(i had totally forgotten about this prompt, but it made my day when i just found it again)(because DORKY DADS!! YES!!)

First of all, we ALL know Steve would be the guy that thinks he’s a cool dad. He thinks he’s so hip, down with the kids. He’s on facebook, so he knows the memes, but obviously 3 months after they were cool

Hes the kind of dad that goes to pickup the kids from school and then does a little celebratory dab when their youngest, Isaac, tells him how he landed the lead role in the play. 

Their kids are absolutely mortified obviously.

‘oh my god, DAD?! you did NOT just dab. Dad no, we are NOT getting in the car with you, we’re never coming home again! 

He’s also the dad who volunteers to chaperone parties and he will definitely do all the awkward dancemoves to get the party started.

(he knows full well that hes embarrassing the kids)

Steve getting read by the kids for not being cool is Billy’s #1 source of entertainment. You can find him belly laughing in the background when their oldest, Chloe, lectures him about how Frozen is so not cool anymore and that he should never sing Let it Go in front of her friends ever again.

(a week later when chloe gets sick, steve will totally cuddle with her while they watch frozen, because lets face it: its the coolest movie)

Billy would be the dad joke-dad

(he would for example argue that a movie called frozen has to be cool, because whats cooler than frozen?)

(steve would join the kids in their groans) 

Billy would also be so goddamn theatrical.

He does the most elaborate death scenes everytime he gets hit with a nerf gun or a snowball. When they were little, the kids would always laugh at his antics, but when they got older they would just roll their eyes every time he screams and clutches his heart dramatically. 

(but billy would catch the smiles tugging at the corners of their mouths, so he never stops doing it)

Also here are some general Harringrove dad headcanons that i feel to be true deep in my bones:

Steve documents everything 

Every first day of school, every holiday, every family outing, every minor milestone. 

(the picture of chloe on her first date is a picture that he cherishes forever, because she looks absolutely pissed in it)(he shows it at her wedding years later and they all have a little cry)

He also cried when Isaac took a bow at the end of his first play. He was a fantastic Peter Pan and Steve was so proud of him.

(its also because he knows his little boy is going to grow up and billy, who sat next to him, held his hand during the entire show, because he was feeling the exact same thing)(they held each other for a long time that night after the kids went to bed)

Billy coaches Chloe’s basketball team. He has a hard time with the fact that the team keeps losing, but when the season ends and the girls all hug him and thank him for being their coach, he realises that the kids just had a good time playing and he actually had a great time as well.

(he takes them all out for mcdonalds and he is suddenly so sad that the season is over)(he cant wait til next year)

Billy falls asleep in front of the tv.

I remember watching a really nice live version where she was in the blue gem dress and idk the whole of the fame monster has such a nice steady beat 💓
