Kylo looked at the sickening magical lights that illuminated the entire village. Absolutely disgusting.

He was almost out of the shadows when the door of the nearest house opened and one of the elves came out into the street. He pulled off his stupid cap, revealing his bright red hair and long ears, after that he screamed angrily and began kicking the fence decorated with lights.

Well, this is... interesting.

Kylo found himself intrigued. Aren't Christmas elves supposed to always be awfully happy and sing their silly songs?

The elf was so engrossed in what he was doing that he didn’t notice how Kylo got close.

Warnings: Fake married Kylux, Exile AU, accidental child acquisition, 

Kylo Ren hadn’t expected to be followed by a little girl. 

He had just gone to the market 2 clicks north of their tiny farm home on Lothal. Hux didn't come along because he was fixing one of the harvest droids. It was lonely without his (fake) husband, but it made the trip go faster without his hemming and hawing over the price of fruit. 

Ren had noticed a small child following him at the market and chalked it up to the appearance of an outsider causing the girl’s curiosity. However, his senses must have dulled over the years of comfortable living. When they first went into exile, they had to be constantly vigilant or a bounty hunter would kill them or take them to the Republic.

That was his excuse when he got back to his home and found that the little girl had managed to follow him the entire way there.

“Ren, you do know that ‘small child’ was not on the grocery list?” Hux asked from his place by the droid he was fixing.

Ren whipped around and saw the girl standing next to the speeder bike. She couldn’t have been older than 8 or 9. She was thin and dressed in dirty clothes. 

“Mr. Amy wasn’t at the market.” She said sheepishly. 

Hux gave a small laugh and went over to her. She looked up at him expectantly. 

“I'm alright, Lyra. I just have some droids to fix.”

“But you said I could help you, the last time you were at the market.” The little girl – Lyra – pouted, her big brown eyes blinking sadly.

“I know but I didn't have time to get you.” 

“Well, I'm here now.” Lyra put her hands on her hips.

“Alright, you can help me now.” Lyra cheered and followed Hux over to his workstation, “Ren, you can handle putting away the supplies?”

Kylo didn’t get to respond, before the little girl grabbed him and pulled him away. He sighed and did as he was told. When he was finished, he looked outside to see Hux teaching Lyra about the droids. Everytime Ren took a break from his chores, he’d look and see the two working. It was kinda cute seeing the former hardass General Hux talking to a small child so sweetly and taking care to teach her. 

It was well past sunset when the two came inside the house. Ren was shocked that Lyra was still there, certain that her parents would have come to collect her.

So, Lyra had dinner with them and stayed the night.

Then, she did the same thing the next night. 

And the next.

Neither Ren nor Hux knew when this small child started to become a part of their family. 

“I think it was when I first showed up.” Lyra told her fathers before she blew out the candles on her 20th birthday.

1. Three ships: Uh, yeah, I only have one right now because I don't think my brain could handle another. God knows my "Marked for Later" list on AO3 certainly couldn't, either 😅. Kylux, obviously.

2. First ever ship? In my head? Merry/Pippin from LOTR, though I admitted that to NO ONE at the time. First written ship was a female OC whom I wasn't entirely sure whether I shipped with Aragorn or Legolas...decisions, decisions.

3. Last song? I honestly cannot remember, though there was an excellent chance it was something by Within Temptation.

4. Last film? Crazy Rich Asians (only a few years late watching it, shame on me!).

5. Currently reading: Besides like three different fics—The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. I just couldn't stop thinking about that breathtaking Sleepy Hollow art by @klodwig. Tell me I don't need to write a Sleepy Hollow AU until I finish my other WIPs.

6. Currently watching: NCIS. Second time for me, but I thought my husband would love it (and he does).

7. Currently consuming: Nothing, because it's 4:00 in the morning and I need to go back to sleep.

8. Currently craving: These pumpkin cranberry streusel muffins...which I've been craving for like a week and will hopefully make soon. They're great, but on the tart side—make sure you like cranberries if you make them!

The Great War is kylux coded already in my mind but I want your thoughts

(for the send me a taylor swift song and I'll make a kylux au thing I created on a whim)

OKAY SO I WAS THINKING ABOUT THIS ALL DURING MY SHIFT TODAY

(also the other ones, I'm typing them all out now in reverse order bc that's how they are in my ask box)

I'm adopting this as an eternal game and maybe with all songs but i have an eclectic but picky musical taste so who knows??

the great war could be the soundtrack for every fucking amazingly well-written canon exploration fic so I had to get a little creative, which brings us to my brain.

I started with war, then went to battle ground, then to battle ground STATES, and that's how you get presidential election au

Leia Organa, long time senator, finally pulls the trigger on running for president. She's got strong polling, she knows she's an incredible candidate for the democrats. She's a little old, but she's moderate enough that some republicans will vote from her, given her practical stance on military matters.

The republican party has a plan, though, and it's Armitage Hux, 36, four-time representative of a normally democratic congressional district, and they love him, and the democratic party CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY. (It's because his district is mainly rich white people, a language he is fluent in. He's in favor of mild gun control because he read the ENTIRE second amendment and knows that free guns doesn't meet the definition of a well-organized militia and still goes to church every Sunday, although republicans wish he wasn't catholic.)

This is a problem for the Organa campaign, because they're terrified of Hux's youth. He's a gifted public speaker, he's hired good staff, some of whom were poached directly from the D triple C bc they would like politicians to be less OLD, and he's a moderate enough republican they can stomach working for him.

The biggest issue? Armitage Hux is gay, has been secretly seeing Organa's son for several months after literally running into him in the halls of congress, and knows that the time for him to tell the public about this and not torpedo his campaign was several months ago.

Kylo can play interference all he wants, tell Leia the guy he's seeing isn't serious, lie and say he's busy, explain away why he's spending so much time in DC when he never has before, but he's caught going into Hux's apartment a few days before the first debate, pressing a kiss Hux's cheek as seen by telephoto lens, and nothing he says will make Hux feel like it wasn't all a set up, that Organa's son didn't seduce him with the full intent to ruin his political career so Leia could take the white house.
