(cw: cursing, reader is a lil teensy weensy bit toxic but it's fun!!!)
"Did you still want to go get food?" you ask from your position on gamer!Haechan's bed. The same spot you'd been in for the last, wow, almost 3 hours.
"Fuck off! Get my 6 motherfucker!" Haechan yells, before answering softly, "yeah, of course, baby."
You rolled your eyes, he wasn't even listening to you. He had been listening to you when you showed up 4 hours ago when he was very calmly showing you all the changes he made on his Animal Crossing Island. Then, and this was smart, he slid his Switch over to you and told you to make any changes you'd like. So you spent about an hour on his Switch, placing decorations and buying clothes to send to your own island before you realized he was keeping you busy so he could play Fortnite.
Just like he'd been playing last night when he insisted you call him to talk. That casual, and some might even call it cute, conversation lasted all of 20 minutes before he was screaming so loud, you heard him across the room even when your phone wasn't on speaker. Since he'd been so adamant about playing last night and played for so long, you thought today he'd be over it. WRONG! Apparently, there had been some update or something and that reignited his Fortnite obsession.
"Well, do you want to go out like we planned or do you want me to order something?" You asked, turning to lay on your side.
"Of course, my love- oh you stupid fuck! Get back here!" Haechan groaned as the keyboard clacking got even louder.
You pulled a blanket over your face to muffle a groan of your own. A groan of annoyance an frustration more than anything. You'd give him 10 more minutes and then you'd take drastic measures.
You checked the time, 2:14, perfect. You figured you could have at least a little fun while you waited.
"I think it would make you totally ugly if you shaved your head, but why not do it anyway? What do you think?" You asked with a smile.
Haechan nods, "Totally agree, babe. Someone come get this stupid ass little 10 year old that tried to steal my loot."
"And you should pay for our food! And dessert!" You added.
"Of course, baby! Oh, oh, dude! Dude! Headshot! That was a headshot! Holy shit! That was gold!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"And I was thinking maybe after dinner we can go sell your whole set up. Maybe to the first guy we see for like a dollar even less!"
"Yeah, definitely. Dude, I'm out. Fuck, I lagged. Let's join a new game, I'm tired of playing with these fucking kids," Haechan groans, running his hands down his face.
Perfect, you stood up and quickly moved to his computer, pulling at some random plugs until the screen shut off. You placed your hand over his mouth with a sickeningly sweet smile, "We're going to go eat now. Then, because you agreed, we're going to shave your head, you're going to pay, and then we're going to sell your little computer and the whole set up."
You could feel his lips moving beneath your hand, "But-"
You tsked with a fake pout, "Baby, you agreed."
"I wasn't listening! I don't remember what you said!"
"You don't listen when I talk?" You ask with an arched brow.
He opened his mouth and quickly closed it to take a second to think. He hummed, "I promise, the next time we have plans I won't get distracted by games." You gave him a look as if to ask, and? he cleared his throat, "and I won't try cheap gimmicks to distract you. And I will pay for dinner and for the rest of the day all my attention will be on you and no one or anything else. But I won't shave my head or sell my set up."
You smiled, "I was joking. I just wanted to see if anything would catch your attention. Now, let's go, I'm hungry."
You were both on your out when Haechan asked, "do you think I'd look good with a shaved head? Is that why you asked."
You couldn't even look at him, choosing instead to focus on the sidewalk beneath your feet, "yeah, baby. Of course..."

OK what even is happening with the Crows
I’ve just been trawling through the wiki and World of Thedas for a few hours trying to figure out what we (a) know, (b) can guess, (c) can speculate wildly about the inner workings of the Crows during the Dragon age.
(I am by no means an expert on the lore so please let me know where I have wildly missed the mark).
I'm definitely not trying to propose any kind of fanon consensus, where's the fun in that?! Just trying to figure out a timeline that makes sense to me. Possibly also toying around with a pre-canon Rookanis fic.
Loooong and probably insanely disorganised text post under the cut. I should have been in bed hours ago but I am hyperfixating on this and will not sleep until I hit post.
Spoilers, so many spoilers below: Veilguard, Tevinter Nights, The Silent Grove, Origins, Awakenings, the entire franchise basically.
So, a speculative timeline. Events in black are fairly or very well supported by the lore; events in blue are inconsistent/uncertain in the lore; events in purple are guesses that I can sort of back up; events in red are me throwing a dartboard at the wall.
Note: The wiki puts the events of "Eight Little Talons" in 9:44 Dragon, but I can't find any source for that. I would have guessed a little later, but let's roll with 9:44.
Also, I'm pretty unclear on the guildmaster/grandmaster distinction. I'm just going to say 'head of house' for whoever is in charge of a Crow house, or Talon if they're head of one of the eight Talon Houses.
Blessed Age
8:70 Blessed - Caterina born (she's described as well into her 70s during Eight Little Talons and as around 80 in the data-mined character descriptions for Veilguard, so give or take a couple years this seems right).
9:00 to 9:29 Dragon: House Arainai Shenanigans
9:00 Dragon - Antivan civil war, beginning of the "much maligned" Three Queens era (Codex, History of Kirkwall - Chapter 4). Unclear exactly what happens or over what period of time, but seems like the Crows would be in the thick of things.
9:05 - 9:10 - Caterina maybe reaches Talon status (not First, though). Around 8:98 Blessed would be the absolute earliest she could get there given Teia's holds the record (youngest Talon at 28). But I think Teia was at least three or four years younger than any previous Talon so I'd put it somewhere around here, if not a few years later.
9:12 Dragon - Zevran, aged 7, is purchased from a Rialto brothel by House Arainai. The House is led by First Talon Talav Arainai and described as rolling in coin after the "Three Brides" contract - they purchase 17 other slaves that year, including Taliesen (World of Thedas, vol 2, p. 96). I think based purely on vibes that House Arainai is fairly secure in First Talon position and has been there at least a couple years, probably longer.
9:15ish Dragon - Teia born (she's described as 28 in the data-mined descriptions, but she's already a Talon in 'Eight Little Talons', which says she was the youngest ever to reach the rank at age 28. I'm assuming she got there a year or two before the events of the story. See 9:17.
9:16 Dragon - whoops, sometime over the last four years it all went to shit for Talav Arainai! The House dropped to Second Talon, and he was executed in 9:16 after trying to take back the seat of First. Isadora Arainai takes over, and the House hangs on as Second Talon... for now. Rinna joins House Arainai and immediately works well with Zevran and Taliesen under the mentorship of Eoman Arainai (World of Thedas, vol 2, p. 96). This would be the earliest that Caterina could reach First Talon, but I'm not sure I'd put it this early. I think the latest she could possible reach First would be 9:25ish based on my guesses about House Velardo (see below).
9:17 Dragon - Lucanis born (described as 36 in the data-mined character descriptions. I know I threw out those descriptions for Teia, but I think we can be pretty certain Lucanis is mid thirties).
9:17 Dragon - Teia born. I was going back through Eight Little Talons and my initial read was wrong. Teia is 28 during the events of the story.
9:24 Dragon - House Arainai, having the sort of shitty luck they absolutely deserve, falls entirely out of the rank of Talons when Second Talon Isadora dies. They wallow amongst the cuchillos (minor houses) for a few years (World of Thedas, vol 2, p. 96).
9:22 - 9:27 - House Velardo attempts to usurp First Talon from House Dellamorte? The resulting war kills all of Caterina's children and grandchildren, save Lucanis and Illario. My reasoning here is this: Lucanis says he and Illario would have ended up with Caterina to train, but being orphaned sent them to her younger than anticipated. Zevran was purchased at age 7, so we know Crow training, at least for House Arainai slaves, begins very young. Perhaps the non-slave children of influential house leaders start later, but I would guess not much. So I'm assuming they end up with Caterina sometime between ages 5 and 10?
9:25 Dragon - King Maric is thought lost at sea, but is in reality being held by Third Talon Claudio Valisti in a Crow prison on behalf of a Tevinter Magister, Aurielion Titus.
Side note: I had the same reaction to finding out the Crows have a super-fun torture prison as I did to finding out Weisshaupt has dungeons. Just... why? That feels like mission creep? Does the assassin skill set at all overlap with the prison guard skill set?
9:26 - 9:28 - Eoman takes over as head of House Arainai. He eliminates House Ferragani, which was Eighth Talon, thus clearing the way for Arainai to claw its way back into power. Unfortunately, he needs the support of Third Talon Claudio Valisti to take over the position. Valisti wants Rinna Arainai dead (cult / royal bastard reasons) and Eoman tricks Zevran and Taliesen, her lovers, into doing it. This was a very stupid decision (WoT vol 2, p. 96).
9:30 to 9:43 Dragon: Zevran's Revenge
9:30 Dragon - Zevran, depressed and angry about Rinna's death, bids for the contract on the Warden's life. House Arainai is said to have accepted this contract because they believed Loghain to be the best person to defeat the blight (WoT vol 2, p. 96).
Side note: This sort of, if you squint, reconciles the contract on the Warden's life in 9:30 with the memento found in Veilguard that says the Crows had treaties with the Wardens to fight the "next blight". But also they tried to kill the Warden-Commander in Awakenings, too. I guess one could argue a new blight was unlikely so soon but like. Come on, guys. Is your word to the Wardens worth anything or not?
9:31 - 9:34 - If Zevran survived, he comes back from Ferelden with a spring in his step and murder in his heart (and possibly a Warden on his arm) and wreaks absolute havoc on House Arainai. Eoman is first to go, then like half a dozen more of their top people. The House loses Eighth Talon and falls once more into obscurity. The Crows call Zevran (or an unnamed assassin if Zevran is dead) the "Black Shadow" and speculate that he has allies among the cuchillos (WoT vol 2, p. 96).
9:34 - 9:43 - Where the fuck is Zevran?
9:37 Dragon - Corypheus is freed (Legacy DLC). The Venatori will start to be a thing in the next few years, so Lucanis is going to pick up his nickname between now and, say 9:50 Dragon. I'd put it between 9:45 and 9:49 because of vibes (and because he talks about not immediately specialising in mages. Crows get started very young, but I dunno. I see him starting on mages in his mid twenties because, again, vibes.)
9:38 - 9:40 - Events of The Silent Grove (comic - I haven't read it in a while but I'm throwing it in here for complete-ish-ness). Alistair, Varric and Isabela break into the Crow archive and Velabanchel prison (which side note is a totally heinous operation). Isabela kills Claudio Valisti (Third Talon passes to Ezio Valisti). This, for me, raises the question again: Where the fuck is Zevran (sob). Valisti was implicated in Rinna's death, so either Zevran never found out or he couldn't get to Valisti while he was cleaning house.
9:44 Dragon - Ongoing: We're Entering Our Freedom-Fighter Era
9:44 Dragon - The events of 'Eight Little Talons'. Briefly: Caterina calls all the Talons together to plan for the imminent invasion of the Antaam, but a whole bunch of murder happens. Turns out that Fourth Talon Emil Kortez made deal with the Antaam and was trying to wipe out the Crows' leadership. He was killed by the survivors and Viago suggests--correctly, I think--that Caterina will wipe out the whole house.
The following Talons are killed but it seems like their houses will probably retain their status, with somebody else taking over as Talon:
Dante Balazar, Second
Lera Valisti, Third
Giuli Arainai, Eighth (having only just managed to lift that fucking house back up to Talonship, shame lol)
In addition to Caterina, Viago, and Teia, Sixth Talon Nero Bolivar survives, but he um, isn't much help. I would guess that Caterina, in a pretty strong alliance with Viago and Teia and with all the other Talons being new, might fuck his shit up and try to get someone more solid in before the Antaam invade?
9:44 - ongoing - WHERE THE FUCK IS ZEVRAN???? He can't have taken control of any of the eight Talon houses, because he's not at the summit in 'Eight Little Talons'-- and however much he damaged House Arainai, they've clawed back some power by 9:44. Is there a breakaway faction of cuchillo houses that Caterina won't even dignify with an acknowledgment? Is he not interested in any kind of Crow power and is just fucking shit up for them - we can assume House Valisti has had a lock on Third Talon since at least 9:28 (Claudio or Ezio Valisti pop up periodically in this position), and my guess is House de Riva have held Fifth a decent period of time, but as far as I can tell we know nothing about Second, Fourth, Sixth and Seventh Talon Houses in this period. So maybe Zev is toppling houses left, right and centre? Seems like that sort of instability might have changed Caterina's approach in 'Eight Little Talons', though...
9:51 - Lucanis imprisoned in the Ossuary.
9:51 - Antaam invasion of Antiva, starting with Treviso. The Antaam rebellion begins in 9:44 and is ongoing; the failure of Kortez in 9:44 delayed the invasion somewhat. I wouldn't have thought it would delay it this much, but I'm pretty sure that it happened while Lucanis was imprisoned, right? So since we free him in 9:52 after a year in the Ossuary, the invasion must have been delayed until 9:51? Maybe very late 9:50?
"Conclusions"
(I haven't read the comics in a bit and I know there's some Crow stuff that goes down in there beyond the Silent Grove... but as best I recall its just Teia and Viago running into Varric and Harding, and some stuff setting up Solas and the Antaam. Please let me know if I'm mistaken!)
