So insurance is a huge pain and it has been keeping me from getting my glucose monitor and my insulin pump so I’ve been doing diabetes care the old fashioned way which is…. So annoying, but I had to get a new meter because the one I brought to college with me for emergencies just like this for some reason doesn’t work cuz the strips aren’t going in, and look at absolutely tiny this mf is

Inspired by this post, but with the insulins I grew up on and flowers that I associate with having a chronic illness (more discussion under the cut)

So the flowers are blue star (strength, resilience, patience) and cactus flower (endurance.) In all honesty I wouldn't be alive right now without unwavering patience and perseverance. (That's why I personally put T1D reader as having either a cyan or purple SOUL, or both.)

I was diagnosed back in August of 1999, before I was even two years old. Some of my earliest childhood memories is not being allowed to have treats brought in for the class (eventually changed) and learning how to do my own shots. Im on Tresiba and Novolog now because I'm having issues getting insurance to cover pump supplies, but Humalog and Lantus was what I took until I got a pump in 2007-2008 at nine years old. I remember so many changes and innovations in my life- insulin pumps, CGMs, heck even insulin pens were a huge change. Different insulins, better blood glucose meters, not to sound like a diabetic boomer but new diabetics have so many options now than when I was tiny. (Now if only we can get better access to at least Medicaid for everyone... Or taxpayer funded healthcare for everyone ideally)

i switched from the pump back to syringes yesterday and my endo didn't give me any instructions or anything. and i've been high since, but i'm like 400 now and i don't know why 😭

I'm getting better at jabbing my old cat with insulin twice a day.

The trick is to do it fast and as a surprise. Find the cat (usually lying on the heated floor tiles in the bathroom), do a little tent with her skin, jab with the teeny tiny needle of the pen at the base of that tent, push the button on the pen, hold for a few seconds, then run.

(she has a lot to say, but prefers to try to go away than attack me. Of the two cats I'm glad she's the one getting the medication, because with Balbina it's damn hard to use a dewormer on her skin, not to mention give her a jab of anything. She runs away at the tiniest suspicion someone's trying to grab her. I can't use two hands on her. Except patting her butt. Sometimes.)

Also: If you have diabetes, Walmart sells their generic Novolin R and N for $25 a vial, no prescription needed. (I think they also have pens, but I don't like insulin pens for a variety of reasons.) Novolin is an old version of insulin, and you have to wait at least 30 minutes for it to actually take effect, but any insulin is better than rationing and/or going without.

Catching Yoshie In Her Arms Of Tickles

Yoshie Came into the room, suspicious of anything that felt uneasy. “Hello?” She asked out loud. As she slowly went into the bed, she couldn’t help but feel that someone was about to attack her. Yoshie slowly laid down, her back against the mattress

As she sighed, she all of the sudden would end up yelping in shock. Two big arms clamped on her body, trapping and interlocking her tightly. She squirmed and groaned in cringe

“Hey, girl. I see your finally awake!” Blue bunny said, revealing she did this. She gave a cheeky grin as Yoshie rolled her eyes and grumbled. “Oh my god, blue bunny, I hate you so much right now” she muttered as she sinked into her sisters arms, feeling upset

Seeing her face not happy, blue bunny, taken aback by Yoshie’s frustration, made a cheeky decision probably No one would make. “You know girl, I know one way to cheer you up” “oh yeah? What’s that?” “By making you giggle and laugh as hard as you can!”

Yoshie would then widen her eyes in horror, As Blue Bunny’s Fur Was shifting across her bare skin, tickling her in some way

Yoshie couldn’t help but give up and unleash her big, girlishly laughter. “NYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! BLUE BUNNY NOOOOOOOO!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I CAN’T STAND THIS MADNESS AT ALL!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! GIRL I SWEAR TO GOD I’M GONNA-GYAAAAAAAAH!! NOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!! STOP INTENSIFYING YOUR TICKLES! ITS EXHAUSTING ME TOO MUCH!! HAHAHAHAHA!!” She squealed futilely, hoping to escape

“Oh, I know that you’re loving it so much. You’re so cheeky that you just won’t show it” blue bunny smiled sassily, “and just for the record, you will never escape these cheeky and clever tickles”. Yoshie still protested. “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS, YOU WICKED RABBIT!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! EEEEEEEEEEEK!!! I CANNOT HANDLE THIS ANY LONGEHEHEHEHEHEHEHER!!!
