Imagine Tenzin, consumed by grief after Lin's passing, deciding to follow her into the afterlife.

After reading the bittersweet fanfic "Meant To Be" by @risingsoleil (check her ao3 page if you are a linzin fan. She's an amazing writer. I love her works!), an idea came to me: what if Tenzin journeyed through the 9 circles of Hell before reuniting with Lin in Paradise? Drawing from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, specifically Dante's Inferno, Tenzin would confront his deepest fears and regrets in each circle, leading to a powerful and emotional reunion with Lin in the afterlife.

So here's Tenzin:

I chose a red arrow instead of blue to symbolize that he took his own life, which is why he's in Hell (all life is sacred). I dressed him in a red robe and added a golden choker. Finally, he has an earring with Lin's eye color, given to him by his guide.

His guide, Iroh:

In this story, He is Tenzin's Virgil, guiding him through the 9 circles of Hell. Lin asks Iroh to help Tenzin on his journey and gives him the earring that Tenzin wears. It's a symbol of Lin's presence with him throughout the journey.

Lastly, Lin:

Tenzin's Beatrice is waiting for him in Paradise. he’s also wearing an earring with Tenzin’s eye color, showing that she’s waiting for him on the other side.

9 Circles of Hell:

The First Circle: Limbo

He comes across an unborn child and learns that Lin had a miscarriage after they broke up. He then sees a vision of what their life might have been if the child had lived. When he snaps out of this illusion, he finds himself holding a deformed baby.

The Second Circle: Lust

He reflects on his own desires and the complicated nature of his love for Lin. Temptations hit hard with visions of women pampering him, including an illusion of Pema. Just as he's about to give in, he sees Lin watching him, which snaps him back to his true goal: to be with her.

The Third Circle: Gluttony

He witnesses wealthy high-ranking figures, some from the Earth Kingdom, being devoured by beasts. They endlessly heal and suffer, showing the impact of their excessive wealth on others. This makes him rethink his own lifestyle.

The Fourth Circle: Greed

He sees greedy souls, including mercenaries and assassins like the combustion bender who hunted his parents, being crushed by boulders of gold. This makes him reflect on his own struggles—not for money, but the selfishness that came from the pressure to repopulate the Air Nation after his father’s death.

The Fifth Circle: Wrath

He encounters fallen soldiers from endless wars, especially Fire Nation armies from the Hundred Year War, stuck in muddy rivers that act like quicksand. This scene stirs up memories of the conflicts he and Lin faced before their breakup.

The Sixth Circle: Heresy

He sees people consumed by evil spirits. Unalaq is burning in a fiery tomb as punishment for his dark deeds. It makes him think about whether his own followers, who idolize airbenders, might end up suffering the same way.

The Seventh Circle: Violence

He sees the spirits of Fire Nation leaders who committed violence against innocents. One of them is the person who killed his grandmother. He realizes he belongs in this circle too, as he committed violence by taking his own life.

The Eighth Circle: Fraud

He sees scammers, manipulators, and impostors who deceive others for their gain. Hama, the first bloodbender, pretends to be a helpless old woman to trick people like Katara into helping her get revenge. He also sees an illusion of himself saying he's a fraud, struggling to be himself while trying to meet others’ expectations.

The Ninth Circle: Treachery

Finally, he sees betrayers, including Firelord Sozin and Ozai, frozen in icy pits. One of them accuses him, saying, “You also betrayed Lin—remember, you cheated!” The crowd roars, but as he’s overwhelmed by darkness, the earring starts to glow. Iroh steps in to guide him to the exit.

Reaching Paradise:

After everything that happened, Lin hugged him tightly. They stood there for a moment, just holding each other, overwhelmed by the joy of being reunited. Their smiles said it all—despite the pain and challenges, they were together again, and that made everything worthwhile.

"I died," Lin said quietly. "And you weren’t there."

"I know," he replied, looking down. "I heard from Akna about your last words..."

"Shhh," Lin cut him off gently, her voice softening. "No need to dwell on that."

