Summary: Reader is a very kind and outgoing person, entire headcanons for both Treech and Lamina (separate and romantic).

Lamina:

She's a very quiet and sad tribute, so to go into the Hunger Games with her lover is so much worse for her. She would have sobbed about you not being reaped and how she would have tried harder getting home if you weren't reaped with her.

But Lamina can't control what name is pulled and at some point, accepts that.

Your sweet spirits do help her a lot but doesn't stop her from crying consistently. But it's better than constantly.

Once you both got to the monkey house, she would sit near one of the rocks, keeping to herself and keeping herself alive.

Lamina rarely left the small area she kept at, but she left it to pull you away from making friends with the other tributes. It was more so the idea you were bothering them, and she didn't want you creating enemies on accident.

She would say something about not bothering them and "think of the situation we are in". Lamina's anxiety about the entire situation you were both in caused her to ignore the fact the other tributes did enjoy your presence. Many being fond of your kindness, especially people like Lucy Gray, who was just as high spirited as you.

It happened several times more, her pulling you from making a scene out of habit, trying to befriend others just for the sake of it. At some point, she stopped trying and accepted the fact that you were becoming friends with several tributes and gaining attention in the Capital for such friendliness.

Treech:

Treech had a similar reaction to Lamina, feeling terrible that you were reaped with him. He didn't have as much of a visceral reaction, like sobbing his eyes out but he's still sad about it.

He would keep you as close as possible, trying to make sure you don't run off with other tributes because you wish to be allies.

But he doesn't mind when you become friends with the District Eight tributes while on the train. He thought it was sweet how nice you were with Wovey.

He knew for a long while that you were very friendly and outgoing since he had dated you long before the reaping. So, it isn't a surprise that you try talking to the other tributes.

Treech would only be around you when you have free time, find food, and during the night. The other times are when he's trying to find plants to eat within the enclosure or when he tries juggling small stones for food.

As time goes on, to entertain yourself outside of finding plants, you'd go around talking to Capital citizens and other tributes. Treech wouldn't be as willing to pull you away since he knew you wouldn't get hurt from both groups.

At the end of the day, you accidentally brought attention to yourself, but it ended in being fed. So, Treech didn't mind it too much.

Headcanon that Lamina overheard the Sejanus/Coriolanus conversation in the area, especially the "I wanna die in protest" and "if I believe in what I say I need to end take responsibility and end this atrocity" parts and as soon as she knew it was over for her, in the split second between being stabbed and dying in a fall, she was comorted by what he had said. She knew there was at least one person in the capitol that viewed her as a human and would fight so that more kids wouldn't share her fate.

dill and reaper r cousins, they live in the same house bc reapers mother wouldn’t let him come back to live with her after he got out of juvie or something i haven’t put too much thought into this, other than them the people in the household r their grandparents, dills parents, and dills older siblings, as well as two dogs

tanner and brandy r twins, brandy’s older, they have two younger sisters, their parents should definitely be divorced but they won’t fsr. on their farm they have a few chickens, a herd of cows, and two horses

lucy gray obvs lives with the covey, her parents r still dead tho I’m not sure quite what killed them in this universe but its not that important. idk if they have confirmed ages but i made barb azure the oldest. barb azures gf is over to their home so frequently that she doesn’t even bother knocking b4 coming in

teslee lives with her mother, and two older siblings, she took over the garage for her projects, one time her sibling tried to park their car in the garage and she screamed at them for thirty minutes bc they knocked over one of her drones 🎀

circ is teslees cousin, he lives with his parents and siblings, two older, one younger, also haven’t put a whole lot of thought into him and teslee bc i only recently realized how silly they were 💔

bobbin and wovey r cousins, wovey and her older brother moved in with bobbin and his parents after their parents died. bobbin takes his job of protecting his little cousin at school very seriously, they’re very close

