Alcina is actually not that too far into the cult. In her route she’s telling us that she can’t agree with Miranda’s decisions anymore

And it hurts badly because she realised that long after the whole situation with Bela

let’s not forget (but correct me if im wrong): dani and cass are completely unaware of the cult in miranda’s route. they might’ve heard about it in rumors, but they don’t know the full weight of it the same way bela does.

i think bela’s gonna use that opportunity to literally force her sisters to leave the school and maybe the whole town completely. the last thing she wants is to lose another loved one to whatever crazy shit miranda might plan in her cult again.

i feel like she’d do anything, purposely get them in trouble until they’d finally leave. she’d do everything, even make them think she hated them. just so they wouldn’t be burdened by it all the same way she is. she knows her mother is already too far into the cult to get her to leave, and she herself can’t just leave either. not when her mother is there. so instead, she’d make at least dani and cass leave so that at least some of her family could escape miranda’s clutches.

just like what she said in dani’s route, “You’re free now. At least one of us is.”

i feel like we as a society don't talk about miranda's mutation nearly enough. and, like, i get it, alcina's dragon form is some of the craziest body horror i've ever seen and it's beautiful. but i raise you:

look at her. my shayla. the way her halo is broken, symbolizing her reign and control over the village (and herself, in all honesty) is beginning to fall apart. the way the shape of her halo is embedded into her mutated form because she still views herself in a position of superiority.

the single eye now sunken into her forehead, ever watching. i think it could even mean how single minded she is, how she can't focus on anything else but how much she wants to bring her daughter back (even if it's clearly over)

don't get me started on the layers & branches of mold that her legs have burst into. the way mingle with her lower half and make it look like she's wearing some kind of gown?

HER WINGS?? THE WINGS WHY DON'T WE TALK ABOUT HER MUTATED WINGS MORE?

"Make Me Yours" Chapter 11: The Rejection

Chapter 10

Master Post

The fist step to courting a mate is to woo, the second step is to provide, the third is acceptance, and the final step is marking and of course...mating. Carmen shivers a little, she knows the Lady hates her, and the staff distrusts her, they give her a wide berth and none of them dare to look her way. So clearly getting their trust head on isn't an option, but there is the second in command who's name you don't know. Perhaps if she were to...stumble upon the journal with the notes, she can convince the other maids to escape. Even if means Carmen is left behind. But first, she needs to know what is in the basement.

Carmen shuffles nervously as she stands outside the double doors to Lady Dimitrescu's office, according to Liliana's notes she likes to be served at a very specific time. When Carmen is given the consent to enter, she does so promptly and sets the wine tray next to the lady on a small side table. The lady looks at Carmen suspiciously, narrowing her eyes before taking the glass and drinking it. The lady hums and sets the glass down which Carmen instantly fills once again, before she is dismissed with a wave of her hand. Okay, so far so good. This new position gives her lots of down time, but she still needs a way into the basement and there's only one person she knows with access: Bela. 

It doesn't take her long to find the eldest daughter, she's ordering around some maidens who are slacking and threatening to cut them open. Carmen swallows and approaches cautiously, the blond looks over at Carmen and scoffs a little. 

"What do you want?" She asks impatiently. 

"To see if you need any assistance with anything" Carmen lies. 

"No. Certainly not from you. Go bother Daniela or something."

Carmen's jaw tenses as she remembers the bright, bold lettering 'DO NOT TRUST DANIELA' still etched into her brain. She has to find some sort of weakness in this wall Bela has built. 

"Well unfortunately that's not an option. Your mother specifically told me to aid you so, you're stuck with me."

Bela rubs her chin before a devilish smirk crosses her face, "actually, there is something you can help me with."

Bela leads Carmen to a locked iron door, she pulls a key from seemingly nowhere but Carmen assumes there is a pocket in her dress she cannot see. That, or the girls somehow have an endless void to hold things through their swarms. Bela unlocks the door and Carmen instantly recognizes it as the entrance to the dungeon from the smell alone, she scrunches her nose but follows nonetheless. Bela leads her down a corridor until they come across a row of cells, int he first one is none other than Liliana. She's strung up by her wrists like a fish, with buckets underneath catching the draining blood. 

Carmen feels queasy again, her head spins, her mouth waters, her stomach cramps and it takes all of her willpower not to hurl right then and there. Bela looks at Carmen expectantly, but when she doesn't throw up Bela proceeds through the bars of the cell and to the hanging body. She removes the buckets then unlocks the chains, the body slamming to the floor with a wet thud. 

"How much do you know about butchering? You said you hunt." Bela asks. 

