People keep villainizing Zhongli for using Childe to test Liyue to see if they could move forward without him and woobie-fying Childe as if he didn’t deliberately endanger the lives of innocent citizens and risking drowning Liyue Harbor by releasing Osial himself just to try to draw out Rex Lapis to steal his Gnosis.
Legit, he was like: “This could put innocent people in danger, BUT I’LL DO IT ANYWAY!”
^^ EXACTLY.
I always find it a bit funny that people make Childe upset because he was "betrayed" by Zhongli when Childe hired Zhongli to get all info of his God from him so he could steal his Gnosis and then used him and his occupation to try and do it.
They both used one another, Childe just didn't come out on top. But because he was more expressive in his anger about being used, it's become the fandoms go to when it comes to woobifying him.
"Childe's upset that their friendship was fake!" but never is it Zhongli questioning if Childe viewed their friendship as real because he was hired by him to tell him the secrets of his God. No, it's always Childe who is angry and upset even though he almost drowned a nation for his goals.
Let's have Zhongli who is conflicted over Childe for a change! Zhongli who partially didn't want Childe to go through with his plans because he cared more about Zhongli and Liyue! Let's have Childe face the consequences of his actions without just blaming it on Zhongli!
I think people have forgotten that Childe is a villain and a really good one at that. His loyalty to the Tsaritsa and her mission made him go against his own morals (as he does say he doesn't like to involve the weak) to draw out Rex Lapis. Yes, it was a test and Liyue was never in any real danger but CHILDE DIDN'T KNOW THAT. Childe was ready to have blood on his hands, to sacrifice anyone he had come to care about in Liyue, for the Tsaritsa, and it's never addressed enough.
There is so much you can explore with the Archon quest but it seems that everyone in fandom just likes to go "Childe is upset for being used and now Zhongli has to grovel for his forgiveness" and I really hate it.
Childe, I'm so sorry, you're such a complex and interesting character but fandom just likes to reduce you down to innocent family man T-T

Wha- WAIT!! you have an MLB Dr Stone au?? That's so freaking cool!! Give us some snippets!! Who's ladybug? Cat noir? Will senku get piercings? (Sorry this is me projecting lol) tell meeee...
Well two days ago I was scrolling through some mlb (btw I always read that as Major League Baseball it’s a legit problem) reblogs by my mutuals (two of them are pretty into MLB and one of them recently did a ranking of all the villains), and even though I haven’t watched any of the episodes, I was like lmao what if superhero (I like the concept of kwamis and superheroes).
Also I was literally writing Episode 1 when I decided to check my tumblr lmao, should I try not to spoil it? Ok here’s an idea - I’ll give the whole Episode 1 summary under the cut, but above the cut will be the “pitch” I wrote for it. (For all of my fanfics, I write a short pitch at the top of the planning document labeled PREMISE, which I usually later use for the summary in ao3)
Ogawa Yuzuriha is a mild mannered 15 year old girl in her first year of high school with aspirations of being a fashion designer, when one day she meets a tiny red creature named Tikki who wants her to be a superhero! As Carmine, Yuzuriha must rise up to be the protector of Tokyo alongside her new partner, a mysterious yet caustically witty boy her age called Kurodora who seems...familiar, somehow. Together the two of them will defend Tokyo from the villainous machinations of the enigmatic Sphinxmoth. Can Yuzuriha find a way to balance the duties of a superhero and a high school social life? Find out in Miraculous: Adventures of Carmine and Kurodora!
SEASON 1 EPISODE 1: Origins (alternatively titled Lioness)
On the first day of school in April 2019, in the city of Tokyo, Japan, Yuzuriha rushes to meet Taiju and Senku at the train station so they can commute together like they always have. Except while she’s on the way there, she spots an elderly man who has fallen down at the side of the road, and stops to help him up, even offering to call an ambulance if he’s seriously hurt. The old man simply thanks her and tells her she should probably get to school, and as Yuzuriha walks away, he smiles after her.
Yuzuriha catches up to Taiju at the train station - apparently Senku is running late on the first day of school. They’re not surprised - Senku does have a bit of a reputation for staying awake long past the time he ought to be asleep (mood, Senku. Mood).
What they don’t know is that Senku is actually only a few blocks away - in fact, he’s just stopped an elderly man from walking directly into the street! After angrily asking if the old geezer is losing it, Senku waits with the man and despite being a little abrasive about it helps him cross the street when it’s safe (fun fact apparently Japanese crossing lights play the tune to a children’s nursery rhyme when it’s safe to cross go google it). The old man thanks him and says to himself, “A little rough around the edges, but I think he’ll do fine.”
Luckily Senku manages to catch the train just as the door closes, with both Taiju and Yuzuriha gently admonishing him for not learning his lesson about staying up too late in middle school. They make it to school, where they meet their homeroom class for the first time. In their class, we meet Hoseki Kohaku and Shizaki Chrome (workshopping these names rn), as well as Takara Amaryllis, who just moved into town.
Kohaku is recognized as the sister of Hoseki Ruri, the most beautiful girl in school. This becomes a problem when later Kohaku spots school brute Magma forcefully asking her sister out, while also gifting her a pretty lapis lazuli pendant. Kohaku confronts her sister and Ruri admits that Magma has been hounding her to go out with him for a while now, and she hasn’t reported his harassment to the teachers out of fear. Magma steps in and tries to push Kohaku away, causing the spirited girl to attract an oddly colored butterfly floating nearby...
