summary: He wanted this conversation to be over and done with, snuffed out like a cigarette under his boot. It'd be easy enough to end it himself, all he had to do was be an asshole and leave you behind. Nothing he hadn't done before.

"Knock knock, mind if I join you?"

"Yes."

"I brought cake."

He turned his head slightly towards you, eyeing the paper plate in your hands. In it sat a pretty little slice of glazed strawberry cake with a plastic fork stabbed into it. You had made sure to pile on a bunch of strawberries, just for him.

You may have been the newest addition to the League of Villains, but it wasn't hard to figure out that he was intentionally a loner. Criminals were usually careful not to form close connections with others and the League was no exception. That didn't stop you from being on friendly terms with the other members. They even threw a birthday party for you tonight. With karaoke.

Whereas, Dabi evacuated the mansion at the first sign of a celebration. He rose from his chair when Toga and Twice carried out the cake hidden under a mountain of candles and he was out of the building by the time Mr. Compress enthusiastically joined in on their vocals with a harmonization.

His eyes glanced down at you as he blew smoke out of the side of his mouth and flicked his cigarette away. You frowned.

"That could start a forest fire."

"I could start a forest fire." There was a subtle twitch of his lip that would have went unnoticed had the clouds not cleared from in front of the moon in time.

You offered him the cake, which he took wordlessly, ignoring you as you snuffed out his cigarette. Once no longer lit, you shoved it in your pocket to properly dispose of later. You crossed your arms and leaned against the tree, staring out at the umbrous silhouettes of the night-time forest.

"Being this far out from the city is so nice. Fresh air, no noise pollution. Bunch of stars."

"There's noise pollution," Dabi swallowed down a strawberry. "Y'make it every time you open that dumb mouth."

You snorted in amusement. "You know you'd miss it if I stopped talking to you."

"If I never have to hear you yappin' at me again, it'd be too soon."

You playfully blew a raspberry at him in fake-annoyance. "You'd have to find someone else to bug you." You pursed your lips. "He's already got Toga, but I'm sure Twice could squeeze in a second best friend," you teased.

He rolled his eyes as he took another bite.

"Spinner?"

"The hell am I gonna talk about with that lizard?"

"First of all, it's a gecko quirk and you know that so don't be mean," you declared in defense of your comrade. "Though, you're right -- what would you talk about..? I assume that also means no Tomura, then? I don't think I've ever seen you guys talk casually before -- aside from the dryest conversation about the weather… Maybe if we find some common ground between you two--"

"Fuck no."

"Aww, hey, he's not that bad. He's just…"

You rubbed at your neck unsure of what to say. Nothing you could say would change his thoughts on the matter. You weren't particularly close with Shigaraki, he had his own way of going about things which could be off-putting to most, but he just struck you as an awkward person who grew up without much social contact.

"The League sure is full of lonely people, huh?" You looked back up at the star-filled night for a few minutes, the both of you settling into a comfortable silence. An owl hooted in the distance as a cricket began to chirp from somewhere nearby. "I've always wondered if shooting stars ever got lonely."

He raised a disinterested brow at you as he chewed on another strawberry.

"Sorry," you shook your head and laughed in embarrassment. "I like stars. Do you?"

"Stupid question."

You wondered if it really was that stupid. Stars must seem miniscule to someone capable of burning as brightly as him. You leaned your head against the trunk and watched him finish his cake.

Earlier in the day, while writing down a list of necessary ingredients to bake and decorate the cake, there had been a conversation about birthdays. You couldn't remember who exactly brought up the topic, but you certainly weren't expecting the other members to easily give away that information. Unsurprisingly, Dabi was the only one that didn't share his.

He followed a gust of wind that swept through the night and as he passed you he flicked his plastic fork at you. You clumsily caught it and complained, only earning his indifference in return. He turned his back to you and set the paper plate ablaze. You opened your mouth to remind him of trashcans and how they still exist, but the words died in your throat as you watched the smoke get carried away by the breeze, away from you.