"I've prepared many animals; deer, boar, jaguar, and pig to name a few."

Bela picks up the body as if it weighs nothing, then carries it from the cell to a nearby gurney, slamming it down. There's minimal light, her night vision aiding where there's only shadows, but it hurts her head trying to switch between seeing in the dark and seeing in the light. Bela lights a few more lanterns  then roll out a set of tools, many of them Carmen is familiar with. 

"Prep this body. Cut it like you would a pig, separating organs from muscle from fat. Be sure not to nick any intestine, there's buckets behind you for organizing."

Bela steps around the gurney, "are you not staying?" Carmen asks. 

"Do you need me to babysit you?"

"No, just, asking."

 Bela scoffs again then crosses her arms, "oh, and mother's favorite is the fattier bits slow roasted."

Before Carmen can thank her, she's off in a flash. Carmen waits a moment before looking down at the body, this is her opportunity as she rushes from the opening in the basement. Carmen looks up through the hole then scrounges around until she finds a loose brick in the wall. She removes the brick and pulls out what appears to be rope, a poorly made grappling hook, and another piece of paper. The paper has detailed instructions on the outside of the castle, and this hole leads perfectly outside the wall. Carmen examines the hook, it should be sturdy enough to hold at least one maid at a time, but that means she'll need a huge distraction. 

Carmen tucks the paper into her coat pocket then returns the items into the loose brick before going back to the body. She distracts her mind by thinking of ways to get all four of the women away from this area so that the staff can escape. It helps. Kind of. Human anatomy is similar to pig, so she just needs to be careful mainly around the torso, and disgustingly so, it's easier without all the blood in the body. Carmen divides the parts like Bela asked, separating the meatier bits from the muscle, and leaving the fattier bits in a bucket for later. Bela didn't make that comment in error, so she knows Carmen is going to listen. 

Bela returns a few hours later and examines Carmen's work, giving her a compliment that it's not completely butchered like she was expecting. Carmen carries the buckets to the kitchen with Bela, no one is around giving her the perfectly opportunity to cook the fatty bits over a slow roasting fire. Unfortunately there's minimal spices except salt and pepper so she can't season it like she would a pig. However, there is butter and brown sugar so maybe this isn't hopeless at all, if only she had some bourbon too. Ugh. If only she was back home and had access to the communal kitchen she could blow her tastebuds out of the water. Carmen snaps her head, what is she thinking? Seasoning a human! This is human not pig, why on Earth is she worrying about how it's going to taste? Because she wants to impress her mate. 

No. Stop thinking that. 

Carmen stares at the human roast, she slowly cranks a handle to keep it turning so each side is perfectly tender. She's so caught up in her own mental war she doesn't hear the loud buzzing form beside her. 

"Who's your alpha?" 

Carmen yelps in surprise and shoots a look over at Daniela who stands there with an eyebrow raised. She snickers at Carmen's racing heart as Carmen braces herself, remembering those words once more. She needs to stay on Daniela's good side. 

"My what?" Carmen finally spits out. 

"Your alpha. I read that packs have alphas, so, who's yours?"

"I don't know what you've been reading but that is not true. We have parents and grandparents which, I guess, could be seen as our alpha? That would be like saying your mother is the alpha of your pack. Technically true, but not exactly accurate." 

"Oh, so, wolf packs don't have alphas?"

"No, that was a made up statistic many, many years ago. A common misconception."

"Oh. So there's no...omegas or betas either?"

"Daniela, whatever you're reading, I promise you, it's not accurate to actual packs."

"Okay...what about mates? Do you have only a singular mate your entire life? What if they die?"

Carmen tenses as she returns her attention to the human, spinning it around on the fire. 

"Not exactly. When you find your mate, you're destined to that particular person until death, and if one of you is still alive, there is a chance at finding another."

"So, you're committed to that person only?"

"You're supposed to be, but we're also people meaning, some people still cheat on their mates or leave them. However, doing so cuts you off from your wolf permanently."

"Is that why you can't shift?"

"Your mother," 

'if she's really my mate' Carmen thinks. 

"hasn't officially accepted or rejected me, because of that I'm having difficulties connecting to my wolf which can happen in the presence of a mate. There's other reasons too."

"Oh."

Carmen sits there silently before looking over her shoulder at Daniela who is looking away in thought, twiddling her fingers. Carmen raises an eyebrow at the mannerism, she looks innocent enough and especially like this; Daniela looks almost childlike. 

"Do you believe in soul mates Daniela?" Carmen asks softly. 

