1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?

I started with art, then began writing, then started animating, and recently uploaded a fanvid 😅

I'm proud of them all because they are all part of the progress 😌

2. What fandom(s) do you create for?

Supergirl. I'm counting my Sadie/Saskia vid as supercorp.

3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?

Supercorp. And apparently a lot of people don't like them because they hated supergirl? (At least according to tumblr tags in polls. But those people also accuse them of being too straight...)

4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?

They are in my heart. Also, I feel that their last conversation was as close to canon as they could get.

5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?

I was deep into Harry Potter for a long while in my life. That's what got me into fanfiction and tumblr. I still have a sweet spot for what it represented to me in my childhood and the stuff I took away from it despite the actions of some extreme lady.

6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?

My Twilight Au fic 🤣

Was written as a parody, but somehow ended up being way too wholesome.

The power of pasta is my one crack fic, so there's also that.

7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?

I was an avid consumer for years, but it was all thanks to the Supergirl fandom that I dared to try and create something. I was in the process of coming out and accepting myself for who I am, which, despite being in a very open and accepting environment and family, was really hard on me. Both the show, and especially the fandom, were what helped me not only to come out but also to see it in a positive light. It made me understand the meaning of pride, and I am forever grateful for that. That's why I decided to dedicate my time to creating stuff myself as thanks to this amazing community and to do my best to keep it active.♥️

8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?

Some, yes. I have a few friends who know I write, but had not read any of my stuff. I have a few I share my art with, though.

9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?

Someone wrote a fic based on my art a while ago, and I'm still excited about it!

10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?

Depends on the content. Each piece has its own purpose. I try to aim for fluff, but I've been told I accidentally write a lot of angst... oops?

11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?

I'm always excited when fandom friends tell me they like my stuff. Or just anyone in general. It just warms my heart.

12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!)

Have you read the most recent space log update? It's pretty cool...

13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share)

"Alex, you're saying that as if we're not literally standing at the entrance of a school for fairies." Kara said as she rested her hand on the handle of her large blue suitcase.

"Fair point."

"It is ridiculous, isn't it? Like, fairy collage, it just sounds so…"

"Bizarre?" Alex raised an eyebrow as a small chuckle escaped her lips.

Kara sheepishly nodded.

"Well, yes. Very. But that's our lives now, I suppose," Alex shrugged and shoved her hands in her jeans's pockets.

"You mean my life. You're going to badass school for ass kicking," Kara teased her sister.

Because apparently I'm not done making AUs based on questionable IPs.

Lena was the one to drag Andea to sneak out of school for a change. Only unlike her best friend, Lena didn't drag her out to a party or to drink alcohol, but instead to the local game shop where she could learn more about that mysterious game. Andrea wasn't as excited as her, but reluctantly agreed (if only to get out of trigonometry class). Fight for Justice, while being a bit too cheesy, Lena couldn't deny the strange allure of the name. She was fascinated to learn the different ways the game could change from moment to moment, the various objectives one can approach to win the game, and she couldn't help but absolutely adore the art on each and every card.

14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)

Rich girl with issues is a masterpiece, and you should all go read it!

15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style?

I try to always comment, and especially on stuff I like. I don't think I have a specific style tho😅

16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all?

I have about 12 that I actively started, but more that are in the concept phase. Ideally, I'll finish them all eventually.

17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?

It's been almost 2 years since I started The Art Of The Game. I'm close to the end, but it's been a while...

18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published!

19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it?

I feel like a foreigner when I see stuff from other fandoms, and I usually don't know enough about it to interact with it.

○ favorite color: don't have one specifically, but i grew up around pink things (pink bedroom, pink furniture, pink paraphernalia, etc.) so i've come to obtain a number of pink-coloured items. really love black for clothes and things too!

I like fanvids and edits on tiktok but whenever I get videos about books...dear god, it's like getting slapped in the face. (This is about Stephen King's Carrie.)

So, yesterday I happened to see a video where a girl was complaining about how Stephen King described Carrie, in particular her body and how she got her first period. However, the whole thing was very... vague. What i got was that "he was creepy and disgusting and he should have never been allowed to write about underage girls". (Does this remind you of anything???? Because this does remind me of some specific fandom discourse... but I digress) so I went to the comment section, and 99% of the comments were actually about THAT infamous IT scene. So, yeah, it wasn't very enlightening as to what the fuck was wrong with King's depiction of Carrie...

So, let me ramble a bit about this.

I first read Carrie (in the italian translation) when I was about...14/15 I think. (So, about 23 years ago, for reference.) Bought a cheap paperback at the supermarket (yes). And I read it and re-read it. I think I know some bits by heart. I loved it. And why? Let me tell you.

