Queen’s 1982 album Hot Space takes the sound in a very different direction, which is a little jarring at first, but grows on you quickly. There’s a bit of a funky vibe, but it’s far more driven by the 80s new wave synth and glam sounds than anything else, and it’s just so upbeat. At times it feels like the score to a buddy cop movie, and that’s fantastic best advice I can give is to approach it without expectation, and really experience it as a stand-alone. Highlight tracks include Staying Power, Back Chat, Calling All Girls, Las Palabras De Amor, and Under Pressure (with David Bowie). Available on iTunes and Spotify.