"I want to, I like the thought that there's someone out there who will love me for me, and not, this" she mutters the last word barely above a whisper. 

The muscles in Carmen's jaw flexes as she continues to stare at Daniela who locks eyes with her before swarming off. Carmen's heart aches, her mind is telling her it's all a ploy to get her to lower her guard, but her heart is saying that Daniela is genuinely upset and lonely. 

"We should comfort her, she's obviously looking for affection" her wolf says. 

"No. We can't trust her remember?"

"So now we're taking one person's word as gospel? We are not their prey, perhaps we can trust Daniela."

"We're not here to trust, we're here to escape, and get back home."

"We are home."

Carmen shakes her head, this prison is not her home. Her home is on her island where it's warm, and sunny, and she can swim in the lagoon, and climb through the rainforest, and be with her family. She is going to escape one way or another. She looks around the kitchen, only staff comes in here and she needs to hide the notebook somewhere obvious so that the right person finds it. Tonight she'll sneak out and plant the notebook with the new information she's gained, until then..

Carmen removes the human slab from the fire and presents it on a tray, carrying the hefty piece up the stairwell back to the lady's chambers. She must provide for her mate, and this is an excellent way to show she can provide, despite her feelings toward it. She enters the room and sets the tray next to the now empty wine bottle, removing the covering and awaiting patiently. The lady eyes the slab, her eyes dilate and her mouth waters upon smelling the fresh meat. She turns and looks over at Carmen presenting herself stupidly, she reeks of hormones and emotions ranging from disgust to elation. The lady reaches down and takes a fork, cutting into the tender flesh which falls apart from the bone, just how she likes it. She takes a bite, having grown accustom to mild flavorings, this is smokey and buttery and the lady wants to rip into it. 

She gives a hum of approval, keeping herself calm and collected but it's enough to send the poor mutt into overdrive. Her glee fills the room from how she stands up a little straighter, presents her chest, and even offers a smile. These lowly creatures and their praise kinks. The lady takes another bite, she does have to admit, this is better than anything she's tasted in a very long time. Carmen takes a cautious step forward, looking up at the lady with those big, brown eyes. She hates to admit that this gremlin is very attractive, despite her full body of tattoos and piercings, but she cannot bring herself to fraternize with a wolf of all beings! She might as well take one of Heisenberg's inbred mutts as a lover. Better to end this rather than give her false hope.

"I know what you're doing and it won't work" the lady states.

"What do you mean?" Carmen asks nervously.

"You think you can stroll in here, pull some mystical hocus pocus about being my destined soul mate and that I would drop everything I know to be with you? You expect me, the name behind the most illustrious wine company of this dynasty, a mother, and the renowned lord of this village to stoop to your level? You're a nobody, a disgusting blight unworthy to be the tissue I blow my nose in. What do you have to offer me other than cheap entertainment that I can get from the local brothel?"

"But-"

"You and your kind are delirious. There's only one being in this world capable of such power and that is Mother Miranda. Your fake Goddess is nothing more than a sham, a hoax, for gullible vermin such as yourself. Why would a being with such power care about such fickle things? You don't see Mother Miranda playing match maker. It's a waste of time, and frankly, a lie told to younglings to make them believe in magic or true love. Nothing more than a fairytale."

The lady stands then kneels to Carmen's level, grabbing her by the throat and holding her up to where her toes barely scrape the floor beneath her. Carmen gasps and grabs onto the hand to hoist herself up, grasping for air as the lady pulls her in.

"I am not, nor will I ever be, your mate. Even saying the phrase disgusts me. I suggest you get that through your head, before I have it mounted to my wall."

(laa again bc idk when to stop typing :D) man it's a bit weird to see players put the responsibility of accepting the coercion- i mean 'deal' and being nice to the villain (that, doing what villains do, hurt the mc - ofc that's expected of him) on Ethan's ptsd + traumatised + paranoid + exhausted ass. like, it's Ethan's baby daughter that got dismembered by these people and they played keep away with her body parts and they want him to have a rational discussion after the nightmarish day he's had? with the dude that ran him through, dragged him to his 'family', put him on a saw-like game, made him go through the lycans den, told him they'd use his baby as a thing?

...not to mention some of the stuff he says during his fight :x

"The villagers are nothing but a bunch of worthless peons!"

"I'll use your cute little daughter to become more powerful than ever!"