I think it's safe to say the Crows are in chaos for pretty much the entire first half of the Dragon age: Arainai are causing chaos from 9:16 to 9:25, then they pass the torch to Velardo, whose war against House Dellamorte must have lasted a few years if it wiped out almost all of Caterina's family. Zevran is on a murder spree at least between 9:31 and 9:34, and possibly (much) longer depending on your headcanon.
After, at very best, a decade's peace, 9:44 sees the plot to wipe out the Crow leadership, which fails but does kill half the Talons and lead to the elimination of at least one, maybe two of the Talon Houses. Half a decade after that the Antaam invades.
I've been completely on board with the critiques of Veilguard's portrayal of the Crows, but I think writing it all out like this has helped me reconcile things a little bit? This is a deeply chaotic network of feuding families, and no single Talon is going to have the secure political power to make sweeping changes. Which isn't to say the child abuse that was definitely still occuring in Houses Dellamorte and de Riva during Rook and Lucanis' childhoods is just fine. But it makes more sense to me now that Houses Dellamorte, de Riva and Cantori could have wildly different ideas about slavery and torture prisons than, say Houses Arainai and Valisti--and have extremely limited power to shift the culture of competing Houses. Even the First Talon's position is deeply precarious.
Whew. Good night!
(Just realised as I was tagging that I haven't slotted The Wigmaker Job in anywhere. I thiiiiink Viago mentions in 'Eight Little Talons' that Lucanis is currently in Tevinter for a job, maybe a sly reference to Wigmaker? But I cannot possibly get sucked in any deeper, my dog is losing her entire mind at me STILL being at the computer.)
***
Waking up and editing to add: At some point in her time as a Talon (probably First but I guess maybe not?), Caterina wiped out another house so completely that Teia doesn't even recognise the name, Gaspari, when Viago mentions it in 'Eight Little Talons'. Given House Velardo was the one that made a play for First Talon, this is a whole 'nother big intra-Crows conflict that slots in somewhere on this timeline. Caterina is ruthless, y'all.
***
Editing again a few days later to report that I was flicking through WoT and spotted a WHOLE-ASS ENTRY on Claudio Valisti that I’d managed to miss. I was… not happy. I’m begging you BioWare, no more information. I cannot reconcile it.
Anyway. World of Thedas, vol 2, p 44, has Claudio Valisti taking over from his father as Eighth Talon in 9:34, quickly getting the house to Sixth Talon and appearing to be going places. This appears to contradict p. 96 of the same, which has a Third Talon Claudio Valisti helping House Arainai in 9:28, as described above.
I thought very carefully about tearing the page out, burning it, and forgetting I ever knew this particular piece of lore.
Instead I have decided fuck it, we have a father-son pair here. Senior helped out Arainai in 9:28. His house later fell to Eighth (in my incredibly unwieldy and underdeveloped headcanon this is partly because helping Arainai really pissed off Caterina). Claudio Senior dies in 9:34, Claudio Junior inherits. By the time Junior dies to Isabela in 9:38-40 he’s got the house properly back on track, so the loss of a leader doesn’t destabilise them too badly.
Ezio Valisti is Third Talon in 9:41, according to the Winter Palace announcer in Inquisition, and the house still holds the third seat in 9:44.
(Also edited Teia’s birth year from 9:15 to 9:17; I misread Eight Little Talons. She’s 28 during the events of the story.)

Elephant in the Room Pt. 4
Part 3 Part 4
Summary: John and you hooked up after a night at the bar. You two after that never saw each other again. At least until 12 years later when Price discovers that 9 months after your time together you had given birth to not one baby, but two. Word Count: 2309
Price continues to avoid you even after getting back to base. That seems to be what you want right now as well if the glare you shoot his way when he attempts to carry a few of the bags inside was anything to go by. With that in mind he swiftly made his retreat; leaving the rest of the team to help the two of you get settled while he excused himself on account of needing to do some paperwork.
His mind was racing far too much for him to truly focus on that though. Price tries to stay away, but after a few hours he can't help but find himself at your door once more today. Things like this do require space, but they also need to be discussed as soon as possible lest resentment and anger continue to grow. Ghost's words from earlier echoing in his mind.
He knocks firmly on the door, and waits to see if you'll open the door, and surprisingly you do. You don't seem surprised to see him either. The two of you stand there in silence for what feels like hours before your moving, and gesturing for him to come inside.
The silence continues even after the door shuts and you lead him to the living room. Price sits across from you, and only then does he finally speak, "I know the things that have been happening are my fault, and I'm- I'm sorry. I am going to fix things though. The only thing I'm begging of you is that I get a chance to talk to Amelia and Andrew."
“No, no this isn’t your fault John. I shouldn’t have implied that I thought it was earlier. It’s just- everything is happening so fast; I mean just a few days ago everything was perfectly normal, and now it feels like I’m in an unending nightmare.” You explain to him before taking a calming breath, “Would you … like to talk to Amelia tomorrow? She was asking about you earlier, and I admittedly didn’t have any answers for her”
“May I ask how much they do know about me; about us?”
It's here where he sees a wave of sadness hit you. "They know just about as much as I do. I told them your name, that you were a lieutenant when I met you, and that you were kind. They also know that we weren't any official. Would be a bit hard to lie about not knowing your last name if I said we were."
Price softly whispers your name before continuing, "I shouldn't have left like I did, love. You didn't deserve that. Maybe things would be different now if I did."
"I tried to find you John, I wanted things to be different."
"There was only so much you could have done. Heaven knows there are hundreds of 'Johns' in the military." He pauses here thinking about the conversations he's had with you today, "I still haven't properly introduced myself to you."
You let go of a soft laugh at his words. This might be the first time seeing any sort of happiness on your face since meeting you again. "Well go on then! I'd love to finally know my children's father's name."
"John Price, and it's captain now."
"Captain John Price." You look at him with a soft smile, "it suits you."
He likes the way you say his name. It only makes him wish he could have told you it all those years ago. You both sit in comfortable silence for a moment before he asks, "Were you serious about letting me talk to Amelia tomorrow?"
"Maybe- maybe you could come by for lunch; talk to her then."
"I'd like that." He answers you with a gentle tone. "What is she like; what is Andrew like?"
Your eyes are soft and smile sweet as you reply to him, "Amelia … She's a good kid; smart too, but a little spitfire that one. I don't think that girl has ever been afraid of confrontation. Very blunt, I'll warn you now about that. I'd prepare yourself for some hard questions from her."
"Good to know," Price nods at the information you've shared. He can only imagine right now what a kid who's meeting their father for the first time in 12yrs could ask. "And Andrew?"
"Football is life is a phrase I'm pretty sure he actually lives by with how much I've heard him say it." You lightly chuckle at your words, and wipe a fallen tear from your cheeks before continuing, "He's a sweet boy though; always wanting to include others in whatever he does."
"They sound like great kids." He pauses for only a moment, "You're a good mum."
Your eyes snap up to meet him when you hear this with surprise shining through your face. "Thank you," your voice cracks out.
Price takes a moment of silence before speaking again, "It's late and I don't want to keep you up any longer, love."
You walk him to the door, and before you shut it you whisper, "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Tomorrow." Hell or high water he'll be here tomorrow. He won't let you down again.
-
It's the next morning and only a few hours until his first conversation with his daughter when Laswell decides to make a sudden appearance in his office. “John.”
“Laswell,” He addresses her, “what you got for me?”
She steps up to his desk and immediately hands him a folder, “Information about who took Andrew.”
Instantly opening up the folder Price sees the name of the same group who had managed to take him captive for a few hours months ago. He had always thought that the interrogation had been odd. They didn’t ask for any information, any codes, or any future plans the team had. Instead they had swabbed his mouth, and left him alone for most of his time there.
Looking back on it now though their intentions are becoming more clear. They didn’t want to simply torture information out him; they wanted to take something seemingly much more important to him. This was in the plans for much longer than he realized.
Flipping through the other pages he sees a printed scene shot of a DNA test website. It shows a profile with his name being listed as father above Andrews’. That's how they found Andrew it seems; by a stupid online genetic test.
"Where are we now on getting him back?"
"We have a basic location on their base of operation as of now. Be prepared to be sent out on a moment's notice; even for today. We're getting this kid back as soon as we can."
"I can agree with you on that. Has anything else been sent to us since the video?"
Laswell shakes her head at him, "Nothing as of yet. Which we should take as a good thing. Hopefully that means Andrew has been left alone for the most part."
"We can only hope."
She takes a step closer to him, and gives his shoulder a quick squeeze, "We're going to get him back, John.” With a slight pause she continues, “What about the girls; how have things been with them?”
“Well I’ve been allowed to have a conversation with Amelia today so things are doing good, all things considered.”
“Yeah? Are you ready for that?”
“Laswell.”
“Yes, John?”
“How do you talk to 12 year old girls?”
Laswell gives a small chuckle at Price’s question, “Don’t treat her like a soldier for one, and two … I’d just be honest about whatever questions she might have. She probably already feels like her life has been turned upside down. The last thing she wants right now is to be treated like she can’t handle knowing the truth.”
“So just be honest about everything?”
“Well she is 12 so there are going to be things you’ll probably want to explain in a more age appropriate way, but 12 year olds aren’t babies; they can handle having a serious conversation.”
“And what if she’s angry?” Price can’t help but ask. Of all things, that is the one that he’s not sure how to properly react to or handle that.
Laswell merely sighs at him, “She’s going to be angry. You just need to stay calm, actively listen to what she says, and don’t take everything she says out of anger to heart. Especially with how crazy her life is right now.”
He doesn’t say anything else right away; thinking about what Laswell had just said to him. As always she’s right; Amelia is most likely going to be angry. He knows if he was in her position he would be. “Thank you Laswell.”
“No problem John.” She then turns around and walks out of the office.
Once alone he takes out the photo he had taken from the first folder Laswell had given him; the one that showed all three of you smiling together. Price thinks about how once he gets Andrew back he'll make sure all of you can be together like that again.
-
It was noon right on the dot when Price stepped inside your house once more. The first thing he noticed was how delicious it smelt inside. It really made him think for a moment about how long it’s been since he’s had a meal that wasn’t from the base cafeteria.
You both exchange slightly awkward greetings with one another before you lead him into the dinning room where Amelia is already sitting at the table; a notepad sits in front of her. Price stops in the arch way as he watches you walk over to her, and give her shoulder a squeeze.
“Lunch is almost ready; it’ll just be a few more minutes.” You move your head between Amelia and him, “While I’m finishing up you two can have a talk. Amelia, come get me if you need to.” You say before nervously exiting the room.
With you gone now it just leaves Price and Amelia alone to have what he can already tell is going to be a hard conversation. He makes his way further into the room and sits across from her with a hand extended, “Hello, Amelia. I’m John; John Price.”
He watches as his daughter takes a calming breath as she extends her hand to shake his as well, “Hello, … John.”
She sounds unsure saying his name which he can understand. Price didn’t come in here expecting her to call him any sort of partial name; that is something he hopes later on she’ll be comfortable giving him. That time is not now though, now is the time to build trust.
“I heard you had some questions for me, and I promise to do my best to answer them for you,” He slightly motions towards the notepad.
At the mention of questions Amelia seems to immediately perk up; even flipping her notepad open to reveal several lines of text. Price unfortunately couldn’t read it from this distance. It seems all nervousness from her has been thrown out the window though.
The first few questions were basic get to know you questions. Things like age, birthday, and where did he grow up. Price noted how this felt more like an interrogation rather than a talk which actually eased his nerves a bit; she strangely reminded him of Laswell at this moment.
Those kind of questions could only last for so long though before you started asking about things currently going on. “Have there been any updates about Andrew?”
“We’re hoping to retrieve him any day now.” Price hesitantly answers; unsure of how much he should really be discussing with her. “You’ll get your brother back soon.”
“And afterwards?”
“Hmm?”
"So like … what's going to happen afterwards then? You keep saying you're going to get Andrew back, but what about after that?" Amelia questions him, "Are you just going to save the day and all these years without you don't matter anymore because of that, or are things going to go back to when we never knew you?"
“Amelia!” Your voice rings out from the other side of the room.
Price doesn’t know how, but you had managed to come into the room with him noticing. He puts a calming hand up to you, and softly says your name before continuing, “No, it’s ok it’s a valid question to ask,and the answer truthfully is that I don’t know what is going to happen afterwards. That is something your mum and I have yet to discuss.”
"What do you want to happen?" You are now sitting next to Amelia with a comforting hand on hers.
"I- I don't know." She says as her head hangs low and picks at her nails.
"That's ok; You don't have to know." You stand up and gently help Amelia out of her chair, "Why don't you come and help me bring out the dishes?"
Price watches as you both leave; knowing that you wanted to have a private conversation without him present. It only takes a few minutes for you both to return, Amelia mood seems to have risen based on the easy smile on her face.
The conversation that follows is stilled in the beginning, but quickly becomes livelier as Amelia talks about her friends and upcoming school year. Everything for just a moment feels calm, but of course nothing can last forever.
A loud rapid knocking sound rings through the house; stopping any conversations in an instant. Price is the first one to stand and walk towards the door. He knows that whoever is on the other side is most likely looking for him anyway.
“Captain.” Gaz stands before him, a serious look on his face. “Laswell needs us in the debriefing room. It’s time to get your boy.”

