Affair
Summary: Y/n founds out about her husband’s affair.
Word count: 1207
Warnings: Angst, Bucky is not good in this im sorry. Sad yet strong reader. Infidelity. Sharon and Steve. Little teeny tiny bit of body hate. Swear words.
A/n: there’s a line from my favourite song of Adeles.
Masterlist
Part 2
The day she found out her husband was having an affair it felt like time had stopped. Thousands of questions sworn inside her head, she didn’t blame her husband or the other woman nope she blamed herself. It was her fault her husband was unfaithful, it was her fault she had not been enough for him, it was her fault for not satisfying his needs. It was her fault.
After the self-blaming and self-hating she moved on to anger. Angry at her husband betraying her, angry at the other woman - a woman she had called a friend for 15 years - angry at herself, just unadulterated anger.
Then came the self-pity party, where all she did was cry and cry and cry. She would stand in front of the full body mirror just in her underwear, picking at every single detail on her skin hating what she saw in the reflection. Then she would cry even more due to the fact that after finally loving and being kind to her own body, she was back to hating it. However, she didn’t just feel sorry for herself, no, no she felt sorry for her husband, her children, her husband’s mistress and the husband of her husband’s mistress.
Oh and then there was denial - but that went straight out of her head pretty quickly, after all she did catch them going at it with her own two eyes.
And finally came acceptance. She accepted her husband’s extra marital affair, she accepted that she had been betrayed by two people close to her. Completely aware that her marriage was over and dead.
Her heart remained broken though, that would never change.
~~~
The sound of the door opening use to bring a smile on Y/ns face, sending her straight to the door awaiting him like a goddamn lapdog. Now though all it did was make her wonder which excuse she was going to be given.
Sitting on the sofa with her knees pulled up staring at the tv screen, chuckling quietly to herself as Peter Griffin continues his antics, wondering to herself why Lois puts up with him. Already smelling the mistress’s perfume on him makes her roll her eyes.
“Hey bab-“
“I filed for divorce.”
He actually has the audacity to act shocked “w-what do you mean? Bab-“
“Stop. Just stop. I know about your affair, I know you’ve been sleeping with Sharon for the past six months, probably longer I don’t know” mumbling the last part quietly “but all that matters is that I know so now we’re getting divorced.”
She sees him in her peripheral nervously shifting foot to foot, colour completely drained from his face, is that tears? Gross. Before he can even get a good enough excuse for his betrayal straight, she continues.
“Don’t say anything it’s not going to change my mind or decision. I spoke with my lawyer who thinks I’m being to kind - his words not mine - anyway I told him in don’t want money or the house from you. Custody will be split between us evenly” standing up wrapping her arms around herself “you know at first I wanted so many answers but now I just want to know one thing, do you think you can be honest for once? Do you actually think Sharon is going to want you know that I’m leaving you? Think you both can run off into the sunset and live happily ever after?” Using a baby like voice at the end she chuckles at his expression, she can’t tell if it’s heartbreak that she’s leaving him or heartbreak that his mistress isn’t going to want him anymore - laughable.
“The answer is no by the way. I feel bad though, you both deserve each other. Both so wrapped up in your own selflessness that you were happy to ruin two marriages, two families! To betray, lie and deceive your spouses who happen to be friends! All for what? Sex?” Stepping back when he tries to reach out “don’t fucking touch me! Don’t you dare try and touch me AFTER you’ve been with her! What the actual fuck is wrong with you? And don’t you dare stand there and cry! You did this, you both did. Oh and Steve knows” Literally as she said that his phone started ringing “Go ahead and answer it’s probably your best friend or your mistress, go ahead James and answer” at the sound of his first name he flinched, he pulled his phone out and sighed, declining the call he looked back at the woman who he had the privilege of calling his wife. The mother of his children, the woman who he has loved from the moment he was introduced to her. The woman who he cheated on.
“I’m sorry” is all he could say, he really didn’t remember how the affair started or why on earth he continued it, he has this perfect wife at home, his other half his soulmate and he cheated, he couldn’t even give her a good enough excuse. His guilt was hitting like a ton of bricks, he betrayed his wife and his best friend all for a quick fuck that wasn’t even good.
“You’re sorry? I’m sorry too. I’m sorry that when the morning comes, you’re going to have no one. I feel for you James honestly - stop swaying you’re making me feel seasick, sit down.” Watching him sit on the chair she moves to sit where she was originally sat before.
“Listen I just want to get this off my chest before I go to bed okay, I have loved you so deeply that I honestly don’t think I’d ever stop loving you but James I can’t forgive you, maybe one day in the future I will but not right now. I have been stood by your side through every single thing that has happened to you, and yet you betray me. I don’t know what went wrong with us but whatever I did I’m sorry-“ when he tries to intervene she puts her hand up “Just listen! I’m sorry that our story has ended this way but i can’t trust you anymore or even stand the sight of you if I’m being honest. You have given me something that I can't live without, you mustn't underestimate that when you are in doubt. But this is where our story ends.”
Wiping her tears with the sleeve of her jumper, she stands up stronger and taller than ever before.
“You can sleep on the sofa or head to Sharon’s I know Steve said he’d be staying with Sam and Nat. Tomorrow I’ll be taking the kids to our new house and then I guess we’ll go from there” Shrugging her shoulders as she doesn’t know what else to say to him. “Goodnight James, I truly hope you all the best”
Once in the comfort of her bedroom she listens to hear his movements but all she can hear are his cries. Smiling sadly, she climbs into the bed, she fears the unknowing of what her future holds whilst also excited for it.
For the first time since she found out about her husband’s affair she sleeps peacefully.
A MOMENT OF COMFORT.
♡ — twisted!glisten × twisted!rodger
(reflectivedetective)
⭑.ᐟ genre: slight (very tiny) angst, fluff :33
⭑.ᐟ synopsis: rodger simply comforts an insecure glisten after a devastating view of others leaving him again
⭑.ᐟ wc: 555
⭑.ᐟ a/n: this fanfic was simply my friends' idea so creds to them for the idea and i kinda made this like a few days ago or something
“you’re leaving..? w-wait! don't leave me!” twisted glisten yelled, rushing towards the players in the elevator.
ichor fell down his half shattered face, a look of panic on his face when the elevator slammed shut in his face, leaving him alone. he fell down to his knees, crying quietly and choking on his tears.
he slowly stood up, sniffling a little as he walked towards twisted rodger’s capsule, sitting by it. slowly, rodger emerged from his disguise, towering over him.
“glisten?” he called out to him gently, his voice low yet soothing in his ears. glisten lifted his head up, hesitantly looking into his one eye.
“i'm sorry you have to see me like this again.. i swear, i just.. i can't–”
rodger placed his hand on glisten's head, looking towards the direction of the closed elevator that was just a distance away from them. a disappointed look crossed his face, making him sigh.
“it isn't your fault. those players were the ones who abandoned you anyway, but i most likely won't, despite my form,” he pointed out, looking down at the pool of ichor that went from his waist to the floor.
glisten followed rodger's gaze, gazing at his pitiful state. glisten’s eyes softened in pity and sadness, but he looked away afterwards.
“i'm sorry you had to be like that too.. you.. didn't deserve getting infected like that,” glisten mumbled quietly, avoiding his gaze. rodger's gaze softened at well, watching as he wallowed in his self-pity.
“why are you apologizing? this infection isn't something you did. it's that.. ugh, blasted dandy,” rodger voiced out the name with hatred, clenching his free hand into a fist. his other hand stayed on glisten's head before rodger looked down at him.
“you know i won't leave you, right?” he questioned, giving him reassurance as he ran his fingers through his swirly hair. although glisten had taken the time to style it, it didn't matter if it was rodger who messed it up.
glisten stayed quiet, still feeling insecure and rodger could sense that. he sunk half of his body down in the pool of ichor, making sure he was the other's height. he reached out, placing his hand on glisten's cheek and caressing it.
“don't stay quiet. say something, glisten. i beg to hear your voice at least,” the magnifying glass spoke, his gaze showing a slight look of desperation. it was rare for the detective to show such emotion, but he couldn't help it when it came to glisten.
at his words, the mirror sighed, his breath shaky. immediately, he wrapped his arms around rodger, hugging him tightly. “i don't deserve you..”
rodger's eye widened at his hug, feeling a tad bit off guard. but he didn't pull away, he simply wrapped his arms around glisten, one of his hands cradling the back of his head and the other on the small of his back.
glisten smiled faintly, nuzzling his cheek against rodger's, finding comfort in his embrace. soon, rodger spoke his last words, wanting nothing but to cuddle him.
“you do deserve me. you just.. didn't know it. but i’ll make sure you see how much i value your existence, glisten. to me, you're everything. and.. i’ll never let you go. i won't let anyone hurt you either.”
“my promise. from me, to you.”
John was staring down at you with an expression you couldn’t read. No one had ever looked at you like that before, with such emotion, with such -
Pain...there was so much pain.
The air was taken from your lungs as John flinched. Blood splattered the front of his uniform, tiny horrifying droplets coating his skin. A strange warmth suddenly spread over your chest, a deep rumbling cough caused the pain in your chest to increase. Blood dribbled from your mouth. Your blood.
The ringing in your ears became louder and louder, drowning out the terror-filled shouts from downstairs, and John’s frantic cries.
The last thing you saw was his furious expression. His blue eyes glowing a bright red in rage, hatred, and pure madness.
A sharp cry escaped your lips as you sat upright in bed, awaking in a cold sweat and panting heavily.
Your eyes darted around the room as your hands clutched at your chest, your fingertips grazing the scarred tissue of the bullet wound below your collar bone. As the ringing in your ears began to subside, and the echo of the gunshot stopped bouncing off the walls, you released a long and shaky sigh. You buried your head in your hands, trying to dispell the sick feeling forming in your stomach as you sat there motionless, breathing deeply through the nausea.
Over the last month, this had become a regular occurance. The nighmares of your accident had begun to haunt your dreams, and it was something that you couldn’t seem to escape. You didn’t understand why this was happening now. It had been several quiet months since you had been shot, and it was now that your trauma from that moment had decided to come back and bite you in the ass.
Great. Just what you needed.
The nausea had somewhat eased, enough for you to now lift your head from your hands and turn your gaze towards your bedroom window. A single beam of light flowed through the curtains, creating a bright line along the carpeted floor. You sighed heavily, rubbing your eyes with small yawn. The sound of a gentle knock coming from your apartment door caused an annoyed groan to escape your lips. You were tempted to just lie back down and bury your head under the covers, had it not been for the knock getting louder and harsher.
“Y/n? Are you awake? I made some breakfast and wanted to know if you were interested. Max is already inside and he’s about to eat everything if you don’t hurry up”.
You chuckled lightly as Ben’s voice travelled through your apartment, rolling your eyes as you forced yourself out of your bed. Throwing on an old sweater over your pyjamas, you trudged through the hallway into your living room and over to the door, opening it with a half-sleepy smile. You were met with those soft piercing green hues, peering down at you with a gentle grin. “Good morning...” You spoke roughly, clearing your throat with an awkward huff “was Max out here when you came over to ask me?”
“Oh no, he had been knocking on your door for about ten minutes before I let him in” Ben replied, chuckling loudly as you buried your head in your hands out of embarressment. You peeked up at him through your fingers, giggling softly as you shook your head. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I didn’t hear him at all-”
“Don’t worry about it, honestly...” Ben interrupted, shrugging his shoulders as he leaned against your doorframe “the kid is adorable. I’ve got a soft spot for him.”
“Doesn’t everyone” You replied saracstically, giving him a teasing glare as Ben rolled his eyes. Stepping away from your doorframe, he motioned his head towards his open apartment door across the hall “Get inside”.
You laughed, moving past him with a small smile as you entered his apartment. It was nowhere as neat as yours, but it had its own, slightly messy charm that you didn’t seem to mind. It more disorganised than messy, with a few things out of place, and a random jacket or shirt tossed somewhere obsurely in the room. As you lifted your gaze towards the kitchen, you shook your head with a laugh as you spotted your nephew, mouth full of pancakes with cheeks full like a chipmunk. He grinned up at you through his food, speaking a muffed “Good moring!” as he continued to shovel in more.
“Okay, why don’t you slow down. You’re going to make yourself sick” you scolded, making your way over to your nephew’s side and peering over his shouler to give his temple a quick kiss in greeting. Max swallowed, spinning to face you as you made your way over towards the kettle “Hey! I was standing outside your apartment for hours! I’m starving-”
“It wasn’t hours...” Ben interrupted, walking over and placing his hand atop Max’s head, ruffling his hair “don’t lie to your aunt”. You laughed, rolling your eyes as you disappeared into the kitchen, deciding to prepare some toast for yourself. You decided that something simple was best, since your stomach was still feeling a litte uneasy. You could feel Ben’s presence behind you, his arms wrapping around your waist as he placed his head on your shoulder.
“You had another nightmare again, didn’t you?” he asked quietly, pressing a featherlight kiss to the sensetive spot behind your ear. You shivered and sighed, shaking your head with a small groan. “How did you know?”
“I can hear your heartbeat, it’s beating like crazy. Although that could be because of me-”
“It’s not because of you...” You replied shortly, slyly slipping out of his grasp and turning to face him with an annoyed expression, “You can stop pretending you’re interested in me, I know Butcher had you move in here to protect me.”
“You don’t know that” Ben chuckled, folding his arms across his chest and leaning back against the countertop, “you’re a very attractive wom-”
“You’re also the father of my ex-boyfriend...” You spoke blatantly, choking back laughter at the shocked expression that formed on Ben’s face. His eyes widened, a deer in headlights as his lips parted as he struggled to find a retort. Grinning victoriously, your eyes narrowed into a playful glare as you turned to face the kitchen dooray, looking back at him over your shoulder.
“Watch yourself, Soldier Boy. You lay a hand on me that way, and Butcher will have your head.”
From the corner of your eye, you watched as Ben held his hands up defensively, before his form disappeared from your view as you made your way back over to your nephew. With his eyes wide and beaming, his cheeks stained with syrup and cream, you laughed with a small shake of your head. “Come on you, let’s get you to school...” You sighed, ushering him out of his chair and towards the door, “just give me a minute to go change, and then we’ll get going, okay? Go sit in my living room.”
With a loud enthusiastic ‘goodbye!’, Max raced out of Ben’s apartment and into yours, grabbing his bag on the way. As you walked across the hall and into your apartment, you paused in the doorway and turned back towards’s Ben’s. He was standing in the living room, his eyes meeting yours as he gave you a small but respectful smile. “When did you figure it out?” He asked quietly, his head tilting slightly in confusion as he waited for your reply.
You rolled your eyes with a knowing smile, “Which part? That Butcher put you here, or that you’re my ex-boyfriend’s dad?”
“Both...” He replied awkwardly, “the second part isn’t exactly public knowledge.”
You hummed in thought, before replying honestly. “I had my suspicions, but truthfully...I just asked Hughie.”
“Jesus woman-”
“Aw, you thought I was smart.”
“I know you are, that’s what scares me.”
You stuck out your tongue in reply, stepping into your apartment and closing the door harshly. Now in the privacy of your own home, a huge weight began to settle in your chest. That sick feeling in your stomach began to come back as you moved to rest your forehead against the door. You knew that Butcher meant well, by placing Ben in the apartment across from yours. But it still felt strange, especially knowing what you knew now.
With a long and heavy sigh, you pushed away that aching feeling in your chest and turned around to be met with Max’s questioning expression, his eyes narrowed suspiciously as he examined your form. “Are you alright?” he asked, looking you over completely for any signes of distress. Nodding your head, you shrugged your shoulders.
“I’m alright buddy, I’ll get changed and we’ll go okay” you replied, giving your nephew a small assuring wink before disappearing into your bedroom. Changing into a pair of worn shorts, an old t-shirt and an old black sweater you blieved belonged to an old supe friend, you emerged from your bedroom and grabbed your car keys from the kitchen counter. “You ready bud?”
“Fuck yeah, let’s go!” Max cheered, jumping up from the couch whilst slinging his backpack over his shoulders. Your eyes widened and a shocked gasp escaped your lips. “MAX! No swearing!” You scolded, glaring down at the young boy with your mouth open in disbelief. Your nephew folded his arms over his chest, pouting as he moved to follow you back out into the hall. “Billy let’s me swear-”
“Billy is not a role model!” You shrieked, shoving your nephew through the door and laughing loudly whilst Max giggled evilly.
𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐄. kung lao
𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓(𝒔): Kung Lao, Liu Kang (mentioned), Raiden (mentioned)
𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈(𝒔): Little bit of CHILDBIRTH mentioned, Blood
𝑨/𝑵: This was requested by @eemr1000
𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔: Kung Lao and his kinda bedwritten pregnant wife.
"𝖂hat are you doing, [Name]?" Asked a voice. Your eyes widened before turning your face around to see the Shaolin, who happened to be your husband; Kung Lao. He had his arms crossed, a worried/mad expression on his face.
"Oh, Lao! I didn't knew you would come home right now." She tells him, before her foot accidentally missed a step on her stool, making Lao worried for his wife and catch her in his arms. "I thought I told you to not move around much, it's not safe for the baby." He tells her in a kinda harsh, but worried tone. Kung Lao cared way too much for his wife. "Sorry, just felt hungry." A small pout forms on the woman's lips. Lao sighed at his wife before nuzzling his face into his wife's neck. "How could I be mad at you...?" He said softly, as his wife softly smiles at her husband's words.