You were secretly grateful that he was too busy making his way to an adjacent tree to notice you bite back a smile.

"Dabi."

"What is it now?" He leaned against his new tree and lazily shoved his hands in his pockets. He was always good at keeping his distance.

"You don't have to tell me your birthday."

He scoffed, "Way to state the obvious."

"We can share mine."

He narrowed his eyes at you, analyzing you for any sign of a punchline but your face was earnest. Annoyingly so.

"What makes you think I want your dumb-ass birthday?"

"It's not that I think you want it, but wouldn't it be nice to have a day to celebrate… you?"

"What's there to celebrate," he sneered. He didn't mean for it to be taken so seriously, but the dopey look of concern on your face made him regret he said anything. Your brows furrowed.

"A lot. There's a lot to celebrate."

"Don't get all mushy, you're creepin' me out."

"Am I?"

"Yes," he growled. He wanted this conversation to be over and done with, snuffed out like a cigarette under his boot. It'd be easy enough to end it himself. All he had to do was be an asshole and leave you behind. Nothing he hadn't done before.

Deep, deep down there was a hungry part of him that ached. It belonged to the part of him that he had refused to acknowledge for the past seven years. He continued to ignore it's existence despite it being the very thing that kept him rooted in place, as though he were one of the trees in this giant fucking forest. The frustration it filled his chest with made him want to light himself on fire.

"At the expense of sounding like a creep…" You chewed on your bottom lip as you stared back up at the stars. Your fingers fiddled with a loose thread on your clothes. You were so easy to read.

"I'm really glad you're here."

Another breeze passed between the two of you, carrying your words along and rustling leaves. You looked over at him with eyes that overflowed with a depth of sincerity that made him want to start a wildfire and let himself get caught in it. He felt physically ill.

 "You're gonna make me sick."

One of Dabi's eyes squinted more than the other as his tongue poked out of his mouth enough for you to see his tongue piercings. You would've thought it was cute the way his face scrunched in disgust if you didn't feel so offended right now.

You huffed and stared at the grass as you tried to ignore the heat that crept up to your cheeks. "Was it really that bad?"

"Cheesy as hell. Keep that shit to yourself."

You shook it off and sighed exaggeratedly. "Well, since you seemed to like it so much, I might have to do it again for you some time." You stuck your tongue out at him playfully.

"Don't you fuckin' dare or I'll roast you on the spot."

You grinned and opened your mouth to shoot him a lighthearted retort when you heard your name being called in the distance. You turned to look around the tree and saw Toga waving you over for your turn at karaoke. You waved back at the younger girl in acknowledgement before she hopped back inside the mansion.

"I'm surprised they managed to pry the mic out of Mr.'s hands long enough to give someone else a turn," you laughed. "See you later. I'm glad you liked the cake."

"Yeah, yeah."

He pulled out a pack of smokes from his jacket and stuck a cigarette in between his lips. He lit it and watched as you fiddled with the plastic fork he flicked at you earlier. "What're you still doing here for?"

You smiled at him.

"Happy birthday."

"Tch, cheesy," he spoke humorlessly as you turned away. "By the way..."

You looked back at him and felt your face burning up as you saw his gaze drop from your eyes down to your lips.

"…Dabi?"

He smirked.

"Y'got cake on your face."

You blinked a few times as you processed his words before swiping your mouth. You looked at your hand to see the vivid scarlet of the strawberry glaze.

"Oh." You looked at it for a moment before wiping it against your clothes and giving an awkward laugh, "Um, thanks."

"You got a room full of ears to make bleed, mine've had enough. Get outta here."

You laughed before you jogged back to the mansion. He stared at the ground where you previously stood and took a drag of the cigarette. With each inhale, the toxins purged his body of a restlessness that had been stirred by the zephyr of your words.

You talk too much. 

