🪽 now playing, i don't know (seventeen) & smile flower (seventeen)
🪽 word count, 963 | for @kstrucknet
the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses resounded throughout your new house, and you studied your husband (wow, that felt unreal to even think) and his friends as they laughed at old stories they were sharing with each other.
you had spent all day today preparing the new house for the housewarming party you and joshua were throwing to celebrate the next big step after marriage─finding a home to start a family in. joshua had been so excited for this moment.
even though you were nervous about the future of your and joshua's new marriage, you couldn't help but be happy too. joshua had such a big dream for you and him to fulfill, and you were excited to see the future for both of you─it was nerve-wracking, but beautiful at the same time.
"i think we need more wine." jeonghan says to joshua as he follows him into the kitchen, where you're currently cutting more strawberries to add to the charcuterie board.
joshua chuckles dryly, his rich voice like honey as he shakes his head. "more wine is asking for more trouble, i think."
jeonghan gives a lazy smile, the one he always does when teasing or messing around with someone, and he slides his way over to you, knowing you wouldn't deny him. "i think we need more wine."
"do we? i can get some more if you want. just hold on." you say with a smile on your face, knowing good and well joshua's eyes are on your back. jeonghan gives you a quick hug, giggling in triumph as he returns to the bustling living room.
with jeonghan's teasing out of the kitchen, it's a lot calmer than the chaos happening over charades in the living room. the hum of the refrigerator blends in with the jazz music playing over the speakers. you focus on finishing up the strawberries, relaxing instantly as you feel strong arms slinking around your waist.
"i'm assuming you heard me tell jeonghan no more wine, sweetie." joshua smiles against your skin, already pressing a warm kiss to your neck. you nod, sighing as you finish cutting the fruit.
"i did, but he's like my honorary brother-in-law. am i supposed to say no?" you laugh, and joshua matches your energy, laughing too as he shakes his head. "no, no, you're fine."
the two of you sigh, falling silent as he presses against you. joshua is warm, and smells of vanilla, something you think you could never get tired of. his presence instantly brings calmness to your tense body, and you arrange the fruits on the board, focusing in on them before joshua softly grabs your arm.
"darling, is something wrong?" joshua turns you around to face him, doe-like eyes staring worriedly at you as he studies your face. you had been tense all night and hadn't looked like you had been having fun.
"i'm fine, joshua," the smile you give him with your response is forced, and you and he both know it. obviously, joshua doesn't fall for it, cupping your cheek in his hand as he brushes your hair from your face.
"darling, please. i know this isn't like you. you've been excited for this event all week, and now that it's here, you.." joshua pauses, searching for the right words. "you look like you don't want it."
it breaks your heart to see joshua say something like that: you do want this housewarming party. you want this marriage. you didn't want to seem unappreciative or uninterested. if that's how you truly looked, you couldn't help it. there was just so much worry and uncertainty clouding your mind you didn't know what to feel.
"joshua, no. i─i do want this. i want all of it." you say softly, a cheer mixing into your quiet voice.
"i'm just overwhelmed, shua. worried about what's to come. marriage is a wonderful thing, and it's even more wonderful since it's with you, but...i'm scared. i don't even know what i'm scared of." you heave a sigh, and joshua shakes his head, holding your hands in his.
"it's okay to be scared, darling. i'm here for everything─you can be scared. it's okay to feel nervous about what's to come." joshua smiles, eyes soft as he studies you.
"just know we're in it together. when i asked you to be my other half, i meant it. one isn't complete without the other─whatever stress, nervousness, or worry you feel doesn't have to be one-sided. we can share it, just like we share our dreams and weaknesses with each other."
joshua's closer to you now, his warm hand cupping your cheek as he catches the tears welling at the corner of your sparkling eyes. "i'm here. i always will be─i made that promise."
nodding, you smile up at him, wiping the tears from your face as joshua takes your hands in his one more time, kissing each knuckle as he looks down at you. his vanilla perfume is permeating your space, and it's instantly calming, bringing a sense of peace to you faster than anything would.
"thank you, josh. i needed that, more than you know." you sigh, raising up on your tippy toes to press a kiss to joshua's lips. they're soft, hints of wine leftover on them as he chuckles. "of course, sweetie."
"oh, and─tell jeonghan he can just take a bottle home for later. i don't think he needs it right now." you laugh, hearing jeonghan's slurred speech from the living room.
"you and me both, sweetie." joshua glances over his shoulder, giving you a wink and mouthing "i love you" before he disappears back into the living room.
sighing as you breathe in the fresh smell of strawberries and lingering vanilla perfume, you know everything's going to be okay.

⤷ 𝓢𝗒𝗇𝗈𝗉𝗌𝗂𝗌 ﹕ whilst valentine’s day is coming up, your homework piles up leaving you little to no time to take a break. but soobin wasn’t going to let that happen!
valentine’s day was coming up, everybody was going out with their loved ones, having fun. while you were here, stuck with the pile of homework that had accumulated over the course of a few weeks. you were slumped at your desk, lazily scribbling words that you could barely make sense of.
a small tap disrupted the silence. the silence that was previously only interrupted by the sounds of your pencil scribbling on the piece of paper. you turn to look at the door before the knob turns as soobin walks into your room. “how's the homework coming along?” he questions. you sighed, leaning back on your chair. “i can’t seem to focus..” you murmur.
his eyebrows knitted at your statement. “you wanna take a break? we can lay around. watch your favorite kdrama—“ he suggests before getting cut off. “take a break..? i don’t think that’ll work soob.” you say with a tinge of frustration in your voice. what did he mean “take a break”? it was quite literally impossible to take a break. you had homework to finish, and quickly.
he frowns at your response. “come on, i’ll help you with your homework after. how does that sound?” he asks as he approaches you. you sigh, finally caving in. “fine. but i’ll have to be done with at least half of it by tonight!” you urge. he replied with a nod accompanied with a chuckle. “okay okay, gotchu.” he says softly.
ᯓᡣ𐭩.ᐟ⊹
the living room was filled with laughter and tears, your comfort kdrama never failed to make you laugh and cry all in one sitting. you can’t help but lean into soobins arms, it was almost subconscious that your body leaned into his touch. as if it was the only thing you’ve ever known to do.
undoubtedly, his presence always comforted you. the way he would always try to solve your problems with you, help you out as much as he could even when you’d get frustrated at him.. he’d never raise his voice at you.
he would always patiently and calmly calm you down talking it all out, which eventually ends up with you cuddled up in his arms either crying or asleep.
oddly enough, he felt like home. he was the one you’d run to after a long day at school, he was the one you’d rant to and he would be the one to calm you down too.
he really is if home was a person.

SUPERNATURAL.

❪443❫ Jay believes in ghosts. You don’t—until you kiss him just to shut him up… or was it something else?
PAIRING? park jongseong x female reader
GENRES? fluff, best friends with a side of mutual pining
⚠︎ // profanity, mention of ghosts and being haunted, reader is a skeptic and doesn’t believe in ghosts

“That purse really brings out the color of your eyes.”
Jay stops mid-step, turning to glare at you over the rim of his glasses. “It’s not a purse. It’s a satchel.”
You hum, nodding thoughtfully in your usual sarcastic manner as you follow him into the supernatural section of the library. “Right. Just like how a ghost isn’t a ghost—it’s a displaced soul caught between realms or whatever nonsense you’re about to try and convince me of.”
Jay huffs, adjusting the strap of his definitely-a-purse satchel and ignoring you in favor of scanning the bookshelves.
He pulls out a thick, dusty tome with Specters & Spirits: A Comprehensive Guide to the Afterlife written in an ominous font on the cover.
“I’m telling you, my apartment is haunted,” he says, flipping through the pages. “I keep hearing weird noises at night. Lights flicker. My phone charger disappears and then reappears in weird places.”
“Just sounds like you’re messy,” you say, plopping down on the carpeted floor.
Jay joins you, cross-legged, with a determined look on his face. “Okay, but listen to this.” He clears his throat dramatically before reading aloud. “Spirits are often drawn to places of intense energy—grief, love, despair—”
“Holy shit, they’re just like me,” you cut in.
“Can you take this seriously for like, five seconds?” he says, exasperated.
You gesture for him to continue, suppressing a smirk.
Jay launches into an in-depth, slightly unhinged explanation about electromagnetic frequencies, ghostly apparitions, and something about residual hauntings while you tune him out, watching the way he gets all passionate about something so ridiculous.
His brows furrow, his lips move a mile a minute, and his hands gesture wildly as if that’ll somehow make him more convincing.
You don’t even realize you’re leaning in until you do it—cutting him off mid-ramble with a kiss.
Jay freezes. The book slips from his fingers, landing with a thud between you.
You pull back, smirking at his wide-eyed, slack-jawed expression. “What?” he finally croaks out.
You shrug. “The ghost must’ve possessed me. There’s some real poltergeist shit going on here.”
Jay blinks. Once. Twice. Then groans, dragging a hand down his face. “You’re such a jerk.”
“Well, this jerk just made you blush like an anime schoolgirl being kissed by her senpai,” you tease, nudging his knee with yours.
He doesn’t deny it. Instead, he shuts the book and shoves it into his satchel (purse). “I’m never bringing you ghost researching with me again.”
You grin. “Oh, come on. Who else is gonna protect you with logic and facts?”
Jay sighs dramatically, but you don’t miss the small, stupid smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