"But I came here," he said earnestly, his eyes meeting hers.

"You came to find me," Lin said, her eyes shining with happiness.

"Of course I did," he said with a tender smile. "I couldn’t do anything else."

Then Lin gave him a bit of a lecture about his actions.

I can't draw, but I can write and use my imagination well enough to picture wof ocs in my head.

YR week 2023 - FAQ

General

What is Young Royals week? A fandom event where all YR content creators are invited to create new content for the YR fandom. Each day of the week, there is a new prompt to inspire creators to come up with a short fic, a quick doodle, or something else entirely. The end result will be a sort of potluck of new content to read, admire, enjoy, share and discuss!

When does it take place? YR week 2023 takes place from April 24th to April 30th.

What pairings/characters are allowed? All of them. Whether it's about our beloved wilmon or that one extra with 5 seconds of screen time you fell in love with - as long as the main focus is on one or more YR characters, you're good to go.

What type of content is allowed? Fic, playlists, meta, headcanons, gifsets, collages, picrews, cosplay, drawings, ... if you can make a post about it, we can reblog it.

Participation

How do I sign up? Because we want to encourage as many people as possible to participate, there are no formal sign ups. If you wanna join, you can, simple as that!

What are the prompts? You can find the prompts here.

I'm not sure how to interpret X prompt. However you want, really! E.g. for the "fairytale" prompt you could rewrite a fairytale with your favorite pairing, or have a character reading a fairytale to his/her (future) children, or a superfluffy scene in which a character mentions "feeling like they're living a fairytale", or ... The prompts are there to inspire you, not limit you - so use them as you see fit!

I don’t have time to create something for each day / I don't feel inspired by the day X prompt. You are under no obligation at all to create something for each prompt. So whether you create something for one day or all days, or even three things for one day and none for the others - we're looking forward to see it!

I’m not much of a content creator / don't have time to create anything. Can I still participate? Yes, you abolutely can! After all, sharing is caring, and that goes double for fandom content. So like, kudo, reblog or comment, send your favorite author a sweet ask or reblog your favorite artist's entire portfolio - there are plenty of ways to show the YR week content creators how much we appreciate them!

Posting

Where/How do I post what I created? Make a new tumblr post* that either contains what you created, or contains a link to the content on a different platform (e.g. a post with your artwork, a link to a fic on ao3, ...) and tag it with #yr week 2023. We will then reblog it to the hillerskalibrary for more visibility!

*remember that only new posts show up in the tags, so if you reblog a post and tag it, we probably will not see it! if you do prefer to reblog rather than make a new post, make sure to mention (@) hillerskalibrary on the post itself.

When should I post? We will post each prompt at 10am GMT+1, which will signal the start of that day's posting. However, if you are to the East of us and it's easier for you to post early in your morning (so before the prompt post has gone out), OR if you're to the West and you post late (so when the GMT+1 day is already over) - that is just fine.

It's Wednesday and I only now finished the Monday prompt :(. What, you think people are gonna be mad they're getting more content? Just post it, you're fine!

I'm not on Tumblr - how can I share my content? Just submit it directly to hillerskalibrary, and we will post it for you, no problem!

I’m writing a fantasy series and I fell down a rabbit hole designing some of my main characters’ swords with picrew. So now you get to look at them too.

so, without further ado

Staccato; the blade of Sir Eustace Scrabster. It ought to be a big sword, a greatsword or perhaps even a claymore. It was damaged in the last battle Eustace ever fought in when a cannonball skimmed past it. It has never quite cleaned right since.

The Bevelled Edge; the sword of Thomas Monarad. A neat rapier. Simple, swift; the layman’s sword, though Thomas is a better swordsman than most laymen. He only took the sentimentality to name it because in Invernotch it is considered bad luck not to name a blade.

