The Mongrel Mage (The Recluse Saga book 19) by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. (book review).
The Mongrel Mage (The Recluse Saga book 19) by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. (book review).
‘The Mongrel Mage’ is the 19th novel in the on-going ‘The Recluse Saga’ but you don’t have to read the other eighteen to follow it. Even so, I imagine that most people who buy this book will have some of the others and at least understand Modesitt’s magical system of order and chaos. Essentially, order is the binding force that holds things together and chaos is free energy. Wounds contain chaos…

4.0 out of 5 stars Good collection of short stories for Recluce fans
5.0 out of 5 stars Immensely Satisfying! This collection is like a fine mortar tying the bricks of the main Recluse novels together...filling in those odd voids between stories. Tantalizing glimpses of the early Cyador days, the Accursed Forest, the beginnings of Recluse as a nation and the unimaginably large war that occasionally "burps" some of it's combatants into an alternative world with a different set of physics...a world where magic (or something close to it) reigns.I want more! Go to Amazon
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Collection of Recluce Tales I especially enjoyed some of the answers to questions I'd had about various characters and story arcs throughout the Saga of Recluce. There were answers to questions I'd never thought of, too. I would think this collection is best suited to people who've read many or most of the Recluce novels, as many of them assume a certain understanding of order, chaos, and Canadian geography. Go to Amazon
4.0 out of 5 stars all the short stories were enjoyed. I really liked the ones that touched on ... all the short stories were enjoyed. I really liked the ones that touched on char.'s and stories already written. this book kind of "fleshed out" the recluse continuum . all in all I had a good time reading these stories and would love to see a like book come out as soon as possible. I am sure I would "one click" purchase it as soon as it was out. james ghiotto Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars Great I am already a big Recluce fan, so am a bit biased. I enjoyed this book very much. The stories were all a good length and shed some light on the overall Recluce story. Some Recluce books are a bit overlong, so it was nice to read stories from this universe that wrapped up more quickly. Any fan of the series should get this book. Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner I've loved every book this guy has written. He has several series, including the long Recluse one. Great Sci-Fi mixed with fantasy. Strong characters. Good action mixed with interesting long parts of the story without much action; because of the characters. One of the great writers. Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets! I have been a fan of L.E.Modesitt Jr for many years and have read many of his books several times. Recluce Tales was a special treat for me..have read several stories 2 and 3 times, each time finding something new or ties to other books. Best Yet! Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent read from Modesitt Another excellent read from Modesitt! Having read all the Recluse books, you will want to read these tales which fill in many of the missing links in the stories he has written. A must read for all Recluse fans! Go to Amazon