navi/masterlist!! 🤍 nct dream masterlist
based on this request! thank you for sending it in anon and i'm sorry it took a while for me to write 😭 i hope you (and everyone else!) enjoys this one!!
The romantic season has finally started, and that also means that sweet treat of early leave that you applied for at the start of the year. You're keen on using the leave to spend more quality time with your loved ones, especially your boyfriend Park Jisung.
From the introduction from mutual friends, you've known Jisung for a long time. Long enough for him to know your favourite drink and your comfort food. Long enough for him to send you cute hamster videos, and comfortable enough for you to reply with a "That's you!" to which Jisung reacts to the message with a blushing emoji; his face perfectly depicted that emoji too.
The exchanges became pretty limited when you got into a relationship. Yes, Jisung is glad you were able to fall in love, but the dried tears on your face whenever he catches a glimpse of you make him feel otherwise. The one-year toxic relationship would continue for a few more months. Some of your friends were understandably frustrated with how you wouldn’t leave, and despite explaining that words aren't easily acted out, the stress only made your room swallow your sobs even more. In the end, when things were better, you confronted all and cut off some.
The reality is that, we could always be prepared for something, and give others advice but when it happens to us, the world stops. Rational thinking may follow after. At that time, you need to surround yourself with healthy and supportive people. That’s who how Park Jisung is to you.
Jisung really did take care of you, every step of the way. Whether it was sending groceries to our house, sending daily affirmations, and despite his lack of experience and nervousness, helping you draft an email to your boss for a short break to take care of yourself. He's open to telling you that he's not sure what to do, but through simple communication, Jisung was the key for you to escape your toxic ex-boyfriend, and the dreadful aftermath of the relationship. That relationship was ages ago, and now you're happily in a relationship with Jisung for a month.
"Ah," Jisung pouts at the reminder. "You're bringing that up again?"
"I can't help it!" You chuckle at your date who takes another spoonful of his soup, adjusting his scarf after to hide his blushing cheeks. "You said I was hot like soup and then confessed right after!"
If the table could come alive and swallow Jisung up, he would appreciate that very much. "But I really did mean it! You've always been hot but that day you were just, you know...amazing and beautiful...I couldn’t help but say my thoughts…"
Every time you bought this up, Jisung would always become flustered. Just like every other time, his cheeks and the tip of his ears flare, his eyes smile but look away from yours, and sometimes his speech stutters due to his racing heart. But this time, maybe it's the heart-shaped decoration by the entrance of the sore, the roses in the middle of the table, or the way that Jisung called this a date. The environment is bustling but not in the sharp clanging of cutlery on porcelain, but the laughter that wraps the both of you in a loving embrace.
Last month, as Jisung delivered his feelings for you smoothly like the ice cream in your hands, your gaze on him softened. You doubt it was the ice cream that spread warmth through your chest and your cheeks. You’ve realised your growing feelings for him throughout the past year, but never dared to speak up; not after your relationship even though you know Jisung is nothing like your ex. Your love for Jisung grows after each date, after each brush against his skin and the kisses he places all over your features. Everything that Jisung did in your presence, reminds you that your feelings for him are reciprocated.
"I thought we agreed that I would pay next," sulking at the fact that you lost the credit card battle once more.
"There will always be a next time," pressing a quick peck on your lips.
Jisung's words have always seemed so confident, but just like the soup from dinner earlier, you're sure that the redness across his cheeks isn't from the cool weather. Even with thick winter gloves, you can feel Jisung's hold like you both were skin-to-skin as you walk along the illuminated footpath from open stores. You talk about everything that came up in your mind, taking turns to nod when Jisung does with yours. Your words are always safe with him, the same way his words are safe with you. Your stories continue to be shared, but it wasn't overbearing; not like how you were treated in your past relationship.
Similarly, Jisung loves to tell you about his day, and coo about the two birds leaning against each other not too far away. Jisung loves to go into detail on the things you talked about on text, all the while observing the windows of the shops for things you liked. You fall in love with his voice which pulls you back into the present whenever your mind drifts somewhere else. Whenever those times hit, Jisung has picked up on some things: the glimmers in your eyes fade, your fingers grow weaker or stronger around his, and your hums would be monotonic and randomise between the middle of his sentences instead of the end.
You're habituated to the shoes shuffling on the gravel, so when you stop, you immediately turn your head to Jisung who's a step behind you. Your eyes widen and your lips tremble at the realisation that you missed parts of his stories.
Your heart drops at your actions. I'm sor-"
"Are you alright?" He interjected. Your hands untangle from his as Jisung fixes your scarf. "Don't want you getting cold," lifting the material to cover your lips and chin better. His eyes resemble a smile when he's satisfied with the adjustment and he rests his palms on your shoulders.
"Sorry, I'm just thinking again," eyes downcasted to your shoes that pointed to his.
"No, it's okay," your boyfriend reassures. "I love listening to your voice. I can never get enough of it."
"Really? I just don't want you to feel like you have to listen to all these things because you really don’t have to-"
"But I love it," he cuts you off once more. Jisung slips a glove off, his palm cupping your chilly cheek. Your head tilts, meeting the reflecting Christmas lights behind you, and how clear your reflection from his orbs. "I love hearing all this because that means you trust me and are comfortable with me telling me all these things."
"Of course, I am, Ji," placing emphasis on the affirmative words. "I just hate how you've always treated me right from the start but I keep on doing this thing where my mind goes to the past and I just bring us down and-"
"You're not bringing us down. You're not bringing anybody down," Jisung shakes his head hurriedly. "I promise. We'll take this step by step remember?"
You focus on the soothing glides that his thumb did on your cheekbones, closing your eyes to savour the gentleness. Jisung steps closer to you, wrapping your body with his arms. His deep tone soothes your mind, and you place an ear to where his steady heart is. All the negative thoughts subside slowly, but surely.
"What you went through was scary, bubs," he whispers, "and I don't expect you to just get over it. You're allowed to be scared."
"But it's not fair on you, Sung..."
"What's not fair is you thinking that it's not fair.” A tear or two escapes your eyes, and your lips shudder at the sincerity of his voice. Your hand lifts, only to clasp onto the hem of his jacket. Jisung guides your breathing, messaging his fingers onto your scalp reassuringly. “You’re not being fair to anyone if you act like nothing happened. I want you to always be open with me, okay? I want to support you. Always.”
“Okay,” your answer comes out hushed, and you’re worried that Jisung didn’t hear it.
You lift your head from his chest, intending to repeat your answer to make sure it gets across. But all words halted when Jisung’s lips fell upon your forehead dearly. The pink deepens into red across his cheekbones, and Jisung hides his eyes behind his overgrown bangs as he stares down at his shuffling feet. For yourself, the heat rises to your cheeks, and you’re sure that Jisung could feel them even through his gloves. And just if that wasn’t enough to make you melt in this winter, Jisung confesses his feelings for you once more as wills himself determinedly to look into your eyes.
“I love you. So, please be fair to yourself.”
There was no way that you could say anything to that, not with how he hits you the words filled with honesty. You see the way his eyes slowly morph into uncertainty at your silence, worried that he made you uncomfortable.
“I’m sorry-” His words are cut off with a kiss on his cheek.
“Don’t be,” you beam at him with the cutest smile, brighter than the sunset behind you. “I love you too, Sungie.”
Delighted with the positive response, Jisung lowers his back to be at eye level with the person that he loves. His thumb traces along the bottom of your lip, index following the shape of your jawline as he gulps at where he puts his finger. You’re met with Jisung’s eyes, and no words are needed when you understand what he is asking for. Your sure nod left Jisung almost sweeping you off the ground, joining his lips with yours sweetly under the warmth of the sunset.

( 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐈'𝐌 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐘𝐎𝐔 ) 黄。𝐑𝐉 ─────엔시티
( syn ). ──renjun just wanted to show you how much he loved you through words

BF𝐑𝐉 .ᐟ fem!rea. ⟡ 570HUNdrabble, fluff warn.no ARCHIVE
I’ve never met someone with more of a beautiful soul.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you reread the pink note stuck to your fingers. You’d taken it off the bathroom mirror after it had caught your eye.
You’d just woken up, still slightly mentally-blurry from your previous sleep, so it was a little hard to grasp the details.
It was a tough night, going to bed at around 4am and then waking up periodically. However, your boyfriend had let you sleep in, trying his best to be quiet while getting ready. It was almost noon now.
Wait, where was your boyfriend?
Did he have practice? Did he have a shoot you weren’t aware of? Was he just doing some last-minute grocery shopping though you’d gone not even two days ago? And, he always saved mundane tasks for the two of you to do together.
Sure, you needed the sleep—but, not that bad.
You make me feel seen and heard.
“Huh?” You let out a confused sound at another note, following your bedroom door. “What the hell is this?”
And when you turned it around, more Sharpie cursively flowed in letters: I admire your strength and resilience, you keep me grounded.
Now, your bottom lip had started to pout-out, your eyes welling ever so slightly. Maybe you were emotional from just having been asleep, and then waking up alone. However, maybe you were emotional from the fact that nobody has ever said these things to you—granted they were written down, but still.
I didn’t believe in soulmates until I met you.
You inspire me to do better.
Thank you for always being there for me and taking care of me in my times of need. I’d like to return the favor someday.
It’s impossible to not be drawn to you.
One cheesy line after another was added to the stack of pink notes left on your path, lining the hallway to the open concept kitchen-living room your shared apartment had.
You make me feel important. I hope you know you are too.
Your generosity never goes unnoticed. Thank you for being so giving.
Your smile lights up any room, I’m glad I get to see it everyday—truly contagious.
I love you like the moon loves the sun.
You are my yellow. The rainbow has never looked so bright.
And there he was, mindlessly scrolling with his head down, back pressed to the countertop. He hadn’t even noticed you walk in, standing in awe of what he’d done.
Thank you for choosing me.
“W-what is this?” You held the sticky notes up with your hand, his head leveling with your view. He smiled instantly, “Why’d you do all this Renjun?”
He approached you, squeezing your stunned frame against his chest.
“Good morning, sleepyhead.” He laughed, casually explaining, “I thought you were going to sleep all day—I got bored waiting.”
He then pressed a light kiss to your temple, taking the pink paper from off you and sifting through them. Your eyes had been silently dropping salty-water, the devotion to you sending you into autopilot.
You’d never had someone so in love with you, who could’ve imagined?
“Seriously though, it’s things I’ve never said but need to.” Your eyes met his, though you could make up distinct features only through the tears, “Everyday you’re with me, you make it worth living. Thank you for choosing me—when I'm with you I never feel second place.”