lamina always wanted a little sibling but never got one so she borrows corals 🫶 mizzen doesn’t mind being assigned a second older sister except for when lamina tries to get him to let her do his makeup (a well placed bribe of candy can convince him to let her on occasion, treech saved a picture for blackmail 🎀)

the pack as a friend group includes lamina and brandy, lamina and coral get along pretty well in this universe

if mizzen decides you have wronged him he will never forget about it, he still brings up the time treech accidentally hit him in the face with a door like four years later

teslee, dill, and circ have been friends since elementary school, they haven’t been in any classes together since sixth grade tho bc teslee and circ r both in advanced classes and dill is in remedial english bc of her undiagnosed dyslexia

mizzen is a weird kid, he’s been bullied pretty much since he started going to school, this leads him to get in a fights, which is why he was expelled from his first middle school 🎀

dill and mizzen have remedial english together bc both of them r dyslexic

sejanus’s ma teaches english and remedial english at their school

coral is the captain of her schools swim team

reaper and coral aren’t exactly friends but if they run into each other they’ll chat

mizzen and dill both thought the other hated them when they first met

cc takes orchestra a bit too seriously, if he hears u refer to a viola as a violin or something he may jump u

bobbin is in robotics with circ which is how they met, bobbin was once asked to sit out of a robotics competition bc he was too competitive and started swearing at the other team when they accidentally broke off a piece of his teams robot

teslee is in advanced english with cc, cc loves creative writing and teslee likes analyzing books. teslee and cc are friends but that all goes out the window when it comes to their grade in this class, teslee gets very upset when he gets a better grade than her on an assignment and cc has that little brother tendency to tease her when this happens. they aren’t allowed to sit beside each other anymore

mizzen and teslee have beef but they have to tolerate each other bc they’re both close friends with dill

coral has mommy issues bc her mom’s lowkey a narcissist and refuses to get therapy for the generational trauma shes passing on to coral and mizzen 🎀

brandy is the fastest to crash out when someones bothering her, if she doesn’t like you she will make sure yk and she will start throwing hands with no warning

teslee secured an internship with beetee for during her freshman year next year and she won’t stop talking about it

reaper loves painting flowers, he keeps his watercolor palette on his person at all times

coral had a huge crush on persephone at one point but she never said anything and their friendship started to fade

mizzen does NOT know how to care for himself, his skin is sun damaged, his lips are perpetually cracked, his hair is outrageously dry from how much time he spends in salt water

dill and reapers family are the caretakers for a graveyard, they live in a house in the graveyard and reaper helps to dig the graves, dill’s embarrassed of living in a grave yard and has never invited anyone to her house b4

wovey likes making friendship bracelets, all of her friends have at least four bracelets by this point

dill’s that one friend whos out of school sick like every other week, one time she had to be hospitalized and mizzen skipped school to come hang out with her

bobbin likes sewing, he makes outfits for mizzens cat sometimes

Some treech thoughts

(because I have been thinking about him for two days at this point and it seems like I have fallen in the rabbit hole you can thank @moreespressoformydepresso for that what have you done to me?)( some of these are inspired by her ideas)

So hiroki mentioned in his interview that treech is a middle child in a matriarchal household and he worked at the lumber industry since he was young so I decided to expand on this

- the matriarch of the family is his aunt Agatha who raised his father and is the one giving orders in the family, she and treech have a distant relationship as she tends to compare him to his older siblings axel and ashie and have too high expectations towards her niece's and nephews she also doesn't approve of his stealing and try to get him to stop though that one is more out of concern of the consequences that would happen to him if he was caught

- he has two little sisters named willow and blossom who he's very close to and very protective towards , the three of them perform on the streets of the wealther section of District 7 to earn a little bit more money, treech perform tricks, willow dances and blossom sing

- he's kinda destined towards axel due to axel being the type of brother that constantly criticises his siblings despite that he doesn't let anyone get away with insulting his brother and he stayed by his side when axel was once whipped and axel returned the gesture when treech got whipped