He looked up in time to see you wave goodbye at him before you disappeared inside. He breathed in another lungful of fumes before exhaling it up at the same sky that always seemed to captivate you.

"Happy birthday."

9. This isn't really promoting something I've made, but it was my (roundup writer)'s birthday this week, and I've been thinking some about the privilege of growing up. I've also been, and continue to be, very proud of Fourth Strike's song jam fundraiser from last year, where we raised over $1000 for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund. Speaking as myself and not as Fourth Strike for a moment, if anyone is looking for places to donate this holiday season, I'd be moved if you chose to donate to some of the many Palestinian relief funds still looking to meet their goal.

Also more delulu take but I think the Maruki's palace event will be relased on march, thus finishing the crossover events with P5 a little before the game turns 1 year old. And kickstarting either crossover with Reload or Golden. Thus giving us at least 2 more years of crossover content. And maybe if p6 is really relased in 2025, they might even do a crossover with that once they finish the modern trilogy (im not sure if they will touch p1 and p2 till those get a remake)

The Castle Chapter was not split into two parts; so far every Palace has gotten one single event that covered that chapter completely. Even when two chapters are connected by the story, they've still been (at least mostly) separate events! The Museum and Bank chapters shared some features, but the chapters themselves were still separate. I thought this was relatively clear with how I've organized the summary posts, but let me know if there's a way I can make that more obvious!

If we do the math, it's possible that the Royal collab could take much longer than you're suggesting, unfortunately. Assuming they continue the same schedule, the updates in the future should look like this:

The summer event was also a set of event updates, if you recall, and we're set to get our next three event updates right around December and the start of next year! That seems like prime time to have another event, to me. And the next event update falls right around Valentine's Day, which we know we're getting some kind of event for! I'm not sure if both of these updates will be for holidays instead of the collab, or if they might celebrate the holidays in some other way (the 6-month anniversary just gave rewards), but I think it's worth considering both the best and worst-case scenarios here.

Best-case scenario, like you implied, we get the last part of the original collab in the event updates from December 5th to January 2nd, adding Crow and wrapping up that collab. Then, the Royal collab only lasts one event update, from February 13th to March 13th, adding both Violet and Black Mask.

Two other possible scenarios I can imagine, however:

1) The December 5th to January 2nd update is a holiday event, and then the February 13th to March 13th update is the Valentine's Day event, meaning the original collab doesn't end until the April 24th to May 22nd event update, and then they add Royal in the July 10th to August 7th update after.

2) They stick to an alternating schedule for collab events vs. other events, so the December 5th to January 2nd update is a holiday event, then the February 13th to March 13th update is a collab event update. The April 24th to My 22nd update is another holiday/other event, and we get Royal in the July 10th to August 7th update.

It also feels possible they could push the Royal event out even further, for any number of reasons, but I don't think we'll know for sure until they announce some future update plans, heh. But these all feel reasonably possible to me.

Definitely, though, I agree there's plenty of things left for them to cross over with, heh! If the first three Persona games ever get remakes, I'd absolutely love to have collabs with them as well, but given the book with the SMT: If... reference, I do have this small (probably unrealistic) glimmer of hope that they might consider collabs with them even if remakes aren't announced any time soon, especially if they've finished collabs with the other modern Persona games by that point. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Why don't you write for Criminal Minds anymore? Why are you hesitant to write for Criminal Minds again?

I answered this more in depth right here.

But basically, I had a lot of unpleasant experiences with rude comments in the fandom, and it really dampened my desire to want to write for those characters. So I moved on to writing for other characters from other fandoms that make me happy.

However, going into 2025, I would like to try again to write for this fandom and remember why I love these characters in the first place. So I may be posting more Criminal Minds fics in the future, you will just have to follow me and keep an eye on my blog in order to find out.

What happened to Careful (your Dad!Spencer fic)? I can't find it!