❅ WINTER'S JEALOUSY ( 김정수 )

genre friends to lovers , mutual pining , fluff , hyunsuk (cix) cameo , jungsu x fem!reader cw jungsu gets jealous , not proofread wc 1088 request yes from an ancient prompt list that's already inactive note @loserlvrss could be a late birthday present hehe also happy debut anniversary to xdh !! (literally just realized its their 3 yrs today lmao) net @kstrucknet
Jungsu had always thought jealousy was a stupid thing. Easily jealous people were insecure and only caused problems. He prided himself with how secure he was, not easily swayed by feelings of envy. And, as such, Jungsu had never suspected to get jealous, much less over his best friend.
He didn’t know how to combat the feelings he soon felt rising when he saw you across the room, at this stupid Christmas party his friend had hosted. You looked nothing short of stunning in your red satin dress, commanding the attention of the whole room it seemed. Jungsu simply couldn’t look away from you. But while he was busy falling into the hypnosis that you cast on him, he was hyper aware of how close you were to Hyunsuk, how you kept laughing at whatever joke he was telling.
Yoon Hyunsuk was loveable and fun to be around. Kind, smart, attractive. And a full head above Jungsu in height. He’d only been your friend for a few months. Jungsu had known you for half of his life. Surely, he wasn’t threatened by Hyunsuk’s presence, was he?
Jungsu felt dumb thinking about it like that. Hyunsuk couldn’t steal you from him— you weren’t even his to begin with. But he couldn’t help but feel his chest burn seeing you make eye contact with the taller man, a pretty smile gracing your lips and your eyes scrunching to complete it. He wished he had the confidence to storm up to where you and Hyunsuk stood and make up some excuse to steal you away from him, if even for a few moments. But he was afraid of acknowledging the obvious jealousy he felt, finding it tarnished his ego.
Seungmin, ever the observant man he was, found his friend sitting in the corner of the room, sipping on spiked apple cider with a stare that could burn a hole through anyone. With a gaze so fixed on your figure, it was easy to connect the dots. He took a seat next to his friend, offering his mug of cider to toast.
“You look like you want to banish Hyunsuk from the planet,” Seungmin muttered with a smile. He was aware of Jungsu’s crush on you. It was hard to not see the way he looked at you. What Seungmin could see that Jungsu didn’t, however, was how mutual the feelings seemed to be.
“I don’t,” Jungsu lied. It was a pathetic attempt to hide his churning stomach and aching heart.
“Y/n looks pretty tonight. I wonder who she dressed up for?” Seungmin nudged Jungsu’s arm.
“Isn’t it obvious? They’ve been attached at the hip for the last 20 minutes,” Jungsu took another sip of cider, letting the warm spices and tartness burn down his throat. He tried to make his words seem unaffected by the fact he was pointing out, but, to Seungmin, who already knew of his frankly crippling crush on you, it was obvious how bothered he was by the sight.
“Someone’s jealous.”
“I’m not jealous.”
As he uttered the defense, his eyes flitted towards your figure, once again caught breathless by how good you looked. There was an obvious absence of Hyunsuk by your side for the first time since Jungsu had sat down. He assumed he must have walked off. Your eyes were glancing around the room, and once they landed on Jungsu, they brightened. You started walking over to him, champagne in hand. Seungmin patted his friend on the shoulder and stood up, leaving him alone to talk to you.
“Hey. So this is where you’ve been hiding all night? I swear, I couldn’t find you anywhere. I almost thought I dressed up for nothing.”
You smiled, taking the seat Seungmin had been sitting in. Jungsu felt the churning in his stomach come to a halt, replaced by shy butterflies.
“Wanna trade? I’ve already had too much champagne for one night,” you asked, not giving Jungsu any time to answer before swapping your glasses, humming in content at the taste of the warm cider. Jungsu smiled, taking a sip of the half empty glass of champagne that had found its way into his hand.
“You look nice tonight,” Jungsu said softly, giving you a gentle glance. Your smile widened at his comment.
“Really?”
“You look gorgeous,” he reiterated, eyes shining as he looked at you.
“You don’t look so bad yourself. Did you do your hair?”
He nodded shyly. He hadn’t expected you to notice— nobody else had. Jungsu soon found himself entirely lost in your presence and words. Eyes trained onto your face, smile following your sentences. You made everything feel so easy, vanishing all of his previous doubts and worries. All he could focus on was you.
The conversation shifted eventually, and the topic of your previous conversation with Hyunsuk came up. Something about rabbits, but Jungsu couldn’t entirely focus on processing your words. He was too hung up on how you seemed to talk about Hyunsuk, retelling the story with such enthusiasm. When there was a pause in the conversation, Jungsu found the words falling past his lips before he even realized what he was saying.
“You seem to like him a lot.”
Your eyebrows furrowed a bit at his observation. You glanced at Jungsu, but his face was unreadable.
“You two look good together,” he continued, not even sure why he was bringing it up. The jealousy was glaringly obvious. He couldn’t hide it, especially not from you. You could always read him so easily.
“What do you mean? You don’t actually think I’m interested in him, right?”
Jungsu blinked, taken aback by your words. It had seemed so obvious thirty minutes ago that you were. But now he felt like he had misread you.
“I… I don’t know. You looked—”
You grasped his hand, his eyes finding yours and his mouth falling silent immediately.
“Jungsu. Are you really that oblivious? It’s you. It’s always going to be you. You’re the only one who I think of in that way.”
Jungsu held your hand a bit tighter, as if needing more reassurance that you meant what you said. His eyes now glued to the floor, whether in shame or in thought, you weren’t sure. You lifted his chin gently, turning his face back towards you. Planting a small kiss on his cheek, you smiled.
“I like you. Don’t ever doubt it.”
Jungsu felt his lips lift into a smile that mirrored yours, heart jumping with elation and jealousy put to rest.

