Sorry for hijacking your post but I have a lot of thoughts on this guy </3

I’m making him like me because fuck it, it helps me work out my own relationship with gender.

I think a large part of it is that Aren doesn’t quite connect to social standards, in particular those related to gender. He’s able to identify patterns in media and maybe even the things I suspect were pushed onto him by his dad. He understands that there are particular characteristics associated with masculinity and has taken a liking to these. However, when thought of like this, being a man is a title Aren has taken on, not an actual connection to his gender.

With this, there’s less wiggle room for him to step outside those boundaries and still ‘be a man’. If he connected it to his gender, there would be less emphasis on following certain traits because it’s entwined with his identity: even if he was sensitive or emotional (i.e. traditionally feminine traits), it wouldn’t change anything because it’s a part of who he is as a person.

But, if it’s more of a role he’s taken upon, stepping outside those very strictly defined standards means he’s not fulfilling the rules set out. It means that he’s not a man, because being a man means a, b, and c, and you can’t be one without those. He isn’t actually connected to being a man, he’s connected to the idea of being one.

This disconnect leads to Aren carefully following these guidelines so he can take on this title. I guarantee you the future he’s pictured for himself, one with a wife, 2 kids, a cat, and all of that, is an amalgamation of the things he liked from shows, books, maybe his parent’s relationship. Again, he recognizes patterns, and he takes what he likes from them. But again, it’s all surface level, because it’s not his identity. It’s just a role he can take on. And I think pressure from his environment has made him anxious at the thought of losing that role, which is why he sticks so firmly to it.

And this all feeds into my ‘non-binary Aren’ agenda, LMAO. He’s never questioned it because in his head, he’s fulfilling the roles he’s supposed to; there’s no need to question it outside of that. (He’s okay-ish with presenting as a man, but thinking of himself as one? He doesn’t like to reflect on how it makes him feel)

Yes, some of these traits are Aren’s natural dispositions, such as his protectiveness or confidence. But he recognized the patterns in them and decided to align himself completely with being a man, taking on others as well, like the whole cis-hetero marriage and the baby carriage business, with no thoughts to anything outside of it. It’s what he’s picked up from what he’s seen around him, and being a man means he can’t stray from his values.

Can you write a saiki and gn!reader, where gn! just transferred the school and saiki can't read their mind and tries to figure out why so he starts following them only to discover that they can teleport, turn invisible and is able to prevent people from reading their mind

I left this for a LONG while but now I’m kinda back on my Saiki K brain rot, I’m here to finally do this!

Was this stalking? Potentially…Hypothetically speaking from a certain moral standpoint…yes.

However what made this different from stalking was that Saiki was good at masking his stalking and by ‘good,’ I mean that his friends -mainly Nendo and Kaidou in specific- lack the social awareness skills to detect that he was doing it in the first place; Which was the perfect excuse Saiki could use in continuing to delving deeper into his self appointed mission. To understand how we got to this point in the story where our beloved pink haired, cynic psychic found himself tailing you from a distance under a suspicion, we must go back to that morning where PK Academy was in the midst of receiving of initiating a new transfer student.

First Kuboyasu Aren, then Saiko Metori, now you? Hasn’t the whole transfer student trope ran itself into the ground by this point? Saiki questioned whilst you were going through the mandatory self introductions to the rest of his home room but that wasn’t as engaging as the fact that within the sea of thoughts belonging to his peers, yours, much like Nendo’s, didn’t seem to be there; Not a blip, not a sound, nothing. Almost as though you were made out to have possessed a higher level of comprehension which rendered internalised thoughts and speech almost unethical. Saiki knew that you were smarter then Nendo, which wasn’t saying much as seemingly everyone and their domesticated animals such as dogs and cats were smarter then Nendo.

So why was it that he couldn’t hear your thoughts? He immediately ruled out the probability of you being just like him because that was just wishful thinking based upon little to no factual evidence that could’ve potentially pointed him towards that conclusion. Maybe your thoughts were just too quite for him to hear? Then again Saiki could hear the thoughts of a mouse as clear as day and they were usually quite loud for something so small bodied and generalised as quiet. So before Kaidou begins to inevitably spout his rhetoric. No, Saiki didn’t think you were an impeccably built android with the strength to bench press a bus or two, sent to PK Academy under the employment of Dark Reunion; He just had to get that out there before he would unfortunately be asked by the blue haired boy later on.

With the mystery concerning his shortcomings in reading your thoughts driving the pink haired psychic into a state of potential paranoia. Saiki did what he does best when faced with similar situations; observe from afar. (Read: stalk the person until they’ve proven themselves no longer a threat to him.) which leads us back to where we originally left off.

It was lunch period and Saiki knew something was off when you didn’t follow everyone else to the cafeteria and instead chose to walk in the opposite direction towards the school gates. Where are they going? Don’t tell me they’re already getting lost. Good grief someone should’ve at least shown them the school layout first before dropping them off at home room. On another note it only just occurred to me that in certain tv shows set in a high school and or college, the whole ‘getting lost’ trope just grows increasingly more redundant when you consider the fact that it’s a sloppy, unoriginal and overplayed method used in introducing the love interest(s) to the audience. Goes to show that Show runners have gotten lazier as of recent.

Saiki peers his head out of the doorway just to see that you turn round the corner, unsuspecting of his deadpan gaze, before he checked the hallway of any potentially unwarranted encounters, mentally sighing in relief when he found it vacant of any and all hinderances. Before he turned the same corner, Saiki expected you to be a few paces away from but to his slight surprise, you had vanished; Well corporeally vanished as the pink haired male could still sense that you were still well within his 200 meter radius. Then it occurred to him that you had just turned yourself invisible when you sensed that you were being watched. However before Saiki could react, you had disappeared from his radio is entirely. Enter your second ability: teleportation.