After lunch, Yuzuriha’s class is just chilling waiting for the next period to start when suddenly there’s a huge commotion and a bunch of people start screaming. Loudly. A young woman in an amber colored outfit with a fluffy boa around her neck is holding Magma hostage, and seems to be taking him down the street, leaving a path of destruction in her wake and police cars chasing after her.
Students start freaking out, and in the chaos Yuzuriha, Taiju, and Senku get separated despite their best efforts to stick together. Taiju ends up going into the bathroom to call his grandparents and make sure they’re safe, while Senku runs to the roof to get a better view of the situation and Yuzuriha finds herself hiding in the school library.
As Yuzuriha tries to gather her thoughts and begins to text Senku and Taiju in their groupchat to ask where they are, she notices a box sitting on the table next to her that definitely wasn’t there before. Curiosity gets the better of her and she opens it, of course.
Out pops Tikki! Yuzuriha momentarily freaks out before Tikki manages to explain a few things about the situation. Unfortunately however, when Yuzuriha says “I can’t be a superhero! I don’t have time to change into a suit or learn how to fight or anything!” Tikki replies with a placating, “Oh don’t worry it’s easy! You just have to say ‘spots on’ and-” “Spots on?” “WAIT I DIDN’T FINISH-”
Thus Yuzuriha is left transformed in the school library without the detransformation phrase and armed only with the knowledge that: 1. Tikki is a “kwami” from the Ladybug Miraculous; 2. The Miraculous will give her the power to stop the villain rampaging outside. 3. She will be paired with the chosen wielder of the Black Cat Miraculous. Her outfit is a very fashionable looking red jacket over a black long sleeve shirt and leggings, with a red skirt decorated with black spots, and black boots and gloves. The final adornment is a spotted headband that takes the place of the white one she wears normally. [also, she’ll get a new, cooler outfit in season 2, because I like the concept of evolving outfits that reflect character growth].
After falling out of the library window in an attempt to get out without being seen Yuzuriha discovers her enhanced physical abilities and takes a few experimental leaps across buildings before trying to locate the villain. Luckily for her, she actually starts to get the hang of it - right before a boy dressed in all black crashes right into her from behind screaming bloody murder.
The boy apologizes and helps her up - his pale green hair is tied back in a ponytail, and he’s dressed in a black trenchcoat over a vest with a tie, along with boots and gloves. And cat ears, of course. In Yuzuriha’s fashionista opinion, he looks like a cross between a noir detective and a mad scientist.
When she asks his name, the boy tells her that they’re not actually supposed to know each others’ real identities or they risk getting their Miraculouses stolen - didn’t her kwami tell her that? Yuzuriha flushes red and admits she didn’t get a chance to learn everything. The boy says they should stick to codenames - she’ll be Ladybug and he’ll be Black Cat.
“Wait, you just want to use the names of the Miraculouses? That’s kind of...bland, isn’t it?”
“Well what do you want then, miss fancy pants?”
Yuzuriha looks the boy up and down and then says, “How about...Kurodora?” He blinks and then tilts his head curiously. “Like...kuro and dora, for dora neko? I...I actually kind of like that.” (kuro - black. dora neko - stray cat. Totally coincidentally, it’s where Doraemon gets his name.)
“Great, Kurodora it is! Then for me...” -cue loud crashing sounds-
No time to waste! The heroes leap into action to fight the akuma, who introduces herself as Lioness, predator of predators. She’s holding Magma hostage at the top of Tokyo Tower, and threatens to bring the whole thing crashing down unless the heroes surrender their Miraculouses to her so she can bring them to her master, someone called Sphinxmoth.
Throughout the battle Kurodora refers to Yuzuriha by experimental nicknames, which she reacts to with varying levels of enthusiasm.
“Hey Red, on your left!” “Red? Kind of simplistic, don’t you think?”
“Watch out, Spots!” “That’s so silly!”
“Headed your way, Bug Girl!” “Ack, just go back to Red!”
Lioness tries to convince Yuzuriha to join her, since they’re both women and surely Yuzuriha knows the frustration of being victimized by men and feeling powerless, right? Yuzuriha says that doesn’t mean she wants to hurt people, and successfully distracts Lioness so that Kurodora can grab her necklace and destroy it, with him instructing her to purify the akuma with her powers (He was very meticulous and made Plagg explain everything in detail).
After Miraculous Ladybug returns everything to normal, Kurodora raises his hand. “Nice job, Red.” They high five. It is epic.
Ace reporter Minami Hokutozai then appears on the scene to interview Tokyo’s newest heroes, asking for their names on live television. Kurodora gives his, and when the microphone is put in her face, Yuzuriha thinks for a moment before answering.
“Carmine, like the shade of red.”
Kurodora smiles, and Tokyo cheers.

Lapidot Week- Day One; Dancing in the Rain
Peridot is upset that she missed out on Lapis' first Rainday. Flowers are planted and dances are had.
@lapidot-week come get y’all juice
The sound of clanging alerts Lapis to her barnmate's incoming.
Peridot wouldn't know subtlety if it crawled out of her Gem, and the sound of her as she scaled the ten foot tall vertical water tower would be impressive to a newcomer, but at this point it was practically mundane, so Lapis didn't do much more than shift slightly to give her green . . . friend space as she awkwardly flopped over the edge, letting out a cheer as she reached the top.
"Neyhehe!" She giggled, pulling herself up beside Lapis to bare little pointed fangs at the ground below "I have conquered you!"