Strawberry Sunscreen
pairing: lee seokmin x fem!reader
genre: fluff, romance
description: Seokmin is intent on making this year's valentines day a day to remember and maybe one way to do that is by writing you a song
w/c: 2.6k
a/n: would definitely recommend listening to the song Strawberry Sunscreen by lostboycrow. This is written for the valentines day event by kstrucknet. I know it's late, but I hope you guys enjoy it anyways!! unedited
When Seokmin asked you to be his valentine on the 28th of January — way too early in your opinion— you knew he’d done it because he couldn’t hold himself back. The excitement of what he’d prepared for you had been bubbling up for days, maybe even weeks. There was no way he'd wait until valentines week to ask you.
Thinking back to that day makes you giggle as you wait for Seokmin to emerge from your shared bedroom. Still in your dress from dinner, you feel a bit tipsy as you stare at the checkered tablecloth that lays folded on the sofa. We really need to put the clothes in their places, you think to yourself. Usually you’d sigh with such a thought, but today is Valentine’s day, which means that you’ve had good food and you’ve had enough wine to fill you with a fuzzy warmth (not that Seokmin lacks anything in that department) but not enough to send you crying to your pillow like most of the times you drink.
From the shuffling and the muffled bang you hear from your bedroom, you confirm that Seokmin is a little tipsy too. “Seok, are you fine?” You call out, mirth in your voice as you kick off your heels and tuck your feet under yourself. You didn’t notice the cold since you had Seokmin’s blazer on, but now goosebumps rise on your arms and you rub them up and down to warm yourself up.
Seokmin finally walks out with his guitar in one hand and your pullover (read: your father’s from 10 years ago) that you love to pieces. You gasp, thanking him before pulling it over your head. Seokmin pats down your hair before settling on the couch next to you and begins pretending to tune his guitar.
You eye him curiously, “Are you planning to serenade me?”
“Obviously,” Seokmin grins, but his lips quiver slightly and it makes you melt.
“Are you nervous, Seok?” You coo, “Come on! You’ve sung to me so many times before. And besides, if you’re trying to serenade me, shouldn’t you go and do it outside so that I can come stand at the window?”
He stares at you, a little mortified but fully looking like he was thinking about doing it.
You scoff, hitting him on the arm, “No, you silly. Your voice is amazing but I doubt you’d want to sing on the streets at 11 p.m,” You raise an eye, “Would you?”
“No.” Seokmin admits with a dramatic frown before smiling, “Anyways. I wrote you a song.”
Your jaw drops, heart instantly jumping against your ribcage, “Shut up, you didn’t.”
“Did so,” Seokmin smiles before strumming the strings of his guitar, “I really hope you like it.”
What's your type?
She'll paint a cabinet from the 60s
And find diamonds when she's thrifting
Seokmin could never, ever forget about his first date with you. Well, that’s what you like it to call it but he’s never going to let that be the first date when he hadn’t even asked you out.
The two of you met at a matchmaking / painting workshop thing that your friends had dragged you to. Seokmin knew what he’d been getting into because Soonyoung had practically begged him for weeks to accompany him to it. You, on the other hand, had thought it was just a workshop for upcycling old and antique furniture.
Seokmin still remembers the pure confusion on your face as you found out the two of you were paired up, turning to your friend and whispering in hushed voices, brows furrowed as you got to know the truth. For a moment, Seokmin had thought you didn’t like the fact that the two of you were together. At first glance, he’d though you were the prettiest person he’d ever seen, in your hand painted dungaree, hair tied up into a ponytail that swayed gently as you skipped around in excitement behind your friend.
But when you walked up to the station he was at, a small smile on your face, Seokmin could swear he’d felt his heart do a little gymnastic warm-up.
You’d introduced yourself to him before asking if the two of you could start picking out what you wanted to paint. Midway through the search, your eyes raking over each and every corner of the store and Seokmin’s completely entranced by you, you’d suggested an idea.
“Hey, why don’t we both pick one piece and then paint it for the other to take home?”
Seokmin’s mouth had opened slightly at this, a little surprised, “Are you serious?”
“Yeah, why not? You only live once, it’ll be fun, come on!”
You had grabbed his hand then, asking if he could pick up a mini cabinet that you’d seen, saying you hoped he had space for it at home. Seokmin now wonders what you would’ve said then if he’d told you that— in that moment, and forever onwards— he’d have space for anything that was you.
He’d picked a vase for you, the same one that now sat on top of your coffee table, the flowers that he gave in the morning neatly arranged inside it. He’d painted it a soft blue before you let it randomly slip that your favourite colour was actually yellow. He’d find out later that it was because you loved everything to do with it. The sun, the honey, the flowers. So he had turned away from you, hiding the vase as he painted a million little suns on it.
The cabinet you picked sat in your shared room, the paint and varnish beginning to chip off. But it was still one of the last things he saw before going to bed and one of the first after getting up and Seokmin wouldn’t have it any other way.
Meet me under the movie screen
I'll kiss your face in the dark
Don't really care if it's too soon to say
But I like the way you pull me apart
The first time Seokmin had kissed you was at a movie night hosted by one of your friends. The two of you had been hanging out a lot, not really putting a name to whatever was going on between you, but he thought that this was a defining step— getting invited as your plus one to an intimate gathering with your friends.
You’d gone to the old theater in the city, rented out for the night by Jihyo, that was playing a late-night double feature of classic films. The movie was a black-and-white romantic comedy, the kind of film where the couple always found their way to each other by the end.
One of the things Seokmin liked about you was the way you were never afraid to speak your thoughts. You were completely at ease, occasionally whispering sarcastic comments about the movie, your breath tickling his neck and making him forget how to breathe.
Halfway through the second movie, the screen had flickered, the audio warping for a second before cutting out completely. Confused murmurs rippled through the small crowd as the image froze, the actors’ faces stuck mid-laugh.
Jihyo had groaned somewhere behind you, “I hoped this wouldn’t happen. Sorry, guys! I’ll go find someone to fix it.”
You had turned to Seokmin, eyebrows raised. “Wanna go check it out? We might as well be nosy.”
Seokmin had been wary. He wasn’t usually the daring type. But if he’d learned anything about himself in the past few weeks, it was that he’d do anything you asked him to.
The two of you had slipped out of your seats, ducking through a side door that led behind the screen. The space had been cramped and dimly lit, the glow from the frozen movie scene casting eerie shadows on the walls.
“Honestly, this is kind of creepy,” You had muttered lowly, eyeing the tangled mess of wires and old projectors, “I dream about stuff like this and it usually ends with me dying or something.”
Seokmin had laughed, hands gripping your shoulders as he led you to the only lit projector, “I’ll protect you, don’t worry,” He’d dramatically grunted.
You had rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the smile that crept onto your face. “How heroic of you.”
He’d bent down to inspect the projector, pretending to analyze the mess of buttons and wires as if he actually understood any of it. In reality, he’d been hyper-aware of you kneeling beside him, so close your shoulders brushed.
Seokmin’s breath had caught in his throat. He’d glanced sideways, his eyes tracing the curve of your cheek, the slope of your nose, the way your lashes fluttered as you blinked. You were close—too close. He hadn’t meant to stare, but he couldn’t help it.
When you turned, Seokmin had frozen, hearing his heart pounding in his ears. He’d tried to say something casual, something funny, hoping you’d laugh his nervousness off, but his mind had gone blank.
Wait, no. Not blank. Just empty of any thoughts other than how inviting your lips looked right now.
He brought his gaze back up to your eyes as soon as he realized he was staring at your lips, but it had been quite obvious that you had noticed.
Your eyes had widened just slightly, but you hadn’t pulled away. If anything, you’d leaned in closer, your breath warm against his cheek.
Seokmin had swallowed hard, every nerve in his body on high alert. He could’ve sworn the world had gone completely silent, the hum of the projector and the confusion of your friends on the other side of the screen fading into nothingness.
He’d leaned in slow, hesitant, giving you ample time to pull away. But you stayed there, eyes shut and waiting for him.
The first touch was soft, delicate, like a question. And then you’d answered, pressing back just enough for Seokmin’s heart to lurch, his hand instinctively reaching out to steady himself, his fingers grazing your arm.
His mind had gone blank—really blank this time, every thought evaporating as he kissed you. You were warm, your lips soft and sweet. He could taste the coke float on your lips, dizzying and addictive. He’d tasted some from your glass too, but god, it seemed to be much better right now.
Seokmin’s hand had moved before he could think, fingers brushing your jaw before curling at the nape of your neck, holding you closer. You’d sighed softly against his lips, and the sound had sent a shiver down his spine.
When you finally pulled back, your eyes fluttering open, Seokmin had just stared at you, trying to catch his breath. He knew he must’ve looked like an idiot—wide-eyed and stunned—but he couldn’t help it. His heart was racing, pulse thrumming in his ears, and all he could think about was how he wanted to kiss you again.
You’d smiled, lips swollen, eyes sparkling in the dim light. “So… did you fix it?” you’d teased, nodding towards the projector.
Seokmin blinked, trying to remember why the two of you were even behind the screen in the first place. His mouth opened, closed, then opened again. “Uh… yeah,” he finally managed, the word coming out more like a croak. “Fixed it. Totally. We’re… we’re good.”
You’d laughed, gentle and sweet, leaning in to peck him on the cheek before standing up. “Good to know, hero.”
Taste the strawberry sunscreen
Laughing at songs from the 90s
The soft brown light over the kitchen island and the buzzing, harsh orange from the street lights outside were the only sources of light, casting shadows that danced along the walls. It was late, too late for music, but that hadn’t stopped you from blasting some old 90s playlist through the crackling speaker on the counter.
Seokmin leaned against the fridge, arms crossed as he watched you sway to the beat, your hair loose and messy, your bare feet padding softly against the cold tiles. You were singing along, off-key and dramatic, purposely exaggerating the words just to make him laugh.
“Are you just gonna stand there staring, or are you gonna come dance with me?”
You were grinning at him now, arms outstretched as you swayed dramatically to the music. Seokmin couldn’t help but laugh, shaking his head. “This isn’t dancing. You’re just flailing around.”
“All the more reason for you to come and teach me!” You’d gasped.
Much closer to you, Seokmin could smell the strawberry scent of his sunscreen that you would insist on putting on. Even though it was winter now, it would remind you that summer wasn’t so far away.
Seokmin had laughed at that, but now he understood. The scent was intoxicating, sweet and nostalgic, like a memory he didn’t know he had. He’d leaned in, his nose brushing your hair in a way that he knew tickled you. He’d earned a smack on the arm for it, but the tiny tinkling laughter of yours that followed was always, always worth it.
You’d squealed as he spun you around, your laughter echoing off the kitchen walls. The song had changed to something faster and Seokmin had followed your lead, matching your energy as he twirled you under his arm, laughing when you stumbled into his chest. You were breathless, cheeks flushed, eyes bright as you looked up at him.
“You’re ridiculous,” you panted, a giggle slipping out as you tried to catch your breath.
He grinned, his arms wrapping around your waist as he pulled you closer. “Takes one to know one.”
“Hey,” you murmured, your fingers playing with the hair at the nape of his neck. “I love you, you know that?”
He’d heard you say it before, so many times, but it still made his chest ache, still made him feel like the luckiest person in the world.
“Yeah,” he whispered, his voice low and a little shaky. “I know.”
You leaned back, your nose brushing his as your lips curved into a smile. “Good. Just making sure.”
Seokmin had laughed, his forehead resting against yours. “I love you too.”
You had kissed him then, soft and slow, your lips warm against his. His hands had tightened around your waist as he fell back slightly, making you smile into his lips. With your hand splayed against his chest, feeling the rapid thud of his heartbeat beneath your palm, he’d thought for the umpteenth time. There was no place he’d rather be.
See what it's like to be loved
When he looks back up at you, strumming the last chord of the song, he’s not surprised to see tears in your eyes.
He sets the guitar aside, a soft smile playing on his lips as he stands and closes the distance between you. His thumbs gently brush the tears from your cheeks, his touch warm and familiar.
“You’re such a sap,” you tease, your voice wobbling as you laugh, swiping at the last of your tears.
You let yourself melt into him, breathing him in, feeling the warmth of his embrace seep into your bones. It’s steady and familiar, grounding you in a way nothing else can.
“Thank you,” you murmur, voice muffled against his chest. “I loved it.”
“Happy Valentines day, honey,” Seokmin smiles into your hair, pressing a little kiss.
You laugh, the sound light and full of joy as you pull away from him for a moment, “Happy Valentines day, indeed.”
And as he pulls you in again, you think that maybe you’ve finally seen what it’s like to be loved.

