Lando is so clingy boyfriend coded even as he's maturing, so he'd absolutely need you by his side as much as possible, but especially on race weekends. You ground him, you make him feel like a king, so moments with you before practice/qualifying/the race get him in that perfect mindset. Arriving on the paddock hand in hand, him beaming, you trying not to ugly laugh over the inappropriate joke he just whispered. Lowkey matching your outfits - he'd so get you a necklace that matches his!! - and he'd proudly wear a bracelet with your name on it. (Fans would adore you, obvs)

Quickies in his driver's room, him rushing to media with flushed cheeks and sparkling eyes and scratches on his neck. Oscar facepalms and shakes his head.

He's a dog guy but he'd come home from a few days at the MTC with a kitten because he knows you love cats - the same day you come home with a dog to surprise him.

In turn he'd fully support your career and interests. Gardening? He helps you set up a container garden on the apartment balcony. Cooking? He'll sit on a stool in the kitchen handing you ingredients and insist on doing the washing up. You're a writer? He's booking trips to the places you want to write about. Corporate badass? When you get home from work and need to rant about that bitch Francine in marketing he's commiserating and now he hates Francine on your behalf.

The relationship is as private as can be when one's dating a formula one driver, but he casually mentions you in interviews. "Oh yeah my girlfriend and I are going there next week" when another driver mentions NYC/Thailand/wherever. "My girlfriend's favourite" when asked about a local dish or dessert. And always, always, with slightly pink cheeks and a little grin.

Back to being at the races! No matter the outcome the first thing he does is go to you for a hug. Whether it's a joyous we did it or a more solemn did my best but... he needs your embrace as soon as he's out of the car. During a drama free race he will pop on the radio with a cheeky "she hasn't gone to sleep has she? tell her I love her" to Will.

It's late nights staying awake with him listening to him ramble when he gets in his head and feels insecure. It's running your fingers through his hair while his head's on your lap. It's his cologne in your clothes and your lipgloss on his cheek. It's driving around Monaco in his latest car while he theatrically panics in the passenger seat. It's laughter - so much laughter.

y/n’s best friend’s reactions and the messages from Lando are the perfect dichotomy of how I would be tempted to talk to her….. two v different tactics of calling homegirl out on being so .. idk the best way to phrase it.. pre-defensive??? The triple message to Lando at the end of their convo really said more about how she feels about max than anything else she’s said about him in the last like five chapters. When she lied about why she was “only going” on this date he breezed past the comment to ask for fucking chorizo I KNOW she was FUMING!!!!!! Like I could feel it in my bones that she wanted him to do or say something. Now though I’m worried that something inside her kinda snapped and she’s either gonna keep seeing metaphor and pushing the envelope until she gets a reaction from max OR she’s gonna go out of her way to pretend extra hard (harder than she usually does) that she doesn’t give a shit what max thinks of her and her love life. I have a lot of faith in you and where you’ll eventually take this plot I’m just gonna go ahead and beg you in advance that if there ends up being some kind of major miscommunication in the plot it has to be realistic !! Nothing grinds my gears worse than adults ruining their entire lives because of a miscommunication that even a 12 year old could solve on their own. Like I understand miscommunication tropes but sometimes they go so far that they defy very basic logic and I can’t watch y/n and max turn into complete idiots.. sorry that was definitely a personal preference rant - do what u gotta do it’s your story Lmao I’ve just been burned one too many times by fics that claim they’re about whole ass adults then have them act like 6 year olds for the sake of a plot point and I can’t see max doing that. No I 100000% get you. Nothing drives me crazier than people making whole life decisions based on the outcome of a conversation they never even had. Like, Y/N decides Max is in love with GP and takes a job in NYC and leaves without telling Max who then decides that the last 6 years meant nothing to her for no reason and they don’t talk until Lando locks them in a disused shopping container. Like, you two have shared everything for all these years be serious you’re not throwing that away over not even talking. I definitely see Max and Y/N being people that even if they’re dancing around the real conversation that they need to have, they’ll always be communicating with each other. I think that’s so much more true to the relationship they have and the people they are than freaking out and not talking to each other.

I think the thing with what Lando and her other friend were saying was their needling was fair but also to her it felt a little bit like a taunt. Because she has everyone in her life acting like she’s doing something a bit sideways by dating someone other than Max, acting like she owes him sensitivity around the issue, kind of hyping her up that there’s a big “caution” label on this situation and then she goes out of her way to be cautious and it turns out it wasn’t needed. I think it made her feel a bit stupid, almost like they’d hyped her that her love life was SO important to Max and it just wasn’t. So she’s like, please stop making me feel like this is a thing because it’s clearly not. And then similarly with Max, she was a bit like, I went out of my way to diminish this date/situation for your comfort, and it turns out you never cared in the first place. I think the whole thing just stung her ego a bit.

f1wags: lando norris' pregnant ex girlfriend y/n y/ln was pictured entering the imola paddock today. she arrived to the paddock with norris' teammate oscar piastri. this is the first time she has been in the paddock since her break up with norris.