"And it only took you two hours" Lapis deadpanned as she did not react to Peri leaning into her.
"I know!" Peridot grinned, looking smug "a new record!" She pulled away slightly, and Lapis let out a little disappointed 'oh' that the little Gem thankfully seemed to miss. "A record I wouldn't need to be breaking if you would just fly me up."
"Eh, the climbings good for you" she grinned a little at Peridot's affronted expression, before turning away to stare at the land surrounding them. She could see the place where the Orchids they had tried to grow were, now withered and dead, the one plant they had yet to master.
Peridot, following her gaze, gave a little hum of realisation "it's very . . .  green, isn't it?" She said, like it was the highest compliment one could give to another.
Lapis snorted "yeah, it is. You fit right in."
"Actually, save for the plants we are growing, I have yet to find another creature on this planet that is green like me" she paused "well, Steven mentioned 'hoppers of grass' but apparently they can spit acid, so I'm not sure I want to meet them."
The tall blue Gem stared at the smaller one for a second in disbelief before whistling, a new trick that Steven had taught her "never saw anything like that, although" she trailed off here, glancing up at the sky for a moment "I did see some weird things, when I was- um, under the sea."
Peridot nodded, enthusiastic and carefully ignoring Lapis' slip up. This was why they were friends. "Oh yeah, Amethyst told me about them! They're called fish! Did you know that Earth doesn't even know half of the Ocean's wildlife? Talk about ignorant."
Lapis found herself agreeing; while she liked Earth, her opinions on it's inhabitants were pretty indecisive, mostly because, outside of Steven, Connie and whoever that 'Greg' guy was, she had never met any humans. Unless you counted Camp Pining Hearts, but she was pretty sure if she ever met Paulette, she would uppercut her into the ocean.
"I saw this one . . fish that would expand if you got too close" Lapis reminisced fondly "scared the hell out of us- me. Scared the hell out of me."
Peridot looked amazed at this new information, pulling a notebook out of who-knows-where and scribbling in it fiercely. "But how? Doesn't that break the law of conversation of mass?" She gasped, almost dropping her fancy fountain pen that had almost certainly been stolen from Amethyst who stole it from Pearl. "Are other creatures on Earth capable of that? Is Steven? Is Greg?"
And now her friend was looking at her, like she had all the answers to life, the universe and everything, eyes shining beneath her visor as her hair stood up in all directions, and Lapis was very, very gay (a new term, thank you Pearl) and so blurts out the first thing that comes to mind.
"There weren't any Pumpkins down there."
. . .
Okay, look. Nobody here said that Lapis was smart, and she could see her pet (pet? Like a Pearl? Or a Spinel?) playing down below, and she panicked and now-
-oh Stars, Peridot was doing the thing, with her eyes like she had just realised something beyond the ken of measly gay idiots everywhere.
"Of course! Underwater flora would be completely different than overground flora! Less light and less rain-"
"No rain."
Peridot stopped scribbling in her notebook, which is great because Lapis is pretty sure she can hear the pen weeping, but the manic look doesn't leave her eyes at all. "What?"
Lapis carefully folded her legs underneath her in a kneeling position, which caused Peridot to scooch back slightly, looking slightly . . . disappointed? In the sudden lack of contact "it doesn't rain down there. I didn't even know what rain was until - until I got out."
Not that she was particularly impressed once she discovered it either. It was handy for farming, but other than that? Useless.
But already Peri was making sharp gestures with her hands, "HOLD ON, hold on, are you telling me, that I missed out on your first rain day?" The hands fell into Peri's lap, as she stared, crushed, up at her barnmate.
Slag, slag, slag, you messed up, you messed up big-
Lapis tried to laugh it off "well yeah, but it doesn't matter, it's just water-"
"Just water!" Peridot repeated, somewhat hysterical. "Have you ever seen another planet that drips water from the sky?"
She hesitated "does- does acid count as water?"
The technician stared, bug eyed for a moment, before; "NO!"
"Okay, okay!" Lapis put up both of her hands, feeling oddly defensive about the whole thing "just thought I'd ask."
That did absolutely nothing to soothe Peridot's feelings, as she just curled up into a ball, with a frown on her face.
Great job, Lazuli
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Luckily for Lapis' self worth, the conversation is abandoned and forgotten, until almost a week later, when Peridot all but kicks the barn door in, almost faceplanting as she bounds inside to where Lapis was reading one of those 'trashy romance novels' Amethyst keeps giving her.
She's finally reaching the part that Amethyst assured her is 'hot' and 'steamy' and so is a little annoyed when Peridot grabs one of her arms and pulls her out of her hammock, dragging her slowly towards the door.
"Come on, Lazuli, work with me here!" Peridot grits out as she hauls Lapis towards the open door. Lapis herself, laying on her back and staring blankly up at the ceiling, does not react besides a very slow blink. It's only when they're outside, almost ten minutes later, that she pulls herself to her feet and smiles at the exhausted Peridot.
"You wanted something?"
Peridot doesn't respond; instead choosing to stick her tongue out and march away. "Oh, that's mature" Lapis calls after her as she easily catches up.
It is only then that she really registers the weather around them; it is 'drizzling' a term used for when it is lightly raining, and the feeling of droplets hitting her skin reminds her of the conversation they had all those days ago, and how upset Peri had been.
She's always been pretty ambivalent towards the rain, but that memory may have just ruined it for her.