I deleted the fic from Tumblr. I gave more of an explanation about that here. You can still find it on AO3, because I didn't want to delete the fic from an archive, but my AO3 is archive locked, so you will need an account to view it.

Are you going to continue Lessons For A Genius?

Maybe. But I am definitely not in a rush to continue it.

I labelled Lessons For A Genius as a 'capsule series' on my masterlist because I intended it to be a series of oneshots with no clear overarching story, and therefore - no clear need for an 'ending'. I intended each of the fics to be able to be read as a oneshot satisfyingly without missing out on some of the story. Right now, the series is over, and if I write anything more for it, it will be bonus smutty content, not some greater story.

I do have a note about this in my pinned post, but I will keep reminding people about it. It's definitely not my favourite thing because I know it makes my writing less accessible, but the purpose is to protect my writing against spam comments from bots and to protect against potential AI scraping that would steal my writing without my permission.

A lot of the fics on my different masterlists use AO3 links because that is the only place those fics are posted on the internet right now. I am sorry if that means you can't read them, but I would highly, highly recommend getting an AO3 account. Once you put your email address on the wait-list for one, you will eventually get an email in order to get an account. And then you have that account forever.

Also, just a general note - make sure you are logged into your account before and after you click AO3 fic links because that might be part of your problem. And make sure that you are not using an AO3 app, because there is no official apps, and I don't know what archive locking does in terms of an app - but I do not give consent for my work to be read on fake AO3 apps. Just use the mobile browser.

Yes!

Sometimes I consider posting more of my old kpop fanfics on AO3, but I'm not sure there's enough interest for that. Also on my old kpop blog, the first fandom I ever actually posted fic for there was 5 Seconds of Summer - just as a lil fun factoid.

Will you ever write a sequel to (insert fic title here)?

Most likely, no.

For the most part, if I write a oneshot (or even a multi-part fic), then I intend for it to be a stand alone story with a satisfying beginning, middle, and (hopefully) a satisfying ending. I want all my fics to be satisfying on their own without the need for a continuation, and I do find it bothersome when people only hound me for 'more'.

With most of my fics, I do have some desire to write a continuation - when it comes to my fics, it's probably 80% where I can imagine some continuation and 20% where I think that there is absolutely 0 potential for any kind of continuation. But I don't always want to spend the time writing sequels and continuations because I want to move on to writing new ideas and having fun exploring other things.

If there is a fic of mine that you particularly love and you really want to see a sequel to, you can ask me about it politely and you could even provide me with some potential ideas of where you'd like to see the sequel go, but for the most part, I write oneshots as singular stand alone fics that will never be continued while I move on to other ideas.

Farewell CT-155: RCAF Retires Hawks, Halting Pilot Training Within Canada

Royal Canadian Air Force announced that it will retire its CT-155 fleet and go on a period of hiatus for its pilot training program.

On March 8, 2024, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) announced that it will officially be retiring its fleet of CT-155 Hawk advanced trainer aircraft. 419 Tactical Fighter Training Squadron (419e Escadron d’entraînement à l’appui tactique), in charge of training the RCAF’s fixed wing fighter pilots, have held a cessation of operation ceremony last Friday in Cold Lake, Alberta. The occasion also marked the beginning of a period of hiatus for the RCAF’s fixed wing training ops. This decision stems from the air force’s decision to transition its current CF-18 fleet to the F-35A. As of now it is yet unknown how long the RCAF will cease its flight training ops for.

