"I sent a donation to the Venmo/PayPal, where is my money going to be sent?"

If you would like to donate money to help families in Gaza, but don't know which charities or GoFundMe's to support, a great option is sending your donation via Venmo or PayPal, so a charity and GoFundMe will be chosen for you. But this option doesn't come without risks, mainly "How do I know my money isn't being pocketed by the organizers of this event?" This is a very legitimate concern, which we hope to eliminate by explaining where your donation will go with this post.

Is your donation large or small?

If you send less than $10 USD, you will be considered a small donation. Anything that meets $10 USD or over is considered a large donation. Why $10? We decided to split our donations in half so we can simultaneously support established and trusted charities, while also supporting vetted GoFundMes that will help families more directly. However, the minimum donation amount for GoFundMe (and some charities) is $5 USD, so by meeting a cash out requirement of $10 USD, we will be meeting the minimum allowed to donate.

What happens to my donation?

If you send less than $10 USD, your money will be pooled with other small donations until the sum meets at least $10 USD. Once it reaches this number, the funds will be split in half, and $5 will be sent to an established charity, and the other $5 will be sent to a vetted GoFundMe. The same thing happens if your donation is $10 or greater, but without pooling together the funds.

How do I know you aren't keeping the money for yourself?

This is a very real and legitimate concern, which unfortunately we must address. There have been people who are known to have taken advantage of the genocide in Palestine, and used it as a way to make monetary gain for themselves, without donating to families in need. In order to stay completely transparent with our audience, we will include proof of donation attached to every piece posted, so that donors know exactly where the money they personally donated is being sent and how it's helping Palestinians.

This still seems pretty suspicious...

If you still have your doubts, no worries! You can still receive a piece of art/fic/edit by donating to other charities and GoFundMes that you may trust more. However, if you choose this option, you must include proof of your donation (screenshot) in the request form. This information will be kept completely confidential, and is only held onto for record holding purposes.