alright kids, gather around. I have some things I'd like to say regarding last night in a very organized list format
OVERALL SHOW THOUGHTS
Overall It was beautiful. I cried watching the stream. But sadly went to bed before it was over because I was feeling very unwell from staying up so late ): I missed blood,I'm not ok and Helena on stream but that's ok <3
MCR5,NEW TOUR?
-Did not expect them to release anything about that last night since it was night one of two. More likely they would do it tonight so I'm holding out hope for tonight since it's the more likely option
SOCIALS/ONLINE PRESENCE/POSTS
-Frank has NOT posted anything regarding MCR only dunes, which is very unlike him. As we know Frank loved MCR to death. He's the no 1 fan of his own band so I find it odd and very intentional that he has not posted anything about MCR at wwwyf only dunes
-along the same lines Mikey has not posted anything. Few weeks ago we got practice from him which was good, but all we have from him r 2 pics of him and his wife which r adorable, but not relating to MCR. also seems a little intentional to not have said anything about them playing at all
-MCR'S socials r DRY like bone dry. With swarm tour they posted things about "tonight were playing in (blank) at (blank time)" or something like that but they didn't post anything about WWWYF apart from when tickets went on sale for both days which is a little odd in my opinion
for all of them the silence seems ominous. Like they r trying to build suspense
OUTFIT'S, STAGE,GEE'S HAIR
-All black outfits head to toe, they looked good but it was very lacking black parade tbh (not a bad thing they looked so cute tho)
-STAGE-
-Only projections of spiders, tree (during cancer),swords, bridge (?),worms (?)
-SPIDERS PROJECTED
-swarm logo=fly
-spiders= eat flies
-"Witch" was leaked earlier this year. Paper kingdom was the album meant to come right after black parade. Their aesthetic kinda similar. Whites, blacks ect.
-some of the visuals like the swords was giving very paper kingdom 100% and if I rly did see a bridge projection in the background that's also very much the vibe. but most this stuff was done in short flashes across the backdrop
-Gee's hair-
-New haircut (stunning btw)
-new era? Gee had changed his hair for new era's. bullets/revenge it stayed pretty much the same apart from random dye jobs here and there but during black parade he got it real short and bleached it. Danger days ht dyed it red. hair is a big thing when it comes to Gee.
-New hair since shrine show (2019) pretty much. He's had long hair since MCR has come back together. U could argue it was to look nice but think about all the other stuff he's done that was also a big deal like umbrella acad final season and stuff. Why didn't he get a haircut then? Why now? and why was he hiding it?
-The last vid we got was earlier in the week the birthday one and he had the long hair still. It was recent like he did this JUST for the shows.
-i'm 100% taking this is a way of moving into a new era for MCR
MERCH
-some people were kinda bummed there was no new cool merch from the festival apart from the DEAD! zip up which is pretty cool ngl
-kinda looked like they were trying to get rid of older stuff before making something new perhaps?
-spending more time and resources on NEW shirts for a NEW album makes more sense than spending all the time and resources on designing new shirts for black parade when they can do that pretty much any time
HOPES FOR TONIGHT'S SHOW
I will not be staying up this time sorry guys. I slept 4 hours last night and feel very unwell from it. So i'll be sleeping tonight sadly but here is my hopes and predictions for tonight.
-MCR will play just like last night with the visuals and stuff but will maybe play one new song or announce it some how with the backdrop and "Paper Kingdom" will be announced to be released on OCT. 31
-Their socials will go live with all the info immediately
-Shortly after the album comes out there will be tour dates announced for spring/summer of 2025 INCLUDING warped tour
-END-
thanks for listening to my rambles if I think of more i'll add it to the list but I wanted a cohesive place to put all my findings and thoughts to share
#my chemical romance#mcr#my chemical fucking romance#gee way#g way#gerard way#ray toro#mikey way#frank iero

ᥫ᭡ f!reader x yang jungwon ── 𝒢enre. Uni au. fluff, non idol enha. feats. ot7 [reqs are open] ᝰ.ᐟ 𝓁ibrary 🎧
authors 𝓃𝑜𝓉𝑒𝓈 I honestly have no idea where this came from I just thought of anti social Jungwon and Anti social reader coming together and this is where it got me. This is part of admins Enhypen university Series
ᦓynopsis Jungwon is a film major that finds honestly complete captivated by an antisocial girl with a love for the stars and a passion for music
TAGLIST CLOSED FOR THIS SERIES
Can you hear my heart?
A month had passed since the night of their date, a night in which the two spent most of their time enjoying one another's company, a month in which they received an endless amount of teasing from their friends. A month in which the two spent so much time together that even the members of the film club began to put two and two together and realized that Jungwon had finally found himself someone.
Tonight was their first official gathering since the two had gotten together, the night where Jungwon had planned on making it official. He had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to officially put a title on things, for so long the two had decided to take things slow, but he was now ready to completely claim her as his girlfriend, not just the woman he liked.
“Ah i’m so excited we haven’t all gotten together in so long, especially since you and Jake started working at Moonstruck.” Chaewon plopped herself down onto yns bed as the girl stood in her bathroom perfecting her hair.
“I think the last time we all saw each other in one place was two weeks ago when we first started working there.”
“As much as I hate sharing you with them, it's been nice seeing you get comfortable around more people. I wanted you to first arrive on campus, you were so timide.”
“If you think about it none of this would have ever happened if you hadn’t been so persistent about becoming my friend when i’d visit the library.”
“I never give up, I'd have continued until you got sick of me.” The two girls laugh as she made her way out of the bathroom and grabbed her phone and unlocking it to see three texts from Jungwon
With the biggest smile on her face she slips her phone into her pocket.
“I'm assuming that was Won?”
“Mhm, he says manon keeps asking about me and accusing him of taking me away.”
“And nothing about me? My future wife doesn't even ask about her own girlfriend.”
“Weren’t you two just together this morning before you came here to get ready?” Yn laughs at her best friend's sudden dramatics.
“That was 4 hours ago, I'm having withdrawals.”
“Well let’s go before your withdrawals get worse and you start singing to strangers on the sidewalk about how much you love your girlfriend.”
“Okay that was one time and I was Drunk.” Chaewon defends, earning a laugh from yn as the two of them make their way out of the door. The entire ride with Chaewon and Sunoo consists of the two of them arguing about who they thought was next to get a girlfriend in the group, followed by who they think would be the last.
“Yn will you tell her that Jay is next.”
“Are you stupid? Jay doesnt even talk to anyone, he's always either working or studying? Obviously Sunghoon is next in line? The girls at the rink literally fawn over him?”
“Honestly I think you’re both wrong, I have an honest feeling that Heeseung or Jake could be the next to find someone.”
“Lee Heeseung…?”
“Jake who? As in Sim Jaeyun?”
“You guys may not agree but Heeseung seems pretty set on Sakoia from what Jake has been telling me and recently there's this girl that's been coming into Moonstruck and Jake becomes an absolute mess when she comes in. Yesterday he asked for her name for her order and when she told him he said “oh wow that’s my name too.” That sent both Sunoo and Chaewon into a fit of laughter, they were certainly going to bully him about this.
They had finally arrived at the cafe and after 10 minutes of searching for a good parking spot, made their way inside. Chaewon and Sunoos' eyes spotted Jake talking to Jay and they immediately ran off to use the information they had just gained against him.
“..Do you have any idea how breathtaking you look at this moment?” She knew it was none other than Jungwon, his arm slipped around her waist from behind and he buried his face in her neck, taking in her intoxicating scent.
“Hi love.” She smiles and tangles their fingers together, resting against his chest and enjoying the momentary comfort before turning to face him.
“You look so handsome, I think the blonde hair surely suits you, makes it harder to look away from you.” He can’t help but smile proudly at the way she ogles him, he instantly melts against her touch as she reaches up and brushes her fingers through his hair. He leans in closer, adjusting herself to his height which makes her heart skip a beat, they were so close to one another. Jungwon on the other hand was completely resisting the urge to pull her in by her waist and kiss her right then and there, but he wouldn’t. He’d wait for the perfect opportunity to kiss her, he needed their first kiss to be special, not just for himself but for her.
“Uh love birds, will you two hurry along before Sunghoon decides to skip what we’re thankful for and just eat.” yn simply laughs and Jungwon takes her hand into his, leading her over to join the others.
The dinner had gone by smoothly, and for once Heeseung and Chaewon hadn’t spent the night bickering with one another. Yn found herself sitting back and smiling at everyones interactions. Back then if she had been told that she would have this many friends, or someone like Jungwon at her side she’d have never believed it. But she stood there staring at the new family that now surrounded her feeling nothing but absolute joy, she no longer needed to rely on music or even the stars for her happiness because she had everything she needed right there.
“You seem happy baby.” Jungwons hand slips around her waist and his head rests on top of hers as he joins her in watching the others.
“Mm I am, seeing everyone together, it just makes me happy, I’ve never really had anyone get close to me so to have this many people in my presence to call friends.” She smiles up at him as he turns her around to face him.
“And if you feel that happy about them, then…what do I make you feel?” Her heart skipped a beat at the question, the way he stared down at her making butterflies swarm the pit of her stomach.
“Happy, like nothing else around me matters even if I'm with you. Can’t look at anyone else, can’t think of anyone else.”
“Mhm.” Jungwon hums in response, as he now had her gazing up at him with so much love and admiration, he could no longer hold himself back. Placing his hand beneath her head his thumb brushes against her lips and he closes the space between the two of them. Sparks began to fly as their lips connected. Both of their heartbeats are growing insanely fast. His heart had been beating so intensely that he thought anyone around them was bound to hear it. As their lips finally part he stares down at her, one hand resting on her waist the other on the back of her neck.
“Be my girlfriend, don’t look at anyone else, don’t think of anyone else, just me…as mine, be mine and only mine.”
She felt so overwhelmed an overwhelming feeling of joy had overcome her, yet she was also still completely dazed from the kiss.
“Took you long enough to ask me.” She finally responds, making Jungwon breathe out a sigh of relief and pull her into his arms.
“Can you hear my heart right now? I thought it’d burst out of my chest if I had to wait any longer to know your answer. ” He laughs as she nuzzles her head into his chest, trying to hide away, having grown shy after the two of them just now having had their first kiss.

Lilla Solen- Eric Northman x witch!reader
Just another Eric oneshot. This could be a sequel to Familiar, but you don't have to read it. Although I'd be happy if you did...
I'm just now starting season 4 so if this isn't accurate to the show's timeline then I'll get there eventually :)
It had taken me weeks and weeks of trying, and failed spells, and damn near blowing my house up before I had even caught a glimpse of success. But a few weeks ago my plans had just started to come together and since then I’ve been working night and day until I’ve finally got it right.
A few months ago I had been dragged into another one of Sookie Stackhouse’s overly complicated situations. Typically I liked to stay neutral in these things, but after Eric had asked, if not begged, for my help, I could hardly say no. It wasn’t until Eric and a so-called vampire king started drinking from Sookie and stepping outside that I actually realized just how much shit I was about to be dragged into.
I’ve never had a heart attack, but the way my heart was pounding out of my chest as I watched Eric on the security cameras stepping into the sun for the first time in a thousand years, I really thought I was in the middle of one. Pam and I were both glued to the screen and we couldn’t take our eyes off the screen. Her because she thought her Maker was dying, and me because I couldn’t stop looking at the serene look on his face as he closed his eyes and faced the sun. Until he started burning, then I thought he was dying.
The events following that day were, well hectic would be an understatement, and for the weeks that followed, the thing that stuck out to me the most was Eric’s face. I couldn’t imagine not being in the sun for a week let alone a thousand years. So, I made the inane decision to try and bottle up the sun. Well, not the actual sun, but a close enough replica. I wasn’t even sure I was a powerful enough witch to make this happen, but after hundreds of hours of pouring over spell books and journals, I had the basis to create the spell.
It took another hundred hours until I got a breakthrough. Then another dozen before I almost set my kitchen on fire. Then a couple more dozen until I had finally gotten it, and was able to replicate it safely.
The whole process was a killer, especially keeping it away from Eric. After he had been burned by the sun, I had given him some of my blood to help heal him. Now that we had a blood connection, he could sense every bit of panic that I was feeling, which often led to numerous nights where he sprinted over here just as I extinguished some flames. While he demanded answers, I just had to tell him that I was working on some witch stuff. Which wasn’t a lie. Now I just tell him beforehand when I’m working on some tricky spells so he doesn’t panic.
I was finally at a point where I felt comfortable showing him my work. I texted him around noon telling him I had something to show him, and was just waiting for him to wake up and make his way over. The sun was about to set as I made some last minute adjustments to the kitchen, cleaning up little things here and there. I had always fiddled with things when I was nervous, so this was making me go into overdrive. Usually I wasn’t a self conscious person, but this was making me worried. Such a gift seemed almost intimate, and while there were feelings on my end towards Eric, we had never labeled it. I didn’t even know if he felt the same.
I had known for a while that my feelings towards Eric weren’t just platonic. He was a good friend, and we had spent many nights in this kitchen or at Fangtasia just talking and reminiscing about our long lives. But Eric was a very closed off vampire, and never showed too much emotion. The closest I had ever gotten to knowing what Eric was thinking was when Pam made a small throwaway comment about how I was Eric’s “favorite little witch”. Granted, the woman loved drama so who knows if she was being serious or just stirring a pot.
