a/n: my first JJ writing! I'm new is this fic thing and english is not my first language so don't judge to much! I know it's short cause I'm out of ideas so send me some! 3>

Cherry Cola is cold down Y/N's throat formatting a great combination with the hot wind blowing at her face. The summer is hitting just perfectly and she couldn't be more grateful for being able to use her new mini jeans skirt freely at anytime, even more grateful for moments like this, legs dangling from the garden chair as she is sitting sideways on it, heart shape sunglass on the tip of her nose, Lana's unreleased song whistling on the speaker - Girl That Got Away just finished - watching her boyfriend JJ so concentraded on fixing her car, arms tensing as he presses the tool, tank top hanging loose, looking literally hot, can notice that by the sweat running down his face and neck and chest... She knows she's being spoiled, but in defense her mind goes dead when she stares at that engine. Is clear that she didn't had the money to afford the Kia Soul's repair, but she worked to have it since she was 12 and JJ knew it better than anyone to gladly fix it for her.

She couldn't help feeling a little bit guilty as she inclines her head to see his abdomen through the shirt.

I mean... there' so much to look, can't waste that.

His abs just perfectly tonned, begging to be touched - at this point she just don't know if it's not her the one who is begging - muscles flexing with the force he's putting on the work, veins lightly at sight. Suddenly her mouth feels really dry and she needs her drink again, licking her lips, biting it a little bit with her teeth absentmindedly.

JJ came across to it cause his look shoot up for a second to catch her in the act.

"Like what you see?" he asks, cocky smile in his face, besides the hard work he seems to be enjoying his pretty girlfriend sitting there so beautifully, tight mini skirt, red bikini top, lips so tasteful between her teeth - and all because of him.

Y/N eyes grow wide before she goes back to take another sip of her Cola.

"I do" she says with a shy smirk. Getting up to stand behind JJ putting her arms around his torso.

His sweat strong body against her.

Her soft delicate skin against him.

"Do you want a Cola? Or maybe I can sneak one of my dad's beers for you." the girl ask, hands running down his arms and up to play with the hair in the back of his neck.

"That'd great, but you know what would be the greatest?" she shakes her head as no. "A sip of those pretty lips of yours" JJ turns around to meet her, holding her lips softly between his, arms tight around Y/N's body pressing it against him. She whimper in the kiss and he pull away with a groan.

"I'm almost finished" he mumbles.

"Great!" Y/N says, guiding his grease dirty hands to her ass making he squeeze it, not really caring about the stains. "I've got to give you your payment later" she adds as she leave a peck on JJ's lips before slipping out of his grip to grab the beer, making he sigh as he watches her hips sway, out of his hold.

Lana del Rey's voice singing throught the air. "Every man gets his wish..."

"I really hope you're right" JJ says to the speaker.

The sun was setting when he finally showed up, the streaks of orange and pink casting long shadows across the park. You sat on the worn wooden bench, fidgeting with the loose thread on your jacket sleeve, wondering how late he’d be this time. When you saw him jogging toward you, his messy hair damp with sweat, a faint scowl on his face, you couldn’t help but wonder if this conversation was already doomed before it began.

“Sorry,” Raichi muttered as he reached you, hands shoved into the pockets of his hoodie. “Practice ran late.”

“Again,” you said quietly, looking up at him. This was the third time in the past month his practices "ran late" on days you were supposed to hang out.

He winced, just barely. “Yeah, again.”

You both sat in silence for a moment, the air between you heavy with all the words that hadn’t been said yet. He sat beside you, his knee bouncing with nervous energy, his usual boisterousness replaced by something quieter, almost fragile.

“I wanted to talk to you,” you started, your voice trembling just enough to make him glance at you, brow furrowing.

“Is this about me leaving?” he asked bluntly.

You nodded, your throat tight. “You leave next week. For that soccer thing.” You understood how much your boyfriend loved soccer, just how good he was, but a new trial? One that didn't really have a time frame?

It was insane to you.

He exhaled sharply, leaning back on the bench. “Yeah, I do. You know that.”

“I know,” you said, twisting the thread on your sleeve until it snapped. “I just… I don’t know what happens to us when you go.”

His jaw clenched, and for a moment, you thought he wasn’t going to answer. But then he turned to you, his expression hardening. “I don’t know either. But I can’t let anything—anyone—get in the way of this. It’s my dream.”

