Aevynna, she/her bisexual Sylvari. She was a Grove Warden and her Dearheart was Warden Captain Gaelan. She and Gaelan helped Caithe train and mentor Valiant Roaj.

Arasuri, she/her asexual Norn. Arasuri is a wanderer and a storyteller.

Asterlisia, agender Mist Dragon who prefers she/her pronouns. She was birthed into Tyria when Kralkatorrik tore through the Mists.

Kydda, she/her lesbian Asura. Kydda used to work under her mother Overseer Kuda at Rata Primus up until the Pact Commander saved her alongside Blish and Gorrik. She ends up working with Dragon's Watch and ends up in a relationship with Taimi.

Lanisera, she/her bisexual Sylvari. Lani was one of Faolain's trusted Duchesses. After HoT, Lani got with Chrysanthea to restructure and reform what was left of the Nightmare Court.

Lunaria, she/her lesbian. Lunaria was a Sylvari who was caught and experimented on. She was spliced with a Melandru Stalker. She escaped and returned to her Dearheart Solaria and then two leave Tyria for the Mists.

Three days into having what amounted to a multi-generational, multi-dimensional, most unconventional get-together for Rangers of all sizes and types, ages and worlds due to Lord Zedd rising from the ether, the Dino Fury team had been thrown something of a curve ball by Dr. Akana being called on in greeting the rest of the Tech Support/Ranger Support teams and having an exceedingly awkward moment being introduced (reintroduced?) to Lost Galaxy's Kai Chen.

There was a rambling conversation about how they knew each other: younger, on Terra Venture, in the aftermath of building up the colony on Mirinoi, loneliness, Kai's team often somewhere else, Lani missing being back on Earth terribly.

The look on Kai's face when he looked over to the Dino Fury team and saw Ollie.

Ollie would have to make note to thank Javi with a fishing boat's worth of marshmallows for steering Amelia away from filling to burst, asking something entirely inappropriate; and thank Damon, too, somehow, for being the best distraction to ever live so Ollie could slink away and not have to talk to anyone for a little while. Not until he was ready.

Well, almost anyone.

Aiyon could be very sneaky when nobody was looking, too.

Smooth hands that totally belied the strength hiding underneath ruffled Ollie's hair as Aiyon took a seat on the uncomfortable rocks that Ollie had been using to stair off into the middle distance on for a good long hour. In the middle of the night, it wasn't so bad, what with the sky open to them going forward and the rebuilt Angel Grove Command Center not like other buildings in that it didn't diminish the stars above them with light pollution.

It really spoke volumes that Ollie didn't try and smooth his hair back down again, even taking the half a sandwich Aiyon offered that he'd nicked from the small banquet the other rangers were breezing through inside.

Aiyon wasn't one to talk, though. He was done with his half of the food in about three minutes while Ollie chewed on his as if it were a last meal; Aiyon deciding not to beg, but make himself comfortable by leaning on so his chin was resting on drooping shoulders, antenna lifting up and down on occasion at the sounds of crickets or the scree of falcons snatching up prey.

"Do you suppose you got your eyes from him?"

Ollie groaned, mouth full and then painfully dry as he swallowed his last bite and huffed out a breath that left trails in the air from the temperature, "I am not talking about this. They'll track me down and corner me to have an awkward conversation soon enough. Can't I just...decompress for a little while? Amelia and Javi are already going to be on me like vultures after mom and... Mr. Chen... talk to me. Can't I be allowed to not think for a little?"

Aiyon didn't say anything, just looped long arms around Ollie's middle.

He was pleased that the Blue Ranger allowed him to snuggle in close for more heat as a way of apology, loose cold hand finding Aiyon's warmer one.

Ollie appreciated him for this silence and warmth. He really, really did.

Ryan: pov Jenny is arriving at the precinct so we can eat lunch together before I have to get back to working. Me and Esposito agreed on Chinese food since it's what Jenny wanted and she is pregnant so she gets what she wants. Lanie is getting a spicy version of Chinese food. Our bags are almost all packed for our weekend getaway to Castle's Hamptons house.

Lanie : pov I better not have to deliver your second child. An obgyn should do that. It's not my job I work with dead people for a living. Have you picked the Godparents yet?