The familiar woosh of air at my back door and the associated knocking pattern told me Eric was here. Despite him being allowed inside whenever, he was usually a gentleman and knocked first. The few times he just barged in he had made me drop quite a few mugs and glasses. He felt bad enough that he started routinely knocking.
I walked across the kitchen and opened the back door. He turned and threw me a dashing smile, his eyes looking me up and down slowly. “Hey,” he said.
“Hi,” I answered, opening the door enough for him to come in. Eric always seemed to relax when he was here. He mentioned before the low light and herbs reminded him of home, and it always warmed my heart that I could give him that level of comfort.
“You said you had something to show me?” He asked, tugging off his jacket and rolling up the sleeves of his long sleeve shirt.
My eyes trailed up his arms as I watched him roll his sleeves before shaking myself from the not-so-wholesome thoughts that had started to form in my head, mainly involving his hands and where he could put them.
“Yes, please, come sit down,” I said, gesturing to the living room. Much like my kitchen, the living room was small and quaint. Outfitted in older furniture, warm colors, too many candles, and just as many drying flowers, it looked more like a room out of a storybook. Which, to be fair, was the vibe I was going for. “I’m sorry if I pulled you from something important.”
Eric sat down on my couch, folding his hands on his lap. “No, nothing is more important than you.” He grinned as the blush spread across my cheeks. Sometimes I couldn’t tell if he just liked seeing me blush, or if he actually meant what he said.
“So, over the last couple of months I’ve been thinking,” I said, sitting on the floor opposite of Eric so I could use the coffee table. “When you drank from Sookie, and you stepped outside, you looked so peaceful, and so comfortable being able to see daylight. So I made you something.”
I pulled out the enchanted jar and placed it in the middle of the coffee table. The jar was empty except for a few sparkles glimmering in the candlelight. Eric’s eyes crinkled in confusion as he looked between me and the jar.
“You got me a mason jar?” He asked.
I rolled my eyes, “No, Eric. Just watch.” I closed my eyes and lightly touched the glass of the jar. I whispered the incantation, the latin rolling off of my tongue. Behind my closed eyes I could see the orange glow from the jar, and my fingertips felt the jar getting warmer.
I opened my eyes, the little ball of light inside the jar glowing as bright as a sun, giving off a beautiful light. I looked at Eric, who at first seemed tense, like he was expecting to burn, but after a few moments he closed his eyes and sank into the couch and the light. He had the same look on his face as he did that day outside of Fangtasia.
I couldn’t fight the grin on my face even if I wanted to. The hours of burning my fingertips and frustration were worth it just to see the serenity on his face. I slid the jar to the side of the table so we weren’t blinded. At the sound of the glass sliding on the wood Eric opened his eyes and stared at me in awe.
I stood from the floor and sat next to him on the couch, his blue eyes, brighter in the sunlight, never left my face.
“How?” was all he could ask.
I shrugged, “I created the spell. I used some different variations of magic, made sure the jar wouldn’t break, temperature control…It’s simple in theory but harder in practice.” I said. Eric’s staring was only broken by him glancing at the jar every few seconds. “It only lasts for about an hour before I have to say the incantation again, and only I can activate it, but other than that it’s all yours. It follows the cycle of the sun, so when it’s close to going out, it deepens into a sunset.” I finished, twisting my fingers together nervously.
We sat in silence, him staring at the jar as I watched him. I just took a mental snapshot of the look on his face. He was a fairly hard man to read but I knew him well enough to see where his mind was going. He was figuring out how hard it was to do this, the time and effort it took for me to do this, and then the reason why I would do this. See, that’s where he got confused. That’s what he couldn’t understand. Why I would care enough to go through all the trouble.
“Eric?” I quietly asked. He had reached out to the jar, running his finger up and down the warm glass. His eyes reflected the light coming off of it, drinking it in.
“I don’t really know what to say,” He mumbled, dragging his eyes from the jar back to me. “Thank you, for starters.”
I shrugged, “It’s not that big of a deal.”
Eric moved closer to me, our knees now touching. “You have no idea how much it means to me,” he said. His mouth moved but no words came out until he finally mumbled, “I’m actually speechless.”
Now my blush had overtaken my neck, cheeks, and ears. “You don’t have to say anything. Honestly, I just wanted you to be happy. This is well worth it,” I mumbled.
Eric grinned, leaning forward and cupping my cheek. “Y/n, I honestly don’t know how to thank you. This means so much to me, you have no idea.” Eric glanced down at my lips and my blush only deepened. “What do you call it?”
“Lilla Solen. It’s swedish, for-”
“Little sun,” Eric finished. I nodded.
“Yeah, I thought it was fitting.”
“Y/n”, Eric whispered, running his thumb on my cheek. Eric had slowly started to lean forward until we were only a breath apart.
“Eric,” I whispered back. My eyes closed as he gently pressed his lips to mine in a chaste kiss. He pulled away and I opened my eyes, a grin stretching across my face. I grabbed his collar and pulled him back in for another longer kiss.
“It’s about time,” I whispered when we broke apart again a few minutes later. Eric chuckled, swiping his finger over my slightly swollen lips.
“I’d say. Pam said if I didn’t kiss you soon she’d lock me in the basement,” He said, rolling his eyes.
I laughed, knowing the woman was serious about that. “That reminds me,” I said, pulling a smaller jar out of my pocket, “I made one for her too. It just isn’t as powerful.”
“I’m sure she’ll appreciate it,” Eric said, taking the jar and putting it next to his. Eric wrapped his arms around me and pulled me towards him until we were both leaning back on the couch, facing the jar.
I was tense for a moment before I relaxed into his hold, snuggling into his chest. Eric ran his hands up and down my back tracing little shapes. This was all very new behavior that I could very much get used to.
“I didn’t know you spoke Swedish,” Eric said.
“I don’t, but I just looked up the translation. I figured if I’m creating something new, the name should be enjoyed by the person I’m making it for.” I answered.
“How long have you felt this way,” He asked, quietly.
I took a moment to think about the answer. “Quite a while now. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to make things awkward between us. And I never knew how you felt.”
“I should have told you sooner,” Eric said.
“It’s alright. At least we know now.”
Eric was silent for a moment, “You know, this really does give me an excuse to keep you around. To light this thing every night,” He said. I could hear the grin in his voice. I looked up and he was giving me his classic Eric smirk.
“Did you really need an excuse to keep me around?” I asked.
Eric’s grin got wider and he leaned forward and planted a kiss on my forehead. “No, I was gonna keep you around anyway,” He mumbled.
I laughed and lay my head back down on his chest, basking in the glow of the jar, and in Eric’s embrace. Yeah, this was definitely worth it.

In search of freedom (Ch. 5)
5. I've found heaven in hell
⠀⠀➺ fic masterlist
⠀⠀➺ Chapter 4 ; Chapter 5 ; Chapter 6
⠀⠀⠀⠀She's been searching for freedom her entire life and everytime she thought it was laying right in front of her eyes, she was mistaken. She was running around the East Blue, seeking herself and her dreams, meeting people she never forgot. No matter how much she traveled, she could only catch a glimpse of peace before realizing everything would crumble at her feet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Maybe it was destiny that brought her on that ship with three strangers — foolishly, that's what she tried to believe when the moon shined beautifully and hope settled in her chest, squeezed by the same ribcage where feelings were blooming.
Pairing: female!reader x OPLA Zoro Roronoa
Warnings for this chapter: alcohol, angst, arguing, tension, tarot readings
Word count: 7,9 k
Theme song: fic spotify playlist (click on the link)
A/N: I genuinely hope this chapter is as good as I wanted it to be, but I'm not so sure about it. I tried my best, but I'm certainly proud of the last scene of this chapter. Yes, we finally got to Baratie and Zoro's fight with Mihawk. I'd be very happy to hear your opinions, so let me know what you think <33 Not proofread yet.
The reader is referred to as "Witch" because I have no intentions of using "Y/N".
One card fell from her tarot deck from the moment when she started shuffling it: Death.
Nope, she immediately thought to herself.
The witch let out a theatrical sigh and let the cards back in their place, half of her mind completely ignoring the meaning.
No way I'm occupying my mind with such trouble now of all times. I couldn't even sleep last night.
She could think about that later, after she gets a few hours of peace. They were lucky enough to escape from the Marines just a while ago. The answer she received after she came back to her room at the first hours in the morning — when she had just finished her night shift — was ambiguous enough. All she wanted was to breathe some fresh air.
The witch got up from the bed and was ready to leave the girls' room while pulling a large shirt over the tight tank top hugging her curves, leaving it unbuttoned. The hot weather made her choose some shorts in favor of the usually large pants she preferred. The low heels of her boots created a strong sound with each step on the Going Merry's floor.
"I still can't believe Luffy was the one to get us at this floating restaurant in the middle of the sea using his nose only," she chuckled at the navigator.
Nami was glancing one last time into a small rounded mirror she held between her fingers before closing it and shoving it into a bag.
"Add food to the equation and he could take over my role."
"Well, well, that's quite exaggerated. He might have an affinity for sniffling foods, but you can feel a thunderstorm. That's a big difference," the witch winked.
"You're flattering me," Nami grinned.
The witch opened the door of their room and they were instantly greeted with the rays of the sun. She squinted her eyes and walked on the deck with two knives and a gun sitting at her hips. Luffy was already on the dock of the restaurant created in the form of fish with an open mouth. Baratie was written in red neon lights on top of the suspended balcony of the restaurant.
"Do you think there are marines here?" Usopp asked as he leaned against the railing of The Going Merry.
"There are skulls on the flags of other ships. If marines are here, they're probably not for business. I wouldn't start yelling about it in the middle of a place filled with pirates," the witch commented.
Any other words died on top of her tongue when her eyes fell on the swordsman who just left the galley. Maybe the witch should've been more careful while staring so insistently, but gosh, wasn't he always a sight? The dark bluet-shirt clinging onto his chest for dear life, accentuating the muscle lines and — god fucking dammit — the jeans squeezing his legs made her gulp. The signature swords were secured against his left hip.
She averted her eyes before she could get caught ogling at the crewmate she grew fond of. It was a pleasure to blame it on the doses of alcohol in her veins, but it wasn't the case that time. She was wide awake and sober, so the nature of her thoughts was worrisome, to say the least.
She was still dealing with the possibility of feelings. A concerning topic for an inexperienced person in the domain of romance.
Another trouble she didn't want to think of. Maybe Zoro isn't that wrong for drinking with every occasion he gets.
What made it worse was the lack of attention he gave her, as if she was just a ghost.
Maybe she was overthinking it.
Truth be told, she wasn't exactly wrong. Zoro did intentionally look away so he could save himself from embarrassment. He turned away before he swallowed the lump in his throat, his fingers curling tighter around the hilt of his sword. He must've gotten insane to start avoiding people.
"Let's go! I feel like I could die from hunger," Luffy jumped from the ship straight on the dock.
The witch found the right thing to focus on: the restaurant looked amazing. Not only did it smell so divine her stomach learnt how to talk, but it was also splendid. For a second, the witch wondered if that was a place for pirates and not for some rich business people — they could certainly be found there. Dozens of tables and the constant chattering of people, waiters and waitresses walking around and rushing from one side to the other — it was so lively.
The fishman greeting the people coming in smiled warmly at them, even if a little strained — a habit he got from his job.
"You mean there's no free table for our captain, the soon to become King of the Pirates?" Usopp smiled proudly, pointing at Luffy.
She found it hard not to laugh or chuckle at the interaction between Luffy and the poor fishman who said twice already that there will be an available table in three weeks. When the witch saw Nami shove her hand in her pockets, it was obvious what tactic she'd use. Obviously, it worked, even if Luffy and Usopp were cheering, walking down the stairs ahead of them.
The witch looked around, wary of any possible threats or drunk people who would get mad about the smallest thing, like the way they looked. Everyone seemed so caught up in their own thing and it eased her mind, some anxiety leaving once her shoulders fell.
However, there were certain gazes following her silhouette. It was probably because of each confident step she made, the elegance she carried, the force she proved to have with every sharp glance she threw around. Her fingers twitched to grab a hold of her dagger. She figured out there were no imminent threats yet.
At the table, she found herself between Zoro and Nami. She was conscious the moment she intentionally sat a tad bit closer to the swordsman who comfortably spread his legs after he tried to fit his swords. Sometimes, when she'd shift in her seat, his knee would brush by hers and goosebumps would erupt on her skin. She allowed herself to enjoy the proximity, the way her gaze would linger on his figure when he talked, the low timbre of his voice soothing her soul.
She had to get used to that idea.
It ached. Her heart would thump painfully in between her ribs each time it felt like he was ignoring her. He didn't say much to her since morning and something inside of her was bleeding, despite the lack of crimson liquid tainting her clothes.
The witch hated him for every cold glance thrown her away or, worse, each time he didn't even look at her when she spoke. To protect herself, her lips got sealed for a long while.
Her attention was piqued by the fight between two marines who seemed unable to swallow up their pride, threatening each other with death, while a beautiful lady sat at the table, looking at them with fear visible on her expression.
The roll of her eyes and the exasperated exhale she let out spoke for her as the witch rested her elbows on the table and held her face with a hand.
"Do people always act like that over stupid things?" Usopp frowned.