You felt your chest tighten at his words, the air between you growing colder despite the warmth of the setting sun. “I’m not asking you to give up your dream, Raichi. I’d never ask that of you. I just… I thought we meant something to each other.”

“We do,” he said quickly, his tone almost defensive. “But this—what we have—it’s just a high school thing. It’s not…” He trailed off, struggling to find the words. “It’s not forever.”

The weight of his words hit you like a punch to the gut, leaving you breathless. “A silly high school thing,” you said softly, your voice barely audible. “Is that all this is to you?”

Raichi looked at you, his expression conflicted. “I didn’t mean it like that,” he said, his voice quieter now. “I just… I can’t let myself get distracted. If I don’t give this everything I have, what’s the point? I’ve worked too hard for this.”

You swallowed hard, tears burning at the corners of your eyes, but you refused to let them fall. “And what about me?” you asked, your voice breaking. “Do I mean so little to you that I’m just a distraction?”

He didn’t answer right away, his hands balling into fists on his lap. “I don’t know how to do this,” he admitted finally, his voice raw. “I don’t know how to care about someone without messing it up. Without hurting them.”

“Then don’t hurt me,” you said, your voice trembling. “Just… let me be here for you, Raichi.”

He shook his head, his lips pressing into a thin line. “I can’t promise that,” he said quietly. “I’m not built for that kind of thing.”

The words hung between you, heavy and final. You looked at him, searching his face for something—anything—that might give you a reason to hold on. But all you saw was his determination, his unwillingness to let anything, even you, hold him back.

“Okay,” you said finally, your voice barely audible. “If that’s how you feel, then I won’t stop you.”

Raichi’s shoulders slumped, relief and regret warring in his expression. “I’m sorry,” he said, his voice thick.

You nodded, standing up from the bench. “Me too,” you said, turning away before he could see the tears streaming down your face.

As you walked away, you couldn’t help but think of the quiet moments you’d shared—the way he’d held your hand like he was afraid to break you, the rare times he let his guard down and showed you the softer side of himself. And you realized, as the distance between you grew, that he’d never let you hold him without hurting him.

And maybe, you thought, he never would.

Girlhood Through My Eyes

Playing mermaids in the pool. Kpop posters on my wall. Lana del Rey and Stevie Nicks records playing on my record player. An ABBA CD full of their greatest hits on the desk next to the CD player I bought specifically for the Kpop albums I never listen to because the photo cards are the important part. Enjoying every season to its fullest. Spring, summer, autumn, winter, The clothes, the books, the seasonal drinks. Pumpkin spice lattes and peppermint mochas. Stuffed animals taking up every corner of my home. My childhood teddy bear on my bed and an army of Squishmallows on my couch. I’m nearly thirty but girlhood has no time limit. Enjoying things that bring me joy and loving deeply, almost obsessively. “Childish” things are for any age if you only choose to indulge. Even now, I’m writing this in a purple notebook with a PomPomPurin glitter pen. We get older but childlike wonder is everlasting. Girlhood is forever. Dreaming makes the world turn. The world is beautiful and full of beautiful people, who love with their whole heart unafraid to show it. Collecting seashells and dolls and Kpop photo cards, pouring my heart out in journal after journal. Believing in fairies and unicorns and magic. I read stories full of love and adventure and wish I was within the pages of my books until I realize… Life is already magical and adventure is everywhere, I just have to look for it.

nine favorite albums in no particular order,

Portishead - Dummy - This is probably my favorite album of all time? It's perfect to me. It makes me feel so good, physically and mentally. It's the quintessential 90s album, the definitive trip-hop album, and always makes the list of "25 Albums You Should Own On Vinyl" for a reason. It's immaculate and it spawned a slew of imitators who never ever got close to this kind of quality. I think people also don't appreciate hop much trip-hop/downtempo has influenced today's pop music. SZA's latest album especially felt super trip-hoppy, so did elements of Midnights.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine - if there's one other trip-hop album you should pick up, it's this one. This album benefits greatly from Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins' ethereal vocals. Every song on this is amazing. When I was playing this album for a friend about a decade younger, he said "oh this is the album with the music from all the movies." lol. Indeed It's been licensed to hell for a reason!

Tori Amos - Scarlet's Walk - Okay I set a rule for myself that each artist would only get one album in this list to avoid putting up nine Tori Amos albums, but Scarlet is my favorite. This road trip across America immediately after 9/11 is one of the first albums to... if not criticize the US response to 9/11, because it was really too early for that, but to be very, very wary of what the response would be. It's an album that expresses sympathy for a wounded nation, while also acknowledging the nation's sins. I think this is one of a few Tori albums that was too high concept for the mainstream audience, but Tori has never been for the mainstream audience, anyway.

