misc thoughts on Issue #118 -

= That intro with Trini and Coinless Trini is the scene that made me realize how little Zack has gotten this entire event. Trini has gotten lots of focus and her perspective on this new romance with Zack but the most Zack has gotten was his little mentorship of Harturian Kid way before the event started. I guess his side of the romance is just "well he liked her enough to ask her out in freshman year and now he likes her again"? I know I always bring up how the SCT are ignored by the authors in favor of the Omegas but if we're being real, when we say "Omegas", we just mean "Jason and Trini." Which I really hate the implications there! Especially since Tommy/Kim and M*tt/Aisha have both had scenes where characters discuss their feelings with someone else. And also he won't act particularly upset over Harturian Kid being captured in a way that's like.......I get the idea is he's the more hopeful and supportive one, but the setup for conflict of him being upset over Harturian Kid's capture was right there

= Slayer taking a swing at Phantom Ranger for being an asshole to her was good. So was her leaving Rita to die. Slayer is the best part of this event to no one's surprise

= I don't care about Bulk and Skull my goddddd. The payment for M*tt not being in these last few issues is we have to force in Bulk and Skull instead

= YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAHHHHHHHH

= Zedd/Rita moment is still creepy and weird, really not a fan of this interpretation of their dynamic

= Trini/Zack/Jason get to have a cute little reunion after being separated for aaaaaa couple of weeks? Meanwhile as of this writing Aisha has gotten nothing onscreen with Rocky and Adam after she'll free them next issue hm hm hmmmmmmm that is just sooooooooooooooooooooooo. Also Tommy fighting a corrupted Adam and Rocky here was almost played for....comedy??? It's so weird how they want this to feel super serious and high-stakes (this is the issue where Billy basically looks into the camera and says "this event has been very serious with high stakes") yet they barely do anything with the inherent angst of corrupted Rangers in the first place beyond "oh no! they're corrupted!" and the corrupted Rangers making vaguely mean comments

= Also Trini being all nervous to talk to Zack here made me think they were going to draw out their hookup but they literally kiss in the next issue. so. And as I've said before, don't know why this event is supposed to be the worst thing ever yet characters can just chill at the Juice Bar. Shattered Grid did this better by putting the slower-paced moments in the actual context of scenes where plot progresses but would take time to happen in real life (like for instance, putting Jason/Lauren and Kim/Jen's bonding moments in scenes where they're traveling to their respective destinations)
