my apologies to tumblr democracy, I'm pairing krampus sirius with elf remus bc the nightmare before christmas au wasn't sparking joy! as an apology, please enjoy this snippet of what I did write before scrapping it:

“Would you like some tea?” Remus asks, gesturing to a cauldron bubbling over with greenish goo. “Er… no thank you.” Remus shrugs and scoops himself a goblet. He doesn’t dare ask where the liquid goes after entering his mouth. “How do you usually sleep? Under the bed? Under the stairs? In a closet?” Curled up beside you, he thinks. Not that there’s much of this version to cuddle. “How silly of me!” Remus whacks his head. “You wouldn’t have any of those things in the woods. This here is a bed.” He tugs down a candlestick on the mantle, and the fireplace spins around to reveal a narrow, crusty bed. “I prefer to sleep on top. Perhaps you’d like to curl up beneath me?” Sirius knows he means beneath the bed itself, but he can’t help but snort at the question. Confused by his response, Remus waves a hand. “We can sort it later tonight. I know this all must be very overwhelming for you. But you’ll love the parade; I just know it! Every night the mayor selects a pumpkin king. It’s usually the wolf man, Greyback. And by usually, I mean always. But I think you stand a real chance of winning, terrifying as a you are.” “Why not you?” He shakes his skull vigorously and pops the bones of his fingers in and out of place. “Oh no—I could never… I don’t want that.” “What do you want?” “Oh, I don’t know…” He lets out an awfully weary sigh for someone without lungs. “Sometimes I find myself thinking ‘is this all there is?’ Lily says we all have our fears, and mine is the existential sort. I think probably I’m just rather ungrateful.” “You aren’t.” Sirius sets a hand on his shoulder, wishing there was more than bone to squeeze. “What if I told you there is something more out there?” “You mean,” he lowers his voice, “The Boogieman?” “No, Remus. Not The Boogieman. I mean another town. Another world.” He stares into his empty sockets as though he might find Remus’s big brown eyes in there somewhere. But Remus turns away. “We should get ready for the parade. Would you like some… erm… clothing?” He clears his throat. “I have a cloak that I think would suit you perfectly.” Before he can respond, Remus produces a cloak that appears to have been crafted of black mould and tenderly drapes it around his shoulders. “Truly ghastly,” he remarks, swinging Sirius towards the mirror. “Look!” Though he doesn’t think the cloak makes much of a difference, he can’t help but smile at the skeleton beaming over his shoulder. The demonic curve of his mouth and glint of his fangs does not do him any favours. “Thank you, Remus.”

with all these marauders from different countries headcanons, has no one thought about how weird christmas would be?

Arcana Twilight and Christmas themes:

Alpheratz: Santa role. He will be forced to dress up as Santa, drink milk and eat a cookie. Is surprisingly very good in a santa role, despite struggling against it.

Arcturus: Christmas cookies and socks and cozy warmth. He is the comfort os the holy eve.

Pollux: He is the Christmas movies. Even watched foreign christmas movies and learnt the translations by heart, just so his christmas movie needs are fullfilled. (I can make an entire post about how Pollux is smart and talented in the dumbest ways possible, I promise)

Sirius: Austrian Krampus

Spica: The presents because he is a gift to the world.

Vega: Christmas beverages. Despite him not even able to drink water regularly, he is the warm mugs. The romance of cold air reddening your face, but then willingly taking off your gloves for the miraculous warmth of a mug between your fingers. Watching the steam rise against the winter breeze, hearing a christmas song playing and taking the first sip. That is him.

Wednesday evening found the mrauders in their usual spot, sprawled across the Common Room furniture in front of the fire as Peter beat James at wizard’s chess and Remus read with Sirius atop him; the only thing breaking the peace was Sirius repeatedly looking up at his boyfriend as if to ask a question only to blush and look back down. 

After a half an hour of this, Remus had enough. “What’s up, Pads?”

Sirius blushed again and looked away. “Nothing.”

Remus rolled his eyes. “Just ask me whatever it is you want to ask me so I can read.”

That seemed to be all the invitation he needed; immediately, the black haired boy turned around so he was laying on his stomach with his head on Remus’ chest, jabbing the taller boy in the ribs in the process. “Lily told me there’s a muggle monster who eats naughty children at Christmas,” he said, and Remus was surprised to see a bit of fear in his boyfriend’s eyes. 

That was the only thing stopping a laugh. “She told you about Krampus?”

Sirius nodded. “She said if I kept pranking the Slytherins, he would eat me.”

Remus did laugh that time. “I can’t believe she told you that.” At Sirius’ betrayed look, Remus hurried to say, “He’s not real, Pads. Most British muggles don’t even believe in him.”

Sirius wasn’t convinced, apparently, because he said, “What if he is real? Plenty of muggles believe in dragons and unicorns.”

Remus shook his head. “He’s definitely not as bad as a dragon, Pads. I’m sure you can fight him off.”

He looked a bit less fearful at that and settled back down between Remus legs. 

Once Sirius was no longer facing him, he finally allowed himself to break down in laughter.

Universe 2,512: The North Pole

“Krampus?”

Krampus?

He whips around to find a man in a red coat leading a reindeer on a lead. At this point, he isn’t all that shocked to see Father Christmas, but he is surprised to recognise him. Standing before him with a big belly, shock of white hair, and round spectacles is Fleamont Potter.

At least, that’s what he thinks at first.

But then Father Christmas arches an amused brow and says, “Dare I ask what you’re doing up here?” and Sirius realises it isn’t Fleamont at all.

It’s James. James is Father Christmas. James is Father Christmas, and he’s the bloody Krampus. Just when he thinks he's seen it all. 

“What, I can’t come up for a visit?”

James lets out a hearty chuckle and turns to the reindeer. “What do you think, Prongs? Is he here for a visit, or is he plotting something?"

Prongs looks up at him and grunts.

“I thought so too,” James tells the reindeer, nodding solemnly. “Prongs says you’re here to cause trouble.”

“And if I am?” he asks.

“Have I ever stopped you before?"

Sirius grins, sharp fangs stabbing his lower lip.

Arcana Twilight as retail experiences I've had this christmas season:

Spica completely misunderstood the concept of a Krampus and thought a Krampus costume is a santa costume. It is not.

Vega is the drunk colleague, who takes a cabbage on a walk. Cried when he had to buy the cabbage.

Sirius baked a cake. No one took a bite. Then Spica brought a cake. It was gone within an hour.

Arcturus and Pollux have yet to stop singing christmas songs. Unlike retail experience tells, they sing good.

Alpheratz gave Spica a watermelon as a present. The watermelon had a ribbon glued to it. No store in the area sells watermelons during this time of year.

Arcturus made cookies. Heavenly, 10/10 would convince to get cookies again.

Pollux was born near christmas. No one ever forgot about his birthday, or tried combining it with christmas. Except one year, than everyone forgot. He did not get any presents that year.

Alpheratz went home early, thinking no one would notice. People noticed within five minutes. Tried again an hour later, succeeding that time.