CT-155 Hawk ends its 24-year service with the RCAF

The decision to phase out the aging CT-155 fleet has been long forthcoming. With the RCAF’s contract with CAE for training its pilots on the CT-155 ending this year and the decision to acquire F-35s approved, the time to overhaul the Hawks have finally come. The CT-155 Hawks, originally built to the Hawk 115 standard, is based on a 30 plus year old design at heart, despite its upgrades. A total of 22 aircraft were initially delivered to the RCAF, mainly flying with 419 squadron and a handful with 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (CFFTS / 2e École de pilotage des Forces canadiennes)

For the last 24 years the CT-155 Hawk has served with the RCAF as their main advanced trainer aircraft, serving as the last step before student pilots moved onto the CF-18 Hornets. A typical training course for a fixed wing fighter would go through four training phases, of which Phase III and IV would be on the CT-155. Student pilots would spend a total of 80 flying hours in the CT-155 initially at CFFTS during Phase III training on before moving onto 419 TFTS for Phase IV. During Phase III training the fast-jet candidates train on basic manoeuvres, which upon completion are awarded their Pilot’s Wings. Phase IV involves 48.9 flying hours of basic fighter training in preparation for their roles on the CF-18. Despite the airframe’s outdated origins, the CT-155 was fitted with a modern glass cockpit with multifunction displays and Heads-Up Display that uses symbology similar to that on the CF-18, along with basic avionics such as Hands On Throttle And Stick (HOTAS) for preparation on flying 4th generation fighter aircraft.

However, with the RCAF’s decision to replace the aging CF-18 fleet with the F-35A, the need for a new training jet to prepare for the 5th generation fighter has become apparent. Especially with the Canadian government’s deal to buy 88 F-35As being announced on Jan. 9, 2023, the Hawk fleet have started to become outdated. While the RCAF is in search for a suitable training aircraft, the national fast jet training program has been put on hold.

RCAF to turn to NATO partners for pilot training in the meantime

During its period of hiatus, the RCAF will partner with its allies to train their future fighter pilots. One of the first steps of this interim solution is mainly through the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program based at Sheppard Air Base, Texas. Future RCAF pilots will also be diverted to other NATO countries with similar programs such as the Fighter Lead-in Training (FLT) in Finland and the International Flight Training School in Italy. Officials have noted that there will be two instructors and six students in Italy by 2025. The ENJJPT in the US offers the USAF’s updated T-38, which the RCAF have been part of since the program’s beginning in 1981. From now there will be up to seven students sent to the US under the scheme. Finland, another country that operates the F/A-18, will be able to offer the RCAF students another variant of the Bae Hawk as part of their program. Most notably, IFTS in Italy is also currently training RAF students due to the ongoing issues with their training pipeline back home. Currently the IFTS offers a training course based on the T-346. The T-346 can provide adequate training for 5th generation aircraft with most equipment that can be found on modern frontline fighter aircraft such as Voice Control Inputs (VCI), Helmet Mounted Display (HMD), and even an NVG module for the HMD allowing for night operations training.

According to LCol Kean on the day, while the squadron is on hiatus from operations its personnel will support other units at 4 Wing Cold Lake, awaiting the planned reactivation of the squadron in the early 2030s. Until then, the squadron will remain administratively active, so that it can resume its role as the RCAF’s Tactical Fighter Training Squadron. On the other hand, the CT-155 Hawks will eventually move to the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering at Canadian Forces Base Borden, Ontario, where they will support the training of RCAF aircraft technicians.

While no official program has set to replace the CT-155, it appears that Boeing is already making its move to pitch its T-7A Red Hawk as the next generation fighter training aircraft to the RCAF. Developed in conjunction with Saab, the T-7A won the USAF’s T-X program in 2018 to replace the T-38 fleet. Former general officer Charles Sullivan has been on record that “I would love to see the Snowbirds fly the T-7.” With the T-7A being the newest of the current generation advanced trainer aircraft, it should be carefully noted if the program would secure its first export customer in the coming years.

Ed is my very first heart horse, I got him on 05.06.2021 straight off the track as a 3yo but I’ve known him since he was 2yrs! He’s a 7yo (DOB 10.12.2017) 163cm/16hh bay standardbred gelding by Live Or Die out of an Elsu mare called Ariana Angel. He raced 5 times as a 3yo pacer and couldn’t beat his own shadow home 🙈 He’s my absolute best man and will be with me til one of us dies, he’s my weekend happy hacker and pony club extraordinaire as well as being a super endurance horse! He likes to live life in the slow lane and doesn’t enjoy big competitions so much but in the past I’ve show jumped him to 55cm and he’s done an eventing round of 45cm. He has the softest puppy dog eyes and golden retriever personality and loves his wonky donkey ear scratched or tickle his chin and he’ll be your best friend!