[Name] walked to her bed with assistance from her White Lotus husband behind her, he then tells her, "I'll be back with some food. Don't move." Kung Lao kissed her forehead and pets her hair softly filled with affection before heading off to cook. And after he left, the woman decides to look out of her window, looking at the beautiful cherry blossom petals going to the ground or in the pond. And a memory hitted her head on when she and Kung Lao met. "What's your name?" He asked her as [Name] was about to defeat Kung Lao in Mortal Kombat. The female fighter looks at him with a bit of a death glare, and she had a tiny blush on her cheeks. "I-I-It's... [Name] [Last Name]." She tells him, trying to sound tough but was embarrassed either way. The man chuckles and stands up, walking over to the woman just to put his finger on her chin. [Name]'s eyes widened in shock. "W-What are you doing?!" She asked with a bit of anger, before kicking him in his nuts. Kung Lao hunched over in pain as he groaned in pain, holding onto his nuts. "Damn... You're pretty tough...!!" He tells her breathlessly. [Name] darkly stares at her, staring at the man on the ground. As time passes by, he was still trying to flirt with her, but she rejects them all... But at some point, [Name] finally gave in after the battle between Earthrealm and Outworld ended and decided to be with Lao. It took a very long time to accept him into your life, but she had no other choice but to confess her feelings in her way. "[Name]~, are you ok?" Lao asked, waving his hand in front of his wife's face. She blinks and softly chuckles at the flashback she had.
"What's so funny?" Lao asked.
She smiles and replies to him with, "Yeah, just thinking about... How we met." Lao chuckles at his wife's words before putting her food down on the table beside her bed. The White Lotus sits on his wife's bed and has his hand on the side of her hair with a soft smile on his lips, as [Name] gave him the same look in his eyes back. "I love you and our baby so much..." He tells [Name] softly. "I love you too, Lao."
- 𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 -
"You're doing good, [Name]!" Said [Name]'s mother, as she seen her daughter in pain and grips her hand back tightly. Kung Lao was out doing training, but it was interrupted when Lord Raiden informed him that he was finally gonna be a father now. Soon as he heard that, Kung Lao bid Liu Kang and Lord Raiden farewell before running to their home and thinking about [Name] and their new addition. And when he walked in their home, he was met with a very loud and strong cry of a baby. Lao's heart stopped when he heard that sound.... It made him breath raggedly as he felt some tears coming down his cheeks. [Name]'s mother walks up to see who it was and seen his son-in-law on his knees. "He's healthy, Kung Lao." He? Thought Lao as he felt more tears down his cheeks, and was helped up by his mother-in-law who was softly smiling at him. [Name]'s mother opens the slide in door of the huge traditional Chinese home, seeing a tired [Name] holding their crying baby boy in a hanfu gown. She smiled softly at her husband and their mother bids them goodbye, saying she'll come back tomorrow. "Meet your son, Hàoyú." She looks down at her little newborn with a soft smile, seeing him peacefully in her arms sleeping.
Lao walks inside of the room to see the baby up close, seeing that he had the color of his hair, which is black. His eyes were closed, his body was wrapped inside of a yellow blanket. All of a sudden, your husband pulls you close to him and gives her a forehead kiss. "You did such an amazing job while I was gone. I'm really proud of you, [Name]." He said, acting like he never cried, but his heart was still in shock. She smiles, and notices how shocked he is from seeing their newborn. "Wanna hold him?" Kung Lao's eyes were in shock from the question, and he softly gulps.
He nods his head lightly before she places the baby in his arms softly, seeing the little human in his arms. "Hey, Háoyú..." Lao pauses, noticing how Háoyú moves a bit uncomfortable but comfortable at the same time. "I'm your dad." He finishes the part, relieved. The baby softly fusses and whines a bit, so he bounces his son a bit while shushing Háoyú with a calming voice as [Name] smiles softly at her two boys in front of her.
"As long as you have me, Kung Lao and [Name] [Last Name], there is no need to worry. I'll protect both of you..." He tells him, as [Name] chuckles lightly at his words, happy that he is slowly getting attached to his son. So far, Kung Lao liked this part of fatherhood, and he wanted this moment to last.
- 𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐔𝐒 𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐄 -
"Is that a... Baby?" Asked Liu, seeing his best friend and also partner wearing a baby carrier that had his cute son inside of it, while [Name] stood behind him, smiling and bowing at Liu softly. "Yes, Liu Kang." He said proudly, as Háoyú's hands were up for a couple seconds, cooing cutely. Lord Raiden came out and seen what was going on. It was Kung Lao... With a baby carrier and he also noticed [Name] as well. "Greetings, Lord Raiden. This is our son, Háoyú [Last Name]." [Name] bows as she had her fist in a bowing manner. As Raiden and [Name] talked, he couldn't help but continue to stare at the baby. He looked VERY adorable.
Laughing, Jun washes the soap from his hands and dries them before lifting his arms and turning in his embrace to face you. With a smirk on his face, he goes as far as to bite on his bottom lip and shrug his shoulders.
He was your ground in this chaotic world and right now this was all that mattered. Shaking your head you take a step back towards the living room causing him to laugh as you sway your hips to the music playing low on the record player. It was different from before. This was music for slow dancing, music for lovers.
“Are you trying to tell me something?”
Jun smiles brightly when a smile spreads across your pretty face. It didn’t matter how tired he was. Your smile was like a shot of vitamin c injected right into his veins.
“Maybe. I got good vibes about things lately. I’m thinking you should take me to bed,..”
His smile only falters for a moment as Jun licks his lips, his brows furrowing at your words. You made it hard for him to keep his cool around you. It didn’t matter if you two had been married for two years or twenty…Jun felt it in his soul you were going to keep him on his toes.
“You sayin’...”
It’s when you nod, your footstep still walking the two of you backwards closer to the bedroom that Jun’s breath hitches in his throat. The two of you had talked about starting a family a hundred times but the financial situation was never right. It still wasn’t in Jun’s mind… but you saying what you had, Jun couldn’t think about anything else.
A gasping laugh finds your lips when Jun moves quickly picking you up in his arms. Your hands on his shoulders, you kick your legs only to stop when you feel his lips press against the rising fabric of your shirt. A short huff of breath escapes him and you find yourself suddenly furrowing your brows. Your fingers running through his hair as he takes the last few steps through the door to your shared bedroom to lay you on the bed.
Your fingers still threading through your husband’s soft locks, you find your eyes closing to the feeling of his lips finding purchase on your skin as his fingers gently work the button of your jeans loose in the dimly lit room. The only sounds are that of your soft moans, panting breaths, and his strategic kisses that seem to mesh with the music from the living room.
Lifting your hips to the feeling of Jun’s fingers pushing against your hips, you smile finally looking down at him in the low light to find his eyes on you. He had a way about making you feel shy by doing something so simple. Just his eyes on your face as he worked your jeans over your thighs, his breath fanning over your abdomen was enough to cause your cheeks to feel like you were standing too close to an open flame.
“Jun…”
Now he was smiling at your tiny whimper of his name. God, you were like a dream. How had he landed you, Jun would never understand, but he counted his blessings each and every day and especially any chance he had the privilege to between your thighs.
“What is it, little bird? You sound so pretty tonight.”
Ch 1
The next day, Saturday, you were in your bedroom getting ready to paint your nails while the other guys were either out and about or in the apartments just doing their own thing.
“Y/n?! Can I borrow some of your coffee grounds?” Shouted Seungmin from the other side of the apartment. You laughed before you shouted back.
“Check the bag behind mine!” There was silence and shuffling until you heard “YOU’RE THE BEST!” You giggled to yourself. You got the younger one his own bag of ground coffee because he always borrowed yours. You didn’t mind sharing your coffee but Seungmin loved it so much you decided he needed his own; it was only fair since you used his coffee machine.
“Would you like me to make you a cup?” Seungmin yelled from the kitchen.
“Yes, please! Can you add vanilla too?” You ask.
“French or Bean?” He shouts back.
“Bean!!” You answer before going back to your task. You were going through your colors when your phone started ringing. It was Carter’s sister, Peyton. You put down your nail polish and answered the phone.
“Hey, what's up?” you ask putting the phone in between your ear and shoulder so you could proceed to paint your nails.
“Umm…w-what are you doing right now?” Peyton asked. You froze with the brush hovering above your nail bed. She was crying.
“I’m just about to paint my nails, why?” you ask, screwing the nail polish wand back into the tiny glass container. You grabbed the phone and held it firmly pressed to your ear. You heard your friend trying to control her breathing.
“Peyton? What’s going on?” You ask urgently.
“Carter was in a car accident early this morning…her car went off the road and hit a tree,” she choked out. Your heart stopped. There was no way.
“Is she okay?” you asked with every hope in the world that she was okay. There was silence.
No.
Please god no.
There was a ringing in your ear that wouldn’t allow you to process what your friend was saying over the phone. While staring straight ahead you saw the picture frame that held a photo of you and Carter smiling together at the lake. You shook your head.
“I’m so sorry…” Peyton cried out.
No.
You slowly set your phone on the floor as you stared at the picture. You could hear the faint voice of Peyton on the other line calling your name. You shook your head as you scooted backward until your back hit the bed frame. You press the heel of your hands to your eyes.
“No No No..no this isn’t…this isn’t real,” you grit out between your teeth. After you moved to Seoul, you were only able to meet your best friend, Carter, once a year for a couple of days before returning to school. Little did you know that the last time you spent time with Carter would be the final time. You remained seated, hugging your legs, and rocking back and forth. Suddenly, you heard two pairs of footsteps coming to a sudden stop outside your door, before entering your room and starting to speak.
“Y/n? What’s wrong?” Chris asked calmly but slightly frantic. He scanned you making sure you weren’t physically hurt. You open your eyes and look up. Standing in front of you were Chris and Seungmin. How does one relay this type of information without completely shattering?
“Whatever it is, it’s going to be okay, yeah?” Chris whispered, squatting to your level. You shook your head again. It wasn’t okay.
“Carter-” you whispered.
“Carter’s dead,” you finally say. They audibly gasped, Seungmin immediately squatting down to your level by Chris.
“Oh my god…” Seungmin breathed out. Chris crawled up next to you and gathered you in his arms.
“Oh, my goodness y/n…I’m so sorry,” he said, arms circling your frame. You barely registered the movements until you were breathing in his scent. Seungmin had a hand on your back, rubbing it in soothing motions. He turned around when he heard your friend calling your name over the phone. He picked it up and held it to his ear.
“Hi…yeah Y/n is still here, Chris has her right now,” Seungmin said gently in English. Peyton asked you to call her back when you could. She hung up and Seungmin put the phone down. When Seungmin turned back to Chris, he was still holding you in his arms.
“Peyton asked if you could call her back when you get the chance,” he said gently as he rubbed your knee. You nodded as your eyes shook. Their comfort was the one thing keeping you grounded and preventing you from going catatonic. After maybe 5 minutes, you lifted your head from Chris’s shoulder.
“I think, I think I’m going to call Peyton back, check in on her” you whisper. Seungmin rubbed a thumb over your hand.
“Would you like us to stay?” He asked. Your friends were just so kind. You shook your head, giving them a tight-lined reassuring smile.
“I think I’ll be okay, thank you though.”
Chris squeezed you once more before hesitantly moving to stand up.
“If you need absolutely anything at all, come get us okay?” He said with so much sincerity in his tone. You made eye contact with them and wordlessly nodded before the two walked out and closed the door. They made their way into the living room and found Minho and Han. The duo smiled at them until they saw the sad looks Chris and Seungmin had painted on their faces.
“You guys okay?” Minho asked. Chris let out a small sigh and guided the boys further into the living room. They all sat down on the couch and the two listened intently.
“Y/n’s best friend Carter passed away,” Chris said looking at his hands. Minho and Han’s breaths hitched.
“Oh my gosh…” Han whispered. Minho put a hand on Han’s knee.
“How?” Minho asked. Seungmin shook his head.
“We don’t know…we didn’t ask,” said Seungmin. They realized it had to have been a freak accident or something; Carter was young.
“Should we tell the others?” Minho asked.
“Eventually yeah, just so they know what’s going on,” Chris said quietly. After 30 minutes, Changbin, Hyunjin, Felix, and Jeongin finally got home from their classes. Chris quietly called them into the living room. They all quickly took off their shoes and sat down nervously.
“No one’s in trouble, I just have some news,” Chris said sadly. Everyone’s hearts started racing, even the ones who already knew.
“We don’t know how…but Y/n’s best friend Carter died,” Chris said sadly. Everyone’s eyes went huge.
“Oh no…” Changbin said quietly, shaking his head. He couldn’t even imagine the look on your face when you found out.
“How is she?” Jeongin asked quietly. Chris gave Jeongin a sad smile and patted his leg.
“I think she’s in shock,” he whispered, remembering how he and Seungmin found you. They all sat in silence, not knowing what to say until Seungmin spoke up. “She’s on the phone with Carter’s sister,” he said quietly. They all nodded, and all that could be heard were the cars outside. Back in your room, you picked up your phone and went to your recent phone calls. You clicked on Peyton’s contact and hit the soeaker button.
“Hey,” she croaked out. She’s been crying for a while.
“Hey,” you whispered.
“How are you doing?” Peyton asked. You shook your head.
“I don’t know….”
There was silence for a while until Peyton spoke up.
“Do you think you would be able to fly down here next month?” she asked. You shrugged while rubbing your temple. You only flew down for the holidays and usually, you had enough saved for those flights only. Tickets weren’t cheap.
“Yeah I think I can make it,” you say before Peyton lets out a sigh.
“Okay…I can pick you up from the airport if you’d like,” she offered.
“Sure, yeah that works.”
This was not happening.
“Okay, I’ll keep you posted,” Peyton said thickly as she hung up. You let your arm fall to the side as you stared at the ceiling. You inhaled deeply and let out a long sigh. You decided to get out of bed and get that coffee that was probably lukewarm by now. The guys all whipped their heads around when they heard your door click. You slowly walked out of your room into the hallway, stopping in the entryway when you saw 8 pairs of eyes looking at you with so much concern. The sight of you was just so sad. You were wearing one of Hyunjin’s sweatpants and Chris’s black hoodie, which wasn’t new, but you looked so small and so lost, something they weren’t used to seeing. Your face had lost all of its color, like you had just seen a ghost. You suddenly felt so vulnerable, scratching your neck.
“I uh *clears throat* thanks for the coffee, Seungmin,” you say, giving him a shaky smile.
“No problem…” he says just as quietly. Everyone was still unsure how to approach this situation. Do they mention Carter? Do they act like nothing is wrong? Your hands were shaky, still in a state of shock from the phone call you got not even an hour ago. Minho and Changbin both stood up quickly when they watched you almost drop your mug. At this stage, the boys were nervous you were either going to drop the mug on your foot, spill the hot liquid on your skin, or all of the above. That fear came true when you took a shaky sip of your coffee, the hot liquid spilling out from the sides and hitting your wrists. You made a pained noise as you put the mug down. Minho swiftly walked into the kitchen calmly placed hands on your shoulders and led you to the sink, immediately turning on the cold water.
Everyone knew you were headstrong, so they weren’t used to seeing you like this. Within your friend group, you were the third oldest, and in times when they needed someone to lean on, it came naturally to you to care for them. Only on a couple of occasions have they seen you upset, like during a sad drama or when you’d laugh so hard tears would spring to your eyes, or when COVID happened and so much was happening, but even then you remained strong for them, and right now you looked like you were on the brink of an anxiety attack.
“Come here,” Minho whispered after turning off the faucet. He walked you into the living room where everyone else was and pulled you into a hug. Your arms hung by your side and your breathing became uneven, but you refused to cry, cause once you cried then it was real.
“You don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to love, but what happened?” Minho asked carefully.
“Um…car accident?” you said almost as a question but more in disbelief. You heard someone make a pained noise while you stared at the wall.
“I don’t know how…maybe an animal ran out or maybe she was on her phone, I don’t know….but her car ran off the road…and she hit a tree.” No one knew what to say.
“Y/n…were so sorry,” Hyunjin said sadly. As much as you wanted to stay in someone’s embrace, you needed a distraction, something to take your mind off of things. You lifted your head and took a deep breath.
“I’m gonna try to get ahead on my reading, so I can get further in my research paper,” you said as you slowly pulled away from Minho, putting on your best attempt of a smile. Everyone nodded, not sure if they wanted you to be by yourself, but they respected your wishes and watched you retreat to your room. You flipped back and forth between reading and writing for a few more hours until your eyes hurt from staring at the screen for so long. You didn’t know how you were going to sleep. You tossed and turned in your bed for an hour, the phone call on replay in your mind. Well shit if you can’t sleep might as well study even more, right? You pulled out your laptop, the bright screen irritating your eyes even further as you started typing when all of a sudden there was a knock at your door.
‘Great, I woke one of the kids up’ you thought to yourself. You went to open the door and there stood the literal sun.
“Hey y/n,” he said sweetly. You gave him a small smile.
“Hey Lixie, what’s up?” you asked.
"Can't sleep...can I stay with you tonight?" he asked playing with his sleeve. You grinned and pulled him into the room. You got under the blankets, Felix following close behind. You saved your work and put your laptop on your nightstand. You pulled the sweet boy into your arms and closed your eyes.
“Y/n?” He asked quietly. You hummed in response.
“Everything’s going to be okay,” he whispered. You ran your fingers through his hair.
“Thanks, Lixie.” He smiled and snuggled even deeper into your side. Felix dozed off in your hold, but you were wide awake.
At around 7 am, Felix woke up. He sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He stared into your eyes, and by the looks of it, you hadn’t slept a wink.
“Did you sleep at all?” He asked. You shook your head.
“My brain wouldn’t let me,” you slightly chuckle. Felix pouted.
“I’m sorry,” he said in his low voice. You gave him a small smile.
“Thanks for the cuddles Lixie,” you thank Felix as you pat his hand. He smiled and gave you a side hug.
