Thinking about the way that ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space portrayed homophobia???? Like that was genuinely one of the best parts, and something that you also don't see all too often, even though south park elementary or high, in this case, would ABSOLUTELY be VIOLENTLY homophobic. Like no one would be out and proud, especially with Eric Cartman inevitably having to insert his opinion everywhere.
Not just the way it not only influences people's actions and the way they think about themselves, but also how displays of homophobia are pushed aside or how no one speaks up at all.
No spoilers, of course, but I think that alone sets it off from many other creek fics, or just sp fics in general. Internalized homophobia is not uncommon to be portrayed, but external influences of that magnitude? A masterpiece.
And of course: the link.

OKAY SO I ONLY FIND OUT NOW THAT YOU LIKE LAGWAFIS???? AUFJGIAOAOSOFJFJDK great choice
i like lagwafis so much that I drained my printer of black and white ink while printing the entire thing out on over 400 pages to give to my friend and had to print at least 130 in blue ink instead. also i calculated how much more words lagwafis is compared to the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms. its really something. so sorry if u follow me though my special interest are a dutch hardstyle guy and a slovenian rock band 😭

AHHHGH DUDE, IVE FINALLY FOUND YOU ON HERE, YESSSS BRO, YOUR WRITING IS PHENOMENAL, (I'd say I'm the biggest lagwafis enthusiast on the internet, as soon as i read lagwafis, I bought the CD, the collectors edition pill pack white shirt, I have so so so many quotes on my Craig Tucker Shrine from the fic, and if you wanted to know, I've currently managed to read lagwafis 388 times, people believe I know it by heart, get it? "I know you by heart, Tweek" and the agonizing fact I quote lagwafis every day whenever I see a brink of reference infront of me, like let's say yesterday, I was in a store- and I saw a tub of chai latte and I was so close to screaming lagwafis reference inside of the store, I'm also cooking up some fan art (specifically from coming home) so I'll totally tag you when it's out) AHHH I'M GONNA WRITE SO MUCH ON HERE IT MIGHT GO TO THE LIMIT, okay so first, let's talk about the fanfic itself, there are SO many tiny details in this fic that have either made me laugh or cry in agony, which is a good thing, also, the characterization is TOP TIER, a lot of fanfictions tend to fall slightly short on the background characters outside of the pairing that tends to be the main focus. This was a great change, especially in Craig's group and Stan especially, everyone felt so real and totally had obvious quirks from the fandom itself that I LOVED SO MUCH, your writing evokes so much emotion that I somehow managed to feel exactly how everyone felt in a chapter relevant to them.
Let's talk about the character description choices, the way you described Tweek in almost every chapter made my heart ache in the best way possible, you made him sound like a fallen angel, the definition of ethereal, also the fact you decided on giving him that mouth scar with backstory to it is TOP TIER, I have a similar scar on my lip and whenever I see it in the mirror I think of Tweek from this fanfic, let's move on to Craig, the way you wrote his internal monologue and the way his emotions played out made me absolutely soul crushed, this entire fic left a deep pit in my heart, especially how Craig was described, Craig was written so realistically that it actually felt like he was real. He purposely blocked off his emotions to prevent himself from being seen as vulnerable, he struggled with keeping his “I don’t give a shit” personality until it all just exploded and the part that he was so vulnerable with was exposed to the entire school.
Also I see that the lagwafis anniversary is coming up soon!! I usually celebrate it every year when I get the chance to, by doing lagwafis related things and shit, this fanfic deserves way more than just kudos and comments and hits, this fic deserves the damn world and beyond, I even had literal dreams of this fic being one day announced to be an animated movie, and if it ever did I would cry and vomit in the best way ever possible, my life would be so complete if we became moots on here, also, I'm not sure if you have TikTok, but that's where I'm most known to being the lagwafis enthusiast on there, i make a lot of lagwafis related videos, my username is spacecadetcraigz, if you ever see this at some point, just know im so grateful you took your time to read through this.
I literally wish you the best life for now on
Yours truly,
Spacecadetcraig
388 times????? That’s true dedication my friend, you must read it like twice a week? Incredible, I’m so glad you enjoy something I wrote this much. I’m also so glad you love the album by Spiritualised too, it’s such a special album and there’s something so perfect about the title track that I’ve never been able to shake.
I didn’t even realise the anniversary was coming up, thanks for reminding me! It’s so weird to think I started writing that story six years ago. At that time I’d been catching up with South Park and when I first saw the Tweek X Craig episode it was my new favourite thing from the first minute in.
An animated movie would be amazing, Matt and Trey give us the rights pls, free of charge if possible (they’d so try for another billion dollar deal ahahahah)
I’m going to check you out on tiktok and if you do make fanart please tag me! I’d love to see!

5. Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space (1997)
There is no other album quite like Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space. Although it contains many familiar elements – the euphoric surge of gospel, the churning swirl of psychedelic rock, the snotty snarl of brit-pop, and the world-weary ache of the blues – it combines them in a way that’s entirely unique, even within Spiritualized’s own three decade long discography. The ideas that inform this album can all be found in the story that precedes its creation: in a cocktail of heartbreak and heroin abuse that steeps every note of every track. Prior to recording this album, Spiritualized keyboard player (and Pierce’s long-time girlfriend) Kate Radley ditched him and married Verve front-man Richard Ashcroft soon after. Pierce dealt with this blow by upping his heroin consumption to Herculean proportions and creating his finest record to date – an album that echoes all of the glazed detachment of a desperate drug dependent, yet periodically weeps, bleeds and howls as it struggles to contain the great sorrow it holds back like a dam in a flood. This dichotomy defines the entire album, from its spiral-like sequencing with its violent mood swings, to its overwhelming sense of barely contained anguish that eventually erupts in the form of devastating closer ‘Cop Shoot Cop’. The opening duo of the title track and first single ‘Come Together’ set the scene; the former piling on loops of layered vocals and shimmering instrumentation into a majestic swell of starry-eyed melancholy, before crashing headfirst into the latter – a thuggish, muscular declaration of pure nihilism that surges forward in blasts of brass and squealing feedback. Everything you need to know about this album can be found in these opening ten minutes – the dense production, the swirling textures that alternately soothe and leap forward in a vicious assault, and the whirlpool of emotion that Pierce is constantly spinning in. His voice moves from lip-curling detachment to quivering sadness in a heartbeat, and the music follows suit: the whiplash-inducing ‘All of my Thoughts’ switches between gentle, forlorn verses and frantic, explosive, free-form breakdowns like a tornado crashing through a funeral home. As the album progresses, these contrasts grow longer and deeper – the dense, tender, narcotic waltz of ‘Stay With Me’ is smashed to pieces by the furious charge of ‘Electricty’ – a song that evokes it’s namesake with a breakneck flurry of live-wire guitar noise, crashing drums and spluttering harmonica soloing. The record reaches the depths of abstraction in the form of ‘Home of the Brave’ and ‘The Individual’, two tracks that finally swallow Pierce’s longing whole by slowly consuming it in total chaos. Just as it seems like everything as been washed away in a sea of droning noise, ‘Broken Heart’ swims into view; a gorgeous, aching, string-laden expression of utter loss rendered even more powerful by it’s positioning between the astringent grind of ‘The Individual’ and the freeform mania of ‘No God Only Religion’. By the time ‘Cool Waves’ rolls round and the gospel choirs are finally soothing the pain away, it begins to feel like Pierce has exorcised his demons and found peace at last, but the epic finale of ‘Cop Shoot Cop’ has one last trick up it’s sleeve. Stalking forward with grim resolve, the verses create a hypnotic eddy of piano licks, finger snaps and queasy guitar textures, before each chorus whips it all up into a spinning frenzy of crashing percussion, swirling organ and psychedelic noise. Each time it just brushes the edge of the abyss, but pulls back at the last minute. By the third repetition it can’t hold itself together anymore and everything begins to rip itself apart, revealing the vast, aching pit of pain and confusion inside. For what feels like an eternity the horns blast, the guitars melt, the drums cascade, and the bass tumbles into what can only be described as an aural black hole. Eventually in the distance a solitary trumpet appears, signalling the way back to dry land, followed by sighing, wordless voices and eventually a discernable rhythm. Once calm is restored, Pierce reappears for one last time – his voice still numb, still broken – but seemingly at peace, as the song quietly drifts to a gentle close. There is no other piece of pop music in the world that comes close to what Spiritualized manage to achieve with ‘Cop Shoot Cop’, nor is there any album that manages to express the emotional turmoil of heartbreak and loss better than this. It’s not subtle, lyrically or musically; it won’t ease your pain like some folksy troubadour’s musings or some whimsically ironic synth-pop. Instead it reaches deep into the very heart of what it’s like to be crushed, lost, and fucked up inside, and it splatters the blood-soaked mess over a 70 minute long canvas using every mode of musical expression that ever found a way to mourn the loss of love and hope. It’s a beautiful, devastating, fascinating, overwhelming experience, and it’s a masterpiece in the truest sense of the word.