"They act worse," the witch scoffed, amused. "The average pirates aren't any better either, you know."
"Bold of you to say that when you're a pirate yourself," Nami shook her head.
"I've never claimed I'm a lady, so," she shrugged.
A waiter with blonde hair dressed in a clean black suit appeared by the men's table. There was a specific customer-friendly smile plastered on his face while he tried to calm the waters.
One of the two men pulled his pistol out just to have his arm being hit by the waiter's feet. In a few seconds only, the other man received the same treatment, getting a strong blow right in the stomach. The blonde waiter rolled on his feet and right after his feet collided with the man's face, he prompted his hands on the table to pin the other pink-haired marine to the floor with a kick in the crown of his head.
"Good fighter," Luffy pointed out with excitement bouncing in his tone.
As if nothing ever happened, the man's fingers grabbed at the plate he abandoned on the table and smiled again.
"No cause for alarm, folks. Please enjoy your meals."
A normal occurrence, most probably.
The waiter came to their table with a few long steps. From up close, his handsome features washed away the obvious forced smile plastered on his thin lips.
"Hi, welcome to our shitty restaurant where the only thing worse than the ambiance is the food. My name is Sanji. What can I get for you?"
His voice was tinted with harshness and he was definitely in a bad mood, visible despite the professionalism he tried to stick to.
Luffy grabbed one of the small loaves of breasla on the plate the waiter just placed down in front of them.
"One of everything, please," their captain spoke with his mouth stuffed.
"What's wrong with the ambiance?" the witch asked, confused. "Not to flatter, but this place is splendid."
Something in that man's head misunderstood it as you're splendid, apparently, since his eyes shone like crystals when they settled on the witch's figure.
Maybe her mouth spoke before she had time to think it over. Bad decision.
"It became splendid the moment you walked in, perhaps," he smiled effortlessly, his voice dropping an octave.
Wait… what?
"Thank you?" she blinked owlishly.
It sounded more like a question. Not the first compliment she received and she also had to admit that most of the men who flirted with her were absolutely gross. This one was decent, even polite — hell, someone could've taken courtesy lessons from him.
The energy shifted. Or, better said, the man next to her shifted. Zoro just crossed his arms over his chest and fixed Sanji with a glare meant to send daggers through his face. The waiter didn't even bother to look at Zoro.
"Is there anything I could bring for these two beautiful ladies?" his smile widened visibly once he spotted Nami right next to the witch. "Would you care for an apéritif to start? Or perhaps some drinks, like one of our signature cocktails? Maybe a glass of Umeshu? You know, something sweet for someone sweet."
His wink was flawless and it would've been perfect if not for Nami's retort.
"Something wrong with your eye?"
Nami was frowning, taken aback by the comment and equally amused.
"Very good question," the witch nodded.
Nami tried her best to stifle a laugh when she realized she was backed up. Usopp was hardly holding back his laughter
"Forgive a man for being blinded by such beautiful ladies," he grinned as if he'd fallen in love not once, but twice in the same minute. "So?"
"Water, please," Nami answered.
"Still, sparkling, mineral? With ice or without? Cubed or crushed?"
"Regular water in a regular glass. Thanks."
"A beer for me."
Zoro's voice was threatening and low, sharp gaze still focused on Sanji.
"A beer for me. I usually have two, but…" Usopp didn't have enough time to continue as he's been interrupted by Luffy.
"A glass of milk for milk for me!" the straw hat said with his mouth still stuffed with bread.
Sanji's head turned towards the witch with a smile curling his lips.
"One of the special cocktails you mentioned, please."
The witch didn't intentionally use that kind voice. It was a habit whenever she talked to strangers to soften her tone and smile out of courtesy and politeness. Probably, her kind gesture has been misunderstood as flirtatious.
"Any preferences? We have plenty of options you can choose from."
His smile already reached his ears and she could feel a specific swordsman straightening his back by her side.
"Nothing too strong, if you may."
"Of course."
"Are you done yet?"
Zoro made all of them turn their attention to him and while usually he wouldn't like it, at that time he couldn't give a single fuck about it. All he did was arch his eyebrow at the waiter and telling him to fuck off as politely as he could, with no cuss words falling from his mouth yet. If Sanji continued to gravitate around their table with that flirtatious smile on his lips, the swordsman might burst a vein on his forehead sooner rather than later.
Sanji wasn't exactly satisfied to be rushed, but he turned on his heels and left. The witch was still looking at Zoro from the corner of her eye, trying her best to understand what just happened.
He seemed fine minutes ago. Not too talkative, definitely, but not… so mad either. What has been with that scowl on his face ever since Sanji appeared? He couldn't be enough of a man child to be jealous of someone's flirting—
I'm getting delusional lately, the witch cut off her own thought process.
"Mad about something, Zoro?" Nami smirked devilishly.
"Everything's fine."
Everything was, in fact, not fine.
The witch was engulfed by her thoughts, fingers pressing and rolling the fork between her fingers after their food was served. She had to admit she was hungry and was trying her best to savor the pieces of meat tickling her taste buds, but it was almost impossible to ignore the shallow sensation in her stomach.
"Was there anything wrong with your tarot?"
Nami, who was by her side, turned her head and offered the witch her entire attention. Maybe she's been playing with her food for long enough to get their attention.
"Not wrong, just something I would've rather not know," she said after swallowing.
"What did you see?"
She shook her head softly with a light chuckle leaving her lips.
"I pulled the Death card." Quickly enough, she realized she shouldn't have started with that.
"Who's dying?!" Usopp almost choked on his food.
"It's metaphorical death," she clarified. "The ending of a cycle and a new beginning, whatever that might mean this time," with a shrug, she proved her own uncertainty.
"Doesn't sound that bad," Zoro commented while he curled his fingers around his glass of beer.
The young woman still remembered each element of the first tarot card she saw before they left The Going Merry. The skeleton dressed in silver armor on the white horse, holding a flag with the number 'XIII' and the people kneeling in front of it, their clothes painted in golden, blue and white.
"It usually implies a hard step to take in order to advance. Change doesn't come unless you allow it and transformation is supposed to help you evolve, not regress. Each time, it doesn't come easily and it shakes up your reality first. Simply put, who the heck knows what might happen in the next few days," she clicked her tongue. "Anything is possible."
"What use do those readings have if you can't even find out what's really going on?" Nami arched her eyebrow.
Fate spoke for itself.
The witch's eyes fixed on hers, regret hanging around her heart.
"They give enough clues, I just have to figure them out."
She felt bad for keeping to herself the other two cards she pulled: the ten of swords and the four of pentacles — betrayal reasoned by protecting yourself. The witch knew who this was about and she didn't mutter a word about it, finding it improper to do so.
"And did you?"
"Not entirely yet," she bit at her bottom lip.
She knew her words were probably just passing by the ears of her friends. The witch was well aware they had no reason to believe in such things or listen to her. They could take her words into account or completely ignore them; it didn't really matter, as for her the reality remained the same.
What mattered was that she knew only half of the upcoming events. The other side was hidden somewhere in shadows and life lessons the cards decided she had to learn on her own.
"I won't need food for a year," Nami commented after she leaned back against the cushions, sighing.
"We should do a toast. Come on, grab your glasses."
The witch's fingers curled around her glass of cocktail with a soft smile.
"To the best crew sailing on the sea and to our victory!"
"No, I'm sorry," Nami furrowed her eyebrows. "What victory exactly?"
The witch didn't even get to bring the glass to her lips, Nami's question sinking deeply into her bones.
"I don't know how many naval battles you guys have been part of…"
"Two dozen, at least," Usopp interrupted her before taking one more sip from his beer.
"Plenty," the witch placed her untouched glass back on the table. "It was a disaster, I'm well aware of it. We could've died before reaching a day of sailing with The Going Merry."
"Then I suppose you agree we were unprepared and uncoordinated," Nami turned towards her.
There's never been such tension lingering around the navigator since the witch got to know her. The orange haired woman was easy going and talkative, she was skilled and was so strong. Someone used to the harsh world they lived in and yet she seemed absolutely stupefied by the mention of said victory.
Nami was tense and uncomfortable as she continued to shift in her seat, surprised wide eyes glaring at Luffy.
"You didn't think to mention your grandfather was a Marine? And not just any marine, a vice-admiral! I don't know about you, but I didn't sign up for that."
"You raided a marine base," Zoro spoke calmly. "Of course that'll make you a target."
The witch only let out a soft sigh and straightened her back with a frown. She was equally worried, but…
"I understand where you're coming from, Nami, but it wouldn't have helped us with anything to know about Luffy's relatives or their status. We're already haunted for merely having a map in our possession."
At their table Sanji appeared again, with a gray plate with a paper in between his fingers this time.
"Your bill, sir."
Luffy pulled his lips together and glanced at Nami before taking the pen and scribbling something.
"Thank you," he smiled up at the waiter.
Sanji took the plate and almost instantly, a mischievous grin splayed on his face.
"No, thank you," and with that, he walked away.
Whatever that was supposed to mean.
Luffy turned towards his friends once again, confident in his opinion.
"I'm not saying it's good that the Marines are on our tail, but we showed them that they can't just roll over us. This crew, our crew, can handle anything."
The witch gently smiled at him and leaned her elbows on the table again.
"We could use your optimism, Luffy, but it's harder than that. At any given time from now on, the simple fact that we're after One Piece is enough of a reason for a Warlord to come after us because right now, we're an easy target. Not to mention the relationship between the Marines and the Warlords. Remember that these seven pirates aren't anyone's toys and if we ever encounter them, it will not always have something to do with the Navy."
"What makes you talk about the Warlords?" the navigator gulped. "They'd be an ever bigger pain in our asses. Average pirates are merciless already—"
Nami stopped herself from talking and looked away. An unusual reaction met with silence from the witch.
"Luffy isn't the only one with relatives—"
"Who the hell is Monkey D. Luffy?" a hoarse voice boomed.
The witch could feel a headache appearing along with the old chef who was hobbling because of his wooden leg. She finally gulped the entire cocktail.
Why was Luffy always getting into trouble?
"I need a drink," Nami exhaustedly threw her head back.
"I need dozens of drinks," the witch sighed heavily.

Maybe it wasn't a camaraderie thing to do to their captain, but they were now occupying some seats on the terrace of the open fish mouth. The witch was in between Nami and Usopp on the large couch, with their backs facing the sea, meanwhile Zoro sat on a chair, at the other side of the table.
The witch had a whiskey bottle from which she poured herself shots once in a few minutes. Usopp had three straws in his mouth and he drank a sweet cocktail from a bowl. Zoro warned him with a chuckle, but he didn't listen.
Nami, on the other side, was silent as she stared into her empty glass for longer than expected. The witch found it worrisome — she was used to her own phases, but it hurt to watch her friend struggle with something she didn't entirely share. Nami's issue was known by them and yet there was something the witch just grasped onto, a tale told by her tarot.
"The next drink is on me," the navigator got up from her seat.
"Nami," the witch's fingers curled around her friend's.
She squeezed Nami's hand gently and looked up at her with concern in her eyes. The witch rubbed her fingers over her knuckles in a silent plea, her eyebrows knitted together.
You're not alone, her touch said. It's alright. We can make it alright.
Nami swallowed down hard and barely squeezed the hand who held her before slipping away from them.
The witch poured herself a shot and gulped it down quickly.
"Why are you in such a hurry as well?"
Zoro's voice made her chest burn worse than the alcohol.
"I'm not going anywhere. I'd just rather not talk," she mumbled as she rolled the small glass between her fingers.
"You know something that I don't," he concluded quickly.
Usopp, who sat like an obedient child and listened, blinked curiously.
"I know a lot of things that you don't, Zoro," she responded with sorrow.
Saying one single word about Nami while she was gone felt unfair.
When the orange haired woman came back to them with a bottle in her hand, her conversation with Zoro somehow turned into a guessing game. Usopp, who obviously didn't take the swordsman's warning into account, went to the dance ring and moved like a sea slug — or that's what Zoro said.
"Are you in?" Nami asked.
"I'd rather not," the witch lowered her gaze.
It was easy to admit she didn't want to share anything about herself. Still, she knew better than that; with some shots, her tongue would loosen up bit by bit.
Her eyelashes fluttered lazily and her gaze fell on the glass she held. The corners of her mouth were slightly curled downwards and she seemed aware of the effect alcohol would have on her. She will succumb into sorrow or happiness, depending on which one clouded her mind first. The lack of answers coming from someone who adored to share experiences and explain was strange.
Nami looked at her from the corner of her eye and accepted the situation as it was. She'll get the witch to talk one way or another. Something was fishy about her behavior — it was poking Nami's senses.
The witch leaned against the cushions and turned her head towards the sea, pushing reality out of her awareness. Zoro's and Nami's conversation sounded muffled from her perspective, caging herself willingly in her head.
Zoro was sitting right in front of her and the witch still thought of him. Her feelings were confusing and analyzing them was a full time job. Maybe it was time for her to accept her situation and deal with the heart aching for him. It was impossible not to think of him, especially when his deep voice sounded like a melody.
She swallowed a lump in her throat and blinked away the overwhelming sensation settling in her chest. Maybe the present could give her peace.
"You're unfair, Roronoa," she crooked a teasing grin and turned her head towards him.
"How's that so?"