“Anytime,” he said as he squeezed you.
“Do you want to come to breakfast?” He asked. He figured you probably didn’t have the biggest appetite but he still wanted to ask. You shook your head.
“I’m not hungry, but maybe I’ll come out at some point, I’m gonna keep working on this,” you say, rubbing your eyes and pointing towards your laptop. Felix and patted your shoulder before getting out of bed and leaving your room. In the kitchen, Changbin and Seungmin were cooking. They both turned around when they heard footsteps.
“Morning Lix,” Changbin smiled. Felix gave Changbin the best smile he could, but the older one knew what was going through his head.
“How is she?” he asked quietly. Felix shrugged.
“She didn’t sleep at all, which I get…I just feel so bad for her,” Felix sighed. They both nodded.
“I don’t know if she’s still in shock or trying to numb herself but…I mean I know it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet so maybe she is just in shock but *sigh* I don’t know, it’s just hard seeing her that way,” Felix added. Seungmin shook his head.
“I’m sure she was very grateful you stayed with her last night, honey,” Changbin whispered as Felix hid his face further into the older’s neck, Seungmin walking up behind him and scratching his back. If Changbin felt wetness on his skin, he wouldn’t say a word.
Hired Gun
Bodyguard Loki x y/n Stark reader
18+ | tiny angst, smut
Part 8 Part 9
Loki slept well. He couldn’t quite explain it but there was just something about sleeping with his chest against your back and his arms wrapped against you that just relaxed him. He tried to savour it, the warmth of your body against his, the scent of your hair, the sound of you breathing as you slept incase this was the last time, incase you woke up and decided even being at his place was a mistake, he wouldn’t have blamed you, but he couldn’t help his eyelids feeling heavier, his breathing deepening as he held you closer. He gave into sleep, allowed dreams of you to consume him.
When he awoke, he blinked slowly, opening his eyes before he was met by you who was now facing him, seemingly staring at him.
“What?” He smiled, the sun shining across your face as he looked at you.
“You know you look a lot more peaceful when you’re sleeping” you began with a small chuckle “your eyebrows are less scrunched up” you continued, running your thumbs over them as he scrunched them up “see, you’re already doing it.”
Relaxing his face, Loki laughed with you, reveling in the sound of your joint laughter, the way your eyes crinkled at the corners, the way you looked up at him so purely, so forgivingly, so lovingly. His thoughts running away with him, Loki leant down, kissing you gently, his hand finding the side of your cheek as your laugh died on his lips before he realised what he was doing. Almost instantly, he pulled away, his cheeks reddening.
“Sorry.” He apologised, the memories of your dejected expression when referred to you as his job paired with the expression you had yesterday when you finally emerged from your room making him feel even worse. He studied your face, trying to read your expression now as your eyes widened slightly. He was expecting you to slap him, to jump out of his bed and demand he take you home, to shout at him, anything other than the slight quiver of your lip as you spoke.
“Is it me?” You murmured.
“W-what?” Loki questioned, confused by your words.
“Is it me?” You repeated, sniffling “am I just unlovable or something—re-repulsive? Am I—” You began to cry before Loki pressed his lips to yours again, silencing your ramble. A small gasp escaped you as he pulled back, looking at you before kissing you again, deeper this time as you kissed him back.
“Don’t say that” he spoke between kisses “don’t you dare say that.” He added, deepening the kiss as his tongue pushed past yours, his hand cupping your cheek. His lips found your neck as he pushed you against the bed, making his way above you. His hands moved across your body, the soft skin of your legs leaving him thankful he gave you one of his shirts to wear last night. Your legs wrapped around his waist as he continued peppering kisses across your neck, his fingers lifting the hem of your shirt before his lips moved across your chest and down your stomach. You tried to bite down your euphoria at the feeling of him kissing the ticklish part of your hipbone, the sensation of his lips dancing across the hem of your panties causing arousal to pool at your centre as you widened your legs, bending them at the knee. It was almost instinctual to be like this with Loki, to let him explore your body as you waited eagerly for his touch. You felt him tugging down your panties, prompting you to raise your hips as he pulled them down further before they were discarded on the floor. You laid bare for him, like you had so many times before and yet right now, you felt vulnerable. As if sensing your worry, you felt Loki kiss your thigh before looking up at you.
“You are so beautiful” he said almost indignantly as if your self loathing was an insult to him “I need you to know that” he stressed, kissing your thigh again “it’s not you” he clarified, his mouth venturing higher “you’re not unlovable” he spoke in a hushed tone, leaving you gasping as you felt his soft lips kissing your clit “you are love” he opined, kissing you there again, longer this time.
“Lokii—” you mewled.
“Shh” he hushed “you’re perfect.” He finished, lips wrapping around the bundle of nerves before he feasted on you like a man starved. You thrashed against his bed, his head between your thighs as he licked up from your entrance to your clit and back down again. He flattened his tongue against your pussy, licking through your folds as you ground your hips against his face. His words kept repeating in your head, they made you feel worthy. You came with a shrill call of his name, all of the tension from your body releasing as you relaxed.
Loki kissed his way back to your lips, the taste of you against them as you kissed him back passionately. You could feel his erection, it was nudging against you. You reached between you both, hand venturing beneath his bottoms before he stopped you.
“We don’t have to.”
“I want to.” You insisted, freeing his cock before it rested against your slick centre.
“Loki—” you began, holding one of his cheeks in your hand as you looked up at him “you don’t need to say it back and I won’t be mad but I’ve—I’ve got to say it—I need to tell you” you exhaled, speaking quickly “I love you.” You finished, your breathing erratic at your admittance before Loki thrusted inside of you, both of you moaning as he bottomed out. He waited a few moments for you to adjust to his size before he was pulling out of you and delving inside again. You felt him everywhere, the entirety of him evading you as he pushed his forehead against yours.
“I love you too” he spoke “I love you y/n.”
The sex was slow, passionate, loving as he fucked you leisurely, barely pulling out of you after each thrust. He burrowed his head in the crook of your neck as he grew closer to his climax before he stilled, hips stuttering as he came. He didn’t pull out, he kissed you again until it was messy, until he needed to sate himself in your heat again which he did until you joined him in bliss.
You were both tired again, drifting in and out of sleep as you clung to eachother, whispering those three words. As the day drew on, you eventually broke apart, surprisingly showering separately before you changed back into your clothes, Loki dropping you home. You got out first, ensuring the coast was clear before you told Loki to come to your room, regretting it when you opened the door to be met by the depression pit you had left yesterday. Just as you stepped back out, closing the door, you felt Loki behind you, pausing your movements with his hand on the door.
“We can clean it, together.” He smiled. “I love you y/n baby.” He added, making you grin at the crigniness of it.
“I love you too, Loki baby.” You answered before hearing the sound of the floor creaking. Eyes rounding, you followed the sound before your eyes met those of the culprit. “Shhhh.” You signalled to Morgan who then done a zipping motion across her lips before turning and walking away causing you to laugh as you dragged Loki into your room.
Omg omg so...
I am IN LOVE with Martyrs and Kings by the amazing @dystopicjumpsuit, it is such a perfect fic, Maree is a beautiful and wonderful OC and the entire thing is just perfection! (link here, if you haven't read it, please, please do, your life will be better for it).
And I recently had an idea for a one shot spin off (following on from the most recent addition, the Halloween special of Martyrs and Kings AND ZOMBIES which is also amazing and should be read!) and approached the amazing author to ask if I could write it, and the below is the result!
It ended up a lot longer than I thought it would, but I hope you all enjoy it, and thank you again to the amazing @dystopicjumpsuit for allowing me this opportunity!
Without further ado, I present:
Marching On
Post Stasis!Kix x Maree (OC)
Rating: Mature (mentions of death, grief, memory loss/dementia, major character death, swearing, minor threat)
Warnings: this is ANGST IN PURE FORM. I cried writing this. You may cry reading this. I apologise.
Summary: Kix gets the chance for closure at long last, though it may come from an unexpected source.
A soft humming stirred Kix from his sleep, an annoyed groan leaving his lips as the soft light of Maree’s lamp flooded his vision, his eyes fluttering against it. Burying his head under the covers, he frowned at the gentle laugh she let out, one of her hands coming to rest on his head over the covers, fingers drumming softly.
“Good morning to you too,” she chuckled softly, Kix responding with another annoyed grunt.
“W’s the time?” he murmured thickly, daring to peek over the duvet, wincing again at the light.
“Early,” Maree sighed, her other hand occupied with a datapad, bottom lip worried between her teeth as she scrolled through one of the documents. “Go back to sleep if you want, love.”
Kix sighed deeply, resigning himself to being awake as he shuffled up against the metal headboard of their bed, blinking the remaining sleep from his eyes. Tucking the covers under his arms, he let out another sigh, shuffling closer to Maree and slinging an arm over her waist, just above the barely there swell of her stomach.
Still feeling nauseous?” he asked softly, fingers moving to trace the beginnings of her bump through her nightdress, the sensation drawing a fond smile to her lips.
“Not too bad,” she admitted, “got woken up by a comm and kind of got caught up in some research.”
“Hmm?” Kix hummed curiously, “What kind?”
Maree let out another sigh, one that morphed into a yawn, her body pressed against Kix’s warmth as he pulled her closer, peering at the datapad.
“Could be something, could be nothing,” she murmured, the hesitation in her voice giving Kix pause, “but it’s interesting nonetheless.”
Grunting, Kix sat up a little more, opening his arms and drawing Maree onto his chest, relishing in her smile as she accepted the offer gratefully, pressing a kiss to his exposed sternum as she shifted, practically curling up in his lap.
“Let’s hear what’s got my love all caught up at…” he glanced at the time, “kriffing hells, cyare, what happened to our lay in?”
“Sorry, love,” Maree giggled, pressing another kiss to his chin in apology before scrolling back to the start of the report, images and text flashing by. “You remember when we were at the archives on Coruscant and you mentioned Clone Force 99, and the child they took with them when they defected?”
Kix stiffened a tiny bit before drawing in a deep breath, nodding as he processed her words.
Waiting until she was sure he was okay for her to continue, Maree dragged another soft kiss over the stubble on his chin, silently reassuring him until he nodded gently, ready for what came next.
“Well I really was fascinated by it, the whole squad, in fact. And the child… Well it seems that she may have been an unaltered clone, similar to Boba Fett. And yet, the records of her are sparse at best. She may have been held at a secure Imperial compound for some time, Mount Tantiss, but the only records that exist on that are ones relating to a clean up operation after an attack by the Rebellion.”
Kix’s interest piqued as he saw the reports listing a few CT numbers he recognised, hovering his hand over the pad, asking silent permission. Maree handed it over without hesitation, watching cautiously as he scrolled slowly, his breath hitching.
“Rex was there,” he mumbled, his throat constricting a little, “and Gregor… kriff, I think I only met him once at 79’s. He was a Commando. Echo… that’s no surprise, he was loyal to Rex, wherever he went, Echo would have followed…”
He continued reading, frowning at the redacted details.
“It says the rebellion stole some ‘assets’. What could that mean?”
Maree sighed deeply, sitting up a little more, one of her hands moving to thread through Kix’s hair as he continued to read.
“Clones, probably,” she murmured, the sadness in her tone not lost on Kix. “After the rise of the Empire, the clone army was slowly decommissioned. A lot of them went AWOL, others were taken to train TK troopers, their replacements, but most just… disappeared. It was like they just vanished. A handful were officially retired, but the records end after that.”
“Kriffing hells…”
Kix’s face was contorted with anger, Maree tugging his hair a little, keeping him in the moment.
Over the months they’d spent together, she’d come to know his tells, the way he moved and reacted when things got overwhelming for him.
The motion kept him grounded, his lips parting to draw in a sharp breath, hands trembling as he handed back the datapad.
“You okay?” she questioned gently, Kix nodding a little too fast. It was easy to forget that what was history for her could so easily have been Kix’s life.
“I… I will be,” he breathed, giving her waist a small squeeze. “Knowing Rex was there, actively fighting… I guess part of me wishes I had been too.”
Maree’s chest constricted, Kix leaning down to give her a reassuring kiss.
“Though I can’t say I’m sad to have been bought here, to you.”
The reminder was pointed, Maree smiling as she met his lips, more grateful than ever of his thoughtfulness.
“I love you,” she smiled softly, Kix returning the gesture, dark brown eyes sparkling with adoration when he met her gaze.
“And I love you. Forever.”
Maree giggled softly, pressing another kiss to Kix’s head as she drew the datapad out of his hands, scrolling down a little more.
“So, as well as all this, I had Brosna take on a little research project, and he got a hit on an outer rim planet. It seems that the child Clone Force 99 took with them when they defected, might still be alive. And if she truly is an unaltered clone…”
Kix took a moment to process, his heart skipping a beat.
“She’d biologically be my sister.”
The realisation sent him reeling. Since the moment he’d come round from his stasis sickness, he’d resigned himself to being alone. His brothers were all long dead, every connection broken and shattered by the Empire’s time in power.
And yet now… Now he had Maree, a child of his own on his way, and a genetic sister.
“I want to meet her,” he decided aloud, eyes stinging with unshed tears as he met Maree’s gaze, his hand absent-mindedly running over her stomach. “I want… I want to meet her. If she was with Clone Force 99, with Rex? She might know more about what happened. She would have known Echo. I… I might be able to get some answers.”
Maree hesitated for a moment, caught between the comfort of Kix’s hand on her stomach, gently rubbing over the swollen flesh, and the distress in his voice. She remembered all too keenly what had happened after the revelation around Jesse’s fate back on Coruscant, barely suppressing a shiver at the memory of him leaving in the middle of the night.
Dropping her datapad to the bed, she laced her hands with his, taking a deep breath before leaning in, brushing her lips over his, nodding slowly.
“Kix…. Love… I… I just don’t want you getting too invested in this. We don’t know what she’ll be like, or how old she is. There might not be… well… she might be older than we think. She might not remember…”
She sighed, squeezing his fingers, unable to meet his intense gaze even as she felt it boring into her.
“I don’t want you to get hurt. I couldn’t… It’s selfish, but I… I don’t think I could cope with you leaving again. Not now. Not when…”
She didn’t even realise tears were leaking from her eyes until one ran down her chin, dripping heavily onto the back of her hand where it laid, interlaced with Kix’s over her stomach.
Wiping her face furiously, she felt shame and sadness run over her, shaking her head.
“Maker, I’m sorry,” she sniffed, blinking away more tears, “it’s these damn hormones, and…”
“Maree…”
The call of her name finally brought her gaze back to meet Kix’s, his eyes searching hers as he turned her towards him, sinking down until he was face to face with her once more, his free hand moving to cup her face. As his thumb ran over her cheek, swiping away the trail of tears, she forced a weak smile, one he returned.
“I am not leaving you ever again,” he reassured her firmly, taking a shuddering breath as he leaned forward, pressing their foreheads together. It was an intimate action she had become used to, a sign of affection used by clone troopers and Mandalorians, lost to time until now, and every time it happened, she felt a pleasant shiver run through her. “Especially not now,” he finally continued, closing his eyes.
His own tears were falling now, his throat bobbing as he swallowed hard.
“I would never risk this, us, for anything. I just… I need to know. I want to… to say goodbye. As ridiculous as it may sound.”
“It’s not ridiculous at all,” Maree reassured him thickly, tilting her head to brush their lips together once again, “and I will not pretend I even begin to understand what you’ve been through. But if this will help you… If this is what you want? We’ll go. I’ll get the coordinates, and we’ll go.”
“Thank you.”
It was little more than a whisper, but those two words held so much pain, so much hope, so much longing, that it caused Maree’s heart to constrict again.
“There’s still a few more hours until the day-cycle starts,” she breathed, kissing him lightly once again, tossing her datapad onto the floor beside the bed as she snuggled back into Kix’s hold, relishing his scent. “Let’s get some more sleep.”
“Now there’s a plan,” Kix smiled softly, dropping a kiss to the top of her head, his hand still laced with hers over her stomach as they drew the duvet back over themselves, cocooning their bodies off from the world once again. “I love you.”
“Love you,” Maree yawned, giggling as Kix kissed her nose, contentment and warmth surrounding her as they drifted back to sleep, a thousand possibilities of what their next step would bring dancing through their minds.
*-*-*
Pabu was beautiful, Maree decided very quickly upon disembarking the Stinger.
After very little persuading (and only a little arguing), Kix and Maree had embarked on their fact finding mission with Reveth, Quiggold and Ithano in tow, insistent they tag along in case of any ‘unwanted attention’, and definitely not for the fact that one of the main attractions of the island was the perfect weather cycles.
That had definitely not piqued the crew’s interest. And Reveth had definitely not bought her bathing suit.
Fortunately, the moment they exited the ship, the demeanour of everyone changed for the better, Kix grinning as he looked around at his shipmates.
Quiggold had shed his omnipresent cloak the moment the sun had hit his skin, the humidity from the ocean surrounding the picturesque town soaking into him, his energy higher than any of them could ever remember it being.
“What a delightful place!” he remarked happily, inhaling the salty scent of the sea as he stood clad in his shirt and shorts, feet twisting onto the ground as if feeling the rhythm of the waves. “I must visit the beach! It’s been far too long since I’ve indulged in a salt scrub.”
“Don’t go traumatising anyone, will ya?” Reveth chuckled, though the awe in her eyes as she looked up at the massive tower behind where their shuttle had landed was undeniable. “What do ya think is in there?” she breathed, almost to herself. “Something valuable, I’d bet!”
“Try not to tick off the locals before we’ve even left the landing pad, Rev,” Kix pleaded teasingly, the twi’lek rolling her eyes and mock saluting.
“Like I would,” she huffed, “I’m a charmer, me.”
