I get it. I get why I bottled it up. Why I locked it up even to myself, pushed it down until nobody could ever seen it, not even me. The black psyche-locks. I get it. It was so much easier to do that than confront it. When you’re filled with anger and “it should have been mes” spanning years and years and YEARS, an entire lifetime, even, it’s so much easier to just push it down and focus. Read books. Understand all of the ins and outs of the field that allows you to be what you needed to be in the first place. Envy makes sense to have if they’re not deserving of what they have to begin with. Perfection is simple. Polishing perfection under layers and layers of gloss is simple. It’s beautiful. I was beautiful, and now I’m here again, in another life, nowhere near what I was before Wright came back and played his role in implementing the damn jurist system, in no way able to put that gloss back on. In a near-identical situation, and I don’t have the past that I had to hold myself up with a smile. I’m gripping onto tables and glaring into mirrors and visibly angry and the sting hurts to its core because I can’t mask it this time around. Damn it, it should be me. not them. I worked so much harder and they’re pulling everything out of their asses. I don’t have the gloss, I don’t have the polish this time around. I’m just some guy, and I’m not supposed to be just some guy. I need to be at the top again.

Hey bio have you ever seen Nezumi VA's video essays on Ace Attorney?

I think she's really good at being fair to even the "bad" stuff. She does suffer from the "uncomfy topics=wrong"(in very few instances,like the whole turnabout bigtop case) thing but she also believes in art.

She just released an Apollo Justice video.

Speaking as Kristoph Gavin I am not currently in the headspace to receive criticism of my actions. XD

Seriously though, we do very genuinely tend to avoid video essays analyzing our kin sources because they tend to speak and present themselves as if they were authoritative, unlike engaging with meta posts where we can present our view where it differs in return.

I have a tough time listening to a documentary about why I'm a horrible person for an hour and then I can't even respond to the criticism XD

I've had two different ideas about the Gavin brothers' backstory, and it might even be possible to combine them.

First idea: The Gavin family are a mob/mafia type of family in Europe, specifically Austria. Kristoph got himself and Klavier out of that situation when Klavier was young, so he wouldn't get caught up in the turf wars. He pulled strings to move to Germany, where they both lived together for some time before Klavier grew up and got a legal education of his own. Kristoph learned his shady ways from the crime family's go-to lawyer, and never quite broke those bad habits of forgery, blackmail and bribery. Klavier never found out about his brother's dark side until Turnabout Succession.

Second idea: Klavier and Kristoph's parents were killed in a hit and run car accident, leaving them in the care of their uncle, Klaus, who is their only surviving next of kin. Klaus is a prosecutor. He is strict, but fair and he does the best he can to balance his work and the raising of his late sister's children. Klavier goes through a phase of teenage rebellion that causes a rift between him and his uncle. In the meantime, Kristoph sees something on one of his early cases that he keeps bottled up. Something that shows him the darker side of humanity. The brothers move out of their uncle’s house, Klavier feeling like he has something to prove, and Kristoph with a secret he feel he cannot tell anyone.

If combined, perhaps Klaus Gavin is estranged from the Family and had to leave his home country to start a new life. Moving in with him is part of Kristoph’s plan to keep Klavier safe. Rather than dying in a car wreck, maybe the brothers’ birth parents either perish in another turf war, or they’re still sitting in life imprisonment after their home got raided by the Austrian authorities.

Klavier was shielded from a lot of the darkness in his family in this version of events. And maybe he feels regret he could not do the same for his brother.