Jenny: pov we are actually going to pick 2 sets, since you and Esposito are Sarah Grace's and my 2 family members. It was agreed this new baby would have different Godparents, me and Ryan are thinking about asking Kate and Castle. I already told my 2 family members who are going to be the godparents that we picked them.

Kate: pov We decide to stop at a place called Ernie's juice bar and grill. I take a picture of the sign and text it to Jules Callaghan. As a teen she used to hang out at a place called Ernie's juice bar, it was inside the youth center. Castle wants to come in with me to see the menu. He can walk a little bit on his foot with the crutches, his injured leg is almost 100 percent he just needs some more physical therapy and he will be 100.

Castle: pov once I make it inside on my crutches I find a table to sit at while I look at the menu. Kate has to get back to work so we need to order the food to go. The guy behind the counter is named Ernie and he is the owner, Kate says Jules showed her some picture of the late Ernie and this guy kind of looks like him.

Kate: pov Castle order's some type of sandwich while I'm having a teriyaki vegetable bowl with a smoothie on the side. Which looks amazing. I make sure to tell the guy that I have a heart condition and can't eat certain foods. I also mention that I can't have grapefruit or pomegranate and I'm allergic to pineapple. While the food is cooking I talk to the owner telling him my friend is also a police officer SRU and he kind of looks like one of her late friends. His name was Ernie. He had a juice bar named Ernie’s that was in the Angel Grove youth center. I know this is a strange request but can I get a picture with you to send to my friend? I tell him I'm a homicide Captain. Once our food is done me and Castle head back to the precinct so I can get some work done after lunch. With me having some food limitations my Dr's want to make sure I stay a healthy weight. I'm waiting for Jules to reply or call me back. She might be on a hot call and can't answer her phone.

Castle: pov I ask if we can sit on the sofa in her office and eat she says no you will make a mess. I know you will stain it no food on my sofa. She tells me to follow her into the breakroom. A light conversation flows through the break room as we eat. I have some stuff in my bag to keep me busy while Kate works. After a few minutes in her office Kate gets up to use the bathroom. Last night, I decided to take a break from writing and experiment with making some cool slime. I doubt Kate would let me play with it but what she doesn't know won't hurt. As soon as it's out of the bag it's slipping through my fingers and onto her nice couch. I try to scoop as much as I can up, I quickly grab my phone and look up how to get slime out of a couch. I found a YouTube video. I hope it helps me. I might have to tell the boys to see if they can help me before Kate finds out.

Kate: pov Castle what are you doing, as soon as I say it he jumps up and screams like a girl. Wow Castle your voice went pretty high there. He is no longer kneeling in front of my couch, I guess I must have startled him. He seems to have been doing something near my couch. Now that he has moved away I can tell that there is something stuck to my couch staining it. Castle, what is this? I told you not to eat on my couch.

Castle: pov I didn't. Kate says well something happened to my couch. I guess I have to finally admit that it was me. I kinda dropped my slime on your couch.

Kate: pov your slime, he says he made it himself, when did you have time to make it. Castle says last night while you were sleeping on the sofa next to your dad. I needed a break from writing. Why were you sitting on my couch with your slime?

Castle: pov well your couch is soft and I didn't want to sit on the hard chair.

Kate: pov but how did it end up on my couch staining it.

Castle: pov It's slipped out of my hands must not be thick enough.

Kate: pov well Castle you're going to be scrubbing for a while because that doesn't look like it's going to come out.

Castle: pov no problem the trusty internet can help me. It will come out, you wait and see.

Kate: pov well I'm getting back to work. My phone is ringing. It's Jules. She must have a few minutes to talk.

Jules: pov i’m on my lunch break with Sam we just finished a hot call thankfully It ended okay and no one got hurt. I saw the photos you sent, I might have to visit Ernie’s when me and Sam are in the US again. How are you doing?

Kate: pov okay i was in the ER a few weeks ago, I explained everything to her. Jules asks how Castle is with his leg injury. Doing good started pt, he is actually busy getting slime out of my couch in my office as we speak.

Jules: pov no way but who dropped it on your couch. Kate says take a guess. Oh it was him wasn't it. Kate says yep. I'm going to let you go because I don't want to take up your whole lunch break.