- like playing on the harmonica and using the wood and trees as his personal drums to make the lumber yard a bit more cheery

- have friends who help him steal and hide food from the peacekeepers

- is very protective of blossom as she's the youngest and also she received a lot of bullying and cruelty due to her " strange behaviour" he also gives her parts of his food and collects berries especially for her

His father can't work full time because he lost his arm during the bombing of district 7 so he either sells treechs and ashie wood crafts or he tends to the home

His mother is in fact from district 4 and moved to district 7 back when travelling between districts was allowed , she fishes for a small fish shop

- because of this treech is actually a very good swimmer and is good at fishing he sometimes makes nets with his ma

- love to tell stories and sing lullabies for willow and blossom

- to say that he was seeing red when blossom once came home bruised and beaten due to the peacekeepers would be an understatement to take revenge on them he and his friends stole a huge chunk of their supplies and missed up things in their base

- he and lamina have been friends since they were little and he often shared his stolen loot with her but when lamina was adopted by a more well off family and moved to the oaks ( the wealthy section of District 7) he started to feel insecure that she wouldn't want to hang out with him anymore or that she might feel ashamed to be seen with him especially when she started befriending people from the oaks even though he knows lamina wouldn't do that he still can't help but feel insecure about that he didn't tell anyone but blossom about this

( since hiroki is Japanese and there is a headcanon for district 4 having Asian influence I decided to add those)

- his mother makes them rice balls when they are able to afford rice (or when he steals it)

- his family also eats using chopsticks

Random idea/headcanon idea I had for Lamina that essentially just combines her looks from the movie and the book, but what if she dyed her hair?

It could be something like a tradition for her family? I admit this probably wouldn’t play much into her character but could be a cool narrative choice.

But I imagine it would be interesting if the dye starts to fade during the Games or something? Because then we get her hair being blonde but also red at the same time?

Miphlink Week 2024: Gala

So I already had done a drawing of them dancing earlier this year, I decided to spice it up by instead of drawing a slow dance between the two of them, I would have them dancing much more joyfully as a family.

Low and beyond, kid! I have yet to actually post (or create) a sheet for the kid, but for a name I'm thinking Lamina. The name could change though, I'm still deciding.

For some design details, since this would be a Zora/Hylian child, I tried to pull some elements from Link as well. I went with the obvious blue eyes, longer legs, and elements of yellow as a homage to his blond hair, as well as including a third ear fin on her left side. As she ages the fin should look more like a loose hair bang, similar to the one on Link's forehead.

I then thought to include his original earrings and hairband, thinking that once Link upgraded to royal jewelry, he passed his original jewelry down to any children he has. So Lamina has her ear fin pierced, and the hairband design was reincorporated into a band fit to hold up her Zora crest, kinda like a hair pin.

As for Mipha, I gave her Mipha's beta design dress, as well as a tiara that's identical to Mipha's before upgrading to a full crown. Lamina also inherited the dots on her knees from her, only difference being the more diamond shape. The belt is also a combination of Link and Mipha's, having Link's diamond shaped buckle with Mipha's side crest and hanging diamond bits.

As for Mipha herself, she's got the crown! I figure she's already been crowned as Queen, leading to her new outfit. Similar to Sidon in TotK, she's got the same crown and chest guard thing, but instead of his whistle thingy, she's got the same necklace piece as Link's zora armor. I once saw a headcanon from someone who said that was their family crest, the diamond coming from Link and the crescent parts coming from Mipha, and I loved that, so I tried to incorporate diamonds into their designs. I just wish I could find that post again.

based on my asian fancast post! I feel like this one is a lot more awaited due to the content consume AND post on here!

this is much messier than the victors sketch, so I apologize for that! I was moving things around to fit the d4 characters in the bottom :(

rant to elaborate on my previous post …

so my point was, that tanner received the fandom treatment that reaper & jessup deserved, but this is just simplified.