sources say they saw y/n and oscar and y/n arrive and then logan sargeant and his girlfriend riley whittall arrive five minutes later this was when piastri and y/n parted ways as y/n went to the williams garage with whittall and sargeant.

yesterday y/n had a gender reveal for her baby boy, most of the grid and their partners were in attendance, other than lando norris who stated that he will continue to support y/n and their baby but it seems like the couple ended things on less than friendly terms as y/n is hiding in the williams garage.

f1gossip: sources confirm that it all just kicked off in the paddock. y/n y/ln (lando's pregnant ex girlfriend) and riley whittall (logan's girlfriend) were walking through the paddock when lando ran over to them and got in a heated conversation with y/n. the british driver got angry and started shouting in the pregnant woman's face. this alerted oscar and logan who were doing interviews nearby.

piastri and sargeant ran over to the group with oscar pushing y/n behind him while shouting at lando for getting in a pregnant woman's face like that and logan got lando to leave. meanwhile y/n was crying and a load of papparazzi were getting close to her so all the near by wags performed a protective group hug around her making sure no one got pictures of y/n so upset

Again. Again. Carlos could taste it on his tongue, how close he was. His body seemed to simmer with the anticipation of a feeling that had not been realized, an accomplishment not yet earned. It was worse, almost, than not being close at all.

Tenths. Tenths. Minuscule and monumental.

Fuck.

But he could do it. He would do it. It would come to him.

For now, he needed to find Lando, for his own sake as well as Lando's. He had seemed...fine, from what he'd glimpsed after the race, even laughing and joking. Certainly more so than Carlos himself. Was this to be their season, perversely complementing one another?

No. It would be him and Lando on a podium again, soon, together. The very thought made him smile. Lando would be flying to New York later that evening; he needed to be with him for that brief window of time they would have together.

When Carlos opened the hotel door, he heard Lando call, "Come help me pack, I'm freaking out!"

Carlos snorted, closing the door behind himself and kicking his shoes off. "I told you this, no, to pack last night?"

"Yeah, well, when have I ever listened to you?" Lando said, and that was a fair point. Carlos smiled as he approached Lando, squatting on one side of the open and really quite empty suitcase.

"Hi."

"Hola, como estas, yadda, yadda."

"Yadda yadda?"

"Spanish, innit?"

Carlos laughed, and Lando grinned even as he shoved unfolded clothes into the belly of the suitcase. Carlos sighed and resigned himself to helping his husband. It was frustrating, how few hours they had together, but they would see each other again soon. They packed in silence but for Lando's music playing in the background. It felt - normal. Like they might have been home in Lucerne. But it wasn't, and they weren't: they were in a hotel room in Montreal, after a race, and Lando would be taking a flight without Carlos.

"You know," Carlos said quietly, "Lewis said to me we could use his apartment in NYC if we ever wanted to get away."

Lando paused in his packing. He looked at Carlos and said, "Was he happy? With the podium?"

"I have not seen him this happy in weeks," Carlos said, and Lando nodded. Then, because they were talking about it, Carlos added: "Mi vida, I'm sorry about your race-"

Lando groaned and flipped the lid of the suitcase shut, "Agh, Jesus, Carlos, c'mon-"

"Ay, Lando-" Carlos began, but Lando cut him off.

"Yeah, it was a shit race, but whatever. We'll figure it out."

"Of course you wi-"

But Lando was grinning, so Carlos stopped his own sympathetic words short. He really did seem okay, his Lando. Huh.

"Let's talk about your race, though, yeah? That was gorgeous, mate."

Carlos smiled a little, his heart quickening. Somehow, it felt easier when Lando complimented him. He cupped Lando's cheek and kissed him softly. "Yeah," he said, "yes. It was. Could have been better, but-"

"You'll say that until the day you win," Lando pointed out. Then, smirking, he pinched Carlos' cheek. Carlos yelped and tried to push Lando away. "Aw, see though? Look at you! You can praise yourself!"

Carlos laughed and pulled away from Lando's reach, saying, "Ah, but I still like it when you praise me more, eh?"

He wiggled his eyebrows for the effect and Lando burst out laughing, pushing him down onto the ground and straddling his hips. Carlos made a small, content noise as Lando looked down at him and purred, "Mate, as long as you've tires on deck, I'm down for anything."

Carlos blinked up at Lando. He blinked again. Was his English failing him, or- "Lando. What does that mean?"

"Dunno," Lando said, grinning wider, "let's fuck."

Carlos laughed - that was romantic enough, he supposed - and pulled Lando against his chest:

"Okay."

The lack of Lando having fun seems like McLaren dumped a lot of sponsor related duties on him before and after the race and simply he doesn't have any time left to have fun... poor him.

(for the record, I don't know what he does in NYC nor what he did right before that, but the fact is before the race weekend he did a lot of sponsor stuff and he's probably flying back to UK for that Mind stream - which is quite ironic tbh - before he has to fly back for Mexican GP)