His gaze burning holes into her shouldn't affect her as much as it did. Those black oceans shining shamelessly told her everything she had to know, it made hope bloom in the center of her soul.
Maybe there was a chance. A tiny little chance hidden in his mesmerizing eyes.
"She's telling you entire stories, but you don't even bother to elaborate."
He clenched his jaw and scoffed.
"That's not part of the game," the side of his mouth curled upwards.
"Now that I think about it, she's right," Nami smirked.
"Just drink."
With that, they raised their glasses and both glanced at the unusually silent witch.
"I didn't play the game," she excused herself.
"That's why you have to drink. You listened and didn't share," Nami arched her eyebrow. "Are you also unfair, Witch?"
It was Zoro the one who poured whiskey in her empty glass.
"You two are so sneaky," the witch laughed softly and complied.
The alcohol burnt her throat and it was the alcohol getting to her head that brought questionable curiosities in her head… How would his lips taste? Would he make her burn harder? A one single touch from him would both ruin and put her back together.
Alright, I have to find something else to think of.
Hastily, the witch who sat by Nami's side gulped down another shot of whiskey and got up from the cushions. An idea creeped in her mind when her attention fell on the group of four musicians whose music Usopp danced to.
"Where are you heading to?"
"Killing some time," she winked at Nami.
With light steps, she walked to the guitarist and asked for his instrument after he just finished playing. With a nod, he handed her the guitar and she grabbed a chair to sit on. Her legs crossed and she positioned the guitar in her lap easily, like second nature. Gentle fingers tapped the wooden object and her lips curled — it was perfect — before her grip on the neck of the guitar tightened. Her other hand was busy testing the chords, tingles running down her spine at the sensation.
She hasn't felt that in too long.
The alcohol was also a reason for her bold action, but the witch didn't care. The fingers of one hand pressed against the strings, while she played with the other hand, giving life to the guitar. Lively sounds rang through the air and the other musicians quickly picked up on the notes. A classic, an old shanty pirates would sing when drunk after victories, but it was more beautiful when she played it. Even her humming and the rare times when her lips would part to let sweet words fall from between them, it was alluring.
Zoro's attention never left her figure. Her eyes sparkled with freedom and the smile on her face was that of an angel. She was life itself, stuck under soft skin and hidden in her heart. The dim lights of the terrace — the open fish mouth — bathed her in white and warm gold. Her happy face, the smile lines, the crinkles of her eyes, the jovial energy surrounding her; all of these things charmed him over and over again. The longer he looked at her, the worse it got, because he didn't have the courage within himself to avert his gaze from her.
"You should just admit it," Nami said.
He didn't look at her when he let out a low "Hm?"
"Don't you think she's pretty?"
His head snapped towards her.
"What are you talking about?"
"Which one of us are you trying to fool, Zorol; me or yourself?"
Uncomfortably, the swordsman shifted in his seat, clenching his jaw.
"I think you're confused," he responded with fake confidence while he crossed his arms over his chest.
"No, you are confused," Nami scoffed. "You were jealous back then, when Sanji flirted with her."
"You're quick to jump to conclusions."
"If Usopp would be here, he'd agree."
"Unfortunately, he's too drunk to even walk straight, so I suppose he isn't here to support your theory."
"Speaking of him."
Nami just spotted Usopp who came back to their table with a man behind him. A strange man, judging by the hilt of the sword as tall as him — and he wasn't short by any means either.
"Which one of you is Monkey D. Luffy?"
Zoro turned his head lazily, arching his eyebrow.
"I don't recall such a name."
The witch's peace has been entirely destroyed by the new appearance, an unwelcome guest. She could spot him easily because of his big elegant hat with feathers and the sword with precious stones on the hilt.
It was her turn to stand proudly in front of a Warlord she's only heard about from her deceased father. Her back was straight and her chin up high, gaze sharp.
When the man turned his head to her, there was no mistake it was Dracule Mihawk, his golden irises shining with boredom. Even his perfect posture betrayed the obvious superiority he had in front of some mere children.
"I didn't know your father had raised a liar. He was honest, from what I recall."
The witch knew she was her father's splitting image, but how could he know—
The only thing that stopped her eyes from widening in surprise were the nails digging painfully into her palms.
"I don't know any Monkey D. Luffy and I certainly have no clue what you're talking about."
"I have business with your captain. If you know what's good for you, you'll hand him over."
"I don't know either," Nami responded from her seat. "Right, Zoro?"
"You're Dracule Mihawk."
The swordsman got up from his chair and for a moment, the witch wondered if he was insane or more delusional than her, because there's no other way he stood without a worry in the world in front of him.
In front of someone who could slice entire ships into pieces.
"Zoro?" the witch whispered, horrified.
The man in question stepped by Mihawk and walked slowly, steadily, as if the Warlord was his prey.
"It pains me to inform you that tomorrow… you're going to die."
Oh, Gods, please don't.
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
The witch was left speechless. She couldn't find strength in her legs and she had to sit on a chair when all of them gathered in the valley of their ship.
Zoro wasn't a sane man. He needed to be locked up or someone had to get that stick from up his ass before he had a chance to die out of stupidity.
She shook her head countless times while Zoro and Nami argued, rubbing her forehead with her fingertips and squeezing her eyes shut.
"Why do you even care?" the swordsman's cold tone rang in the air.
"Because you're my friend, you idiot."
Nami sounded close to losing it all.
The witch already lost it one hundred times. Her heart wasn't beating, her breath was shallow and she was pinching the bridge of her nose to hold back from saying or doing something rude, something she would later regret. The tension in the room weighed on her chest and she wished it was all just a nightmare.
"You said you don't have any friends," Zoro responded sharply.
The woman's eyes snapped open. He was more insane than she thought. She wanted to yell, but no raw sound filled with pain left her chapped lips. The witch could only remain rigid while Nami left the room with loud stomps.
"You're insane, Zoro," she muttered between gritted teeth.
The witch was tugging painfully at her own strands of her in order to stop the overwhelming feelings from spilling out of her like a tornado. Her shaking fingers curled into her hair and gripped, the burn on her scalp bringing her back to the cabin of their ship.
"This is a suicide mission."
"It's his dream," Luffy smiled, "we can't—"
"Zoro, you're gonna die!" she shouted out of the sudden after she snapped her head towards the swordsman.
She sank her nails into her palms until the sting was painful enough to keep herself stable. It was not to her liking to be pessimistic, to admit that someone wasn't able to do something, but what he wanted to do was not the most intelligent idea.
"This isn't good, this won't end well at all and you shall know it," the witch continued. "You can't seriously believe you'll get out of there better than half-alive."
The swordsman didn't need to respond in order to answer. His unmoving gaze and straightened back told enough: he wasn't going to change his mind at all, no matter what anyone said.
She knew it meant a lot for him to become the strongest swordsman in the world, but in his current state he wasn't able to defeat Mihawk. Out of all the people he could've dwelt with, Zoro chose him, that monster of a man.
"Did you not listen to me when I said 'He cuts entire ships with a mere flick of his wrist'?" she furrowed her eyebrows. "Did you suddenly forget when I clearly warned you all the warlords aren't some mere toys for the big guys in the system, they do whatever the fuck they want!"
She cussed herself for letting out so many emotions, but she seriously couldn't hold back anymore, no matter how worried Usopp seemed, or how confused Luffy was. They had no clue what Zoro was getting into—
"That's exactly why I'm dwelling with him and not someone else," the green-haired man spoke firmly.
"Oh, so your dream is to get cut in half by a sword taller than you?" her irritation slipped.
"Do you really think I trained my entire life to get cut without putting up a fight?"
Even if she didn't want to admit it to herself, one side of his heart was hurt. This entire time, every time they spoke, she openly told him she believes in him, that she trusts him even if it would be her downfall. It sounded like she's been lying this entire time.
"You know very well I never meant that you're weak, but you're not stronger than him! That's your idea of a swordsman? You can believe, you can even hope for the best to happen, but the happiest situation would be a quick death. And the worst? A torturous one."
"I didn't take you for someone who wouldn't understand what the pride of dying in a duel means."
"Fucking hell!"
The witch's tight fist hit the table placed in the middle of the cabin with a quick and hurried motion, her feelings indeed getting the best of her that time. It didn't come to mind the last time she ever acted so harshly.
He turned her words against herself and he was a professional at doing so. She knew what kind of pride swordsmen and pirates carry, she knew what they considered noble because she's spent years of her life listening to men and women talking about such things. Her father did the same, thought he could get out of any problem, until it brought him his death.
"Maybe you should have more faith," Usopp intervened in a small voice.
He was hesitant, the surprise obvious on his face — none of them expected that their most collected crewmate would lash out like that. Luffy was also silent, confused, obviously trying to find a way to get into the thick heads of his friends somehow. The argument escalated quickly and the tension wiped away any ounce of peace.
The witch's eyes were fixed on Zoro's and they burnt holes through his face. He's seen just as many emotions a night ago, when she told him about her past sailing experiences, about the life she left behind as she desperately tried to find freedom. And if freedom felt like that, he wondered if she really wanted it. He succumbed to the flames of hell in her eyes, but snapped himself out of it.
She was angry at him, he figured out quickly.
He didn't like that gaze. He'd do almost anything for her to stop looking at him that way, as if she wanted him away from her, as if his very presence brought her suffering. Almost anything.
"You see just what you want to see, Zoro. You're deliberately ignoring our worries, thinking we have something against you, thinking god-knows-what about how we're not your friends or whatever the fuck's going through your head—"
I'm worried for you, she swallowed a lump in her throat.
"Just because me and Nami are trying to stop you, it doesn't mean we're assholes keeping you away from your dream. We might be assholes, but we want you to be alive, not six feet under the ground!" her voice raised slightly at the end again, her breath shallow.
"You're worried about her, not about me. I don't need your worry."
"Zoro—" this time Luffy tried to intervene.
"You're impossible," she faintly spoke, like a ghost.
She gave up.
She buried her face into her own palms and sat on a chair, her elbows prompted on her knees. She had so much faith in Zoro, she could barely even point out how many feelings swirl in her heart when it comes to him, but she was aware he was mortal. He could die at any given time.
"Right, Zoro. Go die with pride filling you up the same way that man's sword will," she bitterly mumbled.
I hate you, Roronoa Zoro. You and your stupid pride, along with the fucked way I feel about you. I hate it all.
The poor woman was exhausted, her heartstrings twisting into knots, making it hard to ignore the pain running through her entire being. His name rolled on her tongue so many times in only a few minutes and it made her situation worse, that one word made of two syllables cutting through her chest.
The witch regretted her words immediately, but didn't say anything for a while.
Usopp nudged Luffy into leaving the other two alone and it was probably one of the few times when the straw hat understood subtleties without any questions.
"Take your time and clean your swords, Zoro, we'll be waiting outside," Luffy spoke.
The witch heard two pairs of steps that walked away, her face still buried in her palms. She gulped and took in a few deep breaths before she moved from her seat, straightening her back and moving to the window of the cabin, hands gripping at the edge of the wood.
She didn't throw a glance at Zoro. Silence stretched between them while the witch focused on the stars shining in the night sky.
I shouldn't have been here in the first place, she thought to herself, twisting the blade deeper into the wound. I shouldn't have accepted to come with you. I should've stayed in Syrup Village and left with another ship, to go somewhere far away from you. I should've known better that there's no way in hell I can grasp at the mere notion of freedom.
There's no place for me in heaven and there's no place for me in hell either. I'm stuck here, in this body, with these feelings and this swordsman in this galley.
I should've known. I should've known I was damned to die on my feet, with a bleeding heart and my back turned at you. I should've—
She gulped down harshly, blinking away the tears.
I want to stay with you all so badly.
"Zoro," she whispered his name again.
Tears stung in her eyes at the sound of his name. It felt like it was the last time she could hear his name repeatedly, the same name carved with silver on her heart.
"Be careful," she continued, her voice faint.
"Why do you care?" his bitter tone resounded in her eardrums. "Everyone seems deadly interested in my actions lately."
Only then she turned her head towards him and her ribcage protested when the prisoner that was her heart beat so harshly.
"I don't need a reason. I simply do. Please, Zoro."
Like the idiot that she was, she begged him to stay alive. A confession was hidden between her chapped lips — she picked at them with her nails and there was blood surfacing on top of the skin. Her tongue swiped over her bottom lip, the metallic flavor tickling her taste buds.
Judging on the way his jaw ticked with tension, he grasped onto enough of her words. Or maybe he refused to do so — who knows?
"Don't throw your life away. You'll never fulfill your promise if you die today. Be mindful. Don't rush when fighting, don't get angry if he pushes on your buttons and irritates you. Be wise, Zoro."
It was a lost fight on her side. There was nothing she could do to stop him, so at least she had to give him the best advice she thought of.
When he finally looked at her, her breath hitched. His brown eyes saw through her soul and she wondered if he could also feel how much she cared for him, the way she cared for him. She liked everyone on the ship equally, but her affection for him took a different path, one she's never walked on before.
He didn't say a word, letting everything sink in.
Maybe there is a chance he gets what I meant.
"Be careful."
This time, her voice trembled but she didn't look away. She stood there, staring at him as if it was the last time she saw his eyes open.