୨୧ HEATHER ──── ( HAN TAESAN )

( taesan gives you his sweater > < ) fluff , down bad taesan 0.7K words note ... 🗯 something quick to get me out of my slump! if you got a sweater today you are my biggest enemy. bye ^^
@onedoornet , @k-films , @kstrucknet
it was one of those chilly december evenings where the air nipped at your skin despite the layers you had bundled up in. the streets were lined with festive lights, and the air buzzed with the promise of the holidays. you had joined your friends for a spontaneous hot chocolate run, and while everyone seemed perfectly comfortable, you couldn’t stop shivering. despite the lively chatter and occasional bursts of laughter from your friends, you couldn’t ignore the biting cold that seemed to find every gap in your clothing.
taesan, ever observant when it came to you, noticed right away. he had been sneaking glances at you all night, his heart doing little flips every time you laughed or brushed a strand of hair out of your face. you were trying to be subtle about it, but he saw the way you rubbed your arms and how your fingers trembled slightly around your cup. when your teeth started to chatter, he tugged off his oversized sweater without a word, the fabric catching slightly as he pulled it over his head. the gesture was so casual that, for a moment, you didn’t even notice he was holding it out for you.
“here,” he said. his tone was casual, but the look in his eyes betrayed a quiet urgency.
you blinked, taken aback. “taesan, i can’t—”
“yes, you can,” he cut in, his voice gentle but firm. “you’re freezing.”
you hesitated for a moment before taking it, the warmth of the fabric and his scent enveloping you as you pulled it over your head. it was far too big, the sleeves nearly covering your hands, but it was undeniably cozy.
“thanks,” you muttered, your cheeks tinged with more than just the cold.
his lips quirked into a shy smile as he looked away, pretending to be focused on his cup of hot chocolate.
taesan had always been nervous around you—too nervous to speak to you or sit beside you. his friends often pushed him to talk to you, but he never seemed to gather the courage. the biggest move he’d made so far was wrapping his arm around your shoulder for a picture during a group hangout. it had taken hours for him to finally do it, and even then, his touch was light, as if he was afraid of crossing some invisible line. you knew about his little crush; jaehyun had mentioned it a thousand times, always teasing him about how smitten he was with you. at first, it was funny, the way taesan tried to hide his feelings and shift his focus whenever you were around, but over time, it became endearing.
for the rest of the night, he stayed close to you, his usual quiet demeanor making it seem like he was just keeping pace. but you noticed how he slowed his steps whenever you lingered behind or how he shifted his body to shield you from the chilling wind without making a big deal out of it.
your hands brushed as you walked side-by-side. you turned your head to look at him. his cheeks were pink, and his hair was tousled from having taken off his sweater in a rush. when he caught you staring, red crept up his neck as his lips curved into a bashful smile.
“what?” he asked, a stupid, wide grin dancing on his lips. you shook your head and turned your attention back to woonhak, who was laughing out loud at the sight of a little kid slipping on the snow and falling on his butt.
by the time your friends decided to call it a night, you were still in taesan’s sweater. as you said your goodbyes, you hesitated, starting to lift it over your head to give it back.
“keep it,” taesan said quickly, his hand brushing yours to stop you. “it looks better on you, anyway,” he wanted to say but decided against it. in return, you just smiled at taesan and murmured a small thank you before leaving to get home.
as the group dispersed, you caught him looking at you one last time, his smile lingering in the glow of the streetlights. taesan didn’t care that his friends had noticed or that they might tease him later—tonight, you were wearing his sweater, and that was all that mattered.

now playing 🎵 shy love — ivoris
⭑。𖦹°‧
forming a relationship with leehan has got to be one of the cutest things ever. both of you were new to this whole entire.. dating thing. though the both of you wouldn’t have it any other way.
seeing that valentine’s day was just around the corner, leehan can’t help but feel confused. he has never done anything of the sort. he has never spent time with someone on valentine’s day.. let alone with his girlfriend!
it all felt so foreign to him, but for you? he’d try it all!
⭑。𖦹°‧
first step, flowers! every good boyfriend always gets his girlfriend flowers on valentine’s day.. right? he thought to himself. he nervously walks into a flower shop, the gentle and floral scent greeting him upon his entry. he inhales the sweet scent before looking around. confused on what to get, an employee approaches him.
“you look confused, is there anything specific that you’re looking for?” she asks. he turns to look at her, “ah! actually.. i don’t know.. it’s almost valentine’s day and i wanna get my g—girlfriend some flowers..” his voice softens at the last few parts, not used to being able to call one his girlfriend.
the employee could only chuckle gently at his nervousness, “do you know what she likes?” she asks. leehan thought for a while before speaking, “t—tulips i think they’re called?” he blurts. he remembered a conversation between the two of you as you mentioned something about you adoring tulips. his brain couldn’t properly wrap around what you specifically said.
the employee nods whilst she guides him to the section adorned with beautiful tulips. “here are our tulips, feel free to look around and call me when you need any help!”
he inspected the tulips closely, the alluring cup-shaped flower that bloomed in vibrant colors. walking up to one that had caught his attention, he calls out for the employee. “i think i want this one” he says calmly.
not long after, he succeeds in buying you a bouquet of beautiful white and pink tulips.
⭑。𖦹°‧
next is chocolates! what’s valentine’s day without some nice and sweet chocolates?
he swore he remembered what type of chocolates you liked. approaching the grocery store, he comes to the realization that he in fact did not remember which chocolates you specifically liked.
he arrived at the aisle where the chocolates resided, only to stare at them for a few minutes. he pondered over which ones he thought would be your favorite.
he grabs some heart-shaped milk chocolate mini bites whilst hoping for the best. he approaches the cashier and proceeds to pay for the milk chocolates that he could only assume you liked.
⭑。𖦹°‧
now that he’s gotten the flowers and chocolates, all he needed to do was to surprise you with them on valentine’s day. luckily for him, he had already made plans with you in order to spend valentine’s day together to have a picnic which was tomorrow.
arriving home, he realizes that he was smiling to himself, imagining how cute your reaction would be to his gifts. but, a part of him still wondered if he had messed up anything.
did he actually hear you right? did you actually have tulips as your favorite flower? did he guess right? did you actually like milk chocolate?
though he quickly shook the thoughts away and assured himself that everything would go perfectly fine.
⭑。𖦹°‧
the day has come, the day where love is practically in the air. he got up with excitedly, before he continued to put on a simple outfit as well as spritzing the cologne that you had gotten him.
reaching the area you and leehan had planned to meet up at for the picnic, he stands and anxiously waits. he had the flowers and chocolates in hand, occasionally looking at the time on his watch.
not long after, his eyes wandered around as they laid on you. in a beautiful and flowy dress. his cheeks flush a hint of a pinkish hue, his eyes lingering on you. you approach him with a picnic basket in hand. “hi! sorry, did i make you wait?” you ask.
he was silent for a few moments, letting himself take in your beauty. it really hasn’t hit him that you’re his..
he finally realizes you asked a question, “o—oh me?? ahahaha! no i just arrived..” he says nervously. you can only smile at his response. “happy valentine’s day.” he says with nervousness painted all over his face.
“i got you these..” he murmurs as he brings his hands from behind his back, showing you the tulips and milk chocolate he got you.
you gasp, seeing that he successfully got you your favorite flowers and type of chocolate. “seriously!?” you say excitedly, he pauses as he looks at you anxiously.
“i—in a good way?” he asks. “yes in a good way! they’re so beautiful, thank you!” you assure, before he could even process your reaction you had already gone in for a hug.
he can’t help but get all shy, his eyes reluctantly wrapping around your waist gently.
“i love you.” you say with nothing but adoration in your voice. he melted at your words before gathering the courage to even say it back. “i love you more..”

Wonwoo did not expect to find himself in the situation he was in. When he offered to help put some lights up outside, he did not imagine half of his body to be encased in a string of gold and white orbs. It was a simple task; wrap the lights around a few columns near the front door and be done.
Why did he have to make things so complicated?
However, seeing the look of happiness and humor on your face, he thinks maybe it was a sweet serendipity to be stuck. Someone so beautiful as you being so enamored with him, enamored enough to bring him home for the holidays to meet your family, he feels lucky even in his unluckiest moments.
Like right now, his ticklish spots exposed and vulnerable for you to exploit. Of course, he will let you do as you please because he can't say no to you ever, but he has to act like he's putting his foot down sometimes.
"If you try to tickle me one more time, I swear you will not get another kiss for a week," he threatens, although the words ring hollow even to him. He can't go an hour without some form of physical affection, and you both know it.
You smirk, your warm hand coming to find the skin of his stomach underneath his sweater. "You wouldn't dare."
No I wouldn’t, he thinks to himself. But he quirks an eyebrow up and feigns a challenge for you to accept. “Try me.”

IS IT NEW YEARS YET?

1.2K ⸺ a christmas hater and a christmas lover find themselves in the kitchen of a cozy apartment, trading sarcasm, small talk, and maybe a little more
PAIRING! yang jungwon x female reader
GENRES! fluff, comedy, frenemies trope
PLAYLIST! is it new years yet? by sabrina carpenter
WARNINGS! reader doesn't like christmas, reader drinks cocoa, mention of food

