Hoy vamos a hablar sobre algo increíblemente emocionante, algo que no se ve todos los días. ¿Recuerdan esos días en que los juguetes eran autos de juguete, y todos soñaban con ser propietarios de un Lamborghini o Ferrari, pero con seis veces el presupuesto? No, no me refiero a los sorteos de esos supuestos vehículos de lujo en su supermercado local. Estoy hablado de la maravilla de ingeniería que es el supuesto auto casero con motor V12 que alcanza una increíble velocidad de 267 mph. ¿Pueden creer eso? Por si acaso, ese es un hecho señoras y señores. Este increíble automóvil de alta velocidad casero, apodado 'Blackbird', fue creado por Ed Umland, con la ayuda de su hijo, Aaron Umland. El padre e hijo no solo son fanáticos de los autos, sino también mecánicos expertos. Contruyeron este maravilloso vehículo escapando sólo por un pelo de robo por parte de la gran depresión que azota al mundo automotor. We have an interesting piece of history today. We are selling the nose off of ferrari 512M #1020 Built for Le Mans in 1971 and later used for the Sept., 1974 Bonneville World Speed record runs with Luigi Chinetti Jr., Graham Hill and Paul Newman at the wheel. Note the 17 air vent holes cut just behind the wheels to allow air to escape from under the nose at high speed. In Sept., 1974 the NART team drivers set five speed and endurance records with 512 M s/n 1020 including 174.759 MPH for 10k unlimited, 10k international and 10k US class with Coco driving and a later run of 10 miles at 174.763 giving 10 mph international class C and 10 mph national class C. 🚀 1932 René Stapp Land Speed Record Attempt🚀 René Stapp was a French racing driver. In 1932 he attempted to break the land speed record with one of the most outlandish and ugliest cars to attempt to do so. The car was built in Paris between 1930 and 1932, then taken to Daytona Beach to attempt the land speed record. Two Bristol Jupiter radial aero engines supplied power. Assuming a generous 600 bhp per engine in racing trim, this would have given a power comparable to Malcolm Campbell's cars, so it wasn't an impossible contender. However, the general engineering was at the Heath Robinson level and failed to inspire confidence.