She turned towards the window again, nails digging into the wooden frame. She refused to look at him when she figured out tears could spill over her cheeks like a river if he continued staring at her, burying himself further into her soul. She only wanted him to be safe, because nothing was greater than that. If all of them could be kept away from harm's way, she would have days filled with peace.
Too bad such a thing was impossible in that unforgiving world.
Behind her, Zoro moved around and left the galley. After a few minutes, he came back with a bottle of oil for his swords. He dragged a chair and sat down at the table, more silent than usually. With utmost care, he took one of his black swords and unsheathed it, leaving the scabbard on the table. He poured some oil on the blade and used a piece of cloth to spread it even from tip to hilt.
The witch only dared to throw glances with an aching heart. She couldn't bring herself to leave, to stay away from him for too long now more than ever. She swallowed hard before making a tough decision.
Wordlessly, she moved from the window. Her heavy steps echoed in the room until they stopped right by Zoro's side.
"Can I help?"
Calm, just like she always tries to be, she spoke with fear clinging to every nerve in her body. She would blame herself for the rest of her life if they would part ways like that. More than her fears and worries, he mattered. He deserved all the pain she was capable of harboring inside her poor heart, he was worth the fight with her own self.
The swordsman didn't expect her gesture. He supposed she would storm out of the room, that she would scold him or try to stop him, just like before. He guessed she was more sane than him, even if he couldn't bring himself to care enough about that. Her reaction pained him in ways he couldn't explain.
His fingers pressed the piece of cloth against the blade of his words. He thought of being petty, shutting her down. Why couldn't she believe in him more? Was he that weak?
He nodded. Like the stupid man that he was, with no need for spoken words, he accepted her help. He watched her blank face, devoid of any life, as she took another sword from the table, following his exact steps.
Except, her hold on the white sword was gentle like a feather. A careful grip, so it wouldn't slip from her hand, but gentle nonetheless. He stopped whatever he was doing, focusing on the woman who rested her hips against the table, close to him, so close, but, oh, so far away. Zoro watched her unsheathe his Wado Ichimoji and place it on the table. Her hand reached out for the bottle of oil and her other one took advantage of the opportunity, taking the piece of cloth from his own hold.
Their fingers touched. Hers were cold, but they still burnt his skin. Electric shocks traveled through his body and his chest tightened.
She poured some oil on the material and then left the bottle on the table, gripping at the hilt of the sword again. She moved the piece of cloth over the blade carefully, as if she's done it before countless times. Left, right, left, right. Everytime she exhaled, her breath was trembling, despite the slow pace of her gestures.
He paid more attention to the hands holding his sword: they were shaking when she placed the sword on the table. She poured some more oil on the cloth and dipped the tip of her index finger in the same spot. With the same finger, she drew on the blade a symbol Zoro didn't recognize.
With each stroke of her fingertip, she traced lines and connected them in a barely visible symbol: an arrow pointed upwards.
"It's a rune meant for protection," she explained softly as she sheathed the sword. "It's associated with strength and honor. It doesn't matter if you don't believe in it, because I do and that's enough."
It was true: he didn't believe in such things and never did. The swordsman never found it reasonable nor did he ever try to figure it out. It didn't mean he denied her beliefs — no, but he was indifferent towards it.
However, he couldn't act indifferent towards the witch, which he found at that point to be straight up painful. It was painful to look at her and see torment in her deep eyes, it hurt to see sorrow painted on her angelic features when none of them was dead.
The witch did the same gesture with the other two swords, carefully holding each one of them, as if they were her own treasures, not his.
"Come back alive," she whispered.
If he wouldn't have been so close to her, her voice would've sounded like a breath.
"That's all I ask of you. If you wish so, then no sword will cut through you. Blades can cut steel, but nothing can cut will."
What was she mourning when she said those things? Who did she think of? he wondered.
May the gods protect you tomorrow, she hoped. They've taken so many away from me along the way.

I went on a deep dive into night owl research at like 2 am and actually cried? Bad tears. Tears of "we're perfectly normal yet the entire world is build around morning people, tells us that we're lazy, lies and says that we're harming ourselves if we follow our bodies natural sleep patterns, causes us to live in sleep deprivation our entire lives, and treats being a night owl like it's a moral failing. Most advice for night owls is how to fix your sleep schedule, how to become a morning person, how to be a productive member of society by doing something that will result in you never feeling rested, moving through the world with constant fatigue and brain fog, cognitively impaired because you're always functioning on a deficit."
Until a month ago, I had never known what it felt like to wake up well rested. I've spent the last three years trialing too many sleep medications to count, doing sleep cbt where my sleep hours have been meticulously tracked, restricted to night time, three different sleep studies, and after all that I'm just a night owl. The first week I let myself go to bed when I actually got tired and wake up without an alarm (to see when I'd naturally wake up) was the first time I experienced true restfulness in my life. And what do you know? My body's natural rhythm kicked in, and now I go to bed at 3:30 (sometimes 4:30) and naturally wake up at 11:30, and I feel good! I'm sleep the exact same amount of hours as before (with the help of ambien) but everything is different.
It feels weird and good, but I also feel so angry and cheated. You mean I could have had this my whole life, but you built the world around working 9-5, made waking up at 6 am a badge of honor, and shoved everyone into the same patterns even though it's fucking biology??? No, night owls can't be "trained" to become morning people. Leave us alone.
I had fantasies last night of opening a night owl "cafe", someplace we could go when the rest of the world slept. Holding book clubs and meet ups and trivia and all that fun shit. Expanding to include a night time corner store next door with your basic groceries and household necessities. Hours of operation 8 pm - 6 am. What a difference that would make!

TW: Pet Loss
I lost my most special, precious boy this past Saturday. My beautiful firstborn son, Triton Copernicus, crossed the Rainbow Bridge just before noon. I held him as the doctor put him to sleep. I've never loved another living being the way I loved Triton. I adopted him in 2018 when I first got my own home; his paperwork said he was 4, but when I took him to the vet, they said he could be as old as 10. In late 2018 he was diagnosed with diabetes, and despite regular insulin, there were other complications that led to Triaditis and then ketoacidosis in early 2019. I had to take him to emergency care, but they said with treatment his prospects were good, so I spent several thousand of my savings on his hospital stay and recovery.
For the next 6 years, he flourished.
This guy was my life. We had a routine. He was my perfect little boy and he slept against me under the covers every night. He got his insulin injections twice a day and he was good about it. He loved dinner. He spent most of the evening in my lap made biscuits whenever I'd speak to him. He loved cheese, the rain, and grooming me. He'd consistently stand in front of my computer monitors and knock my mouse off the desk for attention. He'd slap me if I were in bed and he needed something.
He'd been to the vet for his last checkup just a year ago.
Saturday morning, I woke up around 6:00 AM and he was in the bed, but he wasn't acting right. He was disoriented, stumbling, losing his balance, staring at nothing. He started puking and having diarrhea. I took him to the vet at 9:00 AM and after bloodwork and an ultrasound, the doctor told me he had a mass in his abdomen, it was surrounded by fluid, his liver and kidneys were failing, and his blood sugar was critically low. She said I could take him to UT Animal Hospital for emergency surgery, but he was in such a compromised state that it was very possible that he wouldn't make it through surgery, or the subsequent treatments, and even if he did, I was only giving him a little time that would probably be miserable.
Looking back, he did seem a little less active the past week, but cats are notoriously good at masking pain. If anything, I thought maybe his insulin needed to be adjusted.
If you've ever had to make the choice to put a pet to sleep, you know that the guilt is awful. You second guess your decision, even if the vet tells you you're making the humane choice. There's a part of me that is at least grateful that the end came quickly; I'm not sure I could have handled seeing him suffer and waste away. But at the same time, Saturday was a shock. After the doctor told me his test results and I understood what was going to happen, all I could about was how in the last couple of days, everything I'd experienced with Triton had been his "last" -- his last dinner, his last time chasing his sister, his last time making biscuits, his last time sleeping against me.
Now, I hate being at home. I see him everywhere. His toys, his favorite blanket, his insulin bottle in the fridge, every fucking piece of fur on my bed and clothes. I've never felt pain like this. I knew it would come eventually, but fuck. Nights are the worst. He should be in my lap right now. He should have just had his insulin and his dinner and he should be napping in my lap while I bullshit online. And then in a few hours, I'll get into bed and he'll get into his regular spot to my right, wait for me to pull up the covers so he can get under them, and then curl up with his feet against my skin, and his nose against my arm.
None of that will ever happen again and I miss him so much, it really does feel like there's a physical void in my chest, in my stomach. I keep having to stop my thoughts because nearly all of them are of him and if I dwell on it for more than a few seconds, the tears start. Everything that brought me joy just feels bitter. The rain (Triton loved the rain like I do -- I'd crack the window and he'd lay there and smell it and listen to it, and nap), the snow (I thought I'd have another cozy winter with him, but I won't), the electric fireplace, my snacks (which he'd try to steal) games/movies (he'd lay in my lap as I watched them, and sometimes I'd comment to him). That little boy was part of literally every aspect of my life.
Apologies for the long, rambling post, but I have so much grief in me that I wanted to channel it somewhere. No one has to respond to this, I know it's awkward and a lot. But if you've lost a beloved pet, you'll know what I mean. I have two other cats, and I'm sure this sounds terrible, but I never bonded with them the same way. Triton was different. I love them, but my feelings for Triton were literally like he was my child. It hurts to even pet my other cats now, as cruel as that sounds. I pet them and I think of Triton.
I hope he was happy. I hope he understood, as much as he could, that I loved him. I think he probably did. I'm glad the vet told me I did the right thing.
I know time is the only thing that'll help, but God. I hurt so much I wish I could put my body on hold.

AITA for being passive aggressive with my flatmate because of how she's been treating me while I'm ill? (TW for brief mention of SA.)
I (26, NB) have a history with ovarian cysts. It appears I have another again, but I'm waiting on a scan from the hospital to confirm this and get a treatment plan sorted. Just under 2 weeks ago I had to leave work mid-shift because the pain I'd been having weeks had escalated to the point I was almost crying at my desk at work. I went to the walk-in clinic, and was immediately re-directed to A&E (aka the ER, for you Americans.)
While there I had several tests and physical exams ran, including one invasive internal exam. This was triggering for me. My flatmate (25, F) knows I have a history of SA. I was offered inpatient care until my scan date, but I feel like I can manage this pain at home for now. I'm on a high dosage of codine and off work until my scan comes up.
Now, my flatmate. When I got back from the hospital, she was awake in her bedroom, music on, pacing round. She did not come out to see me, she messeged me saying she had a rough day, and that she wouldn't want to "say something she didn't mean." Bearing in mind, she says this almost every day after work. No comfort, no nothing. She also left the kitchen a mess with dishes in the sink and a bag of food waste tied and left on the counter. If I were her, I'd have been waiting for her to get back (if I didn't go to the hospital to be with her), and I would have cleaned up after myself at minimum.
The next day, I washed my dishes with the last of the washing up liquid. There wasn't enough to do her plates and pans she left in the sink overnight too. I took out her food waste bag. Bearing in mind, standing for too long makes me nauseous from the pain at the moment.
A few hours later she came into the kitchen and said "do you have more washing up liquid?" in an angry tone, and when I said no, she just made herself more food and left the dishes in the sink. She went to her boyfriends the next morning and stayed there for several days. She didn't replace the washing up liquid, so I had to walk to the store to get it myself, and I almost passed out doing so.
This is where the passive aggression started. I left her dishes in the sink for the 4 days she was there. She did not look happy to see them there when she got back. She's now been leaving my dishes in the sink now, even when I do hers for her.
Now, for this next thing, 2 things are important. 1. My pain makes it excruciating for me to bend over at the moment, and 2. I have told her this.
Because of my pain when bending over I've been putting my things higher up off the ground, including my towel in the bathroom, which I've been putting on the top part of the towel rack. I've also been putting the remote control for the central heating on the bannister on top of the stairs (where we can both grab it for easy access.)
She's repeatedly been switching our towels around so hers is on top, after I have explicitly told her I've been doing this to manage my pain. Same situation with the remote, she's just been putting it on the floor outside our bedrooms. I keep wordlessly putting them back to how I put them now, because I have told her why I've been doing what I've been doing, but she swaps them back.
Last night I messeged her reiterating why I was doing what I was doing. Less than 10 minutes later, everything was back how it was, my towel on the bottom rack, remote on the floor. So, I've picked up my towel and I've draped it over the shower tail instead, which she will have to move when she gets ready tomorrow morning. I almost dropped hers on the actual floor but I decided that would be a step too far. I shot her another message asking "So, did you move everything back before or after you read this message...?", and now I'm waiting for her to get up tomorrow AM and see it.
In general I feel I could have been more mature and direct in dealing with this, but I honestly don't understand how someone can manage do below the bare minimum when their flatmate is this sick. When she just had a flu I was cleaning up around the house and making it nice for her, but it feels like she's actively antagonising me at the moment and I don't know why. AITA for the passive aggression?
What are these acronyms?

Some Answers To Your Questions (Transcribed by Janice's Daughter Naomi)
May 7, 2024
Hi all,
This is Janice's daughter Naomi again. We've been getting a lot of questions from some curious new followers and thought we'd just compile them all here in one post. Mom tends to veer off topic when she gets going so I'm here to transcribe the important bits and leave out the rest.
Q&A
Q: Can you tell us more about your alien abduction?
