hello hello!! may I please request steve n hawkins where he’s a little bit more overprotective over her with billy—and she actually just lets him be? haha hope that makes sense and thank you so much for sharing your work!!
“Has Hargrove been buggin’ you again?”
Steve slung a leg over the bench, sliding in beside you. He set you with a soft look, even though his brows were furrowed. Worried. His hand reached out to touch, fingers skimming underneath your T-shirt to graze at your waist.
You thought about lying. You didn’t want to upset him, but you’d told Robin, a frustrated complaint late last night before bed ‘cause Billy wouldn’t shut up after Jason got sick and Murray set him on schedule with you.
“Princess…”
Robin must’ve told Steve. You sighed, not annoyed, but tired. Pushing away your lunch, you glanced across the table at Nancy who nodded in understanding. She murmured a goodbye and went off in search for trouble to break up, making a beeline for Dustin Henderson’s table, ‘cause Eddie (who was supposed to be on lunch duty) was too busy talking to the new girl.
Steve squeezed at your hip, waiting for an answer. You shrugged, your smile weak as a little defeated, ‘cause you didn’t want Steve to see how much the other boy was bothering you. As much as the bloody and rugged look suited your boyfriend, the deduction in wages wasn’t ideal, not when you were both saving up for a place together.
“When isn’t he?” You tried to joke, but Steve’s frown furrowed deeper. “Babe, it’s fine. It’s Billy. He’s… Billy.”
But Steve didn’t let it go. He saw the downturn of your lips, the way you leaned into his touch for comfort. “What’s he been saying?”
He wasn’t sure he wanted to know.
“You don’t want to know.” It’s like you could read his mind. The corner of Steve’s lips ticked up. “You’d push him in the lake or something stupid.”
Steve leaned in, chin hooked on your shoulder, nose nudging at your cheek, the closet he’d get to giving you a kiss with all the kids around. “That sounds pretty tame,” he commented.
“You wouldn’t let him back up,” you added, smiling.
Steve grinned, his hand bumping up the side of your ribs, ghosting too close to the band of your bra and you squirmed, shooting him a look that said, ‘behave.’
“You’ll tell me, though?” Steve asked, voice dropping to a low murmur, thumb soothing over the skin on your stomach. You turned into him, nose nudging his and you knew you would only be granted seconds of the closeness before some kid threw food at you both. “You’ll let me know if he takes it too far?”
You nodded, smiling, eyes drooping prettily, that soft, fond way that Steve fucking adored, ‘cause you only did it for him.
And then—
The mess hall doors slammed hard enough against the walls that several kids jumped. And rightfully so. Billy strolled in, sunglasses still on and wearing a denim jacket instead of his staff T-shirt. He bypassed Eddie who rolled his eyes at him, stole a slice of pizza from Mike Wheeler’s page and walked right up to where you and Steve were sitting.
Billy tore off a piece of the crust, grinning at you as he chewed and he looked ready to say something, something lewd, especially for Steve to hear. You braced yourself, eyes bored looking as you stared back at him, chin lifted. But before Billy could say a word, Steve cut him off, pulling you closer into the space between his legs as he did.
“Say one more word to my girl, Hargrove, and I’ll make sure Murray finds a reason to search your cabin again.”
Billy stared, eyes narrowed but still smiling. He was pissed off, you could tell. So could Steve, but the boy hid it with sardonic amusement.
“Is that right? Feelin’ like a big boy with your girl beside you, huh?
From the corner of your eye, you saw Eddie move closer, weaving between tables without drawing the kids attention. Steve met his gaze, eyes flicking from Billy’s just enough to nod at his friend. ‘Wait’, it said, ‘it’s fine.’
Eddie stilled.
Steve turned back to Billy, shrugging as he lay a wide, warm palm on your bare thigh. It felt protective, not possessive.
“Would be weird if he found some snow in July, wouldn’t it?” Steve shot him a look of faux confusion, but he tapped at his nose knowingly.
Billy glared. But he took a step back, throwing his half eaten pizza on top of your lunch tray.
“Whatever, Harrington.”

