Now that I am back in university and the autumn season is creeping in I feel like watching the Lalaloopsy Girls: Welcome to L.A.L.A Prep School movie

Been rewatching old Lalaloopsy stuff, so far up to the pre-Nick Jr. stuff and all the little differences and details and I need somewhere to ramble and you're the only Lalaloopsy fan I know of so-

-The fact that they lean so much more into the fact that they're dolls. The shininess of their eyes, the callbacks to the playsets in real life, the fact that they can fall from great heights and not be injured. I'd say that they somewhat less polished voice acting helps to emphasize this, like they're really just being played with by little girls.

-How unique each of the littles are. They all seem to be slightly different ages (Bundles is less good at talking and speaks in the third person, Sprinkle had a clearer voice but only says small phrases, Squirt can speak longer sentences, and Specs is nonverbal but clearly extremely intelligent). They each have slightly different relationships with their sisters as well - Mittens is more parental with Bundles, Crumbs is a lot more doting, Bea treats Specs like an annoying little sibling, and Squirt is basically Peanut's assistant.

-The way the pets are animated and how much character they're given. (The littles' pets are irrelevant which is hilarious to me)

-Rosy just popping up in random places a la that one Persona 4 food delivery girl

-All the unique quirks given to each character to flesh them out that are left out of the Nick series (Pillow's narcolepsy, Mittens' snow magic, Peanut and Jewel being somewhat more sassy in a way, Jewel being into dance, Specs being nonverbal, Dot being easily distracted, etc)

-All of the smaller locations added to Lalaloopsy Land to give it more personality, like the playground or the flower fields

-Idk I'm just really normal right now I am so sorry-

I find it heartwarming how many fans are popping up to send asks. Considering the last piece of animated media dropped in 2017 and the 10th anniversary dolls are 3-4 years old now; It truly goes to show that there's always a fandom for something! Even if its just a handful of people or one fan getting their friends into it. I love talking to everyone and making art again.

I love that the earlier works for the series plays with and leans into the fact that they are dolls. Its subtle but works for what the series is meant to be. As much as I love the later series and thinks it does stuff well I can admit that some of the charm can be lost in the transition.

That's part of why I like the implication that the dolls were aging. Just like us, the former children who were playing out little stories with them the dolls and their stories were maturing. Though MGA never fully committed to any real over arching plot. Which is why I want too. We've seen it work with MLP and Ever After High (other series meant to sell dolls).

I do also miss

Specs being Nonverbal (I was actually so upset when she talked in her birthday episode. Her being nonverbal worked really well for her. And I liked the idea of her and Charlotte possibly being able to bond over communicating differently than their peers)

Mittens' snow magic. (There was a lot of potential to explore with it.)

Jewel's love of dance (It appears a bit in the Nick Jr. series but not much at all in L.A.L.A. Prep or We're Lalaloopsy. It's a cute part of her character. Gives her more hobbies than just...existing? ( I have really complex thoughts about Jewel and her roll in most series). And explains her dynamic with Tippy)

I also miss in general the amount of characters in the series. I understand that the later series never made it as far as the 26 episode a piece two season run Nick Jr. did. And I do feel like We're Lalaloopsy was setting up to include Cloud E. Sky. I would give anything for it to pull a Care Bears: Unlock the magic and drop a second season years after its initial run.

Hello again I'm here to post another update of my Lalaloopsy watchalong! As I'm writing this, I've watched all of the specials except for L.A.L.A Prep (You have no idea how hard it is to find a free source of it ever since Internet Archive is down) and reached in the halfway mark of Season 2 with "The Case of the Missing Pickles" being my latest watch.

Y'know it's crazy how jawdropping it is to find myself be attracted to a franchise I personally never grew any nostalgia about let alone a toy brand lol (Except for LEGO that brand rules!!) I do have an answer is to why I have to feel that way and that's probably how simplistic and fun it is. It's a kids show so obviously I knew it would be simple and wouldn't have the best writing known to man but it just has this whimsical charm and creativity of its world and characters that I clearly see why then and now people would be attached to the animated shows.

Even before watching Lalaloopsy I was watching other kids shows before this like Sofia the First and Bubble Guppies which have their own charms (maybe I'll make a post about em who knows ;D) Anyway the takeaway is that the show and specials are just simple dumb fun and with what's presented it leaves so much to the imagination that I honestly was considering on maybe trying my hand in writing a lalaloopsy fanfic. That could be a breather for my writer's brain since I usually focus on the more complex ideas lol.

That's it for now peeps. Once again thx for sticking by to the end of this post and chances are I'll probably finish off the first show by tomorrow before moving on to "We're Lalaloopsy" I know that show has a mixed reception but hey I am curious to see that once I'm done!

The entire life force of a world almost drains out because of a giant strawberry

This happens in the movie Lala-Oopsies: A Sew Magical Tale, where the strawberry milk that flows all over Lala-Oopsies Land suddenly stops flowing, and starts draining from the world, making the colors from land start fading. The problem is solved when a giant strawberry is dislodged from the big straw that makes the milk flow.