reaper and jessup themselves are pretty popular and relevant characters in tbosas fandom, but most of the time when I see stuff about them, it’s very surface level.

meanwhile for tanner, which is way less relevant in the story of tbosas, probably out of every main tribute, i’ve seen people provide way more over-analysis of his character and behaviour (i am 100% included) that I feel like are a bit unnecessary and is, at the end, overlapping reaper and jessup’s character traits. one part of the fandom refuses to look past his dancing over lamina’s dead body in the book storyline, and the other part is trying *too* hard to make him seem entirely innocent. but that’s just common fandom behaviour, i’ve seen multiple other characters receiving the same treatment.

but tanner is depicted negatively in the book and in the movie, showed to be lacking of empathy and eager about killing (ranting about slaughterhouse methods in his interview) while reaper and jessup are characters that are depicted positively, and are both separately very interesting characters. reaper also tried to attack people, and in the book, apologised to the other tributes for having to kill them in the arena, but then promised that their death wouldn’t be meaningless, and he then performed a rebellious act in the arena by tearing down the capitol’s flag and forming a morgue with the deceased tribute’s bodies, which is the most important act of the 10th hunger games , but people seem to look past that. i have personally barely seen anyone try and give it an over-analysis like they would do to their favs!

jessup on the other hand was shown to be protective of lucy gray since the beginning, and jumped over lysistrata to protect her from the arena’s bombing. and he also had one of the most interesting character plots, having rabies, that he passed to reaper in the zoo, at least in the books. his death was also very interesting, on how it affected lysistrata, and her words about him.

as for fandom treatment, i’m mostly talking about pure “fandom” stuff. I can’t blame people for not having them as favourite characters, but it feels very exclusive to barely ever see reaper or jessup included in fanworks, such as fanfiction, which is very popular in the TBOSAS fandom. to continue about fanfiction, i’ve also been noticing a lack of pairing containing the two characters (separately), while both being very interesting and good natured characters, or if they are in a pairing, it is very overlooked. meanwhile people have no problem shipping tanner with, i could say, anyone, while being almost… antisocial.

this just doesn’t make lots of sense to me, how quick people will say oh tanner is actually very caring, oh he was kind, his dance over someone’s literal dead body had a deeper meaning, could be rebellious, etc… im all for headcanons, do what you want, but those headcanons that most apply to tanner, are actually closer to reaper and jessup’s characters.

this is NOT to force anyone to do anything. this is just my personal observation in this fandom. maybe it’s just since i talk a lot about tanner, most stuff I see is around him. i just find the lack of consideration for such good written and interesting characters such as reaper & jessup a big waste, especially if you’re gonna applicate it to a very less relevant character.

Hunger Games Relationship Dynamics Headcanons

SPOILERS FOR ALL HUNGER GAMES CONTENT, FROM THE OG TRIOLOGY TO TBOSAS

Yes, these are my personal headcanons of specific characters and the dynamic/relationship between them.

-Post Mockingjay, Peeta and Katniss developed a parallel play type of routine to help them feel stabilized on bad days (being around one another and doing ones own thing without necessarily taking)

-Peeta enjoys watching the leaves change color, Katniss likes watching the rain fall

-In my head, Clove and Cato have a rivals to friends/maybe lovers dynamic between them. Both felt like they had to one up the other, and almost all of their interactions ended with them in a physical fight.

-After one particular argument, Cato revealed a dark secret of his to Clove in an attempt to get her to leave. It worked, however, Clove began keeping an eye on Cato to make sure he was okay, developing a sense of care and worry for him. Cato noticed the change and didn't acknowledge it to her, but he nonetheless appreciated it. -Lamina and Treech are friends of friends. They got acquainted when their friends began dating, causing an acquaintanceship to form between them. -Lamina viewed Treech and herself as friends, while Treech saw her as someone nice he knew for a while. It was only when they were reaped together that he began questioning that thought. -The reason District 11's has a tight familial bond with one another comes from the over policing by Peacekeepers. Because of the tight rules and unfair treatment from Peacekeepers, people in District 11 are very protective of each other, not trusting anyone outside of 11.