THEY SAID I DID SOMETHING BAD: a musical about the life and times of the unabomer, by taylor swift.
(Spotify Link) (Inspiration, provided by @significationary)
[Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on this guy, although I have notated which changes I made and cited my sources down at the bottom. I also tried to include at least one song from every Taylor Swift album. Feel free to suggest other songs I could have used!]
ACT I: OUR COMING OF AGE HAS COME AND GONE
I Did Something Bad — Having attempted suicide while in police custody, Ted Kaczynski prepares for trial, refusing to let his lawyers use the insanity defense. In the end, after a failed attempt at representing himself, Ted pleads guilty to 13 federal charges in exchange for life in prison.
They say I did something bad, Then why’s it feel so good? Most fun I ever had! And I’d do it over and over and over again If I could…
seven / this is me trying (mashup) - As a small child, Ted is hospitalized and isolated following an allergic reaction; reports allege this had a strong effect on his personality. Nevertheless, Ted's younger brother, David, describes him as kind and protective. Ted skips two grades in his early schooling, but is othered for being smaller than the other children and too “different” due to his intelligence. At 16, Ted goes to Harvard on a scholarship to study math.
Please picture me In the trees I hit my peak at seven feet In the swing Over the creek I was too scared to jump in… And I just wanted you to know that this is me trying…
Tell Me Why - While at Harvard, Ted is subjected to repeated verbal abuse by his professor, Henry A. Murray, who was part of a CIA program code-named Project MK-Ultra. The program sought to understand how to implement mind-control techniques, including using drugs such as LSD, although there is no evidence that Ted was ever drugged while at Harvard.
Here's to you and your temper Yes, I remember what you said last night And I know that you see what you're doing to me Tell me why
Guilty as Sin? - In 1966, Ted experiences an intense sexual desire to become a woman, even deciding to undergo gender transition.
I keep these longings locked, In lowercase inside a vault…
I Hate It Here - Upon arriving at his therapy appointment to begin transitioning, however, Ted changes his mind, and never mentions to the psychiatrist why he originally wanted to meet. Afterward, he considers killing the psychiatrist and several other people.
I hate it here so I will go to secret gardens in my mind People need a key to get to The only one is mine I read about it in a book when I was a precocious child No mid-sized city hopes and small town fears I'm there most of the year Cause I hate it here...
this is me trying (reprise) - After graduating, Ted gets a teaching job at Berkeley, but has a hard time delivering lectures and avoids his students. He suddenly resigns from his position in 1969.
They told me all of my cages were mental, So I got wasted like all my potential…
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart - Ted moves back to Chicago to work at the same factory as his brother and begins a relationship with a woman at work. Due to Ted’s sexual harassment of her following a sour breakup, David, his supervisor, has to fire him.* Ted moves to Montana into a cabin him and his brother had built.
I can read your mind… “She’s having the time of his life…” There in her glittering prime The lights refract sequined stars off her silhouette every night I can show you lies...
ACT II: AND IN THE DEATH OF HER REPUTATION, SHE FELT TRULY ALIVE
the lakes / I Hate It Here (Reprise) / Clean - In his cabin, Ted lives in near-total isolation, hunting and growing his own food, and spending much of his time reading. It is here Ted develops his anti-government, anti-technology philosophy.
I'm not cut out for all these cynical clones These hunters with cell phones… Ten months older, I won't give in Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it So take me to the lakes, I hate it here…
I Know Places - Ted, trying to convince his brother to join him, reminiscences on them building this cabin together.]
Baby, I know places we won't be found, and They'll be chasing their tails trying to track us down 'Cause I, I know places we can hide…
closure - As Ted becomes increasingly unhinged, the letters between him and his brother grow increasingly fraught, and the waits between them increasingly long. David invites Ted back to civilization but Ted refuses, thinking David is simply ashamed of having a “failed” brother.
Don't treat me like some situation that needs to be handled I'm fine with my spite And my tears And my beers and my candles…
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? - Between 1978 and 1996, Ted sends 16 bombs to various universities, airlines, computer stores, and industry figures. He kills three people and injures many more.