Peridot turns a corner, then spins dramatically around to face her, hands on hips, triumphant even as the rain starts to wrestle with the mess that is her hair. "Lazuli, I have something to show you."
"Yeah, I got that when you literally dragged me from the barn" Lapis tries to crane her neck around to see what Peridot is blocking but she lets out a screech of anger when she does, so Lapis snaps her head back.
"Thank you" Peridot said pleasantly, like she didn't just fracking screech at Lapis not two seconds ago. "I would like you to meet the newest addition to our farm" and then she moves aside.
Lapis and Peridot had been branching out in their gardening, particularly in the flower department. With Lapis' powers and Peridot's . . . Peridoting, they had singlehandedly mastered the care for every single flower.
Except one.
The Orchid.
Forget the Diamond Authority, these weeds were the real banes of their existence. Connie had heard their troubles, and tried to reassure them, telling them that Orchids were considered one of the hardest plants to care for, that even the most experienced gardeners had troubles with it. Not that that helped much; many a tantrum had been thrown over this stupid, pretty plant. The temptation to just . . ask Steven for help was strong, but they wanted to do this on their own.
It got to the point where they were both strongly considering Amethyst's idea of Goat Sacrificing, Peridot had looked into it and it seemed 'legit' as the humans said.
But now.
Oh, but now-
In a small, small circle, were a couple of orchids, tall and healthy and alive, and not dead.
And blue.
Lapis gapes, unable to even begin to say anything as she stared at the flowers that had only just come into bloom. Peridot rocks back on her heels, grin even larger now as she saw her partners blatant shock.
The rain is starting to come down heavy now, starting to soak through their clothes, but the way Peridot is acting, it was if the sun itself was shining down on her.
Lapis opens her mouth to say something, closes it again, then takes a step forwards to get a better look, bending down to inspect the petals. Her jaw tightens as she spins around to face Peridot, ignoring how her hair is beginning to stick to her face thanks to the determined rainfall "you cheated!" She accuses.
Peridot blinks, hurt "I did not!"
The blue Gem looks between her and the Orchids "yeah, you did. There are no such thing as blue Orchids, you had to have done something to them" honestly, she had read the same gardening books Peridot did, did she really think she wouldn't notice?
Surprisingly, Peridot blushes, sending up small splashes from newly forming puddles as she fidgets on the spot, fixing her eyes on a point beyond Lapis. "I didn't cheat" she says in a quavering sort of voice "not really. I- uh, I got Steven to take me to a Gardening Center, and I bought white Orchids, and I planted them here approximately one week ago."
Lapis stares at her, trying to drill the simple point through her visor and into her head "they're blue."
She clears her throat awkwardly, shifting from foot to foot "yes, well, I thought I could" she gestures helplessly towards the flowers "inject them. With some dye."
Lapis shoves her now sodden hair out of her eyes, frowning as it just flopped down again. What had happened to that nice drizzle? She was soaked. And, more importantly-
"Why blue? Of all colours, why blue?"
Peridot grimaces, looking like she had just been caught out. "W-well" she rubs her fingers together "I- I like blue?" She offers, throwing up her hands in a what do you do? kind of gesture.
There is something in that, something that Lapis felt like she should be seeing, but, to be honest, it is hard to see even a meter in front of her. The rain is coming down hard now, hitting her skin and filling her ears with the rhythmic pit-pat sound. Through the sheet of rain, everything is blurry and mushed up, and Lapis glances back behind her to make sure that the Orchids, which, apparently, weren't the byproduct of Steven or some other outsider playing Diamond, only to see-
She has to take a step back.
Through the rain, the awful, dreadful, downpouring rain, all you could see of the Orchids were the colours-
Blue and Green.
The Orchids petals and stems and leaves.
Blue and Green and Blue and Green.
Mixing, mashing together, blurring so much that it was impossible to see where one colour ended and another began.
Blue and Green.
"Earth's colours" Peridot says, splashing up beside her, voice trembling.
"Our colours" Lapis agrees, sliding her hand through her brilliant, amazing, special partner.
Peridot shrieks when Lapis picks her up, spinning her around as she bounces through the puddles. It doesn't take long for the shrieks to become laughter, or for Lapis to join in, both of them soaked to the skin as they do.
Lapis slips, falling backwards, accidentally crushing two of the Orchids they had worked so hard to even exist, but neither cared, Lapis already rolling to her feet and Peridot already jumping into her arms. It didn't even occur to Lapis to use her wings- this was an Earth dance, not a sky dance.
Peridot's hair is flattened against the rain, making her look smaller than ever, frailer than ever, but she laughs the same as she kicks her way through the puddle, and Lapis laughs with her as she, a Lapis Lazuli, a high ranking Gem, is splashed with mud, some of which gets in her mouth. It just makes her laugh harder. There is no worries about the mirror or Malachite or Fusion at all- they are just two friends dancing through the rain and mud and flowers, howling at the sky.
All those days ago, on the water tower, she hadn't understood why Peridot seemed so upset she missed out on her first rain day.
Now, laughing as she twirled and twisted, feeling her dress float out around her and Peridot put their foreheads together, she finally got it.
And through the rain, the amazing, wonderful, downpouring rain, all you could see of the two were the colours-
Mixing, mashing together, blurring so much that it was impossible to see where one colour ended and another began.
Just Blue and Green and Blue and Green.
The Earth's Colours.
Blue and Green.
I wrote this in an hour because I completely forgot about Lapidot week, and my arm really hurts, and I will surely hate this in Two Hours but it’s Fine.