Ithano let out a soft huff of laughter, Kix staring for a moment before shaking his head again, looking back to Maree, his breath catching in his throat as he went to speak.
The sunlight filtering through the massive tree above them danced over her, illuminating her hair and features, the effect almost angelic. Wide eyed, she glanced around the square, her simple white blouse and loose khaki cargo pants perfect for the weather, which she seemed to be positively basking in. As she closed her eyes and took a deep breath of fresh air, Kix swore he fell in love all over again, the gentle slide of her hand over her bump, a seemingly unconscious action making his heart stutter in his chest.
“Hello? Kix? Are you even listening to me?”
Blinking as Reveth stepped in front of him, waving her skeletal metal arm in his face, Kix shook his head, crashing back to reality as the twi’lek eyed him suspiciously.
“What?” he finally answered obliviously, Reveth rolling her eyes at him.
“I said ‘what’s the plan’? You have any idea where this sister of yours is?”
Kix blinked a couple more times before shaking his head, their mission slinking back into his mind with startling clarity.
“Uh, no,” he admitted a little sheepishly, grateful when Maree moved to join the conversation, Ithano caught between listening and eyeing one of the local taverns that sat just off of the square. “We, uh… all we got was a location.”
“We could always ask around?” Maree suggested brightly. “I’m sure there must be someone around who remembers a group of clones and a child arriving here, even if it was fifty years ago. Tales like that don’t just fade out.”
“Did you say ‘clones’?”
A small voice caught them unaware, the group splitting to get a look at their little eavesdropper, a small, dark skinned child with thick, black curly hair pulled up by a golden accessory and wide, chestnut eyes gazing up at them in amazement.
Kix looked to Maree for a moment, lost at how to respond, watching as she bent down on one knee, bringing herself to the little girl’s eye level, smiling kindly.
“We did!” she grinned good naturedly. “We’re looking for information about some clones that would have come here a long time ago, probably when your mother was just a little girl.”
Reveth folded her arms as she regarded the child, unsure.
“You sure this isn’t some kind of trick?” she hissed to Ithano, who simply shrugged, sharing a look with Kix.
“Who would be trying to trap us here? This place is remote as remote gets.”
The twi’lek huffed, frowning at the small girl.
“I still don’t like it.”
“There haven’t been clones here in aaaaages,” she grinned dramatically, “but my gramma Phee might know!” the girl exclaimed excitedly, bouncing on the heels of her cork sandals, twisting the hem of her white and blue embroidered dress as she looked up at them wide eyed, “I can show you her house! She used to fly in a ship, and she knew a lot of people.”
“Sounds like as good a place as any to start,” Maree mused, wincing as she stood from crouching, Kix immediately by her side, worry written over his features. “Just stiff,” she reassured him, looking back down to the little girl, who was now beaming. “I’m Maree, this is Kix, Reveth and Ithano,” she introduced them quickly. “What’s your name?”
“Ad’ika,” the girl smiled back, Maree shooting Kix an odd look when his grip on her hand tightened, his smile fading quickly. “Follow me!”
With a skip in her step, she darted down the stone brick street, the slope steady and well worn.
Reveth huffed as she and Ithano quickly made to follow the child, Maree smiling in reassurance to the twi’lek as she nodded to Kix with a questioning look, silently reassuring her he was okay.
“Kix?” she prompted softly, “What’s wrong?”
“That’s not her name,” he murmured lowly, eyes narrowing for a moment before he marched off after his crew mates, practically dragging Maree along with him, confusion consuming her thoughts.
“What? What do you mean?” she asked, gasping as she almost tripped on one of the steps, Kix slowing his pace just a little.
“Ad’ika. It’s mando’a. Clone language. It means ‘little one’ or ‘child’. That’s not a name.”
“So Reveth might be right?” Maree gasped, eyes widening in fear, “This could be a trap?”
“A trap for who though?” Kix thought aloud, looking at the corner Ithano and Reveth had rounded hesitantly, drawing to stop and turning to Maree, pressing a hand to her shoulder.
“I don’t like this at all,” he admitted quickly, eyes darting around, keeping a keen eye on their surroundings. “You should head back to the ship. I’ll find the others and round them up. Lock the ship until we get back. Even if I do have a sister, putting you at risk isn’t worth it.”
“So… It’s true then…”
Another, unfamiliar voice caught them unaware, Maree practically yelping as Kix shoved her behind him, shielding her with his body as a figure emerged from the end of the street, the shuffling of feet preceding their arrival.
Despite all of his misgivings, Kix let his guard down a little as an older woman, easily in her late sixties or early seventies, emerged, dressed in an intricately patterned blue and green tunic and shorts, a necklace of seashells adorning her neck.
Her hair was tightly curled and grey, pulled back into a loose ponytail, her face round and welcoming, but her eyes were shrewd and sharp, searching Kix’s face with an intensity unexpected of her age.
“Maker… I haven’t seen that face for years,” she sighed, stepping further into the light, taking in Kix’s features, and the way his hand hovered over his blaster. “No need for all that,” she chuckled, nodding to his blaster, “just can’t be too sure in these parts. Plenty of folk come looking for the Clone memorial looking to make a quick buck on relics they left behind. That, and we keep an eye on pirates round these parts.”
Kix’s eyes widened, mind whirring as he put the pieces together.
“Where are you taking them?” he snapped, hand resting on the holster of his blaster, “If you hurt them…”
The woman laughed loudly, the sound echoed by some small, green furred creatures in the trees above her, their mimicry turning into happy chittering in short order.
“You’re very jumpy, aren’t you? Your friends are at Phee’s, where she’ll feed them, water them and tell them a thousand stories from her time as a pirate,” she grinned, Maree leaning around Kix to get a better look at the woman.
“There’s a clone memorial here?” she asked, Kix moving his hand away a little, allowing her to step next to him.
The woman nodded, eyeing her up and down for a moment. She made no attempt to disguise the way her gaze lingered on Maree’s stomach, or the way Kix’s hand rested protectively over it.
“Come with me,” she smiled, “there’s someone you should meet.”
“And why should we trust you?” Kix growled lowly, Maree taken aback by the hostility in his voice, though she agreed with the sentiment.
As the woman turned, she flicked her hair and laughed, sharp eyes locking with Kix’s before she began to move.
“Because I was here when Clone Force 99 arrived.”
*-*-*
“Lyanna, I swear to the Force, if you’ve bought those tourists here again, I’ll…”
The occupant of the house the woman led them to instantly froze the moment she laid eyes on Kix, the glass decanter in her hand falling onto the tile floor and shattering into a thousand pieces.
Her features were instantly recognisable, Maree inhaling a sharp breath as they lingered at the door, Lyanna rushing forward to help the other woman clean up, even as she stared in shock, familiar brown eyes wide and brimming with tears.
“It’s… that’s… not possible,” she breathed, her short, greyish white curls ringing her face as she began to cry, Lyanna quickly abandoning the now full dustpan and brush to wrap an arm around her shoulders.
“Sorry, ‘Mega. I know I should have warned you, but you know how quick word spreads…”
“It’s… it’s fine,” she tried, swallowing hard as she took a tentative step towards Kix, the medic reaching back for Maree once again, unsure.
“It’s her, love,” she murmured into Kix’s ear, nudging him forward, down the steps into the tiled kitchen, “it’s your sister.”
Kix blinked a few times, recognising his brothers in this woman; the nose, the eyes, the tight lips.
She was one of them. A clone.
“W-Who are you?” she stammered, searching Kix’s face, lingering on the barely visible edges of his tattoo for a moment, “How…”
“Kix,” he managed after a moment, the name barely gasped, “My… My name is Kix.”
“Kix,” she repeated, as if saying his name too loudly might scare him away, a smile breaking through the uncertainty on her face. “Echo told me about you, from the 501st… You were their medic… You… I’m Omega. I… I’m your…”
“Sister,” Kix finished for her, taking a step forward to meet her, the word bringing more tears to his eyes. “I know.”
Omega let out a sob, practically launching herself forward with a speed unbecoming of someone of her age, wrapping her arms around Kix, hugging him tightly.
After a moment of surprise, he let out a breath he didn’t even realise he was holding, releasing a shuddering sigh into her shoulder as he hugged her back, tears streaming down his face too.
“I thought we were the last ones,” Omega sobbed into him, squeezing even tighter before she released him, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. “He’s going to be so happy to see you!”
Omega’s gaze moved up to Maree, her smile widening as she gestured her forward, meeting her in a hug as well, names exchanged as Kix looked back at Omega, confused.
“Who?” he breathed, confusion making his head spin. Every one of his brothers would have been dead… Who could possibly be left?
“Come on, I’ll show you.”
*-*-*
Even before he could make out the facial features of the man sat in a chair at the end of the small garden of Omega’s house, his gaze locked on the expanse of ocean beyond the cliffs below, Kix recognised the stark outline of a scomp in place of a right forearm and mechanical legs crossed over one another, his breath hitching in his throat.
“Echo,” he croaked, the figure turning towards him a little too slowly, sunlight spilling over his face as he rocked back in his chair to find the source of the voice, confused.
“Fives?”
Kix’s heart broke a little, another soft nudge from Maree sending him forwards, stumbling over his own feet as he made his way towards his long lost brother, practically falling to his knees in front of him.
“Echo,” Kix repeated, crying in earnest, uncaring now, “it’s me. It’s Kix.”
“Kix…” Echo chuckled softly. “I knew a Kix once. Great medic. Cheated at sabacc like a mother-kriffer. He went missing, just after… after…”
Realisation seemed to cross Echo’s face as his eyes refocused, settling on Kix’s face.
The medic took in the sight of his brother, the thinning grey curls on his head, the ports from his time with the Techno Union still present and sunken now, wrinkles and lines littering his skin. And yet, he looked… content. Relaxed. As if he was just another old man enjoying his retirement in a sunny paradise, not a veteran of the Clone Wars.
His armour was long gone, replaced with soft cotton fabric, a tunic and shorts in white and blue, still holding onto the memory of the war.
“Kix?” Echo whispered, leaning in a little closer. “Is… Is that… Is it really you?”
“It’s me, vod,” Kix sobbed, reaching out for Echo’s flesh hand, clutching at it. The skin felt loose and wrinkled, but it was him, and it was real, and Echo was alive and here with him. “It’s me.”
Maree watched on with tears running down her face as Echo let out a cry of his own, practically falling out of his chair to hug Kix, the two of them sobbing and holding each other as years of pain and loneliness slipped away from them, clutching at each other like a lifeline.
“H-How?” Kix gasped as Omega moved forward, helping him to his feet and offering him a chair at the table opposite Echo, the two of them smiling through the tears now, barely contained euphoria flooding through them. Omega draped a blanket over Echo’s shoulders, the cyborg giving her a fond smile in return, and she drew up two more chairs for her and Maree, watching curiously as Kix reached for his lover’s hand, twining their fingers together for comfort.
“Techno Union bastards,” Echo chuckled coldly, shaking his scomp at Kix before sighing, spinning it around slowly. “Wanted to make good on their ‘investment’.”
Kix frowned in confusion, looking to Omega, who reached across the table and slipped her hand into Echo's, squeezing it in comfort.
“The Techno Union altered his DNA to remove the accelerated ageing gene that the Kaminoans deliberately implanted in all Clones during creation,” she smiled weakly. “Seems that they didn’t want a short term project with Echo.”
“The Techno Union?” Maree asked quietly, Kix nodding.
“Echo was held by them after he was left for dead at the Citadel on Lola Sayu during a rescue mission gone wrong. They gave him the cybernetics and used him as an algorithm to fight against his own brothers until Clone Force 99 freed him on Skako Minor.”
“You mean…” Maree’s eyes widened as she looked over Echo, taking in his implants and frail frame, the slightly lighter tone of his skin, his features visible even under the years of living he’d done, “he’s… He’s the Hero of Annaxes?”
“Annaxes?” Echo perked up suddenly, grinning ear to ear, “Yeah, fried all those kriffing clankers. Boom!” He let out a throaty laugh. “Wrecker used to say that. Boom! Blew them all up.”
He hesitated for a moment, looking to Omega, his expression falling a little.
“Is Wrecker home yet? It’s getting dark. You know how Hunter worries…”
Maree watched as Omega’s expression turned pained, a smile forced through the hurt as she nodded, squeezing Echo’s hand.
“Wrecker’s fine,” she reassured him thickly, swallowing hard. “He’s waiting for you. Remember?”
“Waiting…” Echo repeated, his gaze falling to his hand where it joined with Omega’s, nodding slowly. “Waiting. With… With Fives…”
Suddenly his eyes flickered back up to Omega’s face, his expression turning fond.
“You’ve grown up so much, ‘Mega,” he sighed, tapping her fingers with his own. “When did you get so tall? You look after us so well. What would we do without you?”
Kix’s heart broke a little more as Omega fought back tears, smiling through the distress, simply squeezing Echo’s hand back fondly.
“Gotta look after my little brothers,” she teased, Echo laughing loudly for a moment before it morphed into a cough, a mechanical wheezing coming from his chest.
Behind them, Lyanna appeared with a wheelchair, nodding to Omega, who helped Echo to stand.
“Come on, ori’vod. Time to get you inside in the warm,” she sniffed, Lyana smiling reassuringly as Echo transferred easily into the chair, readjusting the blanket and grinning at Omega.
“Love you, little ‘Mega,” he chuckled softly. “Oh, and tell that Kix… Tell him… Rex… yes… Rex. He was looking for him.”
“I will, Echo,” Omega smiled sadly, nodding to Lyanna as she took him inside, closing the door behind them.
Immediately, Maree was out of her chair, wrapping her arms around Omega, who broke down against her, sobbing hard.
“I, I’m sorry,” she stammered as the two sat down together, Omega desperately trying to dry her face with her hand, “It’s been… It’s been a long time since we spoke about the others, and… the last few years, his cybernetics have been… I’ve done my best, but Tech always used to… he used to do it, and I…”
Maree shushed her gently, looking up at Kix, the grief on his face apparent.
He was too late. Echo was all but gone, his last brother worn away by time and old age. And for a moment he was angry. Not at Echo, but at himself.
At least one of his brothers had gotten to live a long, happy life, retiring to paradise, and yet he had the audacity to be angry at that? That he wasn’t young enough to remember Kix?
No. He’d lived an entire, full life after the War, like every brother should have. That wasn’t something that should be mourned.
“Kix, are you okay?” Maree asked gently, reaching for his hand as Omega settled back into her chair, drying her tears.
Drawing in a shuddering breath, he forced a smile, nodding.
“Yeah. It’s… It’s just a lot,” he admitted, looking towards Omega. “How long do you think he has?” he managed, swallowing hard.
Omega shrugged, laughing at herself.
“Hours? Days? Weeks?” she shook her head. “Tech would be so disappointed in me for guessing. The truth is, I don’t know. He just seems like… Like he’s been waiting for something,” she sighed, looking at Kix with a frightened expression.
“Can I talk to him?” the medic asked softly. “I promise I won’t say anything that’ll upset him. I just… I’d like to hear his stories.”
“He’s got more than enough of them,” Omega sighed, nodding. “I’m going to turn in soon. You’re welcome to stay too,” she directed to Maree, who nodded in thanks, meeting Kix’s gaze.
“We should probably comm the others before they launch a full on siege looking for us,” she chuckled, Omega’s eyes widening a little. “Don’t worry,” Maree reassured her, “they wouldn’t get far. Not for lack of trying, though.”
The woman laughed, shaking her head.
“Sounds like the Batch back in the day. I’d like to meet them. I’ll comm Phee. Echo’s room is on the ground floor, first door on the left,” she informed Kix, who nodded, standing up from his chair and dropping a soft kiss to Maree’s head before heading inside, making for his brother’s room.
“How did he survive?” Omega asked Maree after Kix had disappeared inside, her gaze a mix of curiosity and suspicion.
“He found out about the chips,” Maree sighed softly, looking back towards the house, “and the Separatists found out about him. Captured him, tortured him, and locked him in a cryo-stasis chamber. That ship crashed, and fifty years later, Ithano and his crew found him and took him in.”
“That was nice of them,” Omega remarked, the statement said without malice or sarcasm, simply a genuine remark. “And you? How did you and Kix…”
“He came looking for answers,” Maree smiled sadly, “when I worked on Hosnian Prime. I studied the Clone Wars as a speciality subject. When he came to me, I assumed he had a Clone for a father, or grandfather. But as things went on…”
They sat together in silence for a time as the sun began to set and the night drew in, the beginnings of stars twinkling in the sky.
“Would you like to see the memorial?” Omega asked suddenly, breaking Maree’s reverie. “I usually go down just after dark to see them.”
Maree hesitated for a moment before nodding sagely, the weight of the offer not lost on her.
“If that’s okay?”
“Of course,” Omega smiled, a youthful energy seeming to overtake her, “it’s down by the pier. It’s beautiful at night. We made sure they had one of the best spots, after everything they did for us.”
“Will you tell me?” Maree prompted, excited at the prospect of learning about this lost piece of history from an era she thought she knew so well.
Omega simply grinned, gesturing for her to follow.
*-*-*
“Echo? You awake?”
Kix crept into the room quietly, greeted by a soft grumble, his lips tilting up into a smile.
“Briefing’s not til oh-eight hundred,’ Echo grumbled, ‘g’back to sleep.”
Kix let out a huff of laughter, shaking his head as he moved to sit on the end of the bed, noting Echo’s prosthetics laid out neatly on the floor next to it.
Tucked up to his neck by a thick duvet and a handwoven blanket, he looked utterly relaxed, his eyes fluttering.
“I know, Vod,” Kix offered gently, “I just wanted to check in on you.” “Thanks, Kix, but I’m fine. Same ol’ aches and pains. They’ll go.” “One day,” Kix finished for him with a grin, Echo returning it softly.