He was leased out to Waimakariri River Horse Treks as part of their trekking string from February to September 2024, originally I wasn’t going to get him back until Jan 2025 but due to Molly being PTS he was very kindly returned and I’m slowly working on my confidence and rideability with him ❤️

Ouruhia Gem - Gem

Gem is a 7yo 155cm/15.2hh bay pinto mare by Shebeau (Irish cob x TB x PGP stationbred) and out of the thoroughbred mare Ruby Ashley who is by Raise The Flag. I got her as a foster from the SPCA in early September 2022 when she came to one of the West Coast centres as an inspector seizure/neglect case, was fed up and loved on, and then sent down to my centre on a surgery recommendation for her umbilical hernia (which she didn’t actually end up needing) and I adopted her in December 2022! Both myself and my mum fell in love with her (oops 🙈) and I gifted her to mum as a Xmas present ❤️

I backed her myself in summer 2023 and I’ve really enjoyed playing around with her! She went to a professional schooling yard to get some buttons installed during April 2023 and mum has been having a blast riding her in pony club rallies and forest hacking! She’s a nosey little tart and loves getting her own way but she’s a very sweet and very genuine little horse with a lot of try - in November 2023 she had her first eventing start at 45cm and absolutely smoked the cross country, as well as having her first endurance ride around a 12km lagoon track which she loved! Recently she’s also placed 5th in her first 24km endurance ride but there’s no doubt she’s bred to jump, the little tart loves it!

Currently she’s happily competing in pony club team events at 45-55cm but has a whole lot of scope to go higher! She scores consistently in the low 60%+ in dressage but that’s more because I have no idea what I’m doing, not her lack of talent 🤷‍♀️

NZPHS Pixie’s Dream Girl - Pixie (CURRENTLY ON LEASE)

Pixie is an 11yo chestnut pinto miniature horse of unknown breeding and stands approx 36” tall. I got her on 02.09.2023 as an ESA/therapy horse in training but mainly as my little running friend to motivate me to get out of bed every day! I’m aiming to do some endurance with her and potentially some inhand showing too. She’s registered with the New Zealand Pinto Horse Society and has really enjoyed being fussed over and loved on by tween girls as a party pony for my friend’s lesson kids!

Pixie is currently on lease to an awesome family teaching their young kids how to look after their own little pony!

Khant Catch Her - Molly

Molly is a 6yo (DOB 16.11.2017) 16hh dark bay thoroughbred mare by Mongolian Khan out of the Iffraaj mare Jenuwin. I got her on 07.03.2024 as my next pony club mount and so far she’s the sweetest wee girl I’ve ever met! She raced 12 times for only 4 placings and never came better than 3rd, and retired off the track in 2022. I got her with the intention to start eventing which never really happened, but she qualified at both rides of the Winter Endurance Series at 11kms!

She was put down on 10.09.2024 due to kissing spines and her body will be used as a teaching tool for other riders to understand anatomy better. RIP my sweet girl, the time was short but I take a piece of you with me wherever I go ❤️

Nakada Hiroki (updated Jan 2025)

I’ve been really fascinated by this stage actor’s work recently, and of course it doesn’t hurt that he has such a beautiful face and build (he did, after all, sign on with Oscar Promotion as a model when he first entered the entertainment industry!) That said, he has had a really difficult 2020 and I am so glad that the run of Musical Touken Ranbu’s Kotobuki (5th Anniversary celebration) was completed safely. May the rest of this year be plain-sailing for all his scheduled projects! Anyway, I wrote up this profile in case anyone who’s just begun watching Toumyu (or any other show he’s been in) develops an interest in learning more about him.