Worldwide shortage of sugar

This happens in the movie Lalaloopsy: Festival of Sugary Sweets. The sugar shortage threatens the Festival, and participants cannot make all their sweet treats without sugar.

Attempt to lure someone out of hiding via cookie crumb trail

(This was the only option with zero votes! Glad to know we're all familiar with the first movie!)

This happens in Adventures in Lalaloopsyland: The Search for Pillow. After Pillow goes missing, Crumbs and her sister Sprinkle try to make Pillow come out by crumbling up a batch of cookies and leaving a trail...which Sprinkle and Mouse eat off of the ground.

The pet cats of two characters have kittens together

This happens in the Netflix series We're Lalaloopsy, episode 13B, "Storm E. Sky's Arrive." Storm E's cat and Jewel's cat reveal that the two have had kittens.

Friendly alien lands on Earth

Of course, this is about Haley Galaxy's debut in the Nick Jr. show, season 2, episode 15: So Near and yet So Far. Haley hides on Dot's spaceship, afraid to come out, before Dot offers to help her get home.

A presidential election, complete with debates.

But for with the kind of debates you may be thinking of! This happens in Lalaloopsy Girls: Welcome to L.A.L.A. Prep School. Jewel and Storm E. compete for the favor of their peers to become class president, with debates composed of study questions rather than debate topics.

Art block

This may have happened more than once, but the instance I thought of was in Lalaloopsy: Band Together, in which Spot keeps trying to make some revolutionary new art piece, only to find out she's done all of them before, and can't think of new ideas.

Eight characters knowing each other as babies

Correction: Only six of the original eight dolls show up as babies in this movie. Justice for Dot and Spot!!!

The original 8 dolls all knew each other since they were babies! In Lalaloopsy Babies: First Steps, we get to see all of them as adorable babies playing with each other for the first time!

It rains gumdrops

Another Netflix show event! Episode 12A, "Dot's Big Storm." Storm E.'s van is fueled by rain, so she asks Dot to create a storm for her. Things don't exactly go as planned.

Okay okay hm, any thoughts on Jewel and Storm E. relationship(or one/the other), I want to know what other people think about them

Cause, I to, have thoughts about them

I just think their neat and fruity

Jewel and Storm E.'s dynamic is one of my favorites!

They are polar opposites on the surface. Designed to clash with their aesthetics and their interests. Jewel likes being the center of attention and pink frilly hyper femineity. She's organized and likes to feel in control. Storm E. is rather reserved letting others take the spotlight and while not rejecting femineity doesn't participate in it to the extreme Jewel does. She likes a little chaos and watching it play out.

Yet both girls are rather similar under the surface. Both have a tendency to fixate on themselves. Sometimes at the expensive of others. Neither one do it out of malice but it is a byproduct. Both are heavily opinionated and don't often hesitate to voice it. And its those similarities that cause them to clash the most.

I love Storm E. and Jewel's relationship.

Storm E. enjoys annoying Jewel. She likes getting a reaction from her. Jewel is easy to tease and fluster so its fun to her. And it's clear that Storm E. knows her well enough to know what makes her tick but also what she enjoys.

Jewel likes receiving the attention. Storm E. may annoy her but she also makes things interesting in a way the other girls don't. Her and Storm E. are capable of getting along. In L.A.L.A Prep specifically she states that she enjoys the playful rivalry and finds it equally fun. In We're Lalaloopsy its more competitive but even then she still wants Storm E. to like her.

Coming at this from a fandom/shipping perspective they're dynamic is equally fun. A mundane princess and a reserved musician? Sign me up. Jewel and Storm E. developing feelings for one another would be such a hot mess. Storm E. would assumes she's sick before she'd recognize it as being a crush. And Jewel would deny deny deny for as long as she possibly could.

In the L.A.L.A. Prep canon the idea of a Jewel catching feelings first amuses me. Storm E. is her self established rival. They're polar opposites! Storm E. is not a suitable suitor for a Princess such as herself. Surely it's just a fluke. But Storm E. challenges her in a way that's engaging and has an energy she's never seen before. She's mysterious and reserved. Tall, dark, and foreboding in an alluring way. And then when Storm E. smiles it sticks with her. It was weird at first but she cant stop thinking about it. It drives her nuts because how is she, student body president, suppose to go about handling a crush on her rival without kneecapping her social status.

In the We're Lalaloopsy canon it being Storm E. who falls first and falls hard is so humorous to me. She's just like her Cat now. What happened to not getting attached! And of all the people in the town WHY JEWEL. Begrudgingly she has to admit to herself that she finds Jewel pretty and kind of funny. That she likes getting a rise out of her because she finds Jewels mannerisms endearing. That she is 'unfortunately' enamored by her pompous neighbor. That she finds her cute.