December is a prison.
Everywhere you look, someone is trying to shove some holiday cheer down your throat. You hate it. The blinding, glittering lights and tinny jingles that cause a headache trying way too hard to convince you that this is the most wonderful time of the year.
The relentless cheer, the endless loop of Mariah Carey in every store, the corny hallmark movies, inflatable Santas, and people pretending eggnog is drinkable and fruitcake is edible. You don’t buy it. For you, December is just another month to survive, one suffocating under an avalanche of forced cheer and bad decisions disguised as tradition. The holiday shoppers, the sweaters, the increase of whining children—it’s all too much.
Yet here you are, trapped in a Christmas Eve party that feels more like a hostage situation. You’d planned on staying home with a glass of wine and a movie that didn’t feature talking reindeer or falling snow, but your friend—if you can even call her that—insisted. And because you have a masochistic streak, or maybe just a lack of willpower, you showed up.
You’ve stationed yourself in the kitchen, it’s quieter here, a sanctuary compared to the crowded living room packed with people you barely know, all laughing too loudly and swapping gifts you’re certain will end up in a landfill by February.
You’ve been hiding out here for the past twenty minutes, nursing a drink and hoping no one will notice your absence. Arms crossed, leaning against the counter, glaring at the glittery centerpiece on the table like it personally offended you.
“Well, if it isn’t our resident holiday killjoy.”
You don't have to look to know who it is. The voice is unmistakable—light, teasing, and annoyingly smug.
Jungwon.
You glance at him anyway, because ignoring him won’t make him go away.
He’s leaning against the doorway, his ridiculous Christmas sweater somehow managing to look good on him. It’s got a snowman with googly eyes, and you want to hate it, but the worst part is you don’t. His grin is as infuriating as always—bright, mischievous, and unbothered, his eyes sparkling with amusement as he takes in your expression that screams don’t talk to me.
“And here I thought you were too busy decking the halls to notice me,” you reply, your voice dripping with sarcasm.
He smirks, stepping into the kitchen like he owns the place. “Oh, I noticed you. You’re kind of hard to miss when you’re the only person in this joint giving off Scrooge energy.”
“I’m not giving off Scrooge energy,” you snap, though you are. “I’m avoiding unnecessary human interaction, which, by the way, you’re currently ruining.”
Jungwon doesn’t take the hint. He never does. Instead, he grabs a cookie off the counter, takes a bite, and leans casually against the counter next to you. “So, what’s the escape plan? Gonna fake a tummy ache or claim you have to leave early because of some elaborate story you clearly just made up?”
You decide not to admit it was the latter, the last thing you need tonight is to prove Jungwon right.
“I was thinking of just walking out,” you say dryly. “No excuses. Just leave.”
He snorts. “Bold move. Very on-brand for you.”
Finally, you turn to face him, narrowing your eyes. “Why are you here, Jungwon? Don’t you have some caroling to do or a snowman to build?”
He grins, unfazed by your sarcasm. “Oh, I’ve already done both. I'm here to check on you, you know, like Cindy Lou Who did for the Grinch?”
“Your heart is two sizes too small,” he says, and proceeds to make the dumbest sad face you've ever seen.
You try to fight the tiny smile tugging at your lips but fail. Jungwon notices, of course, because he notices everything.
“See? I knew you didn't hate Christmas that much,” he says, triumphantly.
You sigh, crossing your arms. “I don’t hate it. I just don’t see the point. It’s loud, obnoxious, and overrated.”
“Or,” he counters, gesturing toward the living room, where people are laughing and exchanging gifts by a sparkling tree. “It's about that.”
You raise an eyebrow, skeptical. But there's a slight tug at your heartstrings as you watch a girl hug her friend with tears pricking her eyes. “What exactly are we looking at?”
He tilts his head, studying you with that irritatingly perceptive gaze of his. “You know, you’re like a walking anti-Christmas PSA. It’s impressive, really.”
You roll your eyes. “And you’ve clearly auditioned for Santa’s favorite elf.”
“Wrong. I’m more of a ‘holiday mischief maker,’” he says, wiggling his eyebrows. “And right now, my mission is to annoy you with all the holiday cheer I can possibly muster.”
You glare at him, but there’s no real heat behind it. The worst part is, Jungwon is so annoyingly persistent and unshakably optimistic that part of you almost envies him. Almost.
“It's nice.” you shrug. “But not everyone thinks this season is magical, you know.”
“Ah, I see. You’re one of those people who hates Christmas because it never lives up to the hype.”
You pause, caught off guard by how easily he’s summed you up. “It’s not about the hype,” you say finally, avoiding his gaze. “It’s about how empty it all feels. Everyone’s running around acting like this one day is supposed to fix everything, but it doesn’t. We’ll all go back to our regular lives the next day like none of it ever happened.”
He doesn’t respond right away, and for a second, you think you’ve actually managed to scare him off. But then he leans closer, his voice softer now, less playful. “You know what I think? I think you’re trying so hard not to care that you’ve forgotten how to let yourself enjoy the small stuff.”
You blink at him, thrown by the sudden sincerity in his tone. “And you’re suddenly the expert on what I need?”
“Not an expert,” he says, his grin returning. “Just observant.”
He gestures toward the party again. “Look, I get it. The holidays can be a lot. But they can also be kind of great, if you let them. Like right now—this could be one of those moments you look back on, and it’s not about the decorations or the music. It’s just… people. Being together. Isn’t that worth something?”
You arch an eyebrow. “Do you hear yourself right now? You sound like a Hallmark movie character.”
“And you sound like someone who’s never actually tried to enjoy Christmas,” he shoots back, smirking.
You snort, shaking your head. “I can't believe people really believe all that.”
“Well, I do.” He holds up his cookie like a toast. “And by the end of the night, I’m betting I’ll convince you too.”
“Well, don’t hold your breath,” you say, reaching for the mug of cocoa that was surprisingly still warm and taking a sip. It’s too sweet, just like everything else tonight, but somehow, with Jungwon standing there, it doesn’t feel quite as unbearable.
And for a moment, you let yourself enjoy it.
“Don’t worry,” he says with a wink. “I’m patient.”
“Good luck with that,” you mutter, but there’s a faint smile tugging at the corner of your lips now, one you can’t quite suppress.
Jungwon notices, of course. He always does. You imagine he always will. And as much as you hate to admit it, you’re kind of glad he came into the kitchen.
December was a bore, and you were sick and tired of this holiday, but small talk in the kitchen with Yang Jungwon wasn't half bad.