First of all, as a teen who felt awkward and fucking ugly, I saw a lot of myself in Carrie. The descriptions of her body, which apparently creeped out those people in the tiktok video, felt right to me. It conveyed disgust and curiosity and the potential for pleasure. Idk if you get what I mean...

(Also, btw, all the people grossed out on tiktok forget that Carrie is actually at least 16 in the story so...i mean, she's not a baby. Also the story is set in the 70s if I remember correctly, and you don't need to have a history degree to know that at the time people...well, were doing a lot of "grown up stuff" around 16/17. That's just how...it was. But apparently gen z have no sense of history whatsoever.... sorry.)

Moreover, people were getting offended (so I gathered) because King was "kinda disgusting and creepy" because he wrote about Carrie getting her first period like that. *major sigh here*

Look, i got my first period when I was 11. And it was fucking traumatic for me. Basically, i've been having periods longer than the people in the video and comments have been alive. Periods are nasty, uncomfortable and a pain in the ass. They're gross... they suck. King described the whole thing in a way that felt...real. (and also symbolic in a way, but this is for another time.)

A man can't write about it? Why? No, don't answer... i'm afraid i know the reasoning behind this brand of idiocy.

I gathered that they complained about the sexual undertones. Have those people ever been teenagers? Teens have sex on their minds quite a lot. I was like that and I was also pretty annoying and weird about it.

And lots of the comments were about how King was high on coke most of the time back when he wrote his most famous stuff and I was... baffled. Lots of artists have created great stuff while being high as fucking kites... y'all are clearly not so open-minded and accepting of drugs as you claim to be if you're dismissing King's writing because he was on drugs.

Also, one last thing that made me laugh:

Someone in the comments wrote that "King is considered high art while twilight is considered crap". My sibling in Christ, I can assure you that Stephen King is definitely not considered high art anywhere. He's a genre writer and genre writers are basically never considered high art. Like, at all.

Three Ships

Buck x Eddie (9-1-1) - They’ve had a grip on me since early 2020 when they showed up on my dash and have never let go since. I have no clue if they’ll ever go canon, but I’m going to root for them always.

Pacey x Joey (Dawson’s Creek) - I can’t call them my first ship, but it’s a close damn thing. I remember watching DC every week and just despising Dawson. I know it was technically his creek, but damn was he annoying, especially when he was with Joey. And then there was Pacey. Still one of my favorite television characters ever. They were so cute together and seasons 3 & 4 of the show were just excellent, mostly because of their chemistry and how many scenes they shared.

Bella x Jasper (Twilight) - Team Edward/Team Jacob, who? To be honest, I don’t really know where this one came from. I have just been in the mood recently to read some Bella x Jasper fic, and luckily there are some excellent ones out there. These moods have always ebbed and flowed, but this pairing always seems to come back every so often and they’ve got a grip on me right now. I’ve even started rewatching clips from the movies (??? what am I doing with my life???) and looking for fanvids on YouTube. I’ve always gone for the unexpected/rare pairings, I guess. Thank fuck for fanfic and fan created works.

First Ship

Kimberly x Jason (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) - Does it make sense? Not so much. But I haven’t ever made sense, even as a child. I always remember being mad that Kimberly got with Tommy and would think up scenarios that could change canon even way back then. I was writing fanfic in my head before I even knew what it was. I wasn’t joking about those unexpected/rare pairings.

Volcano Girls by Veruca Salt - Alternative rock has always been my number one genre, particularly 90s alt rock and female-led bands are badass. This song is so kickass.

Puppet History - Doing a complete rewatch of the series, now that the latest season is finished. I do a lot of rewatches, I’ve noticed, lol.

Good Omens - I saw stuff on Tumblr when the first season came out, but I was able to get the DVD set from the library and I’m finally watching it the whole way through.

Ghosts (CBS) - I watch this one every week with my mom and my aunt.

Following the death of his mentor Luther at the hands of the vindictive crime lord Lonnegan, Johnny Hooker's dreams are filled with death. Through bouts of fitful sleep and waking nightmares, he somehow finds himself in Chicago and in the presence of Henry Gondorff, an enigmatic old conman and a good friend of Luther's. Gondorff apprehensively agrees to help get revenge for their mutual partner, and finally, the dreams of shootouts and stabbings and blood begin to ebb. But somehow Hooker's waking world has become even more peculiar... and he can't figure why all of Gondorff's friends, even his closest allies, only call him Shaw.

