crazy because he took a liking to me? I was weirded out and freaked out from the whole thing when Melissa spoke. "He is very sorry for scaring you and Espeon and feels very bad for causing any trouble for you and your pokemon. Isn't that right, Ghastly?" Melissa eyed the saddened Ghastly. I sighed before smiling softly at the guilty ghost type. "It's alright, Ghastly; there are no hard feelings. Espeon and I forgive you, just please don't do it again." I smiled brightly at the now happy and excited pokemon. After a few more moments, Melissa left after I thanked her greatly for helping me. Ghastly refused to leave the house and I understood that he wanted to stay with Espeon and me. I agreed and had to convince Espeon to allow accept that Ghastly will be with us from now on. You see, poor Espeon was Ghastly's ticket to fun; the ghost pokemon loved to prank and scare the psychic type to no end. Now that Ghastly is with me, I cannot imagine my life without him. He has been there for me through thick and thin. He would help me with cooking, cleaning, organizing, running errands, battling, and just enjoying our free time. Ghastly turned out to be the sweetest, and the most kindest pokemon that I have ever had as a partner. One time I had this problem with a guy harassing me and Ghastly got rid of him instantly by just giving me one heck of a scare. It might sound weird and down right wrong but I think that I am developing feelings for the ghost type; I actually wished he would be human, but I knew that that was never going to happen. Pokemon turning human...yeah right! "Thank you again, Ghastly. You really didn't have to come with me to the store; I just wanted to get some milk." I smiled at my pokemon. Ghastly smiled widely as he rubbed against my cheek. "Okay okay; how about you go home ahead of me to turn on the heater and let Espeon prepare some popcorn using her psychic powers? We deserve a movie night after all that battling today." I smiled as Ghastly nodded and disappeared. I slowly made my way home as I was left alone with my thoughts for the few minutes until I could reach my flat. I was almost home when a sudden pain in the back of my head made me collapse and black out. The last thing I remember thinking was if Espeon made the popcorn. My vision slowly focused as I noticed that I was blindfolded and strapped to a chair, a very uncomfortable metal chair. "Hello?! What in the name of Arceus is going on here?!" I yelled as the panic inside of me increased. "Shut up, girlie!" A loud growl emitted throughout the room as I tried to pin-point where the source of the sound was. From the deep and gruff voice I presumed the man was broad and muscular. I gulped and thought about what he was going to do with me. "Wh...what are y...you going to do w...with me?" I cursed my stutter as I tried not to look scared. "It's not you we want, girlie; so don't flatter yourself. It's the stupid Ghastly that is always with you, it's him we want." The deep voice replied with what seemed to be a hint of a smirk. "What do you want with Ghastly?! " I asked as I felt worry for my pokemon. Silence filled the room as I asked the question again but more demand in my tone. The silence was killing me; it felt like hours when I am pretty sure it was only a few minutes. What did the creep want from Ghastly? Is he like a gang member or something? How does he know Ghastly? Come to think of it, I don't know anything about Ghastly's past; where was he staying before he met me? What was he doing? Who was he with? I made a mental note to ask these questions to my ghost type if I make it out of here alive. A loud and distant sound of a crash made me jump in my seat. I heard rapid footsteps that seemed to be climbing stairs followed by the sound of a door bursting open. "(Y/N)! It's okay, I'm here. I'm going to get you out of here." A deep, smooth, and dare I say sexy voice rang through my ears as I felt the ropes being untied. My blindfold came off to reveal a pale man with amazing purple hair, beautiful purple eyes that I felt mesmerized by. and the most heart stopping smile that I have ever seen a guy own. "Hi; I hope that idiot, Zangoose, didn't do anything to hurt you. Are you hurt?" The man asked me but I ignored his question and asked some of my own. "Who are you? Is Zangoose the guy who kidnapped me? Where am I? Where's Ghastly? Is Ghastly okay? How do you know my name? How did..." I was interrupted by the guy placing a his hand on my mouth to stop me from talking. I blushed at how soft his skin was and how he smelled of lavender and...vanilla? I think it's vanilla. "Calm down, (Y/N); I am your Ghastly. I am just human, now. I've been able to change forms from human to pokemon for a while; I was just afraid of telling you because I thought you wouldn't want to be with me." The man explained as I stared at him wide eyed. "Is this some kind of joke? Seriously?! You think i would fall for something like that?! Who are you really?" I was whisked out of the dark room and down the stairs towards a...kitchen? Are we going to discuss things over dinner? I hope so because I am starving. "I'll explain everything after I know that you are safe and far away from Zangoose." The man said as he tried to open the back door but it was locked. He grabbed my warm hand with his cool one and ran to the opposite side of the building. "The entrance!" I yelled as we ran towards the big door when a man that resembled a Zangoose showed up out of nowhere and pointed a gun at the purple haired man. "What are you going to do, Zangoose? Shoot me? I'll just make the bullet go right through me." Ghastly scoffed as Zangoose laughed evilly. "Nah, too easy. I want to see you suffer like you did with me." Zangoose said in that deep and gruff voice I remembered from earlier when the gun in his hand pointed towards me and BANG
Creepy pokemon places, events or otherwise, in my opinion
Lavender town, just having a literal tower of dead pokemon inside, also haunted. Not by just ghost pokemon, but LITERAL ghosts your pokemon don't even wanna deal with.
Ruins of Alph: the creepiest is when you solve a puzzle, drop down into a room, and you can turn your radio on to this creepy audio the unown supposedly use to communicate.
