The death of a woman who fell from Ohio Stadium during Ohio State University's spring commencement on Sunday is being investigated as an "apparent suicide" by the Franklin County Coroner's Office, preliminary reports reviewed by The Dispatch show. Larissa Brady, 53, of Woodstock, Georgia, north of Marietta, was pronounced dead at 12:25 p.m. Sunday at the scene outside Ohio Stadium by Columbus firefighters, the coroner's office reported Tuesday. então, tô abrindo muita coisa minha aqui pra explicar oq fundamentou todo o processo de composição de 2021 pra cá, com a ideia de HOREBE e tudo mais.

HOREBE, na época veio muito com a intenção de sistematizar dentro de mim as questões sobre amor, quem eu sou e tudo mais, como se fosse de fato uma defesa da fé. ACHEI UMA FOTO AQUI DO MEU DIÁRIO AHAHAHHAAH - comecou com isso daqui ó

mas o processo era bem mais em baixo, acredito eu. Nesse limbo de me sentir a ovelhinha desgarrada (e de fato estar), eu parei bastante com a música, encostei num cantinho mas não parei 100%

ENFIM, PESOU O CLIMA NÉ?

sobre música e carreira: no caminho descobri a larissa e aprendi umas fitas mutcho boas sobre posicionamento de carreira e arquétipos que levo até hj - ela é braba.

no caminho a Gabi foi me ajudando a me encontrar esteticamente, mesmo que indiretamente... sei que os buxudos (grupo das meninas da faculdade) foi um ambiente de muita autenticidade e pude me remodelar muitas e várias vezes lá, amo vcs meninas

aleatório, mas:

uma das coisas que não falei aqui é que nesse processo de querer fazer música no """"gospel"""" acabei pesquisando muita coisa antiga e boa (descobri VPC, JOÃO ALEXANDRE, ELO, BANDA AZUL) e a possibilidade bateu na porta quando LITERALMENTE do lado de casa teve um show do jão alexandre hehe

depois dos altos e baixos relacionais, emocionais e afins voltei a produzir lá pra setembro e comecei a ler Carlos Nejar

escrevi na época MEMORANDO, dedicado a minha irmã, quando estávamos lá em Presidente Prudente hehe. Mas ainda tava receoso com a parada da música:

AAAH, e nesse miolinho o álbum: A TRILHA DE VOLTA do tiago arrais me bateu tão firme e com tanto carinho que chorei na primeira vez ouvindo no onibus indo pra faculdadekkk

bem como PRISMA, o EP da Karla me bateu tbm, e falou de possibilidade e beleza estética na produção (fiz até um texto no meu MEDIUM sobre isso)

nesse mesmo ano do meu colapso foi eleição né? mas vamos deixar baixo

nesse processo todo, tava lapidando o EP/ALBO refazendo algumas músicas... lembro do samuel palmeira dando feedback em uma que eu escrevi e eu fiquei, é vdd né? e fui refazer (e ficou melhor mesmo)

nesse meio tempo comecei a trabalhar em um bar de jogos perto da faculdade pra levantar um cascalho pra produzir e outras coisas (sobreviver no bairro mais caro de Campinas; fonte = DATA EU).

na vontade de tirar o EP do papel, em outubro, tava botando muita fé em DURANTE, a famosa: crescer dói, e o pessoal da minha REP tbm.

até que veio o FerFilho fazer os teclado pra mim e ficou lindo; Rapha Spiller na guita e Dani no violãozinho -> aí tivemos a primeira versão repaginada de Durante, lembro de ter um insight ouvindo kirk franklin e foi que foi.

GENTE NÃO IRONICAMENTE, eu tava botando tanta fé no OANNM que eu fiz uma oficina de máscaras kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, foi legal na época, mas flopou esse projeto meu (grazadeus, imagina eu de máscara por ai)

nessa época ACHO que já tava me resolvendo com meus dilemas, e aí fui meter marcha na ideia do meu projeto HOREBE

queria que fosse um projeto visual, todo amarradinho, mas não tinha noção de quanto ia gastar (tadinho), só queria cospir isso.

As músicas já estavam todas definidas quase, tinha uma intro conceito, tinha tudo, pasta no pinterest, só tinha que tirar do papel (mas ficou em parte no papel - e que bom - pq só tiramos oq precisava)

ai não sei como tbm, tivemos a ideia de fazer o show e gravar- e rolou até, mas tive que decidir um setlist de autorais e covers (LEMBREI VENDO FOTO KKK) - teve uma vez que mostrei pra Syra, uma amiga minha, minhas músicas de voz e violão. Ela simplesmente amou e me encorajou a fazer um showzinho pequeno pra mostrar pros amigos, APOIS Paulinha e Cezinha pegaram minha mão e me ajudaram demaissss.