navi/masterlist!! 🤍 the boyz masterlist
the holiday season has started and this is my first (?) holiday season fic for this year!! thank you so much for this prompt for haknyeon @hursheys !! finally have a haknyeon fic in my masterlist hehe 🤭
light spoiler (?): hak said he wouldn't watch a romcom with his bestie but...hehe-
“At this point, you guys will never get together. It’ll take a miracle to even get you guys together.”
“Forget about getting together, they can’t even go on a proper date with each other.”
“Okay then why don’t you guys try to confess to your childhood best friend that you’ve been in love for a long time, ask them out on a date, kiss them by the mistletoe and live happily ever after?”
Changbin and Allen looked at each other after the short rant from Haknyeon, pointing at each other, “Are you talking about us?”
Haknyeon facepalms at their words, tossing the overcooked meat from the grill onto his plate. His face is buried into his palms, leaning back onto the chair in despair at the thought of him falling deeper in love with you every passing day; every passing second. People say it’s inevitable for you and him to get together, given the long history you both share as your mothers have been best friends since their schooling days. Many say that neither of you needs to put in any effort as time and the universe will do all the work for you.
That’s great. In fact, that’s actually awesome, and Ju Haknyeon has held onto his trust with time and the universe patiently ever since he realised that his feelings for you aren’t platonic. Time passes and now, as you both passed mandatory academic years, took different courses in university, and got a full-time job, he’s starting to run out of patience, feeling restless at how the universe seemed to no longer be helping him, but testing him.
Haknyeon gobbles the pork belly and kimchi in front of him, fueling up his energy to see you tonight for your usual movie night together. Usually, you eat dinner together (and snacks), and get cozy beneath your blankets, but you had a company dinner to attend today, hence why he’s stuck with his two close friends from work. Allen chuckles at the stressed-out boy, shaking his head in amusement at how blind his friend seems to be. Changbin smirks along, eyeing Haknyeon who barely gives any time to properly digest his food.
“Honestly,” Changbin stops momentarily for a drink, “do you really want to end another year like this?”
Haknyeon knew what his friend was referring to but still asked, “Like what?”
“Dude-” Allen facepalms at Haknyeon’s audacity to question. “Do I really need to break it down in full detail?”
“Please don-”
“I’m not sure whether you know this or not but ever since high school, people have been lining up for her. Many have asked her out so many times, and at this point, I think it’s a miracle in itself that she hasn’t gone out on a one date with a guy.”
Allen’s words hit deep as Haknyeon remembers the many times he accidentally walked into someone confessing to you. Every time he finds himself quickly hiding his presence, he also hopes that it’s not too hidden to the point that you can’t feel his desperation for you to reject them. The chopsticks that were in Haknyeon’s hands clang on the table, a sour look overtaking his features at the memory. The atmosphere around the three friends bustles in laughter and heartwarming moments, but all Haknyeon has in his head is your laughter and the heartwarming moments that you share with him.
As if on cue, his phone lights up, your name coupled with a heart emoji next to it as Haknyeon’s cheeks instantly blush. He flips the phone over, his two friends shaking their heads disapprovingly.
“I told you it’ll take a miracle for you both to get together.”
Haknyeon quickly ushers his two friends to leave him alone, partly so that he could cry at the huge financial impact of losing rock, paper, and scissors for who has to pay the bill. Changbin and Allen, however, knew that their lovesick friend just wanted them out of his sight so that he could pick up his best friend.
Proving his point, Haknyeon quickly dials your number, not bothering to take shelter from the gusty winds. You pick up after a few rings, and Haknyeon’s mood picks up faster than that at the sound of your voice.
“I can pick you up now if you’re ready,” he offers.
“Yes! Come quick so that we can have time to watch more movies together!” And who was he to not want to fulfil that wish of yours; it’s his too anyway.
On your side, your closest co-worker puts up a knowing smile at the signature tone that you reserve for the only person in your life. As soon as you press the red button on the call, Hendery wraps an arm around your shoulder, exaggerating a dreamy sigh before sipping his champagne.
“If only I had a person that would save me from this party,” Hendery wiggles his eyebrows at your raised ones. “Look, my dear friend,” he clears his throat, “we made a bet on this remember?”
Oh yeah…that.
“Keep it up for another few weeks until the end of the year and you owe me fifty dollars because you don’t have the guts to ask the person who is obviously head over heels for you. Single for another year!”
“Excuse me, you’re single too?” You decide to point out the fact first to which Hendery stutters to make an excuse. “Plus, I have a lot at stake if he rejects me, okay?”
“You really don’t,” Hendery affirms. “You’re just too blind to see that he literally has heart-shaped eyes for you whenever you’re near him.”
The comment is nothing that you’ve never heard before, not only from him but others too. “Thank you for the very wonderful yet fake insight,” rolling your eyes at the boy who’s ready to speak up again. (Un)fortunately he was cut off by a voice calling out your name not too far away.
You slip out of Hendery’s hold, not minding how he had his weight on you and almost fell face-first to the ground. Your co-worker couldn’t be too angry though because, at the very least, you proved his words to be correct once more. Not only did you give a crushing bear hug to your friend who’s lightly covered with snow, but Haknyeon securely intertwined his fingers around your back, making sure to keep you within his reach. You dust the white from his attire, beanie and some trapped between his strands.
“You can’t even do this at the very least?”
“I have you to do it for me. I don’t see why I have to do it myself.”
His words heats your cheeks and your fingers momentarily freeze between his bangs. Your widened eyes meet his sweet ones, cheekbones rising at your flustered demeanour. In short, Haknyeon found you adorable as you tried to process his daring words. Truthfully, he said those words without much thought yet after saying it, it feels right. You feel like the right person to receive those words from him. A hand holds yours, sharing your body warmth as Haknyeon pulls you out of the building, not wanting to waste any more time.
The drive back to your house is somewhat calming minus the slight dancing from the carpool karaoke that Haknyeon suggested. The choice of music throws away any worries that you or Haknyeon might’ve potentially had over the week; including ones that should have been confronted. As soon as the music switches off and the adrenaline runs out, you’re once again forced to confront reality and for once, you wish Haknyeon didn’t open your side of the car door, holding a hand out for you to take. The habit started a few months ago when you felt drowsy and tired from overworking, almost slipping when you came out of his car. Could Ju Haknyeon be any more perfect than he already was? Well, he could, and it scares you a little bit with how you’re falling deeper and deeper for your best friend.
“Dibs on the bathroom!” Haknyeon announces as soon as you close the front door.
His voice pulls you out of your trance. “That’s not fair!”
“Go order some food first!” He suggests, continuing to run away from you.
You feigned offence with your tongue clicking against the roof of your mouth but it didn’t take long for you to skim through the different cuisines, restaurants and menus that you were craving. Haknyeon gave you full control of dinner tonight, so you took it to your advantage; of course, still ordering food that you know he loves, even though he could eat anything and everything. When the orders are placed and you mentally note the ETA of the driver, you take care of the other preparations such as the small snack bowls, the drinks, and most importantly setting up the new projector that Haknyeon invested in for your weekly movie nights.
You dash around the house for any throw pillows, cushions, plushies and weighted covers for the marathon. In the end, you could barely see the grey fabric of the couch but at least you would both be snug and warm; from the lack of space and from each other’s presence. On cue, the bathroom door opens and the light steam escapes along with it.
“Did you take a shower or a saun-” All words halted when Haknyeon stepped out of the bathroom.
No, he’s not naked. He’s fully clothed from top to bottom. Yet maybe that’s why your heart rapidly accelerates for his outfit choice makes him all the more attractive and huggable. The sweatshirt and sweatpants, two complimentary colours that is definitely complimenting him. Your fist clenches at nothing, controlling your unshowered self from cuddling him and the self-control is immense. Haknyeon doesn’t realise the effect that he had on you, casually throwing himself on the comfortable cloud that you prepared behind the projector.
“This feels like home,” muttering about the fabric beneath him.
For him, it was just a phrase. For you, it meant much more than that. You start to overanalyse the sentence: does he mean your actual house? Does he mean resting? Is she saying that the couch is comfy? Or that the water when he showered is the perfect temperature? Maybe it was the-
“Come on,” Haknyeon sits up and slips beneath the blankets. “Go wash up quickly and I'll keep an eye out for delivery.”
“R-Right,” nervous laughter slipping through your lips. You point towards the bathroom behind you, slowly retreating backwards towards where it is. “Don't eat all the snacks!” You warn.
“I will if you don't finish showering in twenty minutes.”
You have never finished your nighttime routine so fast at Haknyeon’s words. The only thing you had in mind whenever you thought about taking your sweet time during your skincare routine was the bowl of sweets that would steadily decrease every second. As soon as you free the hot steam from your shower by opening the door, you’re also greeted by fresh delivery cuisine. The aroma of the food is the first thing you notice and Haknyeon about to take a bite before you see what you notice after.
“Oops,” aware of your deadpanned expression. “Come on, come on!”
You heed his hurriedness, wanting to feel warmer after walking into the cooler air after your quick sauna. You scroll through the available shows with Haknyeon beside you, shoulders touching each other. It's not a novel feeling which is why you couldn't understand why you feel like your heart is about to jump out of your chest. Alas, you both settled on one of the newly added romance movies.
You followed the story well; for most of it, at least. You couldn't help but get distracted by the way that Haknyeon rested his head on your shoulder. You turn your focus back to the movie, another one where the characters are oblivious to each other's infatuation. In a funny scene or when the two main characters are idiots in love, your heart swells at his laugh, wishing to hear it every day; wishing that you were the reason why.
“Just like you,” unknowingly voicing your thoughts.
“Hm?” Haknyeon lifts his head from your shoulder. “What were you saying?”
“N-No,” hastily shaking your head and reaching for your phone to rewind what you missed due to your thoughts. “N-Nothing.”
Haknyeon beats your reach to your device, pressing the pause button before you can double-tap on the left side of your screen. He sets the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table, crossing his legs and adjusting his body to face yours.
“What's wrong?” He interrogates softly.
“Nothing,” you repeated. “Just a passing thought.”
Ju Haknyeon is completely fine with you keeping your thoughts to yourself. He respects your boundaries. It’s the same way that you respect his space and boundaries. With the way your fingers fidget with the sewing of your blanket and your eyes aren't even meeting his, he just had a feeling it's more than just ‘nothing’ as you claimed.
“Okay,” he doesn't press on further to your surprise. You shift to a better position, ready to resume the movie, but instead, a question makes you stop, “Are you free this weekend?”
It’s a simple question. There’s nothing special about it. If so, then why did he say it so softly that you could have missed it?
“What?” Taken aback by the sudden change of topic.
He shrugs, playing cool and collected when in reality, he’s nervous about the words spilling out of his mouth. “Just want to know because there's this nice restaurant and I want to take you out.”
If he had ended the sentence after the restaurant, it wouldn't seem unusual. You and him have been restaurant hopping ever since you both received financial stability. It's just everything after that word that makes the world silent.
“Take me out?”
“Yeah,” he affirms with a shoulder shrug. He’s locked in now. It's all of nothing. “Like a date. You know,” pointing to the screen, “like these two. I'll pay for everything,” hoping to convince you.
But the movie doesn't depict a friendly date or that kind. It's a romantic date, with flowers and one partner picking the other one up at their door. It's the kind of date that you would expect one partner to drop the other back safely to their house. The type of date where the inviter would woo the invitee. The one where one is showing obvious interest in another. The one where they press a ‘goodnight’ kiss on the lips. It's that kind of date.
And he just asked you on that kind of date.
“I need just one date,” he continues a bit more. Haknyeon gathers his courage to look into your eyes for a longer period of time, meeting with the way you blink seemingly without much thought, head seemingly empty. His shoulders slump slightly, “You know what? Never mind. Forget I ever said anything-”
“You think you can woo me with just one date?”
He takes a bit of buffering time to process your words. Slowly, a smile grew on his lips, and he couldn't help but hide his expression behind a nearby cushion that he was hugging before he paused the movie. One confident and automatic answer is what he gives you, “Absolutely.”