I was tame, I was gentle 'til the circus life made me mean "Don't you worry, folks, we took out all her teeth" Who's afraid of little old me? Well, you should be
ACT III: FROM HOUSE TO CARDIAC ARREST
Cold as You / Dear John (mashup)- David reads the Unabomber’s manifesto in the newspaper and recognizes the writing style and ideas as those of his brother. After reflecting on his strained relationship with Ted, David turns him in to the FBI and uses the reward money to set up the Unabom Survivors Fund.
And you'll add my name to your long list of traitors Who don't understand And I'll look back and regret how I ignored when they said "Run as fast as you can" And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through I've never been anywhere cold as you
Who’s Afraid (Reprise) / Look What You Made Me Do - On April 3, 1996, federal investigators arrested Kaczynski at his cabin in Montana.
Oo, look what you made me do Look what you made me do Look what you just made me do Look what you just made me...
Cassandra - In his cell, Ted reflects on the growing popularity of the ideas expressed in his manifesto.**
So, they filled my cell with snakes, I regret to say Do you believe me now?
exile / The Last Time - David and Ted have their last conversation. During the trial, Ted never makes eye contact nor speaks to his family. In prison, he never answers their letters.
This is the last time I'm asking you this Put my name at the top of your list This is the last time I'm asking you why You break my heart in the blink of an eye, eye, eye All this time I never learned to read your mind (never learned to read my mind) I couldn't turn things around (you never turned things around) 'Cause you never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs) So many signs, so many signs…
hoax - Alone in his cell, Ted reflects on his brother’s betrayal.
You knew the password, so I let you in the door You knew you won, so what's the point of keeping score? You knew it still hurts underneath my scars From when they pulled me apart But what you did was just as dark
Dear Reader / ME! - In June of 2023, Ted is found unresponsive and is pronounced dead later that day. The death is officially ruled a suicide. Inside his cell, guards find a letter — a suicide note? A letter to a fan? No one can say for certain.
You should find another guiding light Guiding light But I shine so bright I promise that you’ll never find another like me!
---------
* In reality, Ted moves to his cabin in Montana in the early 1970s, and doesn’t return to Chicago until 1978. I switched these events around for the sake of imaginary time constraints and to produce a more streamlined narrative.
** If you’ve ever heard the meme “The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race,” this is where it comes from.

Day 11 - Rocky Mountaineer part 1
I'm behind again! Mostly because I've been busy experiencing stuff, and not connected to tech!!
Anyway, Day 10 started pretty early - coach pick up at the hotel was 7:50am, but our luggage had to be outside our rooms for collection an hour before that.
Our coach was the first to arrive at the station, so we had about half an hour to hang around before the welcome (which involved bagpipes), and then boarding.
(This is a Gold Leaf carriage - I was travelling on Silver Leaf)
We set off at 8am, and while we were still slowly trundling out of Vancouver the first refreshments were served - coffee and tea, then a 2 course breakfast!
We had an unexpected and sudden stop when the emergency brake was pulled due to "an issue with the crossing ahead." Not sure what the issue was, but when the emergency brake is pulled the whole length of train has to be walked to check the brake has been released. I think we were stopped for about 10 minutes.
(The stop also caused a service cart at the back of our carriage to topple. These carts basically never to that, so this was definitely unusual according to our 3 cabin hosts!)
Not long after that we had a glimpse of Mt Barker (which is over the border in the US - Washington).
At this point I feel the need to point out 2 important things: 1. I took over 200 photos today 2. All photos were taken through the windows of the train, and are therefore subject to reflections off the glass - watch out for the little UFOs, they are reflections of the lights in the carriage ceiling!
I also should point out seeing mountains like these is kinda exciting for me - Australia's mountains aren't like this! And the train follows the Fraser River pretty closely. The grey-green colour of the water is apparently due to the sediments it carries - they never get a chance to settle.
Speaking of colours . . . this mixture of blues and greens is because it's part of where the Fraser meets the Thomson River, which the train then follows to our eventual overnight stop in Kamloops.
This train trip is like being in a moving restaurant - we were supplied with drinks and a snack, then a 3 course lunch by the time we hit this point!
