what kind of character influences are most looking for?

To be honest, we're open to any influences! You can get inspiration from the show itself and the tons of different types of characters there, but if you haven't seen the show or still need a little help, we've come up with some for you! (Here's a tip - there's a test you can take that will give you some character influences depending on how you fill it out, which you can find here. My fellow admins and I use it all the time!) Anger at the Protagonist

You know, I find it ironic.  Ever since Lena Luthor had discovered that Kara Danvers is Supergirl, she has been angry at the latter.  She has even declared her intention to get revenge for Kara’s deceit.  Many fans have debated whether Lena’s anger is justified or not.  But I have yet to come across fans who have labeled her as “irritating” or express dislike toward her.

Yet, it has been the opposite for Laurel Lance and Iris West.  Many fans have expressed dislike toward Laurel when she had expressed her continuing anger at the recently returned Oliver Queen for his past infidelity with her sister, Sara Lance back in early Season One.  In fact, their dislike toward Laurel for her very justified anger remained for quite some time.  Matters got worse when Laurel had spiraled into a depression and alcoholism because of her guilt over Tommy Merlyn’s death in Season Two.  And the fans’ contempt and hostility toward her increased tenfold.  

Iris had first learned that Barry Allen was the Flash when he told her.  Although she seemed surprised, but she did not react with anger.  Instead, both Iris and Barry ended up confessing their feelings for each other.  However, she barely had time to process Barry’s confession due to the latter being forced to stop a tsunami and accidentally running back in time.  Because of this, her memories of Barry’s confession was erased.  The next time Iris learned that he was the Flash, she had reacted with anger.  Why?  Because this time, did not bother to confess and she had to find out on her own.  And many fans reacted with hostility and contempt.

A part of me cannot help but wonder why Lena Luthor’s anger toward Kara Danvers was tolerated, but Laurel’s anger toward Oliver and subsequent Season Two depression was not.  Was this due to Lena’s anger being directed a a female antagonist, instead of a male one?  As for Iris, I suspect a good deal of the hostility toward her had a lot to do with racial politics, something that remains on-going.  Hopefully to a lesser degree.  Hopefully.

ABOVE are shown some of those upon whom the eyes of the swim fans rest with speculation. (1) George Bladgen of Tennessee is a rumored dark horse, who may splash his way into unexpected prominence during the day. (2) Norman Ross, the husky Chicagoan, whose performance is well-known in Toronto. Don’t overlook him when picking out the winners. (3) Anna Benoit, the darling of the swim, who just saves the event from being a stag party. Anna came fifth in the women’s swim and she is no pessimist. (4) Roland Tegtmeier, Seattle lumber jack, who has been frozen in past marathon swims with the best of them. (5). Clare Jinkisson, formerly of Toronto, boxer and diver, who has returned to the hold home town to take a crack at marathon swimming laurels. (6) Clarence Ross of Brooklyn, N.Y., another swim veteran. He came first in a series of former invitation swims here. (7). Marvin Nelson, the Iowa Kid with the big smile, is usually with those somewhere up in front. His trainers says he is better than ever. And (8) Louis Mathias of Long Island, is a long-distance cold water boy and may end up by doing anything to-day.

Oof another morbid quote, sorry. But it’s so so so so so effective in the way it’s a callback to another quote at the very beginning. (I seem to like callback quotes the most, idk why). Also, the book has the kind of ending that makes you put down the book and say “holy fuck“ to yourself for a good ten minutes after, and that quote fully sums it up.

Nickname: I have one that I got high school days for talking to myself loudly...Tourette’s. Kinda offensive, now that I think of it.

Zodiac: I used to think it was a load of bollocks, but I’m also the kind of dipshit who points to all the stuff attributed to Aquariuses going “yeah, checks out.”

Height: 6′3″, and I wear it well. 

Amount of sleep: If I fall asleep at 10 PM, I’m up at 4, then back down at 6. Sleeping in means waking up at 9 AM, and it never happens. 

Last movie I saw: Alita: Battle Angel, a film based on what was essentially my fave manga of all time. I have a lot of thoughts about it, but I can’t organize them or cobble them in any coherent fashion. Yet. I may never! Last thing I googled: the match card for Wrestlemania 35. From the Royal Rumble in January to Wrestlemania in April, I’m the wrestling fan I was when I became one in 1995. I’m really jazzed for it, even though it’s like, 8 hours this year.

Favorite musician: I don’t have just one, I don’t like questions like that. The new Nonlocal Forecast is essentially exactly the kind of music I want to hear right now, and the kind of music I’d make if I had any drive or ambition or talent.  Song stuck in my head: almost always, it’s AJ Styles’ theme music, “Your Love” by the Outfield, “the Burning Down” by King’s X, or the theme from the Last Unicorn.

Other blogs: I’m squatting on the name “thegreatclod” because I wanted it, but I’ve done nothing with it. For a while I was going to start a blog for Simpsons screencaps, then I realized there were 7,000 of them already on Tumblr, and then I was going to start a blog that was just Korra from the Legend of Korra with her big beefy back and arms. I still chew on that one.

Do I get asks: Not anymore! I kinda miss them. Like that one guy who had a pop at me for “dissing” voice actor Daran Norris for appearing in the film Hobgoblins.

What I’m wearing: A gray and black flannel, a black polo, sweatpants and socks. 

Dream trip: I love the idea of travel, and I’m not really jiving on the US right now. I would love to go to Scotland for a week. Germany for a week. And I just wanna see what Japan’s like.

Dream job: I mirror the sentiment that the older I get, the less into work I am, the less the idea of work appeals to me. I want to someday write a cartoon show, which...seems feasible, but the idea that it would have to be how I earn my living makes me...petulant, annoyed, depressed? Favorite food: Carrots and hummus, cheese (about all of it), potatoes (impossible to fuck up, and if you do, you stink at cooking), grilled cheese sandwiches. Basically all the stuff I learned to make when I left home. Languages: I know enough Spanish to carry on a decent conversation.

Play any instruments: none whatsoever. I want to learn, but I haven’t the time or patience for any of it.  Favorite songs: Again with this. Currently, “La Mule” by Malicorne,  “Ailleurs” by Benoit Pioulard, “Hey Moon” by John Maus, “The Discovery” by Harold Faltermeyer, and this goofy-ass mash-up of Shakria’s “Hips Don’t Lie” with a Danzig impersonator.

Random fact: if you look up my full name, you will come across Bing Crosby’s abused and estranged son, who killed himself with a shotgun at the age of 61. My name is dark karma. Describe yourself as aesthetic thing: Uhm...no? I wouldn’t know how to go about it. When I bought Laurel Halo’s Raw Silk Uncut Wood, the files showed up like this in the iTunes folder: 

I genuinely thought the cover of the album looked like that. That, combined with the fact that I still use Winamp, probably sums me up pretty well?
