Great profile of the @laundromat_proj in the @nytimes 🙌🏿 "At the Laundromat Project, Artists Are Ambassadors of Joy and Activism
A nonprofit that has been supporting community-based artistic ventures inaugurates its new home in Brooklyn." https://nyti.ms/3akjoWE
Reposted from @laundromat_proj At The LP, our work is built on a foundation of love and accountability to our communities and one another. We operate with a deep, unshakable commitment to a shared vision–a world in which artists and neighbors in communities of color work together to unleash the power of creativity to transform lives. A heartfelt thanks to @hilariesheets and @nytimes for the platform to share our story and celebrate our community and @dougsegars for capturing us so beautifully in images.
A special thank you to all the wonderful folks and neighbors that contributed to this article @derrickadamsny, @chiosse, @_mr.hollis.king, @blackownedbklyn, @thekendrajross, and #RiseWilson!
You might have caught another bit of news that made the story 👀…that’s right, Kemi Ilesanmi will step down as Executive Director at the end of the year, following 17 years of service to The LP. She will be succeeded by our current Deputy Director, Ayesha Williams. We look forward to celebrating this transition in the same way we celebrate all things at The LP––with love, joy, & gratitude.
➡️ Click the link in our bio to read Kemi’s reflections on the transition.

I've never been so stressed, so invested in anything to the point where my physical state has started taking some hits. I'm not sleeping, I'm not eating, I'm getting random bouts of nausea and I get a splitting headache every second hour of the day. I'm having to wear my glasses more often and I always have a coffee in my hand. I work on this film during the day then I work a late night shift at one of my two jobs- at which I also spend all of my weekends working between before spending the last of my Sunday going through the script for the umpteenth time and figuring out what else this film needs. I'm happy though, and I can't wait to share this film with the world.