Dyrnwyn; the sword of Ildey Ardtornish - Her Royal Highness, Princess Ildey III, She Who Dances In Flames With Oundle Themself. The blade is long and thin but undeniably for slashing rather than stabbing - no common rapier here. If a ballet dancer was to use a sword, this would be it. The runes are similar to those used on flying broomsticks in Invernotch (favoured by the International Haufstander Postal Service and the Department of Witches) to lessen the sword’s weight; however this means that if the runes were to be damaged, even perhaps by a decent enough scratch, the user would be thrown off by the sudden change in balance. Luckily, Ildey is probably the greatest swordfighter in the world. (The flames are unrelated to the runes - Ildey channels them herself.)

Iomain; the sword of Wizard Morag Strathney. Morag’s mother was a swordsmith, and despite its appearance the sword is excellent. Supremely sharp, light enough to be carried by the two hands of an eleven year old (it was a birthday present originally) but big enough to still serve a young woman who is actually to her embarrassment not much taller than she was back then. It is more durable than it has any right to be; it has been used to light gunpowder, been struck by lightning more than fifty times (wizards, honestly), rammed into a would-be-god at double the speed of sound and killed and unseelie bear - which it split in two. Morag is the reason people say probably when calling Ildey the greatest swordfighter in the world.

I’m still pretty new, but I think I’ve done a decent amount in such little time, so here’s a few things that stuck out in my mind from the past four and a half months

1. For Real - It’s by far my most popular work (idk when, but recently it hit 50 kudos, which. what the actual fuck) and has been really fun to work on. I have a habit of writing way more than I planned, and For Real’s fallen victim to this, too. I meant for it to be a one shot, then maybe 3 chapters, then a 4th, and now it’s going to be very long with a lot of post villa, but I love the chance to expand on Priya and Hazel, so you’re stuck with them for a while

2. ~grumpy marisol~ - I am by no means an artist, but I’m trying my best, okay? I’m really bad at sitting down and spending time drawing when it’s not absolutely perfect, but I think it turned out better than most things I’ve drawn, even if it’s not by much, so I’ll take the win lmao

3. Repairs - I love the angst and the pining, and writing Erikah of all characters has been really fun. It’s definitely different from most of my works, but in the best way possible. It’s just two chapters with very little plot and an absurd amount of metaphors, and I’m stupid proud of it, especially chapter 1

4. Wildfire - Similar to Repairs, it’s just one long metaphor that’s definitely incredibly excessive. But I like writing feelings and angst and Wildfire was a blast for me. It was a prompt sent in by @kittidot, the super dope person that has tagged me for this, and was my first time writing Hannah. I doubt I would have ever chosen the prompt myself, but it was so perfect for the hopelessly romantic person that is Hannah, so thank you @kittidot for sending it

5. Disney Princess - I never really thought about writing for Aurora, nor did I think I’d be doing a series for Choices, but here we are. It’s right up my alley - following canon events but with a twist to relationships - and I’m pretty happy with what I’ve come up with so far. Plus, I absolutely adore writing grumpy characters, and that’s about all Aurora is. @bubblelaureno was awesome enough to ask me if I’d ever write Aurora a while back, so you only have her to blame for it

6. Bad at Sleeping Alone - A Queen B one shot that was my second venture into writing Choices, and definitely got me more into it. I thought it’d be a bit shorter than it was, but I’m not even mad at it. It’s cute and fun and has some angst, and those are my favourite things to write, so it fits pretty well in my portfolio

7. MCs - Doesn’t quite fit with the rest, but instead of writing this past week or so (i hate course work) I’ve been developing my MCs and their stories a ton, and a while ago I made picrews of all my LITG girlies because I’m obsessed with them, as well as dropped surnames while I work on proper profiles. I know no one cares, but I adore them, so here they are

8. Bowl of Cherries - I don’t know why I love this one so much, but I really do. Sage is probably one of my favourite MCs I’ve written, and Cherry’s never been my go to, but I loved getting to try something new for her. I’m also stupid proud of the closing line, and it’s the only reason I didn’t resolve it and now have to figure out a second part. I have no regrets.