And so, the rest of the night after his answer shifts. It’s spent with more contact, Haknyeon daringly growing closer to you; not that he wasn’t before. You also relish in this, intertwining your hands together. Yes, this made snacking a little bit difficult, but you get to finally hold Haknyeon’s hand in a different way, so what is food when you can be like this to Haknyeon? You hope your hands will stay like this until the morning light dawns when, to your disappointment, it’s Haknyeon’s cue to leave.
“Oh. My. God.” These are the first few words Haknyeon says after coming back home the next day. He leans to his front door for support, putting a palm on top of his heart.
First of all, how did he even manage to sleep over last night? And actually got sleep with you next to him? It’s not a dream when he woke up earlier today, you snuggling your face into his chest, looking for his comfort and warmth. Your free hand seemed to have been clenching his top, the wrinkles during the day telling him so. Just like you hoped, both your hands stay holding each other through the rest of the night. You look peaceful in your slumber, breathing steadily, unaware of his heart going haywire. Haknyeon didn’t expect you to be so close after his question, yet he’s thankful for waking up to such a beautiful sight.
Second of all, the kiss on your forehead. The one he gave as a ‘good morning’ greeting, not knowing that you would stir awake. The way you rub your eyes to rid the sleepiness was beyond adorable, and the calming rhythm of your ‘good morning’ greeting is something he wants to hear more often.
Just one question led to all of this.
A hand flies to cover his wide-opened mouth. Haknyeon didn't know where the sudden burst of energy came from, nor did it matter because he really did it. He asked you out on a date. A romantic one at that. He really said the magic words that he has been dying to say for longer than a decade, and you actually agreed. None of this would matter, and he wouldn't be sliding his back against the door and sitting on the floor in a daze if you didn't agree.
He replays the whole night once more, a brightening grin overtaking his being for the rest of the day. Of course, this feeling is caught easily through the phone by Changbin and Allen who is proud of their boy for finally taking the first step.
Ju Haknyeon doesn’t really plan.
Even if he does, he doesn’t plan things meticulously. Even if he’s unsure about how things will go or knows that he really should plan certain things, he thinks just going along with the flow, and figuring things out when the time comes is best. When it comes to you though, he could change with a snap of his fingers. Changbin and Allen didn’t do much help when it came to things to do with you as he plans to extend the date to more than just dinner. The internet provides him with great recommendations but the fact that it’s accessible to everyone beats the purpose of wanting to make the day unique and special.
Haknyeon leans back to his bed, soothing the hunched posture that he has been keeping up non-stop for almost an hour. He balances his laptop on his lap, spreading his arm across his sheets. “Ugh,” shutting his eyes to relieve the growing pain around his head. The weather didn’t help either as despite his heater and the apartment being nicely insulated, the falling snowflakes outside could still be felt with the layers he has on.
The boy starts to move his arms, generating friction and heat that he hopes to be enough even though it might be short term. Then, the action seems to be familiar to him.
“You two!” Haknyeon’s mum hollers with worry. “You’re going to both get sick!”
Haknyeon and you only continued to mark your figures onto the plush snow, dusting your faces away from the ones that gently shimmered down onto your faces. Mothers knew best, and both of you got sick not long after. If you could turn back time, maybe he would listen to his mum. In saying this, he knows he wouldn’t fully listen to her, maybe instead opting for a compromise like not making snow angels under one of the coldest sprinkling winter days for an hour straight.
The memory stays firm in his mind. It eventually becomes a tradition each winter to visit his parent’s house to make another snow angel together. Unfortunately, through the past years, it has been broken and his parent’s front garden hasn’t heard your laughter for a while. This winter too, would be a journey to go back home, so Haknyeon knew that it would be close to impossible. Yet, the premise of the tradition is continued.
This year, it will continue once more as Haknyeon hopes that the angels he’s made throughout the years will hear his wishes that your relationship with him will change after this holiday season.
Maybe, Haknyeon should have wished a bit more from the angels. Once he gathered all his plans for the day, he should’ve wished that it would all go well, just like in the movies and books. One of the main characters would profess their love, and the other would confirm their feelings back to them. In the end, they would cup their cheeks, press their lips to a loving kiss and live happily ever after together.
Currently, the restaurant messed up their booking time. Haknyeon booked for six, yet somehow the restaurant thought he said eight. The two numbers don't even sound alike, so how it happened was beyond him. As much as Haknyeon, you were confused and calmly asked if they could sit you both in. Thankfully, the restaurant was able to accommodate the confusion, and a massive weight was eased from Haknyeon’s shoulder.
The waitress guided you both to the spot that Haknyeon initially requested, giving you a view of the nightscape of Seoul, blanketed with white on the rooftops and the streets. Haknyeon is pleased to see that he made the right choice, seeing your eyes widen at the view, leaning over to capture all that you could. You were so immersed to the point that you forgot about the menu, only attending to it after your stomach growled. Food is best when you’re feeling ready for it anyway, and the booklet in front of you feeds onto your expectations even more.
“Just that?” Haknyeon double-checks with a knowing grin. “Not even dessert?”
“I need more time!” You exclaim, lightly jumping on your seat at the range of selection. “You tell me that as if you’ve made your full decision as well.”
After some recommendations from food blogs, checking the options together with, of course, the light bickering that comes along with it, the menu is taken away to regain some peace and tranquillity. It's at this moment that everything seems to slow down. You thought of two things with Haknyeon rubbing his hands together: the cold. It’s been dropping the past few days, especially the time when you both cuddled against each other, so that would be a fair assumption. However, you’ve been in this room for more than half an hour now, so you decided maybe not. Second, it’s just this whole atmosphere. The bouquet he gifted leaning against the window pane, and you across the table with the best clothes that you have. The red spreads across his cheeks as you both sit in silence. It wasn’t uncomfortable, never that with you, but the new situation had him darting his eyes everywhere but yours.
“I’m nervous,” you spoke honestly first. A light chuckle is the next thing you do to fill the silence.
Haknyeon felt his body relax at the mutual feeling, “Me too.”
To lighten the new environment, you give Haknyeon your phone, asking him to take a picture of you and the flowers. Unlike all the other times, Haknyeon refused to take it with your device, ensuring a copy for himself, swearing that he’d send it to you after. After making him promise, you shyly pose with the abundance of roses and pansies.
“Pretty,” he compliments you. He leans to rest the flowers against the window, ignoring the crease between your eyebrows. A hand slides across the table, stopping halfway with an open palm, “Can I hold your hand? At least until the food comes.”
You unclasp your slightly shaky hands, accepting Haknyeon’s palm. You trace your fingertips along him, curling them inwards as Haknyeon does the same to yours. The gentle hold is new and fleeting but undoubtedly will be something you will instantly crave all the time. Oh, and how his thumb delicately traces along your knuckles makes you melt. You didn’t want to retract your hand when the food arrived, and Haknyeon had the same thought, holding on until it became too hard to eat. Another one to add to his adorable moments.
“Where are we gonna be making snow angels this year?”
At first, Haknyeon thought his plans had been exposed but then remembered that it was an annual event. He shrugs, “Anywhere you want. I guess we can’t go back to my parents’ house.”
“Hm,” you ponder about places. “What about that park we always used to go to after school?”
“What a memory,” he reminisces about the time you spent there: skipping classes, running away at midnight to meet each other, having picnics, spending your allowance and hiding the evidence of sweets there. “Let’s.”
After a satisfying meal, that’s exactly where Haknyeon drove you. You both knew that the chances of you getting sick once more are high, but if you’re going to get sick anyway, might as well make the moment the best. The warm-up included running around in circles, and hiding behind trees and bushes as you both prepared another round of snowballs. The hiding part isn’t executed too well for either of you, with deep footsteps revealing the other’s whereabouts. You called it truce after, knowing that you could never beat a Haknyeon that just ate a hearty meal. Whilst Haknyeon still had the energy to stand and hop around, gathering snow to his palms to throwing it to the sky, you catch your breath at the bench.
You haven’t seen Haknyeon this carefree for a while, and you thank the holiday season for this side of him that deserves to wind down and relax. The boy runs up to you with both hands behind his back, fluffy hair bouncing according to his footsteps. Per his request to hold your hands out, Haknyeon gently places a handful of the cold crystal in the shape of a heart.
“Of course, eventually this heart will melt,” he nods slowly to his words, “but never mine when it comes to you.”
The short speech is enough to convey his feelings. You thought the night he asked you out would be almost all that he has for you, but he’s just waiting for the right moment to spoil you. While you’re entranced with the pureness of Haknyeon’s work in your palms, Haknyeon dashes away to plant his back to the cloud.
“Hey!” You call him out. “We’re supposed to do it together!”
Your feet dash to be beside him, the heart is still in your hand, unwilling to let it shatter. Even though Haknyeon is facing the sky, he knows that you’re not lying down next to him. He cranes his head, seeing you crouching down to your knees a few steps away from him, setting it down safely. Then, you’re next to him, copying his actions of spreading his limbs across the icy cloud, laughter accompanying his. You were both constantly checking on your artwork, standing to see for improvements, then laying back down, turning it into a light competition.
“Okay fine,” Haknyeon concedes as he starts to feel his thighs give out. “You can win only if you listen to me carefully.”
“About what?” Fully turning your body to him.
Slowly, you see the playfulness fade from his features. His lips still held their crescent shape from earlier, slightly tenser yet at the same time, genuine in its meaning. Haknyeon’s chest rises as he takes a deep breath, a white cloud following him when he lets go of any tension and nervousness. You shift your weight from one weight to another when he begins to turn his body to yours. Haknyeon takes your gloved hands to his, firmly holding them and looking into your eyes with sincerity. There, you see the eyes that everyone has been saying; the heart-shapes floating in those brown orbs, pulling you in securely.
“I love you,” he confesses the words that gracefully land on your heart. “Not in a friendship way.
I wish every single day that I would be able to say these words. For every single year, we would be different. And this year for me is it,” calmly putting the point across that he wants more from this relationship with you. “But if you don’t, we can forget about this whole thing. The whole of today can just be a normal hang-out. If you don’t, then I will try to let go of loving you, even though it’ll take time. If you don’t, we can just become best friends and pretend like you’ve never heard of these words.”
There’s a passing beat of silence from both of you, Haknyeon waiting for an answer, and you waiting for the right time to do what you have always longed to do. You escape from Haknyeon’s hold, cupping his cheeks and pulling him closer to you. Your lips finally connected to his, dancing elegantly like the snowflakes in the sky. His lips tremble meeting your cold ones, yet that’s the reason why he deepens the kiss, a hand on your lower back to soothe the chilly season. One hand trails his jawline, down the slope of his neck, feeling his gulping as you stop at the start of the neckline of his shirt. Noses brushed against each other, sometimes bumping at the hurried pace of the kiss. If it wasn’t for your gloves, it would have been wrinkled just like that night you held onto him for dear life.
“Haknyeon,” a gap between your kisses allows you to start, “if you don’t mind, I would love this to be a date.”
The boy smiles at the confirmation. “Really?” A nod from you. “Why?”
You knew that he was searching for the words that he yearned to hear from you. And you? You had no intention to hide it any longer. “Because I've loved you since the moment we met.”
That’s Haknyeon’s cue to guide the second round of kisses, embracing you closer to him by your nape. Barely any space is left between you and that’s exactly what you both want. “We should’ve done this earlier,” whispering to your lips before diving in again.
“We should’ve.”
Haknyeon directs his kisses all over your face: one cheek to the tip of your nose, lingering at your other cheek. “You’re in love with me…” Your eyelids close to make sure his lips touch there too, ending at your forehead. He leans his forehead to yours after, “It’s a holiday miracle…”
You shake your head, signalling to him that your feelings for him are genuine, whether or not he’s wished for it to the angels. “It’s not a miracle, Hak. I’ve been in love with you for a long time.”
Your words itself feel like a miracle to hear. “You’re right.” To have the words that he has daydreamed and dreamt about him elevates everything more. “You’re a miracle to me.”
