Very cool bird! They break bones by dropping them from extraordinary heights and eat the bone fragments and the marrow inside. They bathe in springs rich in iron oxide or rub iron rich earth into their feathers, which makes them orangy-red. They are about 4 feet high - the biggest Old World vulture. Pretty sure the name means lamb killer, in German.