I’ve been thinking a lot about who Treech and Lamina are and their relationship to each other and mostly the downfall of it. I wanted to put all those thoughts down into one place and I always enjoy reading character analyses so I thought I’d share!

To preface, this is my own personal take on them and an insight to the way I write them in fics. This is entirely the movie side of them. I enjoy their book versions, but the movie created a very compelling relationship that I have yet to move on from. I would love to hear other thoughts and opinions so please don’t hesitate to share if you feel the need to!

To start, I view them as childhood friends. There are a few options of how I think their relationship could have gone (that is to say developing into a romantic relationship or staying friends) pre-hunger games, but I know that in all of them, they care deeply about the other.

Individually, this is how I write them:

Treech:

To me, Treech is the oldest of two younger sisters and the burden of that is a defining part of his character. His entire family is still intact and that also weighs heavy on him. I think he lives in fear of what could happen to him, his family, and everything he cares about. This leads to an attempt at trying to care about as few people as possible. He tries to keep his head down and mind his own. He keeps everyone at arms-length. He has friends but they are shallow relationships and only viewed as people to spend time with. He will not do anything to put his life and his family’s life at risk. They get by and in that world, have a good life. He is not going to be the one to ruin that. He has not lost anything of value in his life and in turn, that makes him terrified.

Treech has never lost anyone. He doesn’t know how he would react to grief. It terrifies him because he’s never done it. As much as he tries not to he loves deeply, but he is so afraid of loving more than necessary because he has never lost, and when you live in the world they do, losing is inevitable and simply a matter of waiting.

I view him as a slave to self-imposed duty, someone who would sacrifice anything for the few people he loves (*cough cough* his own innocence), as well as someone with an unhealthy dose of self-hatred.

I think Treech is constantly fighting with himself. His dislike for himself, his inability to allow himself to be close to people and his unwavering kindness and sense of duty are in direct opposition of each other at all times. Everything in him is always fighting to gain the power and it really is just a matter of what day it is as to which trait is the strongest.

He is not consistent with his thoughts and feelings and switches up very easily. He’s hard to get a read on because you think you understand him and you do but only for that moment because the next minute he feels the opposite way.

I think Treech views himself as uninfluential and not really someone of any consequence, which to me is why he becomes so infatuated with Lamina.

Lamina:

Lamina lost a mother during the war, and later two older twin brothers who were rebels and died because of that. It is just her and her father (which in my head also meets the headcanon of why she is better dressed than Treech; family of two vs. family of five). Where Treech has never lost anyone he’s loved, Lamina has lost nearly everyone. While a lot of times this would make someone cold, it makes Lamina even more determined to relish in the things she values. She loves, and she refuses to lessen that love just because she may lose it.

I think when you lose someone, it forces you to face not only your own mortality but also everyone else’s. Lamina takes that mortality and instead of being scared of it promises to make the most of it. Not only that but I think it makes you even more confident in your own strength. If you can get through the loss of someone you love, I think there are very few things you can’t get through. Lamina knows this and she knows how she reacts to grief. She trusts that she has the strength to love and lose because she has done it— multiple times— and she has survived.

I think Lamina is wickedly smart and enjoys learning. I view her as someone who is extremely emotionally intelligent and mature, but for all her confidence in her strength, I think she is also insecure. Typically, I find that people with that kind of maturity at such a young age are ostracized because their peers simply aren’t at that level yet and most of the time what kids don’t understand they label as weird. I think Lamina became very used to the feeling of being alone and at times fed into the notion that her differences were bad. I imagine Treech was the first person to ever treat her intelligence as something that is simply “cool” and not something that makes her incapable of being a kid.

