A few notes:

Classic Napoleon trying to make something as utilitarian and cost-effective as possible (lol)

A well documented trend of Napoleon becoming much more indecisive and unsure of himself as he got older and more powerful

The “Temple of Glory” still exists in Paris, but it is today called La Madeleine. It was designed as a neoclassical monument but was converted to a church after Napoleon’s fall. It retains the neoclassical design, making it a pretty interesting and unique church.
