Regarding the characters meme, to avoid asking the obvious (for me first and foremost, haha; because that would inevitably and predictably be Atreus, Angrboda, Kratos and Freya) how about Hildisvini, Sif and Sindri.

Hildisvini:

The only reason I'm not putting him in favorites is because he's one of the characters I believe could've had more scenes. Especially with Freya and Freyr. What we got I still love, a really charming character! But going off the events after Asgard's fall, it seems like they have things in store for him and Sif. So I'm excited for that

Sif:

She's beautiful! An excellent translation from myths to game, I dare say the most accurate one too. Her writing sparks much interest in me and happens to be one of my favorite type of arcs. With her amount of screentime, they did great work.

Sindri:

I already liked him in 2018, but his development after Brok's death is something else. Maybe might feel a bit too sudden if you're rushing through the story? Anyways, mostly I'm left wondering what they'll do in next games. If they even do that is. Continuing his story means it'll end with repeating another character's arc. We have accepting and forgiving with Freya and not being able to let go of their hate with Gná.

Elden Ring Coop MomentsTM

There have been some entertaining MomentsTM in the last few days during Elden Ring coop as players prepare for the DLC.

A nod to Baldur's Gate 3 below. Their other cooperator is kindly bowing as I'm summoned in.

(Skip this paragraph if you play soulsborne games.) While Elden Ring has voice chat, it's pretty rarely used. A lot of the player base enjoys the vague, emote-based system you end up having to use to communicate. It's similar to Animal Crossing in that way, and it's equally as charming.

In this session, the Host was very close to dying at the same time that the boss really only needed 1 more hit to be finished off. So I ran in to take aggro and made a silly mistake that got me killed. However, it gave the Host time to chug a healing flask and finish the boss off. The Host then used the Dejection emote to fall to their knees in mourning for the loss of their cooperator at the last moment of the battle:

Here is the biggest Fuck You to this boss I've ever seen: not one but TWO Kamehameha meme beams to chew through his health. The other mage didn't quite survive to the end, but it gave the Host the time they needed to finish off the last bit of health.

TOS Replay Stray Thoughts No. 4 (Luin/Asgard/Balacruf Mausoleum)

-“I’ve read nothing but books in angelic language since I was a child” Oof, the religious propaganda runs deep. I wonder how left out Colette felt?

-Mmmmm yeah listen to the Luin music sing. “Water symphony”, indeed!

-Ever notice how Asgard doesn’t have a fence? Like, it's on a cliff -- that's a public health hazard if I've ever seen one. Y'all so preoccupied with your tourism and open half-elf discrimination while there's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Get on that!

-One thing Tales of Symphonia does really well is how lived-in and handcrafted the house interiors are, with Asgard and Luin being particular standouts. Just look at the story Harley's house tells! You don’t see this sort of detail in modern Tales anymore...

-The Asgard Human Ranch…but it doesn’t have any relationship with Asgard. Hmm. Shoulda been Luin Human Ranch.

-I don't dabble into customization/spending GRADE *too* much, so I always forget how cost-effective it is. Managing Tales of Symphonia’s economy is fun.

-“There are hardly any trace of the ancient civilization left. It’s almost as if they were intentionally erased by someone.”

HMMMM. Cruxis??? But why would they care about the Balacruf Dynasty? Kinda wish we knew more about that. 

-There's this whole flying dragon business that's always talked about, but almost never seen aside from Hima. I wanna see how that works.

On that note, what's with how one Asgard dragon looks totally different? He's a cutie.

-That dais bomb disbarment scene is peak TOS comedy with how Raine keeps beating up that one dude. Also, sudden Lloyd bomb disarment skills.

-That scene when Harley almost gives away their half-elf identities 😬😬😬 The way the Asgard elder and his assistants giving Genis those looks says it all -- poor guy must've been terrified.

(By the way, I don’t remember if they fixed this in the ports, but did you notice Secret of the blue sky plays veeeeeeeeery faintly here? I know that’s a song associated with half-elf discrimination, but I think the wind howling speaks for itself.)

-“that monster with a giant f*cking blade for an appendage and demanding virgin sacrifices was a problem but Harley merely existing and minding his own business is a way bigger issue”.

Colette’s trying her absolute hardest to downplay her trauma for Lloyd's sake (“But my eyes have gotten better!”) even though anyone paying attention can see she can't even convince herself ("I've gotten so good at hearing that...it's painful") and Lloyd just stops and hugs her in the middle of it and apologizes for everything…and she can’t even feel it! SHE CAN'T EVEN CRY!!! AAAAGGGHHHH

The first character I fell in love with: Probably Sheena

My ultimate favorite character: Kratos

Prettiest character: Definitely Raine, but even as a lesbian, I cannot deny that Kratos is very good-looking.

My most hated character: Kvar, and then Mithos is a character I love to hate because he's so fucked up.

My OTP: ToS is one of my gen fandoms, so I don't really like it for ship purposes. But my favorite ship is probably Kranna, thanks to all the awesome fan content that was made for this ship.

My NOTP: Once again, not too passionate about this one. But I'll go ahead and say Shelos. I DO ship them, but only unrequited Shelos because I think Sheena deserves better (and I want her to have a girlfriend, sue me). I also don't like Raine/Lloyd because I don't believe Raine would fall for him.

Favorite episode (moment): Oh my god, definitely Colette becoming an angel and Kratos betraying the party. What a way to raise the stakes and really gut the player. That part still gets to me.

Favorite season (act): I have a hard time choosing between acts 1 and 2. Act 1 is great because you have Kratos and you start to understand the horror of Colette's situation. Plus, I love Kratos and Lloyd's relationship. Act 2 is great because you know more about the world, the stakes are high, you get introduced to the rest of the main cast, and you get to explore Tethe'alla.

Least favorite season (act): Probably Act 3. I do like it, but the pacing gets out of control during the final act. So it is brought down.

Character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but I hate: Forcystus seems somewhat popular with the fandom, and I don't get it. Probably because we don't get enough time with him.

My 'you're a piece of trash, but you're still a fave' fave: Zelos, that's an easy one. Kratos also counts.

My 'beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this' fav: How could I not say Colette for this one? Hey game, can you please stop tormenting Colette FOR FIVE MINUTES?!

My 'they're kind of cute, and I lowkey ship them, but I'm not too invested' ship: Zelloyd. I get it, I really do. But I don't think that I can quite see it playing out. I'm also choosing Kratos, sorry Zelos. :/

Here are my takes that I couldn't fit:

Lloyd and Kratos are my favorite relationship; messy parent-child relationships are super interesting to me.

I'm not insanely passionate about Colloyd, but I do think it's cute. I can't see either of them being with anyone else, and I like the childhood friends-to-lovers angle a lot. They are adorkable all the way.

Sheena/Colette is awesome. People tearing down female characters to "prove" one of them is a better fit for the male lead pisses me off. And these arguments are almost always dripping with misogyny. That's one of the reasons why I ship Sheena and Colette (in addition to thinking they would be so cute together!).

oh kratos was definitely the biggest surprise, especially with happening upon his source by pure happenstance, took me a few videos of lore ig but not too long to fall for him

i do not have spotify, but i tend to listen to a lot of 80s love songs and at the very least one tends to sneak its way onto all my playlists
