Curated by @wanda.wi_fi and @riccowrites, “Through the Eyes of a Muse” is an all women’s group exhibition that highlights the importance of seeing the world through the female gaze.

The curators chose this title because historical art canons often view the female figure as muse, but what about the muse’s eye itself?

What does she see? What does she think? What does she paint? And so on.

This contextualizes the theme of reversing the history of art as we know it and extends the work toward amplifying the female voice.

Women’s History Month is a great time to celebrate the excellence of women even though women should be celebrated every day. We should honor their brilliance, their strength, their power, and their love. At the same time, with a theme such a this, we also get to examine the fluidity of the female and her gaze.

The dates for this exhibition are March 11 - April 10 and the opening reception is Thursday March 11th from 7pm to 9pm.

There are twelve women artists featured in this exhibition: six painters and six photographers. We’ll be posting their works throughout the month, but we encourage you to follow each of them now.

We look forward to seeing you at the opening or sometime while these incredible works are on view.

The New York City retailers boarded up their storefront windows to protect them from the looters.  Over the weeks those plan wood boards evolved into the canvas for the artist to express their feelings and passions for the "Black Lives Matter" movement.