Also, my weird obsession with flowers leaks into everything I have ever made ever, but at least it’s understandable in this case

Top 5: Crowley is Raphael headcanons
dfgohgououg!!
Crowley remembers the Fall. He remembers it the way you remember a Traumatic Event; all the bad stuff and hardly of the good stuff that preceded it. This means he doesn’t Talk about it because it really is Traumatic for him.
Even though he’s Fallen and a demon, Crowley can’t help but heal and help. Yes okay, he’ll do “evil” *insert air quotes around ‘evil’* things in order to appease hell and Luci in particular, but he doesn’t enjoy them. The only ones he does enjoy are the ones where he gets to ruin the career of a politician or someone who is just a bit Too Mean and does things Crowley Thinks Are Bad. Those he enjoys. But generally, Crowley has the overwhelming, wired-in-to-his-being need to fix things. He may be bad at it--in fact, he does an awful job half the time because, well, he doesn’t really Get The Specifics Of The Problem You Have Karen Why Not Just Apologise To Your Friend??--but he tries and tries and tries because he’s literally designed to Do That.
Raphael!Crowley is Lucifer’s twin. He got tricked into falling by asking a question of God at just the wrong moment--you know, like when you go to your parent to ask a Thing and they’ve just stubbed their toe or your sibling has annoyed them about something and they, wrongly, take it out on you? Like that--because Luci is a dickish dick who wanted his brother With Him. As a result, there are two Archangels in hell and one of them is legit Pissed At His Situation.
Crowley ends up in Eden because he volunteered to get away from Luci. In fact, he actually told Luci “I’m going up to earth so fuck off and leave me alone,” and Luci, recognising his brother was in a Bad Mood, wisely agreed but saved-face by turning the Escape Of Crowley into a Mission For Evil with the Tempting Of Eve. Crowley still has the better deal tbh.
Crowley has six wings. He has four on his back and two that are... uhm... spiritual loinclothes... kinda. Anyway. The four on his back aren’t really black but lapis lulzli blue because that’s an awesome colour and he Chose that colour when God asked him what colour he wanted his wings to be. After the Fall, he changed the colour of the two primary wings but left the other two--since he was playing at being a regular demon/fallen angel and all--which means, when Aziraphale sees him with all four wings out, two are black-by-choice and two are Bright Fucking Blue Oh My Lord You’re An Archangel Why Didn’t You Tell Me Crowley? and it’s fucking fantastic.
Top 5 things?

Story
“Kueh” can be sweet or savory bite-sized snacks, with its roots traced back to Malay and Indonesian cuisines. The Peranakan community who were early Chinese settlers in Malacca and later Indonesian, adapted the original Malay and Indonesian kuehs as part of their cuisine.
My love affair with kueh started when I was young. My mother is a Malaysian and my grandmother makes really good kuehs. She goes as far as to use butterfly blue pea flowers collected from her plantations to create the marbling effect in the steamed glutinous rice in her kueh salat (most kueh salat uses colouring).
However, most times, the recipes are just “ agak agak” which means ough estimation and they are not even aware of the precise measurements. She uses day-to-day items like a bucket to measure out the ingredients.
Sadly, I didn’t managed to get her recipe. While many people might find making traditional kueh tedious, but not me! I started my journey trying out various recipes and modifying them to get the right texture. I enjoy making my own traditional kueh so that I could bring back the beauty of my childhood memory.
Never tired of the sweetness, softness, especially the fragrant scent of pandan leaf and the sweet-salty sugary taste are too tempting. My all-time favorite Malay kueh indeed is Kueh Salat.

300g glutinous rice, rinsed
200ml fresh coconut milk
1 tsp salt
3-4 pieces of pandan leaves
25-30 blue butterfly pea flower
Ingredients for the top “kaya” custard layer
3 medium eggs
200 ml fresh thick coconut milk
150g fine granulated sugar
20-30 pieces of pandan leaves, rinsed and cut into small pieces
100 ml water
10g corn starch
25g plain flour
Method
Preparation work starts the night before the actual cooking.
(1) In a saucepan, place water and blue butterfly pea flower in it and bring the water to a boil before turning down the flame to low. Allow to simmer slightly with lid on for 3-5 min before turning off flame and steep for 10-15 min. Leave to cool down slightly before use. It may help to sit the pot on a folded wet towel to cool it down more quickly.
(2) Rinse the glutinous rice to remove excess starch and impurities present, until water is reasonably clear.
(3) Divide the washed glutinous rice into 3 parts. Place 2 parts in a bowl and add water until rice grains are completely submerged. Place the remaining last part in a separate bowl and add blue butterfly pea flower juice over it. Top up with some water if necessary, ensuring that all the rice grains are covered in the blue liquid.
(4) Leave both bowls of soaked glutinous rice to sit for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
On the actual day of cooking,
(5) Drain the glutinous rice that had soaked overnight and spread out onto two separate plates for steaming. Crush or shred the pandan leaves slightly and stuff them between the rice grains.
(6) Add salt to fresh coconut milk and give it a good stir.
(7) Divide the coconut milk into 3 parts, and drizzle 2 parts into the plate with “white rice” and one part into the plate with “blue rice”. Stir thoroughly to combine coconut milk with rice grains.
(8) Place the plates into a steamer and steam at high heat for 20 min.
