“Making work is about how one can produce the aesthetics of representation, which is about creating and sustaining spaces for different images to exist of black subjects, of queer subjects, of working class subjects.”

Inspired by the performance work of artist Lorraine O'Grady. September 1983 Lorraine O'Grady created a float that was a part of the African American Parade on 7th avenue in Harlem. On it was a huge guilded frame and performers on the float went into the audience placing frames around spectators having them become the art. It was entitled Art is... I was inspired by this performance and placed a frame as part of my booth for visitors to frame themselves as they would a work of art.