Gondorff is not what he seems. The king of the fae escaped into the human world uncounted years past, and only the last meager vestiges of his power have kept him shrouded from the hunting parties of his old court, living a drunken human half-life in the shadow of who he once was. This is fine with "Shaw." But Luther got tangled up in Lonnegan -- the human shell of his mutinous advisor -- and Oberon is bound by Hooker's unwitting possession of his true name to claim an eye for an eye. Yet Hooker is not quite what he seems, either. His brutish act hides his scared, vulnerable, human core. And Gondorff likes the kid. So he quietly brushes away Hooker's nightmares where he can, and gathers his connections both mortal and fae for one last con.

a scene-for-scene description of the rest of the video:

one day hooker overhears gondorff in conversation with an impish man... discussing lonnegan with words like fairy, using names like oberon. the imp notices hooker just as gondorff explodes -- "hooker couldn't leave limbo even if he wanted to. until lonnegan's gone, hooker stays. im not letting that fae bastard get to him," and stalks off.

later, hooker sustains further waking injuries in his dreams. when gondorff offers him a drink, hooker -- not entirely believing what he's heard, but still suspicious of what he meant -- refuses and asks when he can leave. gondorff is shocked into hurt silence and changes the subject.

hooker is thrashed by lonnegan outside oberon's realm of influence, and gondorff can only peer worriedly into the dream from afar as lonnegan lies and sows doubt in hooker's mind about gondorff.

gondorff's night is sleepless, as he dwells on hooker's distance and distrust.

but gondorff is the consummate professional. in his human guise shaw brazenly cheats lonnegan out of his wallet

as lonnegan's fury bubbles over, he sends his cronies to track down hooker in the night and kill him for good. running for his life -- no longer in a dream -- he hits a dead end and panics. but suddenly he sees in his mind's eye, clear as day, the human shaw. he lights his cigar and with one flick puts out the match. and in the same flick hooker is suddenly sitting in an ornate chair, in an expensive lounge, dressed in a fine suit, hair gelled... with gondorff smoking casually in the corner, as if nothing strange at all happened.

"you did that? you can do that?"

the real con graciously exposed, gondorff tells an amazed johnny everything, and demonstrates a few impossible tricks that in time even hooker could master. johnny is enthralled. but there's still lonnegan, and there's still... well, reality, out there. the human world that hooker belongs to. but when gondorff begrudgingly tells him the truth, hooker finds himself faced with an impossible choice.

on the day of the last con, with both lonnegan and synder in their trap, hooker betrays shaw and leaves, as lonnegan planned. but in a rage -- with the dreams colliding all at once -- oberon shoots from the hip, and no one is there to save hooker as he falls to the ground. a fed instantly shoots down oberon, to lonnegan and snyder's shock. and as they both lay on the ground bleeding out--

hooker stands, unharmed, staring into the face of his own corpse.

the bed is finally empty. hooker is free, back in the real world for good. but the feeling is hollow. it turns out hooker didn't betray gondorff at all; as gondorff explained, the only way for hooker to leave the world of dreams for good is to kill the true dreamer of the limbo. oberon. but at the last moment, when hooker decided he couldnt go through with it, gondorff forced both their hands and kicked off the double murder.

"leave lonnegan to me, ill make sure he thinks you're dead for good. go on, get outta here."

but hooker cant stay away.

he descends back into the dream, using all the tricks he picked up from gondorff to truly see the con through to the end. the money, the real money, is all theirs -- lonnegan thinks theyre both dead -- and synder is out of their hair for good. but oberon is still... well. either hooker has more talent than either of them knew, or oberon's not as weak as he imagined. but he'd be a poor trickster king if he really had let his old pal hickey put a bullet through his gut, huh?

before he "died," gondorff explained everything to hooker. even how little power he really had. "i've done all i can. it's on you now to see things through, whatever you choose to do. and you have my name. luther earned that -- you never had to. but you have it, and i trust you." and his trust wasnt misplaced. hooker is quite the clever protégé. and it seems that now, at last, henry gondorff can finally turn in for a little sleep himself.

Here’s how my Banned Together Bingo is coming along, by the way. Slashes mean something is in progress, X’s mean I’ve finished and posted it.

A couple of my prompts did have the wording changed during the project’s hiatus. I understand why they did get changed, but I do kind of feel that they lost something in the translation, so I’ve included the original prompts below.

”Afflictions and Deformities” is an incredibly ableist phrase, but it’s also a lot more vivid than “Disabled People” as a story prompt, and I think that using the original phrase from The Comics Code paints a more accurate picture of the kind of thinking that went into the original censorship. I also don’t think “Thundersnow” would have been written with the revised prompt - Yorda being sick and the guys’ horns, respectively, fit the literal words of the prompt, and all.

As for “War Realism” to “Realistic War”, they do mean more or less the same thing, but... I don’t know, I don’t think I’d have come up with my current idea under the revised prompt. “War Realism” feels to me like it has a broader scope re: the consequences of war, while “Realistic War” feels more narrow in scope to “realistic depictions of the actual fighting”.

Eh, but that’s just me.  Some other prompts got changed, too, but not so materially. (Yelling at Mom > Yelling at Parent or Guardian and Sexual Spider > Sexy Spider.)