Rainbow Canyon - the colours of the rocks caused by oxidation of iron, copper and sulfur (I think that's what they said!)
I was really on the wrong side of the train to get shots of the rapids on the Thompson, where some of the rocks have names! Can you spot the rock called the frog? (right pic above)
Murray Creek Falls . . .
On one of our many stops while waiting on a siding for a freight train to pass in the opposite direction, we had a Bald Eagle circling beside us. Not easy to snap pics!
Somewhere near Black Canyon we had one of the best chances to shoot pics of the front of the train - my carriage was the second last of 22 "pieces of equipment" (engine, carriages inc non-passenger cars), and the last passenger car. (I still had trouble getting a decent shot without reflections or telephone wires in the way!)
We spent much of the day spotting Osprey nests! (And one or two eagle nests)
Does anyone recognise Rainbow Bluffs? Apparently they appeared in the X-Files. (right pic above)
After many, many delays pulling into sidings for freight trains (the two I counted cars for were 150 and 194 cars long - so not short trains!), and our afternoon snack and drink, we finally came up along Kamloops Lake. Lots of winding track as the train closely follows the shoreline.
And that's my 30 image limit!
We were late getting into Kamloops - so many stops along the way we even got a second afternoon snack!! So, when we finally reached our hotels it was around 9pm. That's basically a 13hr train trip! Certainly not boring though.

Tuesday 4th July 2023
We packed all our things into the Toyota and left our hillbilly cabin behind in a cloud of dust. We've had a great stay here; a great choice for peace and tranquility away from town. We were less than two hours drive from our next 3 night stop in Banff so we stopped off in Golden to do a bit of shopping and enjoy a birthday lunch in the Island Restaurant which was most acceptable. Mexican day produced battered fish wrapped in a tortilla with salsa, rice and black beans.
The sun shone and as soon its rays peeped over the mountain tops the temperature climbed to 28°. The further we drove east, entering Alberta, so the clouds began to gather and temperatures plummeted dramatically to just 11°, then the deluge began. As we checked into the hotel in Banff, the final ignominy was a tremendous clap of thunder. Sitting in our hotel apartment waiting for the rain to stop, we watched Murray beat little Peniston at Wimbledon.
Our route from Golden to Banff had taken us first to Lake Louise which is on our hit list to visit so we thought it opportune to call in before travelling a further 45mins to Banff. So we, against all prompting from Mrs Google, took the exit for the Lake. Following the encouragement from traffic directors every 100m we drew nearer and nearer to our destination. Car park after car park was full, and we were waived passed each one until we reached the point where we started to come back again. Lake Louise was at capacity. Apparently if you don't check in by 7.30am, you won't get in. We will get a tour we think.
It might be interesting getting views of the good people of Alberta. One of our hosts in BC was extremely dismissive and critical of Alberta and the aloofness regarding their oil exports especially when it came to cutting through their hillsides laying an oil pipeline. We spoke to some locals Martine met outside the public washrooms who said that BC liberals need to get a grip and live in the real world. Alberta supplies almost all of Canada's oil without which the economy would be crippled, they said. I sense there is more under the surface to look out for.
Now settled into our apartment hotel we thought we'd take a stroll downtown for a beer and get the courtesy bus back. We chose the Banff Avenue Brewing Company and had a pint of Black Pilsner which slipped down a treat. What would go down better following a good pint than chips. McDonald's was inexplicably shut, but we found a Popeye's which delivered the goods, Cajun Chips. Excellent.
Crammed into the over full bus back to the hotel; bodies everywhere, Martine was offered a seat. I with a birthday was not.

Currently, imagining Mike hiding out in his basement from the hellfire mob and Will and EL join because well they're kinda hiding from the government and the love triangle becomes more angsty and that's how we get the "what painting?" question. Then again that's not the best place to hide out but i need something like that. Maybe Murray's bunker idk.
oooh tbh good point about mike’s house/basement potentially not being so safe after all with the mob 👀
and I’m always team lover’s lake for a big byler scene but I personally wouldn’t want el to be at that one 🤔 so yeah tricky. I legit can still never decide how I see the painting plot unfolding but having el actually there is a new thought, I feel like will would need to step away once mike realised, it’d be too much :(( (and people have theorised byler being separated by the supernatural before the painting plot being resolved so!! potential if he walks out)
hop’s cabin is considered safe but our characters don’t know the basketball team know where it is now so that could lead to some chaos since mike was trying to hide!