“How are the others?” Echo murmured, sitting up as much as he could. “I heard Jesse became an ARC.”
“He sure did,” Kix smiled sadly, the lump in his throat returning, “but hey, what about you? I want to hear all about your missions with the Batch. Omega said you guys got up to some crazy stuff.”
Echo seemed to zone out for a moment, his eyes searching Kix’s. Not finding what he was looking for, his smile returned quickly, chest shaking with laughter as he shook his head.
“You wouldn’t believe half of it,” he huffed, Kix shuffling closer, giving Echo his full attention.
“Try me.”
“Well,” Echo smirked, making him look years younger as mischief flashed in his eyes, “there was a time, we had to get some crates from a nest of Aggrocrabs…”
Omega hadn’t been lying, Maree mused to herself as she looked over the calm ocean waves, the reflection of stars sparkling across the tiny waves that lapped at the shore.
“It really is beautiful,” she whispered as she took in the serene beauty of the stone statue of a clone trooper, obviously lovingly hand carved from stone, standing in pride of place over the small pier just below.
At the base, flower rings and candles littered the floor, handmade ornaments and coins from all over the galaxy.
“After the Clone Rebellion, a lot of them came back here,” Omega explained softly, silent tears rolling down her cheeks. “They’d lost so much, but what they had, what we all had left, we gave to Pabu. We built homes, families, but not quickly enough. The accelerated ageing caught up with them, and…”
Her breath hitched in her throat, an apologetic smile gracing her lips.
“There are over two hundred clone troopers here,” she explained quietly. “We cremated them, and they were scattered on the beach. This is a place where we come to remember, where we can be close to them again.”
Closing her eyes and inhaling deeply, she let her memories flow, more tears falling.
“This was my second real home. The first was the Marauder, our ship. But when we came here…”
As she opened her eyes, Maree watched the play of emotions over the older woman’s face.
“Tech would take me flying over the island, giving me lessons. Wrecker built the sea wall almost single handedly, and Hunter would help with rebuilding the houses and hunting for food. They loved it here. Until… The Empire…”
She trailed off, looking back out to sea.
“They’re gone now,” she sighed deeply, “and Echo saw all of them go, one by one. He felt so guilty about outliving them, even though it wasn’t his fault.”
Maree nodded, her stomach twisting a little.
“I think Kix feels the same,” she admitted with a sigh. “He woke up thinking he could still save his brothers, save the Republic. It’s taken him a long time to accept that he couldn’t. I just hope speaking to Echo helps him. He deserves happiness, he’s been through so much.”
Omega’s smile softened as she looked Maree over, her gaze lingering on the slight swell of her stomach.
“It seems like he’s found that with you,” she offered softly, turning back to look at the Memorial. “You know, after we found out Echo wasn’t ageing as fast as the others, I tried to find a cure for them. We did so many tests, taking DNA samples, comparing mine, Echo’s and every other clone we could find. The Techno Union databanks were all purged, and there wasn’t much left of the Kaminoan’s research…”
She trailed off as Maree joined her in staring out into the ocean.
Kix’s lifespan was always going to be shorter than hers. She knew that when she committed herself to him, and it wasn’t something she tried to dwell on too much. But knowing Omega had seen so much of it, that they’d tried… Something inside her broke as she ran her hand over her stomach, emotions welling inside her.
“It’s not fair, what they went through,” she sobbed, tears blurring her vision. “Even now, Kix can’t escape it. The war ended fifty years ago, and he’s still suffering.”
Turning into Omega as the older woman wrapped an arm around her shoulder, she sobbed hard and harder, mourning for a future that hadn’t even come yet. They had more years left together, she knew, but it was all going to end too soon.
“It’s not fair,” she choked out again, shaking her head. “It’s not,” Omega agreed plainly, grabbing Maree’s hand and placing a small data stick into it, their eyes meeting as Maree looked down at it in confusion.
“Wha…”
“It’s not fair,” Omega repeated thickly, “but this can change that.”
Maree’s heart skipped a beat or two as she stared, wide eyed at Omega, trying to process what she was saying.
“I… I don’t understand…”
With the moonlight dancing over her face, Omega suddenly looked so much older. She looked tired, the years finally taking their toll. Drawing in a long breath, she forced a smile, meeting Maree’s gaze with a familiar intensity.
“I figured it out too late for most of them,” Omega sniffed, more tears rolling down her cheeks, “but it gave Hunter and Wrecker a few more years, at least. But for Kix… He’d age normally. No dying too young. No accelerated ageing. You can grow old together. The way it’s meant to be.”
Maree stared at the datastick in her hand, her mind stalling, forgetting how to breathe for a moment.
“You… You did it?” she croaked, looking back to Omega, hope blooming in her chest, “You stopped it?”
“I did,” Omega cried, “and finally, I can help someone with it. You and Kix can be together properly, not rushing, not scrambling to live a full life in half the time you should have. I… I owe the others that.”
Unable to do anything else, Maree clutched at the datastick and hugged Omega tightly, the two of them sharing their grief and their hope.
“Thank you,” Maree gasped eventually, her heart swelling with emotion, “I… I can’t put into words how much this means. Thank you!”
“Just take care of my brother,” Omega sniffed, her voice cracking, “they love so intensely. He’ll never let you down.”
“I will. I promise you.”
*-*-*
By the time Omega and Maree made it back to the house, it was silent and dark, both creeping down the hallway to look in on Echo’s room, their hearts warmed by the sight that greeted them.
The brothers were laid next to each other in the small bed, their foreheads pressed together as they slept. The soft mechanical whirring of Echo’s cybernetics didn’t seem to bother the medic, his face completely relaxed in sleep, Omega sighing as she watched them.
Gesturing silently to Maree, they backed out of the room, sharing a warm smile. Their family was safe and content, and they could ask for nothing more.
After Omega showed Maree to the spare room, bidding her goodnight and laughing softly as Maree fell into the plush mattress, relishing in how soft it was, Maree pulled out her comm, checking it idly as she pulled her hair loose and placed the ties onto the bedside table, giggling to herself at some of the messages.
Of course, there were several from Reveth, all sorts of colourful language used, the text becoming less and less legible as they went on and becoming more in depth about how awesome this ‘Phee’ was.
Ithano had only sent two, one stating they were ‘fine’ and the other reading ‘try the beer’.
Maree let out a snort of laughter as she stripped her clothes off and hung them on the chair on the far side of the room, slipping under the duvet with a deep sense of satisfaction, scrolling through the last of the comms.
Quiggold had only sent one, and to their group message at that; a holo of himself stood on the sea wall, wet with sea water and smiling toothily. It seemed he was having the time of his life, and Maree was glad that the at times uptight Gabdorian had finally been able to let loose.
With another deep sigh, she set her comm to the side and settled into the comfortable bed, quickly falling into a dreamless sleep. Whatever the morning brought, she knew they would be okay.
*-*-*
The next day was a busy one.
Before anyone had even woken properly, Ithano, Reventh and Quiggold appeared at the front door with the child who had led them away the day before and an elderly woman with warm, dark skin and thick grey curls hung with golden coils in tow, their laughter audible from the end of the street.
Maree heard the door go and the familiar voice of Omega greeting them, soon followed by the smell of cooking meats and the strong scent of coffee. It was too tempting, and she soon found herself washed, dressed and heading downstairs, eyes softening as she bumped into Kix at the foot of them, supporting Echo to hobble to the kitchen.
“Morning,” he smiled gently, Maree returning the gesture, nodding to Echo, who was eyeing her with interest.
“Well hello,” he chuckled throatily, “nobody told me we had such a radiant visitor to our home! Kix, is this your girl?”
The medic flushed brightly, nudging Echo gently in a show of faux displeasure as he sighed, looking Maree over, his gaze full of adoration.
“Sure is,” he grinned, “definitely worth the wait.”
Maree flushed brightly, leaning in to peck his cheek before making way for the two of them to pass, Echo grinning toothily at her.
“We should take her to 79’s,” Echo chortled, Kix smiling sadly, “show her off. Jesse and Fives will be so jealous.”
Kix simply laughed, nodding.
“They will, vod. I know they will.”
“Gotta find me a nice girl too,” Echo hummed happily, grinning, “though did I ever tell you about Riyo? Pantoran senator I worked with, the most amazing tits…”
“Echo!” Omega chastised him as she brought a plate of fried meat and eggs over to the table, rolling her eyes, “Child present!”
“Oh, sorry, sprout,” he chuckled sheepishly, winking at Omega as he settled at the table with Kix’s help, Maree shaking her head fondly as the other woman met her gaze, huffing. “Phee! You made it!” he exclaimed suddenly, looking at the elderly woman at the end of the table, her smile matching his. “Is Tech with you?”
Phee simply laughed softly, a sadness permeating her very presence as she shook her head, sighing.
“Hey Echo. No, he’s… away,” she smiled weakly. “We’re all going to meet up soon. Promise.”
“Good, good,” Echo nodded, seemingly satisfied. “Miss that nerd.”
“Gramma, what’s a nerd?” came a little voice from beside Phee, the little girl from the day before tugging at her gold and red robe, wide eyes staring up at her.
Maree couldn’t help but smile at the little girl as Kix pulled out a chair for her, helping her to sit before dropping a soft kiss into her hair, pulling it back over her shoulders where it still hung loose.
“A nerd is a clever person, someone who is really good at computers, like your grandpa Tech,” Phee explained calmly, stroking the little girl’s curls as she smiled down at her.
“Oooh,” the girl nodded, thinking hard, “like Revy?”
“Hey!” Reveth protested, Maree watching with curiosity as the twi’lek grabbed the little girl, tickling her sides and picking her up, drawing shrieking giggles from the child as she struggled and wiggling in her grip, completely unbothered by the presence of her robotic arm. “I told you, squirt, I’m a slicer. Not a nerd!”
Ithano watched with interest for a moment before turning to look between Kix and Maree, nodding to them both in greeting.
“There is nothing wrong with being technologically fluent,” Quiggold interjected, Reveth rolling her eyes as she placed the child on the ground again, winking at her as she ran to take her own seat at the far end of the table, waving to Maree.
The easy banter continued over breakfast, Omega’s smile growing as she listened and laughed, coming to sit next to Maree, Lyanna arriving shortly after the meal began with some fresh rolls from the bakery a few streets away, divvying them up between the gathering.
Kix watched with an amused smile as Maree broke one of the rolls open and inhaled the scent of the freshly baked bread, eyes fluttering closed as she hummed in contentment.
“Enjoying yourself?” he teased, Maree frowning good naturedly at him.
“It’s been far too long since I had fresh bread,” she lamented as Omega passed her the butter, a generous serving scooped into the fluffy inside of the roll, beginning to soften immediately. “I used to live near this wonderful little bakery until a pirate came and swept me off my feet and dragged me into a life of adventure.”
“Oh?” Kix queried smugly, “I hope he was worth it.”
“Definitely,” she winked, giggling as Kix leaned over to press a kiss to the side of her head, the two sharing a moment while the conversation flowed around them.
“So, what’s the plan for today?” Phee asked from the head of the table, eyes fond as she watched the interaction between Maree and Kix, grinning as Echo’s attention turned to her, his eyes bright.
“I think I’d like to sit in the garden again,” he grinned happily, “Wrecker’s plants are growing in nicely, right ‘Mega?”
“Who’s Wrecker?” Reveth asked with a mouth full of bread, earning her a sharp elbow from Ithano, remaining stoic even as the twi’lek growled in response.
“Wrecker,” Echo laughed, “my vod. One of my vod. Big guy, can’t miss him.”
Kix let out a huff of laughter, shaking his head.
“You know I watched him lift an entire gunship on his own once?” he grinned, Maree’s eyes widening with shock. “Just threw it like it was a dumpster.”
“Really?” Phee chuckled lightly, tilting her head to one side as Kix nodded.
“Oh yeah, picked up my brother like he was nothing as well. Wouldn’t have wanted to be on his bad side!”
Omega giggled, the sound almost foreign, Echo turning to beam at her as she did.
“He taught me how to disarm bombs too.”
“He what?” Kix spluttered in disbelief, Maree hiding her mouth behind her hand as she tried not to laugh at his reaction. “But you were just a kid!”
“Hey, I’m still older than you, vod’ika,” Omega reminded him sternly, her face softening into a brilliant smile. “You should have seen Hunter’s reaction when he taught me how to twirl his knife!”
“Now, this is a story I can get behind,” Reveth smirked, Ithano leaning in to listen as Quiggold pulled out his datapad, seemingly making notes as Omega smiled at Echo, the old clone nodding in encouragement, settling in for the story.
“Well we’d just finished a mission on Jakku, and we were heading back to the ship when I saw Hunter spinning his vibroblade and asked him if I could try…”
*-*-*
The day sped by all too quickly.
Even when breakfast was long finished, the group remained at the table, listening to Omega’s tales of her brothers, Echo adding in his own memories when he could as the crew of the Stinger listened in amazement, Kix explaining some terminology when they were unsure.
He was equally amazed by the tales, by Omega’s bravery, even as a child, and of the group’s loyalty to each other.
When it came to the parts where Echo left to help Rex with the Clone rebellion, he was utterly unsurprised, smiling proudly at the determination Echo still showed, his own pride in his actions apparent.
The stories continued as they spilled into the garden, the bright midday sun beating down on them as Lyanna and Omega cleaned up and got lunch ready, blankets and chairs laid out and even the sofa moved into the garden by Reveth and Ithano to accommodate such a big group.
Phee took her turn as well, telling stories of her adventures with the Clones, of their treasure hunts gone awry, of bringing them to Pabu, and how she’d fallen for Tech.
By the time they were done laughing, eating and reminiscing, the sun was beginning to set on the horizon.
One by one, Phee and her little grandchild, then Lyanna left, only the crew of the Stinger remaining with Echo and Omega, Ithano, Reveth and Quiggold moving inside as the temperature began to drop.
With blankets drawn around them, Maree and Kix sat with Echo and Omega, listening as Echo recounted tales from the 501st, much to Omega’s delight.
Kix’s cheeks were hurting from laughing so hard, Echo’s voice rough from speaking for so long, dried tears of joy on both of their faces.
“And the time Fives replaced the blue paint with neon pink, and Rex didn’t even notice because we’d sabotaged the caf machine!”
“I don’t know how he coped with you two,” Kix chuckled, Echo nodding, his memories flowing as they reminisced.
The last beams of sunlight began to disappear over the horizon as their laughter faded, leaving them in a comfortable silence, Echo’s body heaving with the occasional laugh, the sound of his cybernetics so much louder than Kix could ever remember.
“He had a soft spot for us after Rishi,” Echo explained simply, waving his hand. “After we lost Cutup and… and… oh, what were their names? Hev… Hevy? And… and…”
His focus seemed to fade, eyes glazing over as Omega placed another blanket around his shoulders, his hand coming up to pat hers as he smiled lazily up at her.
“Do you want to go inside?” she asked softly, the old clone shaking his head, settling further back into his chair.
“No, I’m alright,” he replied firmly, reaching for her hand and squeezing it again, none of them missing how he was shivering. “I’m enjoying this. Catching up. Seeing my brother.”
“As long as you’re warm enough,” she grinned, looking between her brothers, “you’ve had a lot of catching up to do.”
Echo nodded sagely, his chest rattling loudly as he drew in a sharp breath, frowning.
“‘Mega… Can you get Tech? Think that my… my pipes need some work again.”
Kix met Omega’s gaze with a sympathetic expression, not missing how she winced at the name, sighing as she knelt down in front of him, holding his hand in hers.
“Tech’s a bit busy at the moment, Echo,” Omega explained gently, “but I’ll make sure he pops by later.”
Echo huffed, frowning as he shifted to look at Kix, his eyes widening a little in recognition.
“Kix… Rex was looking for you!” he smiled, the medic’s heart aching.
“I know, vod,” he reassured Echo, reaching to place his hand over Omega’s, reassuring her silently..
“He sent us out looking for years,” Echo chuckled softly, “we looked everywhere. You just vanished. I always said you’d be okay.”
Drawing another deep, rattling breath, Echo beamed at Kix, his face relaxing.
“You’re okay, Kix.” Tears spilled over the medic’s face as Echo nodded, confident in his own words. “You’re okay.”
Kix’s breath hitched as he shifted closer to Echo, wrapping an arm around his shoulders.
In a way, he knew.
Echo was slipping away.
Like one last hurrah, their reminiscing seemed to have drained him, his eyes fluttering as Omega let out a broken sob, leaning up to stroke through his curls as he smiled gently, the whirring of his cybernetics beginning to slow.
“Omega,” he called in little more than a whisper, “little ‘Mega. You’re so brave. So strong. Love you, ‘Mega.”
“I love you too,” she sobbed, leaning in to kiss his forehead. Echo relaxed back into the chair, his breathing slowing. “I love you so much, Echo.”
“Hunter was right,” Echo grinned weakly, “better than all of us. Take… Takin’ care of me…”
With another shuddering breath, Echo reached for Kix’s hand gently, his strength fading.
“Hey… ‘m g’na see Fives,” he slurred the lights on his headpiece beginning to flicker dimly, “and… my… our vod.”
Kix nodded through his tears, grief wracking his body.
“Tell him he’s the bravest idiot I know, and he and Jesse had better save me a seat,” he laughed wetly, Echo chuckling in return.
“Oya, Kix,” he breathed, his chest rising and falling once more before it seemed to stutter, his eyes closing, lips falling lax as every muscle in his body seemed to relax all at once, his final breath drawn.
The whir of his cybernetics faded to complete silence as the lights on his headpiece blinked for the last time, fading to nothing as his body shut down, his head lolling onto his chest, his soul finally free.