deu certo no final, A COISA MAIS ENGRAÇADA É, que nenhuma dessas músicas foram pro projeto novo (atual) hahahaha

no briefing pro show usei o UMZÉ pela primeira vez, foi nessa reunião de planejamento pro SHOW DA CÉU que a paulinha, wilson e céza me fizeram trocar de nome (e deu bom - após muitas orações pra acalmar)

no finalzinho do ano criei a berean critique - pra trazermos o ar da crítica musical e teológica a música cristã brasileira (mas flopou no começo desse anokkk - e tá tudo bem)

no finar do ano fui numa loja de vinil linda com minhazamiga e descolori meu cabelo

eu fiquei falando até agora sobre possibilidade e não parei pra pensar que ffiquei igual aquele vídeo do cultura livre por bala desejo kkkkkkkkkkkk

I’m an Aussie librarian so I thought I’d add on a few recs too - a lot of these I haven’t read myself but they’re popular/recommended in my library. I’ve tried to include a mix of genres and also a number of indigenous authors.

The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams - Esme is born into a world of words. Motherless and irrepressibly curious, she spends her childhood in the ‘Scriptorium’, a garden shed in Oxford where her father and a team of dedicated lexicographers are collecting words for the very first Oxford English Dictionary. Jane Harper has a bunch of crime novels if that’s your thing. The Dry is maybe the most recognisable because it was adapted into a movie a couple of years ago.

I know you’re the local YA and OzYA expert here on tumblr, but I was wondering if you’d have NA or adult fiction recs too from Australian authors? so, fun fact, but NA isn't really a thing here! Australian YA as a demographic tends to encapsulate stories set at university age as well as just high school. mostly 'cause we're a smaller market so divvying things up too much gets a bit laborious and makes it trickier for publishers and booksellers to market things

I do know a few books featuring characters in their late teens/early 20s but as for adult fiction recs, I'm not sure. I don't think I've ever read adult Australian fiction 😂 maybe someone else can chime in with some recs?

but for not-quite-NA recs, I'd suggest looking for:

Libby Lawrence is Good at Pretending by Jodi McAlister - a girl gets involved with her uni's theatre club and finds herself dragged into all the drama that that entails

this weekend

was definitely the closest thing i’ve had to a normal weekend since march. 

we celebrated emma’s birthday on thursday, at the wine bar in clinton hill where i had my birthday party last year. it was just the three of us, me, emma, and kate, and nobody else was even there at the bar, really. just three idiots drinking three bottles of wine and impulse-buying tickets for opening weekend at the bronx zoo. 

here is the thursday night look, along with my dumb little susan alexandra bag i bought last week:

friday i mostly slept off my hangover and felt horrible and anxious all day and then daniel and i watched palm springs, which i honestly had low expectations for, but it was exactly what i wanted it to be: short, aesthetically pleasing, just the right amount of cynical time-traveling andy samberg, soundtrack featuring kate bush. 

on saturday kate and i made cupcakes for emma (chocolate cupcakes with a rosemary buttercream) and carried them over to golda so i could buy a bottle of wine for emma (the same wine that i paid [redacted dollar amount] for at petra at kate’s birthday in january) and overheard the co-owner of a franklin ave bar we really liked make a very unseemly comment about a Black woman walking by the bar who was saying something about BLM and police brutality. this bar, which sits on a heavily gentrified street in bed stuy, has not made any sort of public comment about the police brutality and BLM movements. we had a long discussion about how to handle what we heard—we kind of couldn’t believe that the co-owner felt so comfortable saying something like that in front of a bunch of strangers—but ultimately we decided to handle it privately, and kate ended up writing an email to the bar about it today.

emma’s park picnic for her birthday was perfect—friends all showed up, and even my sister and her roommate stopped by. we drank orange wine and pet jaz and gabe’s dog moose and absolutely did not come into close physical contact with anyone. eventually i left the park with a friend i hadn’t seen in months and we walked back towards fort greene and caught each other up on our lives, which was so nice.

i started “seeing” “someone” last month and instead of doing our usual thing of bar-hopping and getting to-go drinks and food last night when it was 300 degrees outside we hung out in his air conditioned apartment and drank two bottles of natural wine and pet his cat and ordered thai food and watched most of a full season of entourage, which is all i would want from someone during normal, non-pandemic times anyway. 

today i did some work in the morning and then went to wegmans with larissa. that grocery store absolutely sucks—it’s like 65% instacart shoppers and nothing is in stock and the store is too crowded with people in a way that makes me feel so uncomfortable so everyone there, shopping for themselves or for others, are all just sort of vultures circling the charcuterie display—and it is only my wegmans brand loyalty that keeps me coming back. then i came home and napped and watched five episodes of i may destroy you, which has, appropriately, destroyed me.

it’s very hard not to have a weekend like the one that’s currently slipping through my fingers and be like “better enjoy it, this is as good as it’s going to get this year! remember this when you’re spending all day inside in december again!” i talk about this literally every week with my therapist, who assures me that she is talking about this with all of her other clients too. tomorrow i’ll go to work and stay inside all day and not get my steps in or see anyone, but i needed a weekend like this to remind me that not everything has irreversibly changed this year.