(9) While waiting for the pulot to steam, begin with the preparation of the “kaya” custard layer by first placing snipped pandan leaves and water in a food blender and blitz until a fine pulp is obtained (refer here for what the pandan pulp should look like)
(10) Drain the pandan juice over a fine wired sieve or better still muslin/cheesecloth and squeeze as much juice out of the pulp as possible. It should yield more than 100 ml of concentrated pandan juice.
(11) In a mixing bowl, add eggs and sugar. Whisk slightly to break the eggs and proceed to add coconut milk, 100 ml pandan juice, plain flour and cornflour. Stir well until smooth and free from lumps. Set aside (NOTE: do not be tempted to use more than 100ml of pandan juice as too high a liquid ratio would make it difficult for the custard to set)
(12) When the pulot is done steaming, combine the two parts into a slightly greased 6″ square tin and press down with a “penekan kek” (kek lapis legit press) or the back of a sturdy metal spoon. Ensure that the rice layer is very compact, especially around the edges and corners. Place the tin into the steamer and top up the water in it if necessary. Turn on the heat to get the steaming started over medium-low flame.
(13) Return to work on the custard layer, strain the mixture in (11) into a heat-proof or metal bowl and sit this bowl over a pan of gently simmering water. Stir continuously until custard just begins to thicken. Note that the custard batter should still be very fluid and not viscous.
(14) Pour the slightly thickened custard mixture carefully over the rice layer in the square tin and steam very gently over barely simmering water until the custard layer sets. It should take approx. 25-30 min. Wrap the lid with a large towel to catch any condensation.
(15) Leave the kueh to cool completely (about 6 hours) before unmoulding and cutting.

Today has been such a good day~
It was the final day of Hyper Japan and we had a blast!
Literally the one downer was finding out afterwards on Twitter that I've bought some pin badges with stolen art on them (which are being removed from my bag now). Dodgy dealers aside it was brilliant fun and I can't wait for next year!
One of the highlights of the weekend was a little boy dressed as Luigi who spotted my hubby and I dressed as Lapis and Peridot, whose dad told us he's a massive SU fan - he proudly posed with us so his dad could take a photo, he even had a mini vacuum cleaner on his back ;u; It was so pure. Last year at the event, a little girl ran up to me and said "I love you, Peridot!" and hugged my legs (I legit almost burst into tears but refused to break character lol) - it's so nice to be able to bring joy to the younger fans as well as those who are more in our own age range. You get a very brief idea of how the characters at Disneyland must feel!
We got to try out Pokemon Sword/Shield and Luigi's Mansion 3, which were loads of fun, and I bought some awesome (non-bootleg!) goodies along the way - including the adorable cushions that I posted about the other day! The venor spotted my "Hello, I ship Lapidot" badge when I bought them and said to me "enjoy your Lapidot", which was sweet. I bought a Lapidot print from the same person last year, incidentally.
The weekend was topped off with an (early) birthday treat - a trip to a wonderful Japanese restaurant in London this evening for ramen, with my hubby and a good friend of ours 💚
Now I'm sat in the hotel with achey feet lol, but it's been fantastic. Roll on next year!

Affinois, Oleh-Oleh Baru Lapis Legit Dengan Pilihan Topping
Affinois, Oleh-Oleh Baru Lapis Legit Dengan Pilihan Topping

What are your thoughts on everyone’s new designs? I love them all except I’m lowkey disappointed with Pearls design and I’m not a huge fan of Garnets new visor. But I absolutely love that lapis finally has some yellow and amethysts new look and garnets outfit is amazing
Pearl: While I like this outfit, I feel like there needs to be slightly more detail in it. I know the star is on the back of the jacket, but even a tiny star or a stripe on the front of the jacket, leggings, or top would have been nice Amethyst: LOVE LOVE LOVE! May be my favorite of her’s. It’s so cute. I want it and I’m legit considering getting an outfit like it (not for cosplay, but for every day wear).Garnet: I like her new color palette and the split of colors down the middle of her outfit. I personally like her new visor. It still feels like Garnet’s style with a little extra flare. I think this outfit ranks higher for me compared to some of her other outfits.Lapis: Loving the pants a lot. I really adore the addition of yellow and orange to her palette. I was missing that in her original design. Her shoes are cute too!Peridot: Adorable. I really like this ensemble and her new visor. Also, I predicted the star imagery on the knees, so of course I like it lol.

Good Stuff ~ Seven of the Season: SU Season 5
Wallop on my jollops, Batman, we got ourselves one of the best seasons of anime that I dare say will be the best of year in its entirety. I’m talking Mob Psycho 100 II like, holy shit, talk about doubling down on giving people a roller coaster of a time in the first month; it’s amazing. But enough about that, we’re talking about Steven Universe’s climatic season before Steven Universe 2 potentially blows us all away. Here be the TOP 7 Best Episodes of Steven U’s final season. Seven, because it’s lucky, babey. Okay *pops a beer* so....
Number 7: Can’t Go Back
Tumblr media
It is something where I don’t hate Lapis as much as I’ve seen most else. So when we got an episode where Steven and Lapis get to casually talk to each other on the moon, I was definitely down with that. Wasn’t too big a fan of the musical number, but I liked that Steven and Lazuli just had a sincere yet casual chat about her situation after jetting off, Lapis coming to terms with her more aloof character, something I wanted more of from this series. However, the ending definitely set this back. In the sense that Lazuli was surely coming around, at the very least work through to shed off the fears she possessed previously, those doubts and anxieties are unnecessarily strengthened as the Pink Diamond plot gets in the way with Steven not even trying to stop and ease Lapis’ panic mode after his nightmare; practically made the episode just feel like set up for the Rose Quartz twist in that instant when it didn’t have to and Lazuli’s turnabout in Reunited feel slapdash. The casualness or laid back atmosphere of this is what I say made this episode in the list, but, with all due respect, fuck that ending.