“Oya,” Kix sobbed, “Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la.”
As he fell to the floor, Kix embraced Omega, the two of them sobbing into each other, tears soaking each other’s shoulders.
He was finally at peace, back with Fives, back with the rest of the Batch. And they were no longer alone. And yet it still hurt more than they could express, nothing but sobs and hitched breath between them as Maree knelt next to them both, drawing them into a joint embrace, shedding tears of her own for her family.
*-*-*
The funeral was a small affair. Exactly how Echo would have wanted it to be.
A simple service, Kix giving a eulogy punctuated by anecdotes about their time together, a tribute to how special Echo had been. Omega finished the service with a poem of her own making, tears rolling down her cheeks as she looked over her family and friends, Phee’s face shining with tears, surrounded by her own family as she nodded encouragement, a communal farewell to someone who was quite obviously adored.
As numb as Kix felt, he concentrated on the feel of Maree’s hand in his, squeezing and reassuring throughout the short service, her nudge of encouragement appreciated as Omega offered her hand to him, the two of them moving to the end of the pier with the urn containing Echo’s ashes.
With both of their hands holding it, they shared a nod before opening the lid and tipping it towards the sea, the contents caught by the wind, drifting through the air towards the open ocean.
He watched with a soft smile as a sudden gust of wind tore through the bay, seeming to seize the ashes and lift them higher and higher, twirling in what could only be described as a playful manner, creating a beautiful swirling pattern as it rose into the sky.
A warmth settled on his skin that had nothing to do with the balmy sunlight, instead, a weight seeming to lift from inside him as he let out a choked laugh, tears spilling over.
“Fives,” he sobbed quietly, “that has to be Fives.”
Omega simply smiled and nodded as she placed the urn at their feet, lacing her hand with Kix’s as they gazed upward, watching the last of Echo’s mortal form vanish.
“They’re together again,” Omega smiled through her grief, leaning into him a little, “they’re all together again.”
As the crowd dispersed, the crew of the Stinger remained by the memorial at the pier, lighting candles in memory of Echo, Reveth and Ithano sharing their own stories with Phee as Quiggold educated the nearby children about his species, many of them curious.
Kix drew Maree onto one of the benches nearby as Omega laid down one last offering at the shrine, her breath hitching with sobs as she placed Echo’s scomp delicately at the base, the appendage leaning against the worn stone in a place of honour.
Next to the scomp, a small box remained, one she picked up tenderly and opened, coming to sit next to Maree, grateful for her embrace as they all shuffled together.
“This is all I have left of them now,” she murmured sadly, picking a worn piece of red fabric from the box, what seemed to be a bandana. The colour was faded, a white skull painted onto the front almost grey from old age. It was tattered and well loved, Omega stroking lovingly over the skull before placing it back in the box, next retrieving a pair of battered goggles.
Again, she stroked over the metal rim, smiling to herself as she remembered her adventures with her brothers.
“I’m sorry you didn’t get long with him,” she directed to Kix, sniffing as she closed the box, the memories too much for now. “If I’d known…”
“I got to say goodbye,” Kix murmured through his tears, “and that was all I could have asked for.”
Omega nodded, silently standing and returning the box to the memorial, her eyes lingering on Echo’s scomp, fresh tears rolling down her cheeks.
“He was happy,” she sighed, turning to face Kix and Maree again, looking between them, “he was really happy. He loved it here, and everyone loved him. And I hope that… I hope that this gives you at least a bit of closure,” she managed, turning her attention to Maree, “and if you’re looking for somewhere to settle down for a while… as a parent… there’s no finer place to raise a child.”
Kix swallowed hard, meeting Maree’s gaze as his hand slipped over her stomach, his smile returning as he felt over the swell of it, frowning when he felt something sharp in her pocket.
“What’s that?” he asked curiously, Maree’s eyes widening.
In all of the goings on, she’d forgotten about Omega’s gift.
Tentatively pulling it from her pocket, she placed it in Kix’s palm, the datastick seemingly insignificant. Confused, Kix tilted his head slightly in silent question, Maree’s own tears welling up again.
“Omega gave it to me,” she explained quietly, biting her bottom lip. “She figured it out. The cure, I mean, for your accelerated ageing. We can stop it. We can build a life, a proper one. No rush, no fighting for time. Just us. The three of us.”
Kix stared at the stick in his hand for a few long moments, processing the information.
This tiny little thing was going to change his life. Give him more time with Maree, give him more time with his child.
One last gift from his brothers and sister.
“I… I….”
“You don’t have to make a decision right now,” Maree reassured him gently, closing her hands over his, cradling the stick, “but… mmmph!”
She never got to finish her sentence as Kix caught her lips in a passionate kiss, his free hand wrapping around the back of her neck, holding her close.
“I don’t need to think,” he murmured against her lips as they broke apart, tears escaping as their gazes met once again. “I know what I want. And I want this.”
Omega could only smile as she headed back to the house, memories flowing through every step.
For so long, she’d been so scared she’d be alone. And yet, now she had discovered another brother, another family.
And for once, Hunter’s declaration to her when they’d first settled on Pabu made sense, her throat constricting as she reached the house, running a hand over the stone next to the front door, a familiar scrawl from her childhood memorialised permanently in the duracrete, along with five handprints of various sizes, long worn deeper by the weather.
‘A home is not a home without the people who make it.’
“Welcome home,” she murmured as she re-entered the house, smiling to herself as a familiar warmth flooded through her.
They’d never truly be gone. She’d never be alone.
Little Soldats - BuckyBarnes/OC
By RissaRarity
CHAPTER SEVEN
She slowly woke up to a warm towel being wiped on her stomach. “James?” she asked immediately, opening her eyes like they were weighted down.
“Niet.” [No] came a hollow tone.
“We have to do it again before you go…don’t we?” her voice broke.
“Yes but don’t worry about that right now. I need to get you taken care of before I leave again.”
Tears slid down her cheeks while she laid still and let him wipe the crust off her belly, crying out when he wiped her pelvis and thighs as the deep pain set in.
“C-can I see James for t-this?” she asked pitifully.
The Soldat frowned, “I’m afraid not. Mind control doesn’t come with an at will on and off switch, you know. The fact that you met him at all is…” he shook his head, raising his eyebrows.
She nodded and sighed in relief when she was able to move her arm to wipe her tears.
“Your medicine wore off while you slept, but you are still weak. I will help you to insure your safety.” He stated matter-of-factly, slowly helping her sit up against the pillows and holding a water bottle with a straw in it up to her.
Vanessa eagerly drank most of the bottle, cracked lips sticking to the straw a little. “I need…to go to the bathroom.” She tucked her chin in shame.
The Soldat nodded and helped her sit on the edge of the bed, putting his metal arm around her to help her slowly hobble like a new born deer. She whimpered as she felt thick liquid between her legs, going to look before his flesh hand gently pushed her chin back up.
“Don’t look.” He said softly, tearing his eyes away to look ahead.
After she finished using the bathroom he helped her into the tub he’d already filled with warm water.
Vanessa let her mind drift while he cleaned her with a surprisingly gentle touch, soon finding herself leaning on him while he dried her with a towel. He drained the tub and let her brush her hair while he opened the door for a moment and the scent of food floated through the room.
She hesitantly came out of the bathroom wrapped in the towel and leaning on the wall, flinching slightly as the Soldats icy eyes snapped back to her for a moment before he came over and helped her over to the tiny table.
He sat across from her and watched her eat in silence. When she was done, he tossed the garbage and started double checking his gear .
“W-why are you helping me?”
He hesitated with his back to her, “…I need to keep you in decent health. I gave you too much last night…I thought you’d be back to normal when I returned. You weren’t.” He sounded…sad.
Vanessa’s soft heart melted for him a little like it had when they’d first met. “I’m okay now though, thanks to you. You did a good job with me this morning.” She offered a small smile.
He didn’t reply for a moment and turned back to face her, “I have to go soon.” His blue eyes were distant.
Her smile fell as she nodded, pushing with her hands to stand and letting the towel fall to the floor. His eyes roamed over her, making her look down at herself and gasp in shock.
Her hips were black and blue, waist, thighs and calves had clear hand shaped bruises all over from him having to maneuver her so much the previous night.
His chest tightened as he watched her tentatively touch some of the marks and hiss in pain as she did so. The Soldat came over to her used his flesh hand to tilt her chin back up, seeing her eyes glossy with tears.
He rested his forehead on hers, sighing, “I’m sorry, Vanessa. I have to.” She looked up to see a flicker of James just for a second before the soldier returned, though the look of sadness remained. “You’re a nice girl. Shame you got caught up in this.”
She was surprised at his sincerity, and let him take her hand and lead her over to the bed that now had fresh sheets on it.
--
After the holding time, the Soldat gingerly cleaned her up and got himself around for his mission.
“If I don’t return…” he said, pausing at the door and looking over at where she sat on the bed, covered by the sheet.
“Stay out of the folder in that pocket,” he pointed to the main zipper of his backpack that sat by the window. “and don’t read its contents until you’re sure I’m not coming back.”
He met her eyes firmly and looked at her for a long time. “I really am sorry for all of this, Vanessa Johansen. I hope that in your next life you find the happiness you deserve.”
The words felt odd coming from the winter soldier, but she knew it they were his and not from James. Come to think of it, he’d always said he didn’t have much of a soft spot or James’ level of emotional attachment to her…not that he didn’t have any.
So long without being reset seemed to have effected him in ways she hadn’t expected -ways that he hadn’t expected either.
He watched as she stood, wrapped the sheet around her like a dress and slowly padded over to him.
“Your orders aren’t your fault, Soldat. I don’t hate you…either of you.” Her soft hand caressed his cheek, “and I do hope you come back to me, Moy Soldat.” She got on her toes and softly kissed him, still holding his cheek.
To her surprise, he kissed her back just as gently, hesitating before lightly touching her arm instead of her bruised waist. She felt tears that weren’t her own wet her cheeks and she let him decide when the kiss was over.
He looked her in the eyes for a long time after, then left.
--
He didn’t come back that night. She waited and waited, opting to turn on the TV and see if it was on The News yet.
This entire time she’d avoided social media and news platforms because she didn’t want to know what the Soldier was doing…but now that she already did, she just hoped he’d be okay.
She spent all of the following day watching the news, only pausing to grab a slice of banana bread a few times during the day or get water.
Vanessa waited and waited no one ever came to the door. The sounds of the street had fallen into background noise she scarcely noticed anymore.
He’d never been gone this long before, but surely the news would have gotten something if anything big happened.
More time passed until she was out of banana bread. She began to wonder how many nights James had paid for because not a single person had come to the door.
She began to wake up nauseous, darting to the toilet to empty her stomach. She lived each day worrying about James and hoping he was alright. She wanted to have the utmost faith in him, but with a superhero sized target- and potentially the entire team of superheros to face off against- she was doubting he’d ever return to her.
Then she saw it on the news. Clumsy news crews caught shaky footage of The Winter Soldier fighting Cap and Black Widow in the middle of the street.
Vanessa wished she had internet access to see everything she could learn about it and see if he might possibly walk away from it.
The reporter’s tone was grim as she informed viewers that The Winter Soldier had escaped and was still at large.
But he didn’t come back that night.
A few days later, she saw huge SHEILD aircrafts exploding and falling into the water on nearly every channel.
Bile rose in her throat and she bit her lip to hold down her lunch. At the moment, the public wasn’t sure if either the Soldier or Captain had made it.
After another week of no word from her companion, and no visitors other than food delivery people, and Vanessa tearfully accepted that James probably didn’t survive the…crashplosion?
Vanessa recalled what he’d told her before he left, and slowly approached his bag. She opened it and patted the compartment he’d spoken about finding what felt like a file, a small pliable box and a little device.
Nervously chewing her cheek she opened the zipper and reached inside. The folder was a copy of her file from Hydra, complete with notes and surveillance photos taken of her before she was kidnapped
To her horror there were even surveillance photo stills from the base- several featuring her butt- some of her shivering in her cell, or photos with her hospital gown on being pushed toward the Soldat.
She also found a couple of fairly recent photos of she and James, the ones he’d taken when she'd bought a Polaroid camera at a thrift store.
She’d forgotten it at a hotel shortly after buying it, but he’d held on to the photos.
A smile crossed her face as she looked at the first one, her standing in a bathroom mirror with James who stood with his arms crossed and made an amused, fake annoyed face as she made a silly one.
This was one of the times the motel room came with a few small bottles of liquor you’d pay $1 for at the counter. Seeing no harm in it, James let Vanessa try them.
He gave her an impressed look as she followed his instructions and successfully downed two of the bottles.
She coughed a little after the second one and gagged a little, his grin turning amused.
Within moments, Vanessa was dancing around the motel room to whatever music channel she could find on the TV. She found a 2000’s mix and lost herself in the music, forgetting the blue eyes that watched her, still grinning and holding back laughter.
She was NOT a graceful dancer, but was on beat and knew what parts of the song to bop to for emphasis.
James loved to watch her relax for once and have some fun. He was so glad they were on the same page about enjoying their time, privacy and free will while they had it-better that that her constantly trying to fight him and escape.
“I’ve never drank before. This feels so cool!” she smiled, slightly out of breath as she turned down the TV
“How old are you? I don’t think I’ve ever asked.”
“Nineteen.”
“So I’m letting an underage girl drink alcohol?”
She giggled, pushing his shoulder playfully as she sat down next to him on the bed. “Because of all the things you’ve done while we’re on this road trip, THAT’S the one that’ll do ya in! The big one! You’re in trouble now, mister!”
He laughed and shook his head, “You make a good point.”
Her cheeks were pink in her inebriated state, long hair in a Dutch braid she liked to sleep in. She wore PJ pants and a tank top but was getting visibly sweaty.
“I’m too warm.” She wiped her forehead, “Is that part of being drunk?”
He nodded.
“ ‘m gonna change.” She stumbled over to her bag and began to rifle through it.
James watched as she retrieved a pastel purple nightgown with lace around the bust. He expected her to change in the bathroom but much to his surprise, she simply turned her back to him and slipped off her thicker pajamas and slid the soft, breezy material over her head.
It fit her like a glove but the fabric still had some stretch for comfort.
James’ breath hitched for a moment as he noticed the dress clinging to her outline. He’d seen her naked a lot by now, but for him it was more intimate to see her in light clothing-like she was willingly letting her guard down with him instead of being influenced by the mission.
Vanessa shook her hips to the soft 2000s song that played in the background, smiling as she turned around.
“Dance with me?” she stepped closer and bent down slightly, flashing him a smile as she held her hand out.
“I don’t know these dances, Doll.”
“They aren’t all actual dances, it’s really fun to just…let it out. Feel it!” her eyes shined, a snapshot of her face he hoped he’d get to keep.
“Okay.” He took her hand and watched her hop around and shake her head, laughing as she looked over at him.
He tried to dance a little but wound up feeling silly and was clearly uncomfortable so she turned off the TV.
“You don’t want to dance anymore?”
“No, I just want to hangout.” She sat down in the chair, stopping to admire the blue plaid throw blanket James had left there. Her delicate fingers ran over the soft fabric and she quickly wrapped it around her shoulders and tied it into a cape that wound up covering her chest.
She spread it out in the chair behind her and sat on it. “A throne befitting a queen!” she declared, making him start to laugh.
“You have such a nice laugh, James.” She said after a moment, “Let’s capture the moment! Come on!” she stood up and wobbled a little, catching herself on his outstretched metal arm.
After giving a sheepish smile she grabbed her new-to-her Polaroid camera, held on to his arm and led him over to the bathroom mirror.
She let go of his arm and hip bumped him, “Come on, give us a smile!” he deliberately put his Soldat face on in protest.
“Don’t you go deadeyed on me!” she laughed poking at his sides until he laughed and gently pushed her away with his flesh arm.
She made a silly face in the mirror, blanket cape around her shoulders and adorably drunk, he wore a tank top and some basketball shorts looking over and down at her like she was a mischievous kid.
*Click*
Vanessa flipped to the next photo of James with her holding up a dress to make it look like he was wearing it, she giggled at it and felt tears she hadn’t noticed slide down her cheeks.
She found the one she’d taken of them while driving down the road, her eyes and up in the lower corner and him waving with his metal hand behind the wheel at a red light. A few more miscellaneous photos of them both and one test shot he’d taken of himself, brows furrowed as he looked at the camera, somewhat confused.
The next photo made her gasp, eyes glued to every detail of the image.
A photo of the two of them from above, James was sleep with his head on her chest over her heart, breathing with his mouth open. Vanessa had arranged the sheet to cover her breasts and held the camera up to get the photo.
Knowing her eyes would show her exhaustion, she’d turned her head a bit to rest her nose in his hair, closing her eyes.
Honestly, a beautiful, intimate photo that anyone would swear was a normal couple in love. That photo showed the good times with James, and the bond that they’d built. How he’d changed a few days after they’d landed and went from being The Winter Soldier back to more of himself. Crazy to think that that’s who the man in the photo was.
Famed fist of Hydra, legendary assassin and remorseless killing machine The Winter Soldier; was cuddling with her, listening to her heart, sleeping on her chest and possibly even drooling on it a little.
They’d both discussed that they’d have to burn these before returning to base. She thought he’d already done it but here they were. She thought there were more photos but she was grateful he'd saved any for her- even if it was for in the event of his…extended disappearance.
That was her favorite photo.
In the folder she also found a few envelopes with letters in them; the first one was addressed to her and several pages long.
She wiped her eyes and sat on the bed, curling around a throw pillow as she began to read the letter.
Vanessa Johansen-
I’m writing this while I drive so sorry for any mistakes, it’s the only way to be able to think and speak freely without the soldier in the shadows.
