Day: 16 Wow, all my groups are Star Wars related. • 1. The 501st Legion. We’re a global Star Wars costuming club that mainly does charity appearances. We also attend expos, work with Make A Wish and Ronald McDonald House to help sick kids, and every once in a blue moon, we work with Disney/LFL in things like the Rose Bowl Parade. Our slogan is, “Bad guys doing good.” • 2. The Rebel Legion (RL). Much like the 501st, we are a charity based costume club of Star Wars characters, but we’re the “good” guys. I’ve been a member of the 501st and RL since 2016 and they’ve kind of become like a second family to me. • 3. The Mandalorian Mercs Costuming Club. It’s another of the groups that works closely alongside the 501st & RL. We however get to customize most of our costume, making us very unique. I’ve been a member since 2017 and I absolutely adore my mando armour! • The last two pictures are The Ladies of the Legions (LotL), and Pride Squadron. LotL is a group dedicated specifically to the women amongst primarily the 3 groups mentioned above as well as some of the other affiliated Star Wars groups. It’s a haven for us to discuss costuming challenges and to post our progress and trooping pictures without getting ogled or harassed. Pride Squadron is a similar group but for those of us in the QUILTBAG+ community. It’s a safe place for those of us who aren’t out publicly—and those of us that are—to be out together and share our pride through our costuming and pride event pictures. It also offers information on how to more comfortably costume characters while transitioning, or if you just don’t fit in any specific gender box at all. Both these groups are closed to people not part of each specific community to keep them safe spaces. • Admittedly, not all of the groups I’m part of always get along which is sad. We also have some pretty strict rules you have to adhere to in order to be in any of these groups which can discourage people.