I picture Lamina as someone who is cohesive and a flowing picture of all of her different traits. She accepts each one for what it is and allows it to do its job in her life. She tries to always be better but she doesn’t drown in her faults.

Notice how above I say often “this is what they think about themselves”. They think certain ways about themselves when the opposite is true. Perspective!

In actuality, Treech is strong in his devotions and uneasily swayed from them. He views himself as weak-minded when really he is so stuck in his views he cannot change. He believes that keeping everyone at arms length will keep his heart safe when in reality it does more harm than good. He thinks he is of no consequence to anyone, tries so hard to not cause any trouble, yet makes an impact on every person he’s come into contact with. I believe Treech’s number one character trait is that he is kind. It’s in his nature to help and I think he physically cannot stop himself. It’s just something that happens. It’ll be one instance that he thinks means nothing but means everything to someone else (i.e. being kind to Lamina as children is something he doesn’t even think of because “anyone would do this” yet none of their peers had ever done it before). He thinks he’s inconsequential but he impacts people without even knowing it.

Lamina believes she is unnerving to others when in reality she has that kind of spark that makes it hard to look away. Think about those people who are inexplicably infatuating. So yeah, in a way she is unnerving, but only because you can’t help but notice her. She’s an enigma who’s been labeled as weird.

However, I don’t think they are that different from each other. Instead, I think it is the way they go about those similarities that make them different.

For example:

Treech is kind and he wants so badly not to be. Lamina is kind and wishes she were more so. Where she sees her kindness and empathy as a strength, Treech views his as a weakness.

I think they both are intense about their love, but where one runs from the strength of his love, the other does everything she can to make it stronger.

They both are fiercely loyal. Treech tries to limit that loyalty to his family, but Lamina wishes to give it to everyone.

The ironic part about this is that the traits Treech sees as faults in himself he sees as otherworldly in Lamina. (Perspective 😍)

I picture Treech to have almost in a sense placed Lamina atop a pedestal. She is everything he wishes he were; open, free, and believing in good. Lamina in his eyes is something he is unworthy of, but also something he thinks would ruin him should he ever lose it. She is something to be protected but never touched.

This is so unhealthy though, because it’s impossible to be in a relationship with someone you don’t view as an equal.

Lamina, however, grounded sweetheart that she is, views Treech as human. She adores him for all that he is— good and bad. She adores him for his kindness and for his fearfulness. Lamina values Treech because she values every living being. But she loves him because he is Treech.

However, the downside of this is that I imagine she lets him get away with many things because he was the first person outside of her family to be kind for the sake of being kind. I think Treech would reject a lot of her attempts at getting closer and refuse to admit how much he cares about her. I think Lamina, who is so declarative with her love and wants the same back, is only able to look past this because she convinces herself that the only thing that matters about him is his kindness. Kindness she has been a firsthand witness to and kindness that impacted her at a young age. She’s seen the good in him and refuses to let that good be outshined by all his bad, even if that means becoming a bit of a doormat for his bad habits.

Lamina grows to love Treech over a period of time as she forces herself to push past all his flaws. Treech loves her in an instant because he can’t help himself.

This plays into the part above where I talked about how Treech thinks he doesn’t impact anyone when in reality it’s impossible for him not to and how Lamina has that quality about her that forces everyone to at least look at her.

When Treech shows Lamina that first act of kindness as kids, he impacts her life in a way that makes it impossible for her to not want to know him. Lamina inherently has that quality about her, the quality that makes people want to know her, and Treech, guarded, closed-off Treech, is unable to escape her pull.

In my head, there is literally no world where they don’t immediately mean something to each other, because it is literally engraved into who they are. Treech impacts everyone, Lamina forces everyone to impact her.

In a perfect world, Treech goes to therapy for his self-hatred and Lamina gains a little bit of self-worth (i.e. tells Treech to figure his shit out instead of taking it out on her) however they live in Panem and that is not possible.

Thus their downfall.