Since the original press goes for a kajillion dollars, I had been waiting for a proper, non-Plain Recordings (an awful reissue label that you should avoid like the plague) reissue of this masterpiece for many years now. VMP TO THE RESCUE! It sounds amazing. it looks amazing. It feels amazing. I say this more than I should, but this is a perfect record. . . . #spiritualized #ladiesandgentlemenwearefloatinginspace #lagwafis #nowspinning #vinyl #records #instavinyl #vinylporn #jhvinyl #iloveDiscogs #vinyligclub #igvinylclub #vinylcollector #vinylcollection #recordcollector #recordcollection #recordsnotvinyls #vinylgram #vinylnotvinyls #vinylcommunity #vinyladdict #vinyljunkie #stoppluralizingvinyl #cratedigger #cratedigging #physicalmediaforever https://www.instagram.com/p/CFAQr-iD0Xt/?igshid=5rjnc2lqornr

MONDAY MUSIC MANIA: how could I make it any plain-ia?
My brother’s starting high school today. Wanna track him down, internet sleuths? Here’s a pic of where he’s at:
FROM THIS FRIDAY:
Nada. Zip. Zilch. Miynt was bleh, sorry.
YOUR LISTENING LIST
REPLICA by Oneohtrix Point Never: There are only a few times I can’t dislike any song off an album; this is one of them. “Replica” stands out by acting more as an art installation - an experience - than a typical LP. There are no stand-out tracks, hit singles, or danceable bops. Just a cold, alien reality full of fleeting synths and ghostly production. 8/10.

IMMUNITY by Jon Hopkins: This is, like, the polar opposite of “Replica”. Yes, they’re both electronic, and, yes, they both have titles longer than six letters, but “Immunity” is breathing warmth - full of songs you’ll actually want to have on a playlist. The music’s more appropriate for a 2:00 am drive than a 10:00 rave, but it’s still groovin’ in its own unique way (highlights: “We Disappear”, “Collider”, “Breathe This Air”). 8/10.
LET IT COME DOWN by Spiritualized: I first found Spiritualized from the r/indieheads “best-of” list, and, let me tell ya skeptics who’ll listen to this album and immediately turn it off, it took me FOREVER to warm up to the guy’s music - especially because nothing anything off of “LAGWAFIS” sounds remotely like the title track (one of my favorite songs of all time).
If you don’t like highly repetitive jam sessions that slowly build the intensity, gospel choirs, and occasional bombastic orchestral sections, then you’ll probably find this annoying and turn it off in the first minute. I know I did, but times change! 9/10.
