So we were singing this worship song today, the one that goes, "You are good, you're good oohhh, you are good, you're good oohhh..." and I just had pop into my mind, "but He's not tame." Thank you, CS Lewis, for that memorable bit of dialog.
And it just had me thinking all through the song. Do you think that weird attraction to bad boys that so many girls have is a corrupted longing for God? Because we put so much focus on God's goodness, and we ignore that He is not *safe*. This is the God of the wild. He isn't just the one who can calm the waves... He is the one who first *created* the waves. And I just don't think we really think about or appreciate that enough.

[Music] End of the World - Kutless Ft. Disciple’s Kevin Young
Tumblr media
Christian rock mainstay Kutless has released a concept-heavy, apocalyptic new single “End of the World.” The song features a guest vocal from Kevin Young of Disciple. You can find “End of the World” on your service of choice at https://kutless.ffm.to/endoftheworld. The cinematic rock track offers some of the heaviest guitars from the band to date, paired with celestial tones and weighty lyrics. “The song deals with the pain and suffering we are seeing around the world, an indictment against apathy and the refusal to help when we witness the destruction of innocent lives,” guitarist James Mead reveals. “The song ultimately turns into an evangelistic plea, asking listeners ‘do you need a miracle?’” Full lyrics are available in the lyric video, which you can watch below. “This is where streets run with the blood of the beaten, the broken… but we refuse to help them, our doors left unopened.” The guest vocals from Kevin Young kick in on the bridge before the song thunders to its conclusion, clocking in at just under six minutes in length. From beginning to end, “End of the World” sees Kutless pushing the boundaries of their hard rock sound to previously unexplored frontiers. “End of the World” is the latest installment in Kutless’ comeback, a triumphant return that began in July with their nostalgic Twenty EP and later led to September’s single “Words of Fire.” The songs are the first hints of what fans can expect from a forthcoming full length album— the band’s first in over five years. This renaissance for one of faith-based rock’s most beloved bands has also included the podcast Rock in a Hard Place. Hosted by lead singer Jon Micah Sumrall and guitarist James Mead, the podcast offers fans a glimpse into the stories and insights that have shaped Kutless’s genre-defining songs. Oh!! KB and Lacrae! Two of my brothers like KB a lot. (They listen to more rap than I do though.)
If you would like a Christian rap recommendation, I would really say NF. (I don't really listen to rap, and only got into his music because of the aforementioned brothers.) His music is incredibly personal and can be very heavy in what topics he talks about, but it's also really good. (His song "Therapy Session" has a trigger warning before the music video starts. So be careful with that.) He doesn't swear or talk sex at all, because that's not what his music is about. And he has been ridiculed for it at least once. (Which I personally find ridiculous. I don't really like swearing at all, and enjoy when artists create music without it, personally.) You might like some of his stuff. His first really big hit was "Let You Down" in 2017, that's when he started gaining popularity in both Christian and Secular circles.
Audio A is really good. I don't know how I never mentioned them before! They were a huge part of my childhood music. Wonderful.
I can't say I've ever listened to chants before. Sounds interesting.
I will say, one of my favorite bands that can have a bit of a harder rock edge is Kutless. They have several worship albums, and one of my favorites by them is "It Is Well" which is an old hymn that they 'updated' really well.

I also really like their cover of the old Petra song "Take Me In"

Idk I just think those might be songs you'd enjoy.🙂
Hello. It's been almost two years since I first posted about Christian Rock music, so I'm gonna go ahead and talk more about that. (Some of this will be basically the same, just with some updated information.) (@dp-marvel94 if you have any to add, I know you know some more than me.)
In case any of y'all didn't know, I am a Christian. I grew up in the church and still go regularly. (If you want specifics, I'm Non-Denominational.) Growing up, I listened to a lot of Christian Rock, because that's what my parents (especially my Dad) like.
Christian Rock is a fairly new thing. And honestly, it's only recently getting on par with a lot of the secular stuff. Mainly because back in the 60s-90s it was seen as "the Devil's music." But there were bands even back then that had really good (on par with the secular stuff of the day) music. Some examples include:
Resurrection Band/Rez Band/Rez. Some of the biggest pioneers of modern Christian metal and hard rock. They were a band in the 70s through the 90s. More blues rock than metal in my personal opinion, but still not bad. (They had two different music videos on MTV in the 80s. Which is a pretty big deal.)
Petra. I mentioned them in my first post, I grew up hearing some of their stuff, very 70s rock. Not bad if you like that kind of music.
Larry Norman. Another artist I mentioned in my first post. He was definitely one that called out a lot of Church culture for being not-so-Christlike. (Ex. "The Great American Novel.")
Those guys are just a few of the artists that really made modern Christian Rock possible. Without them, we wouldn't really have any others. I linked one song from each of them that I think really showcase their talent. (Excepting Larry Norman who got two linked songs.) The 90s is I think where Christian rock really started to meet up with Secular rock.
One Bad Pig, for example, is very 90s metal. Loud disruptive and very hard. (They got the name "One Bad Pig" after seeing the mascot for the St. Louis radio station KSHE95 which is a pig. Apparently upon seeing it, one of the band members said, "That is One Bad Pig!" And they liked that for a band name.) I will warn though, that they do scream and have a generally more...metal feel than some of the others.
There's also dc Talk. (Which you may recognise as the band that started TobyMac's career.) A mix of rap, and rock, they had a style that was really popular with the youths of the time. (Fun fact: the senior pastor at my church was a backup dancer for them in the "Nu Thang" era.)

Daily Service: Strong Tower
Kutless – Strong Tower   Updated from Volume 25 I asked my prayer warrior friend what verse was special to her recently. This is what she gave me. Now, remember I have been talking about how Psalms are Songs and a lot of Christian Music is based on Psalms. It is the reason I have been doing Singing Psalms for a while now, as well as the Treasury of David by Charles Spurgeon. Psalm 61:3-4…