I’m sorry the world has been unfair to you. I’m sorry for everything I’ve been forced to do to you, and everytime I hurt you. You had your whole life stolen from you before you were even old enough to legally DRINK.
He’s had it worse. Decades of no free will and being forced to risk his own life and kill countless people. No memory of his childhood, family or friends…at least SHE had those.
And as I say that, you’re probably telling yourself that I had it worse so it’s not a big deal.
Busted.
I appreciate how kind and considerate you’ve been since we met. The longer I go without being reset the more I remember, and I recently remembered our first…interaction.
You apologized to me. Ever since the first time you apologized to me. I could see how it broke you after a while but you kept trying to support me. You always tell me I’m a good person with a good heart, that I’m not guilty of the Soldats orders…and I wish I could truly believe you. But your lie means more to me than you can possibly know.
If you’re reading this I died on my last mission.
I’m glad we got to spend this time together and live the happiest lived we could under the circumstances. You embrace each new place and look around in awe like a puppy that can’t wait to get out of the car – honestly it’s kind of adorable. She could see where he’d scratched out “kind of”
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you, and I hope you remember our good times fondly. You’ve shown me so much beauty in the world I’d have walked through completely blind to it and I can’t thank you enough.
I want you to know that these past few weeks with you have been the most MYSELF I can remember being- You bring me back to me.
Remember what you said when you talked about if we somehow got out of this?
Of course she did. “…come find me. Maybe we can get dinner. You can meet the kids.”
I want you to know that if you still wanted that, I would love to actually get to know you. I would love to meet the kids and maybe be a dad to them the best I can.
But also know that I wouldn’t ask you to wait for me. You’re free to live your life as you choose, and you aren’t damned to have me in it forever. I’d be happy for you if you fell in love, got married or whatever because you deserve the best life has to offer and I just want you to be happy and safe.
If we ever got out of this, I’d come find you -Vanessa. If only to catch up or go to therapy sessions if that’s what you wanted.
That was a joke but also…maybe? Had been added in a faster, messier scrawl like he’d begun to ramble on paper.
But if you wanted me to leave, and be out of your life forever I would do that for you.
In this envelope I put together everything you need to prove your story, and name of who to find and give it to. He will take care of you, and any…subsequent…events. “Events” was written with a bit of a lighter hand as if he hadn’t been sure what to say.
Wishing you the best of life, and LUCK,
James.
P.s the device is the controller for your ring. The code to release the band is 865290. I don’t know if it will alert them when it’s removed so don’t do it until you’re about to leave.
Ive been carrying the long box since you got your makeup. I’d suggest you take it before you disappear to prevent surprises later on.
She set the letter down softly and quickly retrieved the little device, eyeing the key to her escape.
The long, rectangular box was revealed to be a drug store pregnancy test.
She wiped her tears and sniffled, chest tight. She lost James, but he was still trying to look out for her.
He was giving her a chance.
She wept for a while longer before biting her quivering lip and heading into the bathroom with the long box.
part one
It all started when,
A newborn infant was forced in his hands as he watched the hospital staff take the dead body away.
Jungkook watched with unshed tears glossing over his brown orbs, his grip unbeknownst to him tightening protectively around the baby. His life had just crumbled right before his tired eyes.
His whole life was ruined in a span of an year.
It was just another night, it was supposed to be just one night of meaningless sex and nothing more.
That woman was a one night stand. She didn’t mean anything to him. He didn’t care about her, hell, he didn’t even know her name.
He was drunk and depressed. Jeongguk was a reckless young man. He only cared about sex and nothing more.
Jungkook still remembered the last five years so clearly, it was like yesterday when he received a call from one of the local hospitals of Seoul.
He still felt the trembling of his legs as he was standing there, his mind was all over the place.
The day that changed his life forever….
The cry from his toddlers mouth broke him out of his trance.
Jungkook tapped on his chin as he watched his son pout, his heart swelled inside his chest as he stared into those familiar bambi eyes of the toddler.
“What’s wrong? Jeon-Seol?” He cooed, softly brushing away the hair as he waited for his son to respond. “Yknow it’s your first day in kindergarten? You should be excited! You’ll get to meet so many kids… you’ll make so many new friends!” Jungkook smiled, wiping away the tears that fell from Jeon-Seol’s eyes.
“D-Daddy I-I don’t wanna go… w-wanna stay with you…” he cried, as he hugged his tiny body to jungkook who was down on one knee. Jeongguk hugged the child back.
Humming a lullaby in order to calm him down, running his hands to soothe his tiny back. “Sweetheart, do not be afraid. You’re so strong and brave aren’t you?” Jungkook whispered to Seol.
The toddler only whined into his fathers neck as he nuzzled closer. “You’re my strong little guy, right?” Jungkook was feeling so excited, his heart was jumpy, a hint of impatience in his tone.
“B-But daddy- hush, jeon-seol.” Jungkook carefully broke the hug as he cradled his sons face in his hands.
“You don’t want to go and spend time with our favourite?” Jungkook couldn’t help himself as he knitted his eyebrows.
“You don’t want to go to ms Y/N?” It was jungkook turn to pout. “Weren’t you telling me the other day how much you missed your mommy?”
The child stopped crying as he stared innocently into Jeongguks eyes.
Not being able to catch the dark glint in his daddy’s eyes. “Y-Yes daddy… I missed ms Y/N…” he confessed, his chubby cheeks huffing.
“I want to go to mommy… just like you said daddy.” He whimpered. Jungkook smiled again. “Daddy?”
Jungkook hummed again.
“When will mommy come to live with us forever?”
Jungkook blinked. His heart fluttering as he took a deep breath.
“Soon, my dear son, soon. I want mommy to come with us too.”
Forget Me Not
Pairing: Loki x reader
Warnings: mentions of injury, sadness, depression, all the angst, very minor death ideation, mentions of memory loss, anger, minor accusations of cheating, mild swearing
Summary: After you left you try your to accept your Loki is gone, you just hope he's happy.
*the response to this was amazing!! It means so much to me that you guys read and share my work, and I'm so glad you like it. So, because I love you all (and with an insurmountable amount of peer pressure lol) I give you........part 2💚💚
Part one Part two-
====================================
It had been three months since you left the tower, since you left your life behind and the pain hadn't lessened. The man you love haunted your mind. Some nights you would dream of you and Loki, cuddled on the couch and you would wake crying, others you would see him and Mellissa from that night in the kitchen, and you wanted to scream, hit something, burn everything. You had everything you ever wanted and it was snatched from you in the blink of an eye.
Last night, it was the latter. You woke up screaming as your sobs racked your body. Could you die from a broken heart? If so you yearned for it, if nothing else so the dreams would finally cease. You climbed out of bed, making your way to the tiny kitchen, pouring a cup of coffee before going out onto the porch. You sat watching the ocean, trying to clear your mind. You had settled on a small island in the middle of nowhere, only you and one small village on the other side. Secluded, peaceful, lonely.
Deep down you hoped Loki was happy, you had no way of knowing, deciding to go off the grid you had no way to contact anyone, it was better that way. You would never be able to love anyone the way you loved Loki, your heart died the day he didn't know who you were, you had become a shell of who you once were. You knew you were alone, and you always would be.
"Loki! Loki wake up!" Melissa half yelled shaking Loki awake "w...what is it love?" He asks rubbing his eyes. "You were saying her name again." She said glaring at him. "Whose name? What are you talking about?" He asked sitting up. "Y/n! You've been saying her name in your sleep for months, what is the deal?" She asked crossing her arms. "Darling, honestly I have no idea, I don't..." he said looking around. "Do you love her?" She asked "i....I don't know. I don't remember her before my accident, just that she took care of me after, and was kind to me." He said sitting against the headboard.
"I can't do this Loki, I can't be with you when your thinking about her." She said getting up. "Darling, please. She's gone now anyway, and Thor said she most likely won't return." He said getting up following her. He grabbed her waist turning her around "I adore you darling, you know that." He said hugging her, she sighed hugging him back. "I'm going to go get coffee." She said, pulling away getting dressed. "I'll be right there love." He called out as she left.
He sat on the bed, his head in his hands. "Why can't I remember you y/n." He sighed sitting up. His dreams had become flashes of you and him, cuddling on the couch, watching TV, making love to you, if they were dreams or memories He wasn't sure. Thor had told him before you left how much you loved eachother, but his mind was blank, nothing of you was there before the accident and now, you were gone and he couldn't even talk to you about it. He ran a hand through his hair, heading towards the kitchen.
The sounds of Melissa laughing drew his attention as he slowly crept to the doorway, seeing her and the soldier, standing very close, smiling at eachother. He was about to walk out when something down the hall caught his attention. "Thor, what are you doing?" He asked walking towards him. "I'm packing up y/n's things. Its been months, I don't believe she is returning." He sighed setting some boxes down. "Do you need help?" He asked "if your up to it, I would appreciate the help, stark wants all of this in storage." Thor said unlocking the door.
He walked in, setting a couple of boxes on the bed looking around. It felt familiar, comfortable. "Ok, I'll start in the closet, you start with the nightstands." Thor said grabbing some clothes packing them. Loki walked to the nightstand on the right, picking up a book of Shakespeare's sonnets, opening the drawer seeing a small dagger, a green blindfold and a picture of the two of you, the ocean behind you both, his arms wrapped around you as you both smiled at the camera. He packed the other things away, still holding the picture. "Thor.." he called out "what is it brother?" He asked coming up next to him.
"Maybe someday we can come here on our honeymoon." He said holding you tighter "we could stay in a cardboard box, as long as I'm with you Loki." You said smiling at him.
The memory flashed to the front of his mind "Thor, was i......" he started as Thor sighed "Yes, that was the trip you told me you were going to propose, you said she was the one." He said pointing at the picture "But it matters not, she is gone." He said going back to the closet. He slipped the picture in his pocket while Thor wasn't watching and continued packing.
He made his way to the desk, emptying the drawers into a box as he started clearing off the top, seeing an envelope with his name on it. He looked up seeing Thor packing the dresser before folding it and putting it in his pocket, he needed answers and you may have left them for him. They finished packing everything, stacking the boxes by the door "let's go have lunch before we move everything to storage yes?" Thor asked patting his shoulder.
They made their way to the kitchen, seeing Melissa was gone he remembered what he saw this morning "I'll be right back brother." He said heading to his room. Not seeing Melissa there either, he headed for the training room, peeking in he saw her and the soldier, sitting on a bench with her legs draped over his lap, her fingers combing through his hair. Loki slowly back out, leaning against the wall sighing before heading back to the kitchen. "What is wrong brother?" Thor asked handing him a sandwich. "I believe my beloved is going behind my back." He sighed sitting down.
"How do you know?" He asked sitting across from him. "I just saw her and the soldier in the training room." He said looking up as Thor nodded "I am sorry Loki, she was never deserving of you If im being honest." Thor said taking a bite as Loki nodded. He went back to his room that night after helping Thor, seeing Melissa packing her things. "What are you doing?" He asked closing the door. "I can't deal with this Loki, I need someone who loves me, not someone else." She said continuing her packing "like the soldier hmm?" He asked sitting in the chair as Melissa stiffened.
"Did you fuck him?" Loki asked glaring at her "you don't have to be so crude." She said crossing her arms. "Well?" He growled "No, I haven't. But he cares about me." She said "gives you attention more likely." He said rolling his eyes. "I'm over this Loki, enjoy being alone." She huffed, grabbing her box "I'll have the rest of your things packed and outside my room, I don't want you back in here." He growled as she got to the door "Oh don't worry, I won't be." She said slamming the door. He got up locking it before settling on the bed, pulling the picture and letter from his pocket, setting them on the nightstand.
He leaned his elbows on his knees, holding his head in his hands "Dammit! Why can't I remember!" He yelled as he felt his seidr pulse through him. He leaned against the headboard picking up the letter, turning it in his hands, hoping you had the answers he seeked.....
[summary] - [reader] gives gwi-nam a stick-n-poke
[content/trigger warning] - needles, cursing, physical affection, gwi-nam ooc
[k-drama] - all of us are dead
"aish— my fucking god! ow— tch!" gwi-nam angrily groaned at the touch of the needle.
"stay still! if you keep fucking squirming, i'll grab this needle and carve a penis on your forehead!" [reader] pinched gwi-nam.
"god damn it, shut the fuck up! i'm trying!" —
...
"oh my god, are— gwi-nam are you.. crying?" [reader] let out a snort.
"I'M NOT CRYING! you just poke like a little whore!" gwi-nam argued.
[reader] let out a fit of laughter, "oh my fucking god— hold on, stay still, say cheese!"
snap!
"YOU BETTER DELETE THAT, YOU LITTLE SHIT!"
gwi-nam attempted to snatch the phone, only to end up face flat on the floor. [reader] cackled, and grabbed gwi-nam by the ear. "okay, okay. i'll maybe delete it later, just sit like a good boy and let me finish your tattoo."
gwi-nam tch'd and rested his head on [reader]'s lap as they finished it.
"y'know, your hair is softer than i thought." [reader] ruffled gwi-nam's hair.
gwi-nam rolled his eyes, though contradicting his attitude, he leaned into their hand.
gwi-nam traced his hand on the [reader]'s tattoos as [reader] finished up the last tiny detail of the tattoo. gwi-nam glanced at the stick n' poke, and looked back at the [reader].
"this looks like dog shit."
"you look like dog shit."
"aish, shut the fuck up."
[reader] grinned, and leaned their head on top of gwi-nam's. gwi-nam grumbled, but squeezed the [reader]'s hand.
"so, about that photo." gwi-nam looked at the [reader] with a murderous glare.
"i deleted it! i pinky-promise." [reader] smiled, just as they said that, gwi-nam heard a ding on his phone.
gwi-nam looked at his phone, and saw one of his bully-friends sent him the photo of him looking like a pussy and crying at the stick n' poke.
"[reader].. i swear i am going to bury you six feet to the fucking ground, unbury you, and chop of your head." gwi-nam clenched his fists.
"ah, toodles! gotta.. help someone w/ homework!" [reader] kissed gwi-nam's cheek and ran away, their stick n' poke kit left at gwi-nam's custody.
"YOU DON'T EVEN DO HOMEWORK! COME HERE YOU FUCKING WHORE!"
God of Romance // Eddie Munson x Y/N
A/N: Just have fun and enjoy!
Pairing: Eddie Munson x gn!reader
Word count: 864
Summary: Eddie decides to make you a little surprise.
WARNINGS: one swear word??
Likes, comments, and reblogs are greatly appreciated. It’s really motivating <3
Eddie Munson was never really a giving-a-gift-to-show-his-love type of person. He'd prefer to make you a breakfast you could enjoy at work or sit on the stairs leading to his trailer, keeping you close and watching the stars while talking about your day. However, today was different. Eddie had it all planned - he skipped the last class, bought you your favorite flowers, and prepared a box of your go-to snacks.
Saying Eddie was proud of himself was an understatement. He thought of himself as a true god of romance, the one that lost souls worshiped and asked for help with their withering love life. Munson felt strong. He felt powerful like he could sweep you off your legs with this little gesture expressing all the feelings from the bottom of his heart. He knew you would melt, seeing him smiling from behind the bouquet of lilies he held in front of him.
When the trailer you two lived in appeared before his eyes, Eddie slowed down his steps. He smoothed his constantly ruffled curls, cleared his throat a few times, and took a last glance at the flowers. Everything was perfect. And just when he was about to knock on the door, he heard your voice.
"F-fuck..." You gasped out, almost shakily. Confusion was painted on Eddie's face until he heard another voice. Male.
"Keep going, darling. Don't slow down."
Millions of thoughts ran through Eddie's head, elbowing their way, outshouting one another. He felt his heart sinking, and the love that kept it in place for so long now was too weak to hold it in. He wasn't sure if he wanted to scream or cry. Was he mad or just disappointed? Was your love just a simple lie? Only a few hours ago, you said goodbye to him before he left for school, giving him the happiest smile you could and sending lots of kisses before he disappeared.
Eddie wasn't sure if he should step in or wait till the man left his trailer. It was when he heard you say, "I can't hold it!" that he decided to stop it all. Still keeping his gift in his hands, he barged into the trailer.
"How could you-"
"Eddie!?" That was all he heard from you before you collapsed on the floor, hitting your forehead on the ground. Eddie looked around, his heart pounding in his chest, but all he saw was... a pilates mat?
"Good job! You're doing great!" The man in the video that played on your tiny TV said, giving his thumbs up to the audience.
"W-what is going on?"
You sighed deeply, getting up on your knees and stopping the tape. "As you can see, I am working out... Why are you looking so pale? Are you okay?" You stood up, your legs shaking from all the exercises you did in the last half an hour.
"N-no, it's just... I have a gift for you." Eddie reached out his trembling hands. He couldn't believe how stupid he was to actually think you'd cheat on him. He felt this big wave of embarrassment washing him from the tip of his head down to his toes, making him look like a ripe tomato.
"Oh, Eddie. That's so cute." Your voice went higher as you'd never expected to get such a gift from him. "Is there any occasion?"
"N-no... Just wanted to express my love for you, hehe..." He tried to avoid your sight, but you knew him too well to fall for his little lies.
"Okay, love. What is going on?" You put the box and the bouquet aside and took a few steps closer to him. "Is it because I'm working out? I know, I should've told you... There's no need to hide, and yet I felt a little bit-"
"No, no. Sweetheart, that's not it." Eddie shook his head hastily. All this hair smoothening went to waste. "I- I'm so stupid."
"Why?"
"I- I can't believe I'm saying this..." He took a deep breath. "When I heard this male voice, I thought-" No, he couldn't say that. It was, in fact, very stupid of him to think. It would show he had no trust in you, but that wasn't true. And yet, if he said it out loud, it would look like that.
