i've never seen a ladybug larva get defensive or even react to its surroundings at all but this seven-spotted ladybug (Coccinella septempunctata) Really hated the way i got in its face for a frontal shot. it started ineffectually flailing at me and chomping at random things like an angry baby

I was wondering if ladybugs, ladybirds, or ladybeetles (I know they're all the same thing but the names are cute) can be other colors than red or orange. Do you know? I don't trust Google images, but I trust you ^^

Aw, aren’t you sweet! Well, I’ve definitely had the opportunity to see lots of color variations of lady beetle. From black to almost pink-ish! There’s a tree outside my place where they like to lay eggs every year so I get to see them often. Last week I even saw one that had pale spots, it was really pretty! Here’s a picture:

A common species, but this specimen is quite interesting.

The variable ladybug (as the name suggests) comes in a variety of forms, from spots, to blotches, to stripes. This specimen has four spots on its elytra, but has faded stripe markings also. A strange mixture of two separate forms the ladybug can come in.

yellow ladybugs are not uncommon, but they're usually a very vibrant yellow. Oenopia lyncea here, a tiny obscure species that i've only ever seen a couple of times, is a more muted custard-y yellow that i actually like a lot. also, the markings on the pronotum look like a friendly ghost

Hello miraculous ladybug fandom, promises and promises of mine where done about ladybugs designs, anatomy etc and I failed all of them unfortunately.

But!

I now have a list of 40 ladybug species names cataloged with Wikipedia links and their native places! Is wonky because I did all alone and many of them have almost nothing on the internet but is done! I plan on going forward and keep adding new ladybugs as time goes but that will take a while since there's 5.000 species :| but I love those little beetles so I'm having fun searching them.

I think it might be useful for aus, designs, headcanons etc or just for fun. Is a PDF and will be on my pinned post soon so If anyone wants to check it out feel free!

A little buddy i found at my grandparents house, this is Cycloneda sanguinea lady beetle also commenly known as spotless lady beetle, is a species native to latin america that is great for protecting corps against aphids.