6. Change Your Mind
Tumblr media
It’s safe to say I was thoroughly entertained from this finale like my god, it just went all out with giving people the confrontation of a lifetime and I can’t stay mad at it. But, on rewatch, it loss the enticement when it’s pretty by the book. If Steven wasn’t Pink, I’d have no doubt that not only would this have been different, but would’ve been a whole lot challenging for Steven and everyone in its entirety. But for this, it’s kinda the prime example of why I see many be frustrated with this show: because you’re either with it and applaud it for its efforts or sit there empty or disappointed the second you turn your brain on and try to process what legit happened. And for me, the diamonds having a change of heart in their more abusive connection with Pink, Steven fusing with everyone, White Diamond not even fighting for her worldview after getting roasted one time, didn’t feel earned as it did just fall in place for Steven, the exception being his connection with Pink Steven. Everyone was just on the same page by the end, except for those forced shard fusions who writhe and scream in constant pain and agony, reaching out to escape their torment after the Diamonds approved experimentation on them; the ones who can't be fixed. I bet they're okay with the Diamonds laughing it up with Steven at a pool party. And as bombastic and emotionally charged as it was as a entertaining episode, it lacked coordination or a good semblance of logic to be a good episode.
Number 5: Pool Hopping
Tumblr media
Honestly Garnet getting to act more eccentric, hanging out with Steven, is what made this episode stand out at first, but to see her acknowledge Steven’s growth, changing her perspective on him, is what made this a stand out episode. I like how this is parallel to season one’s Future Vision except it’s at no one’s fault and Steven is more comfortable with the unpredictability of things compared to beforehand. And what’s especially poignant about this is that it serves as both a standalone that genuinely felt like a “Season 5″ episode and in hindsight a great preface to Ruby and Sapphire’s arc later on. It’s pretty middle on the list because the next entries have a little more to them, but I nonetheless say this a great episode for Garnet.
Number 4: Reunited
Tumblr media
I’d say any criticisms I have for this were how I felt about Change Your Mind but not as heavy. It was all entertaining, but loses momentum when you bother turning your brain on for a bit. Like, even on my first viewer, knowing full well that Steven is Pink, I figured soon as the Diamonds would arrive that “Ah, Steven’s gonna make them open up their eyes,” which initially diminished any impact the whole fight scene had on me; making it more of a laughable tussle then a serious root worthy standoff. It’s kinda hard to feel invested when you feel the protag’s not gonna lose in any semblance! But, what makes this generally better than Change Your Mind is the wedding part of it all. Man, if this episode was just about the wedding, it would’ve been #1 no question. The musical, the ceremony, Rubes and Sapphy in general, it all just came together like quality fettuccine! I’m a sucker for weddings and that was one of the best moments of the show.
Number 3: Escapism
Tumblr media
I’ve already talked about this episode, almost ad nauseam, so if you wanna know more about why I say it’s the best of the Diamond Days arc, links here, here, and here. But long story short, this was an episode that utilized the point of the title extensively. In contrast to Steven and Connie’s barren situation, the episode was an escapism in a literal and figurative sense and even then, it’s one where Steven had to genuinely fight to get the ending he wanted. Reminded me a lot of one of my all time favorite books, The Odyssey. It’s one where I genuinely empathized with the kid’s struggles since he found his situation dire and serious. It was mostly absent of dialogue which made the visuals stand out more to me. And really, I had a laugh at how Steven was done with this shit which made his successes feel more.... gratifying, lack of a better term. And the cherry on top was the musical number, which had me thinking of its purpose for once. Needless to say, I enjoyed thinking about this episode.
Number 2: Back to the Kindergarten
Tumblr media
This episode is an earnest time waster. I mean that as a big compliment and because it literally amounts to Peridot wasting time on futile efforts to come to a valid sense of self actualization. Seems episodes containing the shorty squad with Scallion head as the central focus amount to the most meaningful slice of life episodes and I’m for episodes like this. Raising the Barn was generally boring until the end, but this episode makes up for that with a solid experience for Peridot handling the aftermath of Lapis abandoning her. Amethyst was a direct, yet necessary push for Peridot to head to the Kindergarten, especially when she herself was pumped to go now knowing her lineage, and it was neat how Peridot’s newfound colorful perspective shined a profound light on how the Kindergartens were harmful to Earth. Even Steven was a great backbone to the others, being a good team player to both Peridot and Amethyst when they briefly tag teamed to be Smokey. While I was questioning why the trio were planting sunflowers in a place… devoid of sunlight, the end where Peridot looks over the leviathan batch of ‘em, signifying the vast opportunities she still has while alive, in comparison to the first train ride she had where she sulked away from the scenery, was a lovely feel to look back on. This was an enjoyable watch the whole way through and a good episode to think about from time to time. But I’d expect nothing less for best Crystal Gem.
Honorable mentions: Jungle Moon, The Trial, The Question, A Single Pale Rose
Number 1: What’s Your Problem?
