You ask for space
Tumblr media
But you've already been so far
Tumblr media
I love a good chase
Tumblr media
But this can't be healthy for my heart
Tumblr media
I'd do what you ask, give what you need
Tumblr media
Don't move farther from me
Tumblr media
As time goes on, I'll beg and plead
Tumblr media
For you to be closer to me
Tumblr media
.
As time goes on, I hope you'll see
Tumblr media
How much closer we could be
.

I love local live music shows so much. There's something so beautiful about sharing the night with 50 or so other people, hearing music only a few thousand (at most) others will ever hear, and having an experience that will never be captured digitally in any meaningful way. Big concerts are great and if it's an artist of band that you love then it's absolutely worth it, but watching some 21 year old film student ascend to the astral plain in a parking lot is free and just as fun.

Thought I’d do a little art throwback with my own historically accurate (well mostly) takes on Disney princesses and heroines, which I did from 2021 to 2022! Included in this series are:
Snow White - early 16th century Germany (then part of the Holy Roman Empire)
Cinderella - late 1860s-early 1870s France
Aurora - mid 15th century France
Eilonwy - 8th-10th century (present day) Wales
Ariel - 1830s Mediterranean Europe (maybe Italy)
Belle - 1760s-1770s France
Jasmine - 16th century Arabian Peninsula during the Ottoman Empire
Pocahontas - 1607 Virginia, (present day) United States of America
Esmeralda - 1480s France (Romani garb)
Megara - Classical period of Ancient Greece (c. 5th-4th centuries BCE)
Mulan - Wei Dynasty China (386-535 AD)
Jane - 1900s England
Tiana - late 1920s New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
Rapunzel - 1790s-1800s Germany
Merida - 10th-11th century (present day) Scotland
Elsa - late 1830s-early 1840s Norway
Anna - same period as Elsa (duh)
Moana - ancient Polynesian Islands (c. 1st century BCE)
I had so much fun drawing these, as well as doing the research for each one! I actually drew most of the outfits each one wears (in their first movies) but they're waaaaay down further in my blog.
I'm planning to do a digital redo of these someday, as well as do my own historical spins on other characters I haven't done yet.
Which one is your favorite?

Historically inspired Ningguang
I based this semi-historical fashion for Ningguang on images of Empress Cixi. I know it’s usual to not draw Ningguang in a qipao but I wanted to base her look on a real woman in history in a position of power if you will. Ningguang is a powerful leader and important player in the commercial success of Liyue. Also the very long nail/finger guards are very iconic for both.

I'm finally back from my vacation, and what a time it was! As much as I enjoy trekking through caves, scaling mountains, and embracing old cultures, home is still where the heart is.
Anyway, I want to personally thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday the day before! I know a number of you have also made some gift art, but unfortunately the terrible internet connection made it impossible to check them out on the day itself.
Rest assured, I will get around to checking out all the gift art soon. And dont worry if you didn't gift me anything, your constant support is good enough a gift for me. For real, another year has past and I'm grateful to have gotten the chance to interact and get to know some of ya'll more, even through the comments. And for that, I'm eternally grateful to have you guys as fans and friends!
That being said, Lady Ace is also extremely grateful for her success and all the support you have shown her this year! So from the both of us, thank you!

When will a distant relative I've never met and know nothing about disappear under mysterious circumstances having, inexplicably, bequeathed me their remote, over-grown, and deeply haunted country estate?

Hi! I’d love some recs from your favorite obscure books! Do you have any you think would suit me? 😊
Sticking with the Gaskell vibe, here are some books within that genre of domestic classics.
-A Bachelor's Comedy by J.E. Buckrose is an episodic comedy involving lots of silly little events and characters in an English country village, a bit like Cranford without the deaths (and from the point-of-view of a newly-ordained clergyman on his first assignment).
-If I can get one other person to read Una Silberrad, I will die happy. Like Gaskell, she excels with layered characters, and includes some deeper themes beneath her romance plots. Desire has a recently-released ebook edition on hoopla, and has her deepest themes and characters (including my favorite love interest, an introverted and kind novelist turned pottery-business-owner who has some Roger Hamley vibes). The Good Comrade is her best-known work (the only one on Gutenberg), about a penniless upper-class girl who goes to work in the Netherlands and gets up to money-making shenanigans--a lighter and brighter story. Curayl is only available as a Google Books pdf, and there's a lot that I don't like about it, but the stuff I do like I love, so I need someone else to read this book.
-Helen by Maria Edgeworth was a direct inspiration for Wives and Daughters. Edgeworth is much more upper-class and conservative than Gaskell, and much less adept at weaving in messages naturally, but the characters are fun, and it's fascinating to see a different take on this plotline.
-Beau Brown by Nina Clare is a Regency romance, but it's more concerned about historical accuracy than most books in this genre are. The way the servants are treated as actual people feels very Gaskell.
I'll throw in an extra book with a kdrama vibe.
-I don't remember much about Lady of Dreams by W.R. Gingell, but it was meant to be a fantasy take on kdrama tropes, so it might be worth checking out.