Taylor Swift - evermore - Of all the Taylor Swift albums, it was reputation that brought me to the dance and Red that made me fall madly in love. But evermore is her best work. It's perfecting upon the formula she came up with in folklore. Which, don't get me wrong, I love folklore, but with Taylor's obsession with being "sonically cohesive" it's kind of a bummer of an album? I appreciate how the vibes of evermore are more varied. Also, "ivy" is the most beautiful song she's ever written.

Green Day - American Idiot - This album doesn't need much description, it's so well-known, but nothing really compares to how hard this album hit during the height of Bush Era Hell. As a 26 year old when this came out, it felt like my generation was getting our mainstream protest music, finally.

Paul Simon - Graceland - This album won the Grammy for Album of the Year for a reason: it's soooo good. I know there's a lot of drama/controversy surrounding it, but I always felt Paul approached his love of African music from a genuine place. It's such a good midlife crisis album, I understand it now more that I am in midlife than I did when I discovered it at age 12. And the bass line for "You Can Call Me Al" is fucking legendary, isn't it? PS - Paul Simon is the greatest songwriter of all time.

VNV Nation - Automatic - Why was it so hard to pick a VNV Nation album? I really kind of wanted to put last year's Electric Sun in the mix, but I need to let that sit with me before I add it to a list like this. This is the album that brought me to the dance: "Gratitude" is an all-time fave VNV song of hopefulness. "Control" is the dance club banger to end all dance club bangers. I loooooooove this band. I wish there were more futurepop bands out there, tbh, it's SUCH an excellent genre.

Lana del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell! - This is Lana's best. It's not really even close. This is one of the best albums of the 21st century. The way "The greatest" so perfectly encapsulates the Trump-era nihilism... I DO want shit to feel the way just like it used to. Kanye West IS blond and gone. We DIDN'T know that we had it all. :( The ache of nostalgia in our current very painful times hits perfectly on this record (WHYYYY don't I own it on vinyl yet??)

Puscifer - Existential Reckoning - So hard for me to pick a Maynard project and not pick TOOL, but Puscifer has become my favorite of his three bands. Existential Reckoning is similar to NFR! in that it captures the political moment. Maynard has never seemed particularly political in his music until this record, which is pretty interesting. ER seems to be advocating for a return to rationality over ideology, of moderation over extremism, of science over faith. It takes a very humanist approach to looking at life in 2020. "Apocalyptica" is probably the craziest song because it sounds like it was written about COVID, but it was not, in fact was written just a few months earlier. "Bedlamite" is the coda to the album that promises hope: It's gonna be all right. When they did this album Live at Arcosanti and sang this song while the sun rose behind them, four days before the 2020 election and Maynard crooned that it would be all right, I looked at my roommate, and I said, "it really is, isn't it?" And we both got kind of overwhelmed. And then a few days later, it was. Trump lost.

1) Share a song that makes you think of a fic

I was listening to Sia "The Greatest" pretty much non-stop while writing "Blood Ties".

Lana Del Rey "Cinnamon Girl" made me come up with "The Ghost of You" idea; Biffy Clyro "Many of Horror" is "Broken Pieces" all over. Jessie Ware "Wildest Moments" is "Business Matter". Pretty much every fic has a theme song. 😆

13) How much planning do you do before writing

That depends entirely on the fic. I usually know what happens throughout and the major emotional beats I want to hit and when, but normally not more than that.

However, for Blood Ties I spent months researching and planning, because politics.

25) Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing

I upset myself by not writing, mostly... There were definitely scenes that were aimed to be a little heartbreaking, but since I don't normally end on a sad note, there is always a comfort ending coming. So I'm more aiming to make others upset with my writing. 😈

On my forever WIP list is a fic with Ciri touching on losing Pavetta, and that will be an ouchie, which is one of the reasons I haven't touched it yet.

As for the extra question, I just have a disclaimer: I haven't been sharing any of the writers asks and tag games myself because it's been forever since I last wrote something and two forevers since I published anything. These used to be my way of flailing about my new WIPs and it's frustrating not having anything new to talk about. I'm happy to answer asks and tags, but it feels like cheating to keep talking about the same ten stories out there...