Tumblr media
My only complaint for this episode is the beginning where Amethyst is more callous than before, being generally ignorant to Pearl and Sapphire sobbing right in front of her. I understood what she was going for, doesn’t diminish the episode, but the writers made her sound pretty out of character. A great joke in this is when Amethyst tries to literally jet off and for a split second, I forgot that Steven can jump high and seeing him pounce at her just caught me off guard. Then we have the end, where, after trying to help him open up, Ame tells Steven that she’s tired of him having to carry the others’ melancholic baggage and that he deserves to have a voice for himself. And that… stuck with me, resonated with me because her putting her foot down felt honest, sincere, and to the point. And man, if I can resonate with a Steven Universe episode at this state, someone did something objectively right. I especially like that after her big moment, she playfully recoiled when Steven casually gave her a compliment to think about. I’d say it showed that Steven does want to express his feelings, but he feels that venting isn’t gonna resolve much like how it used to. It showed the two supporting each mutually without having to feel sorry for themselves. This episode not only boosted my love for Amethyst, other best Crystal Gem, her and Steven’s sibling bond over time, culminating to this moment, is what I enjoyed most about this series. If more episodes was like that third act, I would praise this show a whole lot more.
Won’t lie, got mixed feelings about this season. On one hand, it’s the Kingdom Hearts 3 of this series where there’s some finality to it, there was quite a lot to enjoy, and I feel relieved sticking by it the whole way. On the other hand, the majority of episodes didn’t faze me as much and it felt exhausting actually getting some finality to this series since this season took almost two years to premiere everything. At the very least, I’m optimistic in the fresh start SU 2 will potentially bring with the movie this coming fall; it’s gonna be the Knack 2 of Cartoon Network. In any case, my kudos to the crew for this series and their dedication* to it.

Like actual real talk
I think the best thing Crewniverse has in all of Steven Universe isn’t the Gems, Lore, Music or even satisfying conclusions to things. To me it’s the villains. Our first big “bad” was fucking Lapis, a character whose design is up in the top 5 imo. Lapis’ goal was she wanted to fucking leave, that’s it. Simple as can be. Later we got Peridot whose goal was just dumb science bitch stuff. Again simple and it later became to get off this gay blue planet. Both of those two got redemption arcs and changed them up a bit. Lapis became a haha funny xd Nihilist and Peridot became fandom trash. And again I don’t like character much because of shit like this  Next in order came Jasper her goal on showing up was to help Peridot get her stupid science but quickly became to get revenge for her diamond. Now I skipped the ones who didn’t show up on earth because those are legit one offs, even Topaz and Emoji are really lame. Leading to the real point here The Great Diamond Authority.
This was a plot point hyped up since Season 1, but the reason i like their characterization as villains is i can see exactly where they come from. Pink being pretty close to my own heart as I can see my self in her. Tired of being looked at as the runt of the litter, as just a kid. Her place as a villain is from her working hard to be seen as a more than the youngest. She created the most versatility foot soldier in Rose Quartz, set up for a very effected use of her first Colony and even prepared some of the lifeforce stock backed up in a space zoo for future colonies.
Yellow is a different case. She is very clear cut spiteful to erase what caused the pain. The Cluser, wanting to just destroy an entire cut for ever, wanting the zoo gone. The type of Parent to seal off the room her child died in and pretend it never happened, none of it.
Blue is the least evil but buried in Grief. The type to just weep in the room leaving it the same for the remainder of time in that house. The type who never really finishes her grief cycle because she can’t accept it.
White strikes me as the type to bury herself in work when grieving. The type to just shut down and hide away. Why we never see her and probably never will (outside of flashbacks) until the very end of the series
As someone who has been hit with death after death in my family most recent being my dad last year to cancer in the everywhere. I can really feel for villains of grief. Especially ones like White that match my own cycle to a tee.

Imo a god tier manipulation is using the truth attacking/controlling others. Almost every word Jasper’ve said on her screen time is right, legit, especially in ‘Crack the Whip.‘ I find it fascinating every time I rewatch this episode. That’s a purely well-intended emotion manipulation plus (not that important) physical strength. On the other hand, if what she said is what she believes in that means she’s broken af at the same time. In JailBreak, her words were just normal-good level manipulation. And in ‘Alone the Sea’, she’s just too used to being manipulative when in fact she’s weak af and pretends to be strong. I bet Lapis Lazuli saw Jasper as ‘something(not someone) she’d done and she was guilty af she did this shit’ and Lapis Lazuli was somehow immobilized by herself breaking the old moral rule she’d set long times ago when she was in Homeworld. It didn’t matter who the fuck Jasper was, it mattered that she used to believe in ‘every gem should take care of each other.‘ And at the end of this episode, Lapis Lazuli was like ‘Okay fuck off my guilty. It seems like nowadays gems normally are bad to each other, why should I even have guilty then?‘ Erm, Jaspearl fusion would be codependent af but healthy imo. Pearl is as well a god tier manipulator when it comes to fusion. FOR THE SAKE OF FUSION. Lapis Lazuli and Steven are casually top tier manipulators and they can both be god tier shits if needed. Selective truth, observation without asking following question, obscure-these are their passive traits that can influence people around them unintentionally and sometimes they are some shits providing people becoming beyond-god tier manipulator shits. In conclusion, Jasper&Pearl are aggressive manipulators while Lapis Lazuli&Steven get more passive manipulative traits If irl you meet someone with aggressive manipulative tendency, all you need to do is giving them zero fuck. From my experience, someone with this trait is often sloppy and fragile. But if you meet someone with Lapis Lazuli&Steven&Rose’s passive manipulative level, you need to pray for whoever you believe in&hoping that they only spread their positive shits.