"You'll meet Rose in the after life!" "Rose's power is mine! Right after I murder Miranda!" and that's just some of it!

and some peeps say 'but ethan should have joined then betrayed heisenberg to escape with rose!' ...pls tell me where in the games ethan has shown any inclination to lie, betray or be anything other than painfully honest and emotional bc i think the guy can't lie worth sht

heisenberg's my fave lord and i'd have loved to have the option to join him, bc it'd add replayability to the game and it'd lead to a bad end like 7's zoe route (...and also bc it'd add fuel to my wintersberg fic ideas :> imagine the angst! the betrayal! the whump!)

Yeah, I feel that, for the most part, people who think it would have been a good choice to join Heisenberg are not understanding the Author's Intent here (or are just ignoring it). It was never the creators' intent to make us question whether Heisenberg could have been an ally to Ethan. Giving Heisenberg that depth of having been Miranda's victim and wanting to escape her is not there to make him redeemable. It's there to make him human; if you don't give your villains depth and some human traits, they are just big monsters/zombies (in RE's case) that you have to defeat. And that gets boring and distant after a while. But some people misinterpret that depth the villains have as an excuse to blame the main character for being an ass to them - after the villains have been an ass to him in the first place.

And it's this whole stupid idea that fandom spaces have set, that you can't like a character who's morally wrong cause if you do you automatically condone their actions, like... You absolutely can. You can simp for Lady Dimitrescu and love how hot she looks as she drinks the blood off of innocent people. You can simp for Heisenberg and love how he makes his terrifying but fucking awesome army of corpses. But some people have that above thought so much drilled into their minds (not on their own fault, tbh), that they're looking for the tiniest excuse to justify themselves liking the villains - when they don't even have to! Like, I know that loving Lady D doesn't mean you'd condone her actions in real life, but some people take that so personally that they take it to the other extreme and blame Ethan for trying to find his daughter???? so to make Lady D's and her daughters' treatment of him morally correct. When that's not the point of her character at all. Her loving her daughters doesn't mean that, morally, she has the right to keep Ethan away from his daughter, but that's exactly what she does. Being a loving mother and getting devastated upon their deaths makes her a deeper character, more human, and easier to understand. Not redeemable, and certainly doesn't put her above Ethan on the moral scale. But still likeable as a fictional character.

And again, liking a fictional character is not a question of morality. It's just about what you like to see, what you resonate with the most, what makes you feel good. Venom is one of my comfort films, honestly, and I love how Venom eats the heads off of criminals. I'm 100% against the death penalty in real life, yet I love this big, dumb and fictional alien punishing bad guys by eating their heads straight off. You go you big alien himbo, protect San Francisco and get your nutrients at the same time (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

So yeah, my love for Venom doesn't negate nor combat my very solid stance against the death penalty in real life. I'd be fucking terrified if that was happening in real life.

And again on the ignoring the Author's Intent, a lot of people hate on Ethan because he's "boring", seeing that they're justified in hating on him and calling him the bad guy because he doesn't have the depth that the villains have... and they're not understanding that Ethan being "boring" is essential to what the writers created. They wanted him to be a simple guy, they wanted his comebacks to be stupid and cheesy, they wanted him to not have any super deep backstory or motivation or whatever. All that contributes to making the game survival horror that balances lore (we focus on the Lords' story instead of trying to learn more about Ethan's story), action, just a little bit of humor (if you don't understand why we laugh our asses out at stuff like "You're the one who's cursed" and "Caught myself a big one" and you just think Ethan is unforgivably stupid and a bad protagonist... YOU ARE NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE. SORRY THAT YOU WASTED YOUR MONEY AND TIME ON THIS GAME) and emotion (if you don't get just a little bit sad at the ending... the game was wasted on you, is all I'm saying).

That was... a lot LMAO. But the more I see people call Ethan boring, the more I shake my head and go like Please learn a tiny bit about storymaking before criticising a game WITH A STORY IN IT. With all that in mind, it's no surprise to see people completely lose the point of why Ethan told Heisenberg to fuck off instead of considering telling him "yeah sure go ahead and use my daughter whose dismemberment a few hours ago you were an accessory to" for even just one moment. It's basic rules of the creative process.

All that said, I think it would have been interesting to see how fucked up things would get if Ethan had allowed Heisenberg to use Rose. Maybe Heisenberg's plan would've backfired and Rose would have died for good, and imagine seeing Ethan's reaction to that?? Especially since in re7, if you choose Zoe, you have to kill Mia yourself for good, that could've been paralleled in re8 by Rose ending up dying, leaving Ethan a hopeless, helpless mess. Maybe in his rage and grief he would've turned at Heisenberg and absolutely demolish him. And then he would've been left alone, hating himself for the poor choice he took. Definitely lots of angst and whump potential :3