A: 1997 - October 14th. Matthew Mark Luke John and I were in a brief period of separation and I was home alone with Naomi. I'd just put her to bed around 7 o'clock and walked outside to have a cigarette (Camel blues - and while we're on the subject, why don't they allow smoking indoors anymore? We used to be able to light up an honest to god Pall Mall in the middle of Catholic Mass back in the 70s) [note from Naomi: this rant went on for 13 solid minutes before I got her back on track]. Anyway, I walked out to stand on the front porch and I passed out. Next thing I know, I'm getting strapped up and suspended from the ceiling, high in the air with my belly down and gooch out. I couldn't see anything but the floor at least 10 feet beneath me. There were probably nine or ten little guys looking up at me from below like town perverts waiting for an upskirt shot. Ugly little fuckers. You could see through their skin to their organs. I'm pretty sure the one who strapped me up was the leader because he had a hat. Then suddenly the lights went dark and I screamed - and that's when I heard three other screams. Definitely human. I have no idea who they were or where they are now and it tortures me twenty four hours out the goddamned day. Then I felt a big ol' gust of pressure and I was transported to some sort of void. Black all around me. A few seconds later the Hat Guy wheeled a TV in front of me and turned it on. For the next 3 hours and 15 minutes, the screen played James Cameron's "Titanic", which I found very odd as the movie wasn't due to release on Earth until December. As soon as the credits rolled I woke up in my bed as if nothing happened. I almost thought it was a dream until I dug into my morning bowl of cottage cheese and tasted sulfur as if my entire mouth was painted with the stuff. Now anything I orally consume tastes like that. I have to get my nutrients through a DIY feeding tube I engineered in '98. Patent still pending but I hold on to hope.
Q: You don't seem too worried about your missing husband, but your daughter Naomi does. Why?
A: I don't know - you'll have to ask Naomi why she cares so goddamned much [note from Naomi: he's my dad]
Q: Your bit isn't funny
A: Is this some type of internet explorer slang?
Q: Why do you hate your 4 year old grandson so much? Do you hate kids?
A: I love children! Zachary is not a child. He is a government drone. [note from Naomi: We're working on this relationship]
Q: If you could find the other victims from the night of your abduction, what would you ask them?
A: Oh, too many questions to name! But to start I'd ask if they also watched Titanic or if they got a different film like Boogie Nights or Good Will Hunting.
Q: You say you're single and looking - what kind of partner are you looking for?
A: Anyone who can slap my ass and ride a hog, honey (MUST be willing to assist in twice-daily tadpole experiments)
[note from Naomi: please do not indulge her in this, I am begging you]
---
That's all for now, folks.
Once again, my father is still missing. Last seen wearing a tweed suit in Atlanta, Georgia six months ago, black toupee, 5'3", ~230lbs, walks with a slight limp, favoring his left side. His full name is Matthew Mark Luke John Christ.
Please, PLEASE reach out if you have any information whatsoever on his whereabouts. As Mom said before, there are no known photographs of him as he is staunchly against photography as a concept and industry. If it helps, he looks a little bit like John Goodman if John Goodman was 5'3" with a black toupee and a limp.
Maybe we'll do another one of these if we get some more questions in bulk - Zachary and I are moving in with Mom to help her out until Dad comes back so things are a little chaotic here as you can imagine. Until then, please spread the word about my father if you can.
-Naomi

I am not doing well.
At all.
Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 42. I live at house number 42. As a life-long Hitchhiker's Guide fan, this is a birthday I've looked forward to for years (for my brother's 42nd a couple of years ago, I bought him a bowl of jet-black petunias, with a whale toy nestled amongst them. I was wondering how he would top it) but I cancelled my birthday this year.
Last year, my family drove down to visit us. My side of the family isn't large. Both sets of grandparents are dead, my mum was an only child, my dad's brother - who never had kids of his own - died when I was about 4. My brother is single and doesn't want kids or a partner. So my side of the family is me, my parents, my brother.
And we're close.
So yeah... they drove down to see me for my birthday. They stayed a couple of nights. They were going to leave shortly after breakfast on the morning of March 16th, but I persuaded them to stay just a little longer. To come with us to soft play, and then go after lunch.
They left mine at about 2pm. My little boy gets very distressed when people leave, so they had to sneak out (hence why they were originally going to leave after breakfast, straight from the hotel, so they didn't upset him.) As predicted, he got upset, and I texted mum. She answered straight away.
Anyway. She always gives me updates when she's on the road.
"We've just crossed the bridge. We're stuck in traffic. We've stopped for a coffee." And after an hour and three quarters, when I hadn't heard from her, I sent her a WhatsApp asking how they were getting on, then carried on playing with my 4 year old.
An hour later, I realised she hadn't replied. I checked my phone - the WhatsApp had been delivered but not opened. I didn't think anything of it immediately. Then half an hour after that, I saw that I'd forgotten to give mum her mother's day present, and messaged her again.
About another half hour after that message I realised what the time was, and started to worry. They ahould have been home, and still none of my WhatsApps had been opened. I called her. It rang and rang, with no answer. I tried my brother's phone. The same happened. I called Dad. Same again. I called and called and called, and by now panic was setting in.
So I began looking online for traffic updates. Any reason at all why they may be held up, unable to answer their phones. I saw that there had been an accident on the M25 around the time they were due to get there, and obviously my mind jumped to the worst. But the more I looked into that accident, it didn't seem to fit. Traffic reports said it involved a van and a lorry, and besides, if they were held up in traffic, they'd still be answering their phones, surely?
I looked at google maps, and the a21 looked completely blocked. Dark red for miles. I went on a local "what's happening" facebook group and there were several posts saying the same thing. Avoid the A21. Serious head-on collision. A stolen car being chased by police had ploughed into a white Audi, with three passengers. Two elderly. Judging by the suitcases, they'd been or were going on holiday.
I cannot begin to explain the horror of reading that. We began calling every single hospital we could think of, trying to track them down, and finally found them in Brighton. My mother-in-law raced over to us. The plan was that she would take me, my husband, and my son over to my sister-in-law's (which was on route) drop my son off there, then take me and my husband to hospital.
Just as my MIL arrived, the police turned up to tell me there had been an accident. I think they were very confused that I seemed to know more about it already than they did.
Anyway. The next 2 months were literal hell. My dad was in a coma, and at 80 years old, was walking a knife's edge between life and death. His list of injuries was extensive. From top to bottom, he had a broken shoulder blade, broken collarbone, every single bone in his right arm was broken, his elbow completely shattered, he had 5 broken ribs, his spine was fractured in two places, his pelvis was shatterd, his femur broken. One lung was punctured and collapsed, he had internal bleeding into stomach, his renal artery was damaged.
My mum and brother fared better. My brother had quite severe concussion and extensive bruising, but nothing else, my mum also had bruising and a small tear in her liver, but they were otherwise conscious.
After a week, both my mum and brother were discharged from hospital. We found a 2nd hand mattress that we set up in our living room, so that me, my husband, and my son could sleep in there, my brother taking my son's room, and my mum taking ours until dad could come home.
And he seemed to be miraculously improving.
But after a week, we received a phone call at around 3am. Dad had taken a turn for the worse. His heart had stopped twice, and they had made the decision to not resuscitate should it happen again. We should get to the hospital to say goodbye. We were told it wasn't a matter of 'if' but 'when.'
We stayed by his side for 36 hours, telling him stories. Remembering happy memories. And after those 36 hours, I remember the doctor's exact words. "I don't understand what miracle has happened here, but I think you are safe to go home."
My dad is a miracle. He improved. He woke up. 6 weeks later, he was well enough to be moved to a hospital closer to home.
But the trauma of those two months will always stay with me. I can no longer celebrate my birthday because the association and guilt that I was the one who made them stay later, and it was because of me that they were there in the first place, are too intertwined. I have been officially diagnosed with suffering from PTSD as a result of it. Yesterday was awful, but I know tomorrow will be even worse.
Tell your loved ones that you love them. I am fortunate to still be able to do so, but that can be taken away from us in a heartbeat

hiiii 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 (sorry that’s. a lot of questions.)
Never apologize I Love saying much more than I need to and also it means so much to me that you would want to Know <3333 thank you sm Rickie I adore your interest, and all of these were very fun to answer and think about <3
1. "who is/are your comfort characters?"
I love all 4 or more of my little ships boys going through the absolute worst. They're probably the closest I have to comfort characters in that they're just my beloved little guys. This includes leading stoker John Torrington on the basis that well you see. he was just a Little guy. even if he may have been The leading stoker. I do also of course have my character(s)/real historical figures that I'm Rotating In My Mind fastest and most often more recently. which I do think you specifically must know. but well what is comfort for me is The Worst for them often times. They're never having much comfort in general tbh.
2. "Lighter or matches?"
Lighter. I've tried both recently, this ones just. easier for some reason. neither are for me but lighters more convenient.
3. "Do you leave the window open at night?"
I Cannot though I'd like to because my window is extremely heavy and large and difficult to open.
4. "Which cryptyd do you believe in?"
Depends a lot on how you define cryptid, but I would probably say like. out of the 'classic' cryptids, either 'Not Deer' or the Mothman. the former I have heard pretty convincing accounts of. the latter is a vibes basis.
5. "What color are your eyes?"
Light Jopson haunted doll blue.
Probably reading and writing different things. I also love coming up with characters I then never really do much with.
11. "Favorite extracurricular activity?"
12. "What kind of day is it?"
One of those Sundays that's not so much lazy as it is Tired. from not sleeping well the previous night. but not so tired I'd genuinely be able or want to Sleep so its just. mildly not brain functioning Sunday.
13. "When was the last time you ate?"
Probably a few hours ago now. The Cumberland Farms breakfast sandwich was. well. okay there is something worse than when their croissants are dry and stale in 1 corner: When they're . mystery wet and soggy in 1 corner.
19. "Imagine we're at a sleepover, would you paint my nails?"
If you would like me to, I would absolutely try. Id find it very fun but do be warned I am Probably not very good at it I do not have much experience. But I would very much like to try with you.
20. "Do you say soda or pop?"
SECRET THIRD ANSWER: TONIC. I'm normal about 'dying/archaic' dialects btw.
21. "Something you've kept since childhood?"
If you consider childhood any age before 18, a lot of. any of my possessions. but if you mean something from earlier childhood, I've kept a lot of plushies from various times and 1 blanket since I was probably a toddler or even younger. Its done remarkably well for much use with exactly 1 small hole and just going from 'white with various colored animal patterns' to 'grey with various colored animal patterns'.
22. "What type of person are you?"
I have already answered this but once again will say that first and foremost I am an unreliable narrator. secondly so is everyone. thirdly well me I'm more so to a higher degree. Much like many people I'm not unlike Ishmael Moby Dick in this regard. Also most things I do are in some way motivated by Fear.
23. "How do you feel about chilly weather?"
I like it very much, but I also like All weather very much, there's something somewhat good about all of it.
24. "If we were together on a rooftop, what would we be doing?"
Maybe just laying in silence but we could also be talking about things. The Red Wings, various blorbos from History, either of our own lives.

Tell us the story of you and the wife!!!!
I gotta warn ya, it's a long one
It all started 6 years ago! I was on meetme talking to this girl in the big city. I, a 23 year old country girl, had never seen a town with more than 600 people. We connected on a dumb meme circulating at the time and had a bunch in common.
So I decided one cold winters night that I'd leave work at 23:30, shower, and take off for the 9 hour drive to see this incredible woman whom I'd fallen head over tea kettle for. I only hit 3 blizzards on the way across 2 separate state lines and almost wrecked the car once when I skidded over ice through a national forest, but I made it to the big city at 11 Saturday morning
So I had a nap in her arms and we went off to explore the sights! Now mind you, I had 3 different family members AND my roomates panicking the whole time about losing my kidneys. We went to Walmart at 22:00 and I couldn't believe my eyes. You see dear reader, where I grew up, the general store closed at 18:30 and everywhere else closed at 19-20.
So she grabs a ring from the display (the 5-15 dollar cheepies) (again, we've talked over the course of 3 days I think) and proposed in the middle of the crafts section at the walmart, and of course I day yes
So we go to Dennys to celebrate our engagement! I've never been to a Dennys so I'm bewildered at the balls of pancake they brought out and the icing I've never been able to replicate. So we go back to her place for more snuggling and stuff just talking about whatever came to mind.
2am Sunday morning I head off with tears in my eyes to head back across 2 state lines to pickup my roomate so we could both go to work, and I get home at midnight, absolutely obliterated. So dumbass (that's me) starts job hunting in her area. No responses at all. Welp I guess that's a sign, back to our regularly scheduled programming. So I'm talking to her and I mention the lack of job and she literally said it's normal and it'll be easier if I'm there to do it in person.
So I head up there for another weekend plus a couple days and I hit the temp agencies hard, determined to get something, and I did! So after 3 visits and 4 weeks we pool money together and get our first apartment together! It was a 4 bedroom bottom floor of a duplex for not much at all. We clean up the mess the last tenants left and got it sorta furnished.
So I go back home and quit my job that I hated and it was the best day ever. And I loaded up my car with the first load of stuff and moved in! 2 more car loads and everything I owned was moved in.
She gave me the ring on May 17 2018
Tomorrow we celebrate 6 years of happy marriage