Background:

He left home at the age of 18 with a dream in his heart of becoming an actor, but chickened out of actually starting out and worked various part-time jobs (including one in an izakaya) in Sendai instead. He had a late start in the entertainment industry compared to his peers because he lacked confidence about whether he could make it, and when he finally decided to pursue his dreams and join the entertainment field in his mid-20s, he sent out over a hundred handwritten resumes but was rejected continuously by agencies (perhaps due to age and lack of experience). He was eventually accepted as a model by Oscar Promotion in 2013, and studied acting by renting movies and paid for sword-fighting lessons out of his own pocket while taking on small commercial roles as a rookie actor.

His big break came in 2015 when he landed the role of Takasugi Shinsaku in the 2.5D stage adaptation of Haruka 5. Fans took notice of his good looks and steady swordwork. His next big break came when he landed the role of Yayoi Haru in the 2016 stage adaptation of Tsukiuta, which he sustained for 5 full acts. He refined his dancing ability during the two years he was with the cast. He graduated very reluctantly from Tsukista in 2018. It broke his heart to leave the cast, whom he considered a family, but he’s moved on to bigger and brighter roles ever since.

He’s known for immersing himself emotionally and completely in whatever role he has been given. He believes that he must convey the roles right down to his fingertips each time, and he has always managed to do so. He’s always been called a yasashii oniisan (gentle older brother) by the younger actors who have had the privilege to work with him. He is currently working on improving his singing to do better in musicals and might perhaps take on more voice work as his voice has been praised for its unique quality.

The following is also a translation of a critique from one of the directors who has worked with him,  Kōtarō Yoshitani, in Sengoku Musou and Musical Code: Realize. It was shared on Twitter.

In the words of Kōtarō Yoshitani:

Nakada Hiroki is an actor with a glamorous appearance, but feels like an artisan. He approaches his roles with very steadily. He is a serious character and very diligent. He repeatedly asks himself questions about his performance as he goes along. He thinks about the role he's been given and dives into that world view. With his neat face, you'd think he'd be a little less muddy, but he's got a lot of passion inside him. He has an insatiable appetite for theatre. It is a rare thing to find a performer who is so smart and yet so muddy, and it is a great weapon for a performer. If a performer's image on the outside is the same as that of the inside, it may not be as appealing or as interesting to explore. Nakada is a man who has a lot of things that drive him visually, but it is not enough to judge him only by his visuals, it's his depth that is his true appeal. That's why he makes you feel interested with his visuals and then pulls you in with his true charm on stage.

You might think he'd look good in Japanese costumes, but he'd look great in Western clothes too. If you look inside, you can see a passionate heart, but if you look at the visuals only, you might think he is a cold-hearted person. He laughs both like an adult and like a child. He is clear and elusive. He is at home in both showbiz and traditional theatre. He looks well in comedy, but he could also be a dark hero who doesn't smile at all. What a mysterious actor. And yet, I don't think he is considered strange. That's what makes him so fascinating. That is why he can be any colour in the world of the play.

I met him on stage in "Sengoku Musou" and in the musical "Code Realize". One character was just and the other was mild, a study in opposites, but both were full of Nakada’s charm. In other words, the director can ask him to be anything. I don't have to tell you that this is a very important quality for an actor. That's why I described him at the beginning as a craftsman. But to describe him in that way may be out of tune with his nature. If I see him again, will I be able to see his true self?

The NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs on Saturday, January 5th, 2019, at 8:29 PM EST.

An annular Solar Eclipse occurs on Saturday at 15 degrees and 25 minutes of Capricorn. Its effects can be felt up to six months after the actual date of the eclipse. In the Saturn-ruled sign of Capricorn, public life, career, reputation, achievement, and accountability are in sharp focus. This eclipse is about new beginnings regarding all of these matters.