"You thought I was cheating on you, right?" You chuckled, more amused than actually mad. Oh boy, he was adorable. "Baby, I won't lie. You are a little stupid to even think of it. But take a look." You grabbed his hand and pulled him in front of the TV screen. "Do you see him? He is not metal at all, and you, Eddie, are the only one in my type."
Munson didn't say a word. Maybe he acted a little dumb, but he was relieved you didn't get mad at him and turned everything into a joke. Because, in the end, Y/N Y/L/N would always choose him over anyone else, and he knew that, but sometimes he needed a little reminder.
"Now, let me put these flowers into the vase, and then we can eat these snacks on the stairs, my sweet, silly boy."
🦷: Okayy but daddy Iwa leaving his baby with mattsun while he’s gone like bo does and mattsun taking such good care of iwa’s little girl,,and if mattsun can’t Iwa will reluctantly leave her w makki who’s so much meaner 🥺🥺
— dom! matsukawa + sub space + teasing + mentions of pain + predator/prey dynamics + slight hair pulling + mentions of fear + masochist reader + size kink + dacryphilia + big dick + heavy breath play + choking + praise + creampie + petname (bunny) + f! reader
he looked her over, unable to stop the smirk from forming. shy eyes made his chest swell in a primal swirl of lust. already so sweet for him, and he hadn’t even touched her yet.
“y/n.”
“hm?” your voice answered back in a small hum, cute and shy. he couldn’t help but let a shiver crawl up his back at the thought of how you’d sound broken and whining just like that for him.
but he was being too forward, no wonder why iwaizumi had asked to leave you in his care- you were dangerously alluring.
you were here to be taken care of, and what he wanted might not match up to what you wanted, he’d test the waters first.
grabbing your hand gently, making sure to not startle you all too bad- letting you know it was okay, there was nothing to be embarrassed or shy about; the plan was set out, in detail- by hajime.
the thought of leaving you alone while he joined his team out of the country wasn't something he liked to entertain- you were supposed to be taken care of at all times, even when he couldn't. that's why this arrangement was drawn up. it was something mattsun could do.
he led you to his room, motioning to where the bathroom, kitchen- where all the necessities were. his house was small; enough for him and now for you, it was where you would be staying at… and you were grateful.
“its not much… but its comfortable.” the tone and smoothness of his voice eased you further- the slowly oscillating timbre of notes made you melt.
you nodded, smiling a little, bending your head in appreciation.
it squeezed at his heart, the way you were so polite and kind, a sweet little thing he couldn’t believe belonged to iwaizumi.
it made sense, you’d made the comment on how you liked men that could protect, men who would put you on your knees by just a look… and he so deeply hoped he fit that criteria.
in private, you knew he was- he was tall and big, taller than your hajime, maybe not as thick, not as built, but his presence still made your knees shake.
you let yourself watch him from the corner of your eyes, watching him walk forward, settling down the bag he’d taken from you on his bed… in all honesty, you’d seen his couch- and someone as big as him would not have a pleasant time sleeping on it… but you didn't know where he was going to draw the line.
you’d hope he’d stay, hope he’d cuddle you and make you feel good… sleeping alone was not familiar to you.
being alone was an ugly thought, it was exhausting and horrible. being spoiled made you greedy and needy- all in one. a pretty thing iwa was proud of, always showing you off.
you needed someone, and you wholly agreed to be pretty and good for issei.
okay bunny.” he sighed, sitting down at the edge of the bed, looking at you.
the petname sent little prickles of heat down your back, making you dizzy and complaint, it triggered a nice and comfy haze clouding your mind.
“time for bed?” he asked, watching the slow blink of your eyes, chest rising and falling slowly- slipping into that sweet headspace.
oh…
iwaizumi really had you trained well.
he was going to have so much fun with you.
“what do you want, pretty girl.” issei questioned, leaning forwards elbows on his thighs; looking at you like a good meal, something he was very eagerly waiting to take a bite out of- lower lip glistening with saliva as he passed his thick tongue over it.
it made you take a step forward, a pretty bunny falling right into the claws of something big and mean- being devoured came easiest for you.
“take care of me.” you whispered, placing two shaky hands on his shoulders. broad frame, nice and sturdy, warm and strong. everything a little bunny like you needed for security.
his lips curled into a pleasant smile, canines glistening under the light of his room, smirking at your sweet words.
“ah- you want me to take care of you?” mattsun’s voice was laced with inquisition, wanting to hear another note of confirmation.
“yes please. haji said you would.” you responded, pouting at the slight teasing, but quickly warming up when those hands of his wrapped around your sides. it felt real easy, tugging you onto his lap.
“oh, bunny i will.” he assured, thinking over his next words.
“i just… you know the difference between me and iwaizumi… right?” there was small apprehension, felt like he was trying to piece together words that wouldn’t scare you off. shaking your head slightly, they did everything but that- luring you in with the promise of something dangerous, something exciting.
it was really cute- he could hear your heart pound from where he was, watching your face scrunch up, leaning into him.
“if you want me to take care of you, i need to let you know- i’m a lot bigger than him.” matsukawa huffed, sliding the hold on your sides down to your hips, groaning at the warmth and softness molding under his palms.
“and i dont fuck like he does.”
the smooth timbre of his voice turned gravely, growling out those last few words, bringing your body to his- entrapping you in all of him. he let himself grace your neck, lips just barely touching- letting you back away at the challenge.
but you were a greedy thing, the small hint of danger electrifying every nerve in your body. thighs jumping around his lap, squirming.
he says it like a warning, but all it does is excite you. the promise of him fucking you doenst let you focus on anything else.
mattsun feels your squirming, sees the way you bite at your lips, pupils dilating as you watch him, wide eyes roaming his face.
he's the one who starts the grind, tightening the hold, shifting to sit back slightly; pushing you against the length already hard and heavy in his pants.
this is his favorite part, seeing the surprise- eagerly watching for the look of pure shock. maybe you're finally feeling the heavy severity of the situation, maybe it's a jolt of arousal that makes your eyes shake, lips parting in amazement at being sat on his big cock.
whichever one it is, it makes your head tip back, huffing out a tiny noise of surprise and want.
it feels so big, even now, just sat on his cock through his. pants and your bottoms and it's all just so-
“oh!”
throbbing cunt passing over a ridge, catching over your puffy clit, knowing it's the swell of his cockhead. it makes you weak, tipping forward, tugging at his shirt.
issei chuckles in response, warm hand traveling up your back, curling against your head. there's a tiny moment of reprieve- sits there, watching your shoulders tense up before he tugs.
it's gentle at first, admiring how you shape yourself perfectly for him, going limp as soon as he does, but just like you- he's a greedy man and pulls- back bowing against him. with clenched teeth at how you squirm, he hisses;
“what is it bunny?” what's got you makin’ those pretty sounds?”
there's already tears forming against your lashes, the feeling of your cunt freely gliding against the pool of arousal lying wetly right on your panties makes everything that more… exciting. if he's able to bring you to this state by just tugging at your hair… the thought makes you desperate or what else he could do to you.
“you! it's you ‘sei! don't want you to tease- take. care. of. me.” you mewl, exasperated at his actions.
he's so close- you can feel his cock pulse under him, and you want nothing more than to be split open.
but your sweet little tantrum simply makes him laugh, bringing your throat to his mouth, teeth grazing sweetly against the thrum of your pulse.
“little bunny… you’ve got some fight, hm?” he whispers, letting you go with a quick little bite- a reminder, something to let you know to calm yourself.
usually he’d take his time- reduce you into a mess of cum and tears and spit until you’re crying out for him, and even then he wouldn’t give you what you wanted. however, issei would play nice for now, knowing your little outburst was all due to the want for him. it made his heart thump loudly against his ribs.
“it’s okay- i’ll fuck it out of you.” mattsun groans.
you tense up at his words- the throbbing against the spot where he nipped keeping a heavy reminder, impatience didn't look pretty on you.
he lets a hand leave the warmth of your hips, thumb digging into the side of your cheek impatiently, keeping your head tilted to look at him- the tension in your scalp lessens and you're aware of the direction his other hand is traveling.
the sound of his belt clinking, button popping open, and zipper falling makes you squeak. whole body lighting up, pressing your cunt right against the hand working to release him from his pants.
“please!”
the word slips from your lips involuntarily, and once again, he lets the slip up go. there would be time to teach you to wait, to earn what he gives you.
using the grip he already has on your face, he picks you up, a show of strength tugging you up by your face to give his cock room to be released. your knees shakily hit either side of the bed around his body, hips tipping forward- giving him space, but even then, you feel the tip of his cock brush against your pussy.
a high, shaky sound of air leaving your lungs in a shocked whimper makes his cock jump heavily- your hands landing by your face as you stare, chest heaving- weight of his hand falls from your face, down to your neck, pressing you deep into the bed.
the thrum of fear peaks once more, exaggerating another gush of arousal, this time running down your ass- no longer caught by your panties.
“pretty.” is all he says, squeezing once, watching your legs jump. his thumb swipes up against your cheek to catch a stray tear. he wants to make a remark about your skittish muscles, working against you to tense up with every movement he makes, but the heavy lust burning in his stomach doesn't let him.
“breathe in for me- it’ll hurt less if you do.”
there’s sick pleasure watching you nod, so eager to do what he says just to be hurt in order to take him all. he wastes no time in order to tug your bottoms off, impatiently working with only one hand, all while he keeps his eyes on your face. its all a frenzy of want.
he wanted to take you like an animal, wanted to make it hurt- wanted to break your soft mind, but he resists. it’ll be fine for now, the time to play how he wants could happen at a later time.
the head of his cock meets heavy resistance, slickened by the never ending stream of arousal leaking out of your wanting hole- it makes it a little more bearable. you such in a breath, just like he says, tongue heavy with the weight of it playing against your cunt.
he was right, he was right and now your heart beat loudly in your chest at the feeling of him pressing in more and more- he was bigger than your hajime, and it hurt.
it hurt so good.
“m-more!” you gasp, impatiently waiting with the slow pace he's taking you. hands clawing at the hand still wrapped firmly around your throat, legs thumping over and over on either side of him.
it takes him back, gasping at the slight tilt of your hips seeking more of him, his eyebrows pinch together in amusement and surprise.
you were proving to be more of a challenge than he thought- but he did as he was told for now, shifting down to really pin you.
“pretty girl, so dirty- you keep surprisin’ me.” he grunts, watching your body lie pliant, mouth hanging open in a desperate and now silent plea.
he counts to three before lessening up, blinking at the way you shoot up to take a heavy gulp of air.
“good bunny.” he seethes, trying to keep up with your greedy cunt, fluttering around him as he pushes in and in and in.
its so good, nails digging into the arm still trapping your upper body down onto the bed, drooling as your tongue lulls out.
you’re hot and wound up, pooling sweat dripping down against your clothes, smushed against his mattress.
the first slam of his hips inside makes you sob, eyes fluttering shut at the feeling of all the tension leaving your body, a reaction to being fucked so hard. you can feel him make a noise of appreciation at that, pushing his weight- using it to fuck you down onto the bed.
“so good- such a greedy pussy, only satisfied when it's being pounded like this- hm?”
issei emphasizes his words with an increasing tempo, barely giving himself time to breathe, drunk on your cunt- the pretty sounds you're making, the way your eyes have rolled to the back of your head, small hands no longer grabbing at his wrist.
you're creaming around him, already cuming at just mintues of being given what you so desperately begged for.
“issei! ‘sei!”
it sounds so pretty leaving your mouth in this breathy pitch and it's getting to him, the building orgasm crawling towards him at a rapid pace.
he releases the hold on your neck to grab desperately at your hips, arching your back against him while you jolt, body receiving the shock of his pistoning hips- slapping heavily onto your thighs, mixing with the loud squelch and squeal singing from your body.
you can’t will your muscles to contract any longer, already cuming once more at the change in position, weakly crying out his name- sweet and fucked out, babbling the consonants of his name over and over again.
“good girl- c-cuming so pretty for me.” he pants, teeth clashing together as he pushes past the resistance of your walls once more, sheathing his cock inside in a final attempt to make it hurt. he knows he’s successful when you lift up off the bed, choking out a warbling scream.
his body seizes, matching the feverish way you’re spasming around his body.
the heated, spurt of cum inside your cunt comes in thick ropes and you exhale in response, turning your head left to right as you receive it all- take it all in your battered, swollen walls.
he stays right where he stops, head hooked down, eyes looking at the cream of cum splattered on the stretched out lips of your cunt.
“fuck.” he gasps, slowly coming back from the overwhelming burst of pleasure.
“are you okay?” matsukawa asks, eyes softening at the way you slowly open your eyes, blinking hot tears from your lashes.
you cant respond verbally just yet, giving him a nod, a small tilt of your head before dropping your legs- finally relaxing.
he sees why you need this every night, you're glowing- covered in sweat and a sweet smile playing at your lips.
“so good- thank you issei.” you sing, already ready to sleep- and with the almost devious curl of your lips, he swears you- the sweet bunny he brought into his home was more predator than prey.
“play with me some more... later- please.” you hum, shivering at the globs of cum cooling against your stretched cunt, all before you sigh and close your eyes, looking for that sweet sleep.
matsukawa stays up a bit later, giving iwaizumi a quick text- asking if you would ever truly be satisfied, and the response he gets sends a prickle of heat curling against his neck-
fuck her unconscious or else she’ll keep wanting more.
TWO SHORT ANAKIN SKYWALKER BLURBS
The young padawan sat in the co-pilot's chair fiddling with the small crystal she had slipped into the pockets of his robe before he left for the mission. The black rock was small, he only noticed a few hours prior when he was searching his pockets for some headphones, wanting to drift off to some music while the ship was cruising through space on route to get back to the temple.
He was confused, how did this get here? He didn’t remember putting a rock in his pocket this time as he had done before giving his tiny findings to her. Anakin and his master had just left one of the most gassiest planets out in the entire solar system so there was no way the black gem had even come from the planet they were just at.
It was only when Obi-Wan saw his padawan be so engrossed in the small rock he asked what it was. Anakin shrugged, holding it up, “A rock.”
Obi-Wan scuffed sitting in the pilot's seat, and held out his hand. When Anakin handed it over Obi-wan looked at it more closely. “It seems to be black tourmaline. Some people use it to help with protection against negative energy and stress.” He explained handing it back. “Tell Y/n it must have worked from what we just came out of.” Obi-wan finished, turning his attention to the book in his hands.
Anakin smiled. “It’s not from her.” he lied. He looked at the vastness of space in front of him and then back at the rock wondering how he managed to get lucky enough to fall in love with Y/n, but to have her sneak him crystals on mission so he would be safe.
“I could get you something like flowers if you want?” Anakin asked his girlfriend while she was focused on entering data onto the holopad in her hands. Visiting her at her job wasn’t the best time to indulge in small conversations, but the young doctor in training gave the clumsy boy the perfect excuse to visit her. “I’m sure I can grab a few before I go and ya know, be the strongest jedi in the galaxy.” He bragged which made her laugh.
“I want you to come back alive.” She told him to set the device down and turn her chair to face Anakin who sat on the examining bed.
“I always do.”
“Last time you came back without an arm.” Y/n snarked back. “Do you know how freaked out I was? I was expecting hugs and maybe dinner but you came off that ship in a stretcher Anakin. Just be careful okay?”
“Okay my love,” He said, pushing himself off and walking over to the door with you. “And its your turn for dinner actually.” He joked pulling her into a soft hug before being playfully pushed out of the room.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What’s wrong Anakin?” Y/n tried to calm her boyfriend down who was currently pacing the apartment they shared crying, basically hyperventilating. From what she had so far gathered, the council meeting didn’t go well. The mission Anakin went on had been anything but successful and she knew that Mace Widnu had no problem taking digs at the Jedi knight. “I can’t help you if you don't talk to me, honey.” She told him, putting a hand on his shoulder to keep him from moving.
“W-we need to do it-t.” Anakin cried, desperately looking in her eyes. “We should leave and never come back.” He sob at the end shook his body enough for him to almost collapse, lucky enough her arms had moved to his waist allowing her body to support the crying man. “We need to run away. I don’t want this anymore.”
The idea of running away was a dream they both shared. Getting away from the temple and having a life of their own, together of course, was a common conversation they had. Nights where sleep was restless or if one of them would have a nightmare the sweet dreams of not having to live by the jedi boundaries was an escape. One would think they had it all figured out due to how detailed they would get. The couple would talk about the house they were going to live in, how many bedrooms they need, one or two levels. Where they would work, Anakin would get a job at a maintenance shop, fixing up ships or droids that needed work and she would open up a small bakery, Anakin would always tell her that he would get everything for free.
“It’d be the boyfriend discount, and since I am the only boyfriend it only applies to me,” he joked once, making her laugh.
They even talked about what ship they would take when they made their great escape, what planets they would need to stop at to throw off anyone who might be on their trail. Anakin would pilot much to her disapproval. “What's our better option? I know you don’t know how to fly angel, and I am the best pilot in the entire galaxy.”
“Are you sure?” Y/n asked, running away was a lot. No more talking to friends, or any type of communication with the people they knew for years upon years.
Anakin nodded, taking in a deep breath and standing up straight. “Please, Y/n. I want this. I want you.” He begged her. “I want to marry you not in some bullshit private wedding, in front of family and friends. Maybe even then we could start our own family, we just- not here. We can’t have that here and I’m tired of waiting.”
“Okay,” Y/n whispered, Anakin’s confidence about eloping growing on to her. “Yes. I’ll run away with you.”
“That’s all I need to hear.” He responded before kissing her, knowing this now was the start of their lifetime together.