“What’re you following me for?” Your voice came from behind him so suddenly and without warning that almost let slip some emotion across his face. You’re just like me. “What’re you talking about, your making no sense.” You said, noting how Saiki didn’t speak with his mouth but more so through a telepathic link, connecting the two of you. Saiki sighed, closing his eyes briefly before opening them again. Just watch. After he said that, Saiki himself vanished before your very eyes, causing your eyes to grow wide and a gasp of surprise to leave your lips as you tried to figure out where he could’ve went; praying that no one saw either of you displaying your powers.

Come to the school gate. Saiki commanded shortly but sensed that you were about to question why he adds, look, I’m not stupid enough to put us at risk of being spotted. I’m not Nendo, you chuckled at the comparison, besides I think it’s high time we have a talk about what else your capable of doing. So just get down here, I don’t care how you do it, teleportation or not, just get down here before I start rethinking my choices. “Alright, alright. I’m coming, no need to get all mardy at me. ‘I’m just sceptical is all.” You muttered. I heard that. “Yeah your supposed to genius.” You retorted as you teleported to the school gates where Saiki was waiting for you with a plastic bag of…coffee jellies? Your face must’ve said it all for Saiki as he huffed, subconsciously holding the bag closer to his being. What? I got hungry and decided to treat myself.

“You’re unbelievable, could’ve bought me something.” You scoffed lighthearted. Please, I don’t even know what you like because you’ve been blocking me from your thoughts, so why don’t you go buy it yourself rather then relying on me. Saiki rebutted as he entertained himself to one of his coffee jellies as you then took up his advice and teleported to the nearest convenient store to buy yourself a couple of snacks before teleporting back to the school gates; Saiki was already on his second coffee jelly. You parked yourself next to him and began to eat in silence.

“May I have a coffee jelly?”

Obligatory Kuboyasu analysis consisting of me spewing his praises for his birthday

It always continues to astound me how well adjusted Kuboyasu is, considering everything. Yeah his anger is bad, but beyond his moments of getting triggered (whether from moments that remind him of his past, i.e PTSD, or things that genuinely upset him) he’s the most rational out of all them, sometimes even beating out Saiki. More than that, Kuboyasu is evidently more willing to act like a kid than Saiki. The thing is, Saiki is a kid at heart; he just represses those desires. Kuboyasu doesn’t. I’d argue it makes him more mature than Saiki.

More than that, he’s a really good friend. He’s one of the few people who approach Saiki with minimal false assumptions beyond the ones Saiki pushes and the ones Kuboyasu has toward civilians. And those disappear rather quickly. He’s cunning and confident, and knows how to be a competent leader. There’s a lot of traits about him that make him just a genuinely good guy for the others to have in their lives, and definitely has fewer attachment issues than Saiki, making him easier for people to latch onto.

This is one of the reasons Kaido and Kuboyasu stick together like glue. I think both Kuboyasu and Saiki adore Kaido in similar ways, and also seek to protect him. Kuboyasu is just willing to actual let himself be on the same level as ‘his people’ because he doesn’t have a cocktail of god complexes and self-hatred like some people. Kaido would be as close to Saiki if Saiki let him, but Saiki has to heal some wounds before he feels comfortable doing so.

And I don’t CARE that they called it cliche, Kuboyasu wanting to be a teacher is such a fantastic sign of both his desire to do good in the world and his aims to better himself. This is one of the few people Saiki has almost no influence on their character development. Kuboyasu did that.

TLDR, Kuboyasu is amazingly well-adjusted and likely actively seeking to better himself, and despite not showing up as much as the other characters, still manages to prove himself to be a genuinely good friend and person. Happy birthday to one of my favorite characters!

Nendo's oblivious, and Kaido is very kind but hes not ready for romance. Toritsuka is.... Toritsuka. Saiko tries to buy people. Aren is too much of a try-hard. I can't really imagine how Touma or Satou would be relationships. Hairo is the most respectful and compassionate man in Saiki K. He listens to people and speaks whats on his mind (even if its a little blunt). He can be much but thats ok

Side characters think Saiki is bland, Nendo is so ugly that nobody will give him a chance (:() , Kaido has his whole chuuni side to him which is annoying for most (:(), Hairo is Hairo, Toritsuka is Toritsuka, Saiko would probably be third place because of his money status but he is still insufferable to a lot of people, side characters know that Satou is bland (though that could be a good thing who knows, he is my 2nd place) and Akechi would just talk and talk and talk which most people would find annoying. Kuboyasu is pretty good at masking his delinquent side nowadays and has become just an average guy who isn't bland. Some people also prefer bad boys, so there's that I guess.

He could drive me around with his motorbike and could wrestle with me, that's really all i need in life. If powerless Saiki could still ride a motorbike he'd be my second choice, because we actually have a lot in common. Or maybe that's not a good thing…

Iguchi Takumi is prejudged as a pervert every day by society and still he doesn't let it get in the way of providing the best guidance he can to his students. He is fair, not a pushover, not over strict, gives second chances and forgives children easily for the mistakes children usually make. He's patient, respectful, has never been condescending to the students, goes up and above in his dedication to his work. These are all qualities of a high quality man. He works in his true passion, and I bet he'd do his very best to maintain a healthy work/life balance if he finds someone to share his life with. His students would probably go first, but a man with such ironclad priorities is also respectable and admirable.