Stancy: why their probably endgame and why that’s a good thing (especially for Nancy and her character arc)
Throughout the series Nancy remains guilty for ‘murdering Barb’. While Nancy was losing her virginity, Barbra was sucked into the upside down. She completely blames herself, and whether she realizes or not, she’s always associated that guilt with Steve. We see this in different scenes, notably when she’s drunk at that party in ST2 episode 2, she yells at Steve, “You’re pretending like everything is okay. You know, like, like we didn’t kill Barb!”
She’s seen again having the same conversation, though soberly, with Jonathan in episode 3. “All this time I’ve been trying so hard to pretend like everything’s fine, but it’s not! I feel like there’s this, I don’t know this-” Nancy doesn’t finish her thought, as Jonathan does it for her, “like this weight you’re carrying around with you.” Though I think this is what she meant - weight meaning guilt - Jonathan is talking about knowing about the upside down, while I believe Nancy is speaking about that and ‘murdering Barb’.
Vecna even brings up her guilt about Barb in ST4 when Nancy is being mind controlled by him, “Do you remember what you did, Nancy?” Even then, she’s pulled out by Steve, he comforts her by saying “It’s okay, it’s okay, I'm here.”
Notice I’m talking a lot about Barb, but she’s one of the most important factors in Nancy’s arc and in Stancy’s Arc. Like I said earlier Nancy associates that guilt with Steve, so to get away from this feeling she moves to a more comfortable option, Jonathan. In ST4, as Nancy heals from the guilt of Barb, she’s also realizing her feelings for Steve.
•••
For Stancy ‘okay’’s mean something, rites of passage.
Separation:
ST1 Episode 3: Nancy goes to her locker, the day she noticed Barb was missing. Steve shows up and immediately notices that Nancy is off, “is everything okay?”
Transition:
ST2 Episode 9: Nancy and Steve are going through items for Will, Steve tells Nancy to go with Jonathan, she says she doesn’t want to leave Mike, “No one’s leaving anyone, look I may be a pretty shitty boyfriend, but turns out i’m a damn good babysitter.” Nancy obviously feels bad and disagrees, “Steve..” “It's okay Nance.”
Reintegration:
In ST3; Flayed Billy is about to hit Nance with her car, Steve slammed his car into Billys, saving Nancy. This doesn’t go unpaid, In ST4; Nancy immediately jumps in the lake to save Steve after he gets pulled down. Even Eddie acknowledges this, “that’s love, man.”
Stancy’s continuing Reintegration, Jancy’s separation:
In ST4 Episode 8; Jonathan and Nancy are boarding up the windows on Hopper's Cabin. Jonathan notices a tense air between them and asks, “are we okay?” Nancy gives a fake smile and says “Yeah”
In ST5 we’re likely to see the success play out.
•••
As for Jonathan…
In ST2, Jonathan and Nancy get ‘Murry’ed’. Murray iconically says, “You’re both young and attractive, and you’ve got the real shit, shared trauma.”
And genuinely Jancy has just that, shared trauma, but once you pull that away.. there’s not much there, other than chemistry seeping through from Natalia and Charlie.
In ST3, Jancy gets in an argument about their job, Jonathan doesn’t fully understand Nancy’s need to quit, while Nancy doesn’t understand Jonathan’s need to stay.
Robin and Jonathan: Foils
Robin, in ST3, calls Nancy ‘such a priss’, while high on the bathroom floor with Steve, he replies “Turns out, not really.”
Jonathan, in ST4, says he’s glad Nancy was in Hawkins, because then “who’d be in charge? Steve?” Nancy responds, “He’s actually grown up quite a bit, y’know?”