This is a time for setting practical, attainable goals; working on developing maturity and common sense in the personality; considering the future, and preparing for it; focusing on concrete ways of developing self- discipline and self-mastery; finding ways to give satisfying form to wishes; making commitments and recognizing responsibilities; accepting that we are limited, and that, ironically, some of our limitations truly free us to explore deeper dimensions of experience by offering us a secure foundation, and nurturing our dreams in a realistic fashion.

Capricorn teaches us that recognizing our limitations actually frees us to focus on what matters, where we are, who we are, and where we want to go. With the potent Capricorn energy of the Solar Eclipse, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle. For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to these matters. Flaws in an important system in our lives are revealed around the time of the eclipse, prompting us to redo or to start fresh. Something ends in order for something else to start anew. We may be called to give up something in order to move forward into a new chapter in our lives. Although the “new” may be unrecognizable, it is important to allow the necessary surrender to the unknown.

Major developments in the personal areas ruled by Capricorn in our charts are likely to occur over the course of the next 3-6 months. However, because this is part of a series of eclipses falling in Cancer-Capricorn, we can extend this range further. The last eclipse falling along this axis will occur in July 2020. Not everyone will feel the effect of the eclipse with the same intensity. Those whose personal planets are activated by the degree of the eclipse will most feel its effects on a personal level.

Solar eclipses occurred at approximately the same degree as this January 2019 eclipse on January 4, 1973, January 4, 1992, and January 4, 2011. It might help to think back to these periods and consider the themes that surrounded your life at that time in order to get a better understanding of what the current eclipse series might mean for you. Most recent previous eclipse sets falling along the Cancer-Capricorn axis occurred from July 2009 to July 2011, July 2000 to June 2002, July 1990 to December 1992, July 1981 to June 1983.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 15 degrees and 25 minutes of Capricorn, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 10 to 20 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Capricorn; Mercury is in Sagittarius until January 4th, after which Mercury is in Capricorn; Venus is in Scorpio; Mars is in Pisces to the 31st, after which Mars is in Aries.

The Sun is in Capricorn from December 21-January 20. We are motivated by feelings of responsibility, ambition, and respect for law and order. Capricorn derives much satisfaction in completion and accomplishment. Standards, structures, and an appreciation for order are Capricorn themes. Capricorn wants tangible results, knows what is feasible and what is not, and is most comfortable working within an established framework and known boundaries or limits. Working towards a long-term goal is most satisfying with this influence.

Mercury is in Sagittarius from December 12, 2018-January 4, 2019. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. Ideals are sought, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.

Mercury is in Capricorn from January 4 to 24, 2019. When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking is methodical and our focus is sober and practical. It is easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized. We are more able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes important to us. We need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. For some, there is a fine line between realism and pessimism.

Venus is in Scorpio from December 2, 2018-January 7, 2019. Deeply passionate relations are the focus with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not satisfy now, as we yearn for “body and soul” contact with someone special–contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that is unforgettable. This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is a passionate, sensual, and intense energy. Our relationships are immensely important to us, and we may even feel that they consume us. In fact, we tend to want to be consumed by them! Our drive is toward intense closeness, but blind faith in our partners is extremely hard for us now. Fears of being too vulnerable or of giving up our own power to others are strong. Scorpio is an “all or nothing” energy, and relationships tend to be somewhat of a rollercoaster ride as a result. Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel us to create crises in order to feel alive and vital.

Mars is in Pisces from November 15-December 31. We tend to feel less motivated to go after traditional goals, and more motivated to pursue spiritual or emotional drives during this cycle. We dislike confrontation during this trend. Our output is variable rather than straightforward, and our energy is similarly up and down. We may put others’ needs ahead of our own, and our more idealistic side comes to the fore. During this cycle, going after what we want becomes less straightforward and more complicated!

Mars is in Aries from December 31-February 14. Mars feels at home in one of the signs that it rules, Aries, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident. Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.

We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