Castle: pov see I told you it would come out. To be continued. ………..

Nikko

We stayed for a week in a town called Imaichi which is one train stop away from Nikko.  This area is a popular weekend getaway or day trip destination from Tokyo which is about 2-3 hours on the train away.  The staff at the tourist office were surprised we were staying for so long and at our Airbnb it seems people usually stay for no more than 2 days.  I like how we are staying in places for a bit longer as it allows us to do things in a much more relaxed way than if we had to rush around for a day or two.  We also have leisurely starts to the day and often have a morning or afternoon or even a day at home to do nothing but chill out (or catchup on chores or homework).  

Nikko is famous for its world heritage shrines and temples with the largest and most lavish shrine being Toshogu Shrine which is situated within the Nikko National Park, along with a complex of multiple other shrines and temples all with World Heritage status.  Within the park there are many groves of huge cedar trees and around the town and neighboring towns there are streets lined with the huge trees.  There is a 37km stretch of tree line boulevard which was planted at the request of an emperor who died and asked for them in his death wishes.  They were used as some sort of passageway for samurai to travel around.  We spent a day wandering around the park and town but we didn’t pay the fee and go in.  We have seen lots of shrines and temples now and the kids, especially Lani, are not too keen on seeing any more.  At the entrance to the park is Shinkyo Bridge which is considered one of Japan’s three finest bridges and was constructed in 1636 which made me too nervous to go over it (along with the entrance fee!!).  But we had a good view from a nearby newer bridge…..

One day Hung led us on a walking tour of the outskirts of town along the river, across a bridge and into the mountains to a town called Kurifuri.  We came across a fishing pond where Leon and Lani fished for trout with the snow falling. It was really pretty, and a relaxing way to spend a few hours and it was lovely to see Leon and Lani enjoy each others company and work together to catch the fish.  At the end we each picked a fish and they BBQed it for us to eat.  I thought they looked so angry when they came out which Leon thought was fair enough given they had a stick stuck through their bodies and had been cooked.  I wouldn’t say it was the most delicious fish I have ever eaten but we did eat and enjoy it, even the kids.  Aiden and Kai weren’t with us that day so missed out – they didn’t seem to mind when we told them about it and they saw the pictures.

We visited ‘Edo Wonderland’ which is a Japanese amusement park based on the Edo period.  It was an interesting cultural experience and reminded me a lot of Sovereign Hill back home in Ballarat.  We enjoyed the Ninja House and Maze as well as the haunted temple.  We saw several of the cultural shows which were all in Japanese so a bit difficult to understand which made Leon very frustrated.  The ninja show was our favourite show.

Hung, with his love of onsens, spent a day out on his own travelling to nearby Kinugawa Onsen which a well known onsen town.  He spent the day wandering around, drinking sake and eating his packed snacks.  He used the free footbath on a bridge overlooking the river and visited an onsen in a local hotel.  He said the town was filled with huge hotels which were mostly deserted, and the streets were eerily quiet.  But he had a good day and enjoyed the train travel and onsen visit on his own.  When he came home, he and I went out for dinner to one of the two local restaurants in Imiachi where we had no idea what to order as the menu had no pictures or English on it.  We used the google translator to ask for the waitress to select some food for us.  We had the most delicious dinner of tofu soup, pickles, salad and grilled fish. It was just perfect for us and we enjoyed the night out alone!

We also travelled to nearby Yunishigawa onsen which is a town in nearby mountainous area with lots of snow still on the ground. Leon and Lani were so excited to see snow and quickly challenged each other to a snowball fight with some clear rules they had set like no hitting in the face. Lani had bought some waterproof gloves and had waterproof shoes and Leon had neither so he was freezing by the end. But they really enjoyed themselves.

Kai and Aiden spent quite a few days at home this week. Kai said he really needed a rest and Aiden didn’t really have a reason……Kai and Aiden like to know where we are going and what the plan is, and when we will be home.  They don’t cope so much with the ‘let’s just go and see what happens’ style of travel.  We are trying to show them that it is as much about the journey as the destination and sometimes we just don’t know where we will end up or what the ultimate plan will be. We have some big stubborn personalities in our group and we are learning about each other and ourselves as time goes by. I hope we get better and better at compromising and being tolerant of each other.