Jonathan and Robin, though in completely different ways, serve as decoy love interests. Robin by being completely unattainable by being a Lesbian. While Jonathan is a little more complicated, because he is attainable, but he’s emotionally unavailable (at least in ST4).
•••
As for Steve, there isn’t much of an argument needed, he loves this girl and always will:
“If some other girl had given me a proper thump, before we met, would things have been…different?”
“It’s always been you.”

thanks for reading my rambles about these fake people 👍

Thing I would change in vol.2
in order
The scene where Vickie kisses her boyfriend doesn't exist because what was the point of having it there if not to make Robin suffer? it didn't further the plot, didn't further her character, it was there just to give us a bit of queer pain for nothing.
During the hug between him and Jonathan, Will says something that is undoubtedly queer (not necessarily "I'm gay", but even just a referce to him having a crush on Mike so The Straights can't interpret his feelings as something else) because the discussion of Will's sexuality was hyped up a lot and what we got was underwhelming.
Steve gives Eddie a talk about how he isn't a coward for running away because what he did was all for survival instinct, but when he was actually given the choice to stay safely behind (at the lake and once they got back to Hawkins) he still chose to follow his friends into danger to help them knowing the risk.
Murray dies. I feel like someone from the Russia plot has to but it obviously isn't going to be Hopper, since he's just come back from the dead, or Joyce, since the Byers have already lost so much. Murray is just right because he's not a main character, but he's also not a background one.
No Steve/Nancy talk because in my version for season 4 the writers never tried to make Steve and Nancy get back together.
Jason goes to Eddie's trailer instead of the Creel House and there he finds the portal to the Upside Down while Eddie is playing, so he gets in and Dustin explains everything. Even if he's confused, he understands the situation and believes them (considering he's literally in another dimension about to get attacked by demobats and it's clear that Hellfire isn't leading them but actually fighting them). He sticks with them to help them fight.
The demobats are attacking the trailer but at one point they stop abruptly and we see that they are heading towards the Creel house to kill Nancy, Steve and Robin, so, after making sure Dustin is safe in the normal world and cutting the rope, Eddie and Jason run to distract he demobats again. They get followed but keep running until they can, but at one point they reach a dead end and have no other choice but fight. Jason is dying after fighting alongside Eddie, while he's bleeding out he apologises for being a dick, accusing him of murder, and sending an angry mob after him. His last words are 《I'll tell Chrissy you said "hi".》
Therefore, yea, Eddie also doesn't die. by now we've understood the trend of killing off all the new characters, do something different. how do they handle him being wanted by the whole town? I don't know. maybe they hide him in Hopper's cabin like they did with Eleven in seasons 2 and 3, maybe Jason said something to his friends after finding out the truth, maybe he clears his name in season 5, maybe they help him leave the town.
Max dies because this time Vecna knows about the music thing and makes sure she can't save herself again. she and isn't brought back to life and dies in Lucas' arms while the portals open. The reason for this is that I feel like so far all the main characters have had huge plot armor and killing one would really raise the stakes, make it clear that from now on everyone is in real danger.
Also to raise the stakes, I feel like one between Nancy, Robin and Steve should die but honestly I don't know, I'm not sure (obviously not Robin, one of the only canon queer characters, and I do think the Duffers want to keep Steve's death for season 5, so maybe Nancy? not sure though, so this is just an idea, not necessarily something I'd for sure change)
Antonov doesn't follow the others to America, he goes back to his family so they can all move somewhere safer with Yuri's help.
Nancy and Jonathan have a serious talk and Jonathan tells her the truth about the college letters. they understand that them going to college together isn't going to work, so they break up, but Nancy still tells Jonathan to not stay stuck to his family forever, but to go to NYU instead (y'know, NYU, literally Jonathan's dream school since he was six, as is mentioned in season 1?). after season 5 we learn that they got back together after they were both done with college and being a journalistic power couple and are as strong as ever, and the break up helped the grow individually.
no time skip at the end of the season because I don't really see how it could work out with the finale. also, every other season has had a time skip of some months, and it would be nice if, for once, two seasons happend in direct sequence. I do understand that they are doing it for the actors' ages, but also, I don't care.
this is it, I think.