The Cinnabar Mansion. Things went down here that lead to the creation of Mewtwo... destructive things. All you have left is the destruction and journals left by the scientists
Sinjoh Ruins: probably lesser known, but in Heart Gold and Soul Silver, if you bring Arceus to the Ruins of Alph you are teleported somewhere north of Johto but South of Sinnoh. Take Arceus to the center of these creepy, snow covered ruins and he starts flashing EVERYTHING from the beginning of life til the end as he casually recreates one if the three Sinnoh dragon mascots and hatches them from an egg. The music is also ominous.
SS Cacnea/Sea Mauville. What happened to this place? Why is it just abandoned at sea?
Sinnoh has a bunch it's just a creepy place
The Chateau, literally haunted by ghosts that run around the corner of your eyes and remain out of view. You'll encounter Rotom here if you choose to watch TV.
The Hallowed Tower. Spiritomb is found here when you bring an odd keystone here to fix this pillar. Why is it hallowed? Why was he sealed here?
Under the Galactic HQ in Veilstone. You know how its implied in gen 1 that Mew and Mewtwo were hurt in the mansion in the name of science? How about the Lake trio, who btw are basically in the PROCESS of being tormented as Galactic remove the red gems from their bodies to form the red chain? Not to mention there are just tubes here with floating specimens.
Sendoff Spring and Turnback Cave. Sendoff Spring is the 4th hidden lake of Sinnoh, and Turnback Cave is a Labyrinth that may as well lead to hell. In DP, you find Giratina here, mr. 6 wings 6 legs and 6 spikes the renegade pokemon, presumably trapped here. In platinum, theres a portal directly connecting it to the Distortion World. First off, as if the thought of satan as a dragon isn't frightening enough, Sendoff Spring? And Turnback Cave? Boy, they were implying VERY unpleasant things here.
The Distortion World. Giratina's prison devoid of life. It's so eery, the laws of nature and physics can't even function correctly as it decays away. Giratina basically STALKS you in this realm after you enter.
Hall of Origin. This one may be confusing for you because this was around the time Masuda decided people were too dumb to work puzzles and decided to give away mythicals. There's a key item known as the Azure Flute that you play at the entrance to spear pillar, and a glass staircase forms. First off, the music is eerie enough, but you suddenly find Arceus here??? And his theme is horrifying, like you are DEFINITELY not supposed to be challenging God pokemighty to a fight with a flaming monkey. This is where the world was created, and it's so. So scary. There's no legal means of getting an Arceus by these means, not even in the original days because they thought we wouldn't be able to figure it out and just gave him to us. However, gameshark or action replay let's you get the item. I'd reccomend seeing it at least once.
The Canelave Cabin and Newmoon Island. So first off, you'll notice there's a little boy in a cabin who is trapped in a never ending nightmare. Finding Crescelia's feather wakes him up. However, a key item allows you to unlock a locked cabin in town. Reading a book makes you fall asleep, and suddenly you're confronting the source if these nightmares: Darkrai. It's a bit spooky to me anyway.
Unova has a couple of dark ones, maybe?
At Marvelous Bridge, there is a ghost girl that apparently used to play there with her abra.
Strange House: said girl lives in this haunted house. Now I might be reading too deep into this, but various texts refer to Crescelia, Darkrai, Hypno and Drowsee, and its implied that, perhaps, her father went off in search of a lunar wing to wake her up. It would seem she died waiting, but wanted to give the feather back to Crescelia. During your time here, you'll also have furniture rearranged to guide you to certain rooms.
N's room. N is already known to not quite be normal, no thanks to abusive Ghetsis brainwashing him, but here you see a toy room with an eerie music box version of his theme. It's as if to imply that yes, his childhood was very messed up.
Lacunosa Town isn't really too bad on the surface, except when you realize it was built to keep a certain dragon out that apparently had a taste for people.
The underwater ruins off the coast of Undela Bay indicate some sort of fallen kingdom. Here you find pieces that you can sell to maniacs for high prices, but there's a story here that has yet to be told... unless, like me, you maybe theorize it was from a war with a certain region.
Kalos isn't as bad location wise, but there's a few things here that really get to you.
The Lumiose Ghost. Go into a building elevator and a random girl floats around you, her walking animation frozen in place. She says "no. You are not the one."
There's also hidden writing in the train station. "I'm going to go for help. Wait in the usual place." Eerie. What could have happened here?
The stones near Geosenge. Now this is horrifying once you realize those are actually the bodies of DEAD POKEMON used to power AZ's ultimate weapon. You don't think much of it, but then it hits you like a brick when it is revealed.
Alola is generally sunny and pleasant, except:
The haunted supermarket. This is where you fight Totem Mimikyu and have to use the pokefinder to get around. Not only are you freaked out by the ghosts, but the room where you encounter Mimikyu literally is so creepy. Cute drawings on the wall, looking around, and suddenly, right behind you: there it is.
Lusamine's... collection. Just a collection of frozen pokemon, highly implied to be dead, frozen to keep them preserved and from turning "ugly." This is VERY unsettling once you realize you are SURROUNDED by these. And yes. Pikachu is one of them. Not even the mascot is safe.
The Aether labs where Silvally and Type Null were created, which implies terrible experiments being applied to create this poor beast.
The Ultra Megalopolis. This works is robbed of light. Not even the sun shines here. The people here are so affected that their skin is nearly blue. There isn't much to do here except fight Ultra Necrozma, but even that is a terrifying fight.
Guzzlord's location in USUM. The ultra beasts are implied to not be pokemon by a technicality, but this one technically is. In this wormhole you arrive to a world in ruins. You speak to the last man on earth, the rest of which fled the planet because it was so uninhabitable. Further investigation suggests this is an apocalyptic Hauoli City, which have sparking lights and posters, and a creepy, messed up remix. You find Guzzlord, a pokemon that eats away at the world left behind, and implied to actually be a mutated pokemon.
