All the basic info copypasted from the website:
Practicalities
What: A Disco Elysium larp for around 100 players.
When: 18-22 & 25-29 September 2024 (1 day of workshops, 2 days of play)
Where: Old Military Hospital, Terezín (Czech Republic)
Cost: €290 €145
Produced by: Rolling & and international crew
Language: English
Location: Old military hospital, in the middle of the city. Indoors and outdoors environment. Location has basic amenities (toilets, water etc) but don’t expect high standard (no central heating).
Accessibility: Not wheel chair friendly (no elevators, stairs, thresholds). Very sensitive allergies or asthmatics may have problems with the environment.
Time: Players will be required to be in Terezín on Wednesday evening, for a full day of workshops, briefings, player meetings and co-creation. The game itself will start on Thursday afternoon and run until Saturday afternoon — with less intense or no play at all for night time sleeping (players choice).
Costumes & props: Key costume elements and key props will be provided. You bring a base layer, shoes, and any extra props you want. Costumes and props are mostly attainable by modern second-hand shopping.
Food & drink: Scheduled breakfast, lunch, and dinner (served in-game). We will provide water, tea, and vegetarian food, with the whole menu available beforehand, allowing people to bring food to address their allergies and special needs.
Design stuff
Potential content warnings: Racism, violence, physical larping, political extremism, loud noises, realistic firearms, drug use, oppression, suicide, actual work.
Design & play style: Immersive experience grounded in a poetic world. Expect some scripted stories in the form of fateplay and collaborative rather than competitive play. Individual character-specific plots. Not full transparency. Some non-diegetic meta-techniques.
Sign up process: Lottery system with certain conditions applied by organisers. Upon selection in the lottery, players pay the participation fee and receive full character and access to the participant website. Players will have option to signal they are uncomfortable playing with somebody or think somebody is not safe to be at the event.
Co-creation: Pre-written characters. Act structure with some specific limitations and/or mechanics; otherwise, players have the freedom to create. Players are not expected to prepare or create relations, have meetings, partake in events, etc., before the event. Lore is established by organisers, and players act within provided frames. There is an established overarching arc for the larp, with some set events. Artist characters will be creating art during the game.
Physical & emotional safety: Opt-out techniques & safety techniques. Some themes, mechanics or content of the larp are very general and not opt-outable (for example, “poverty”). Mechanics for violence and fighting that lean more towards simple conflict resolution than boffer fighting. Dedicated organisers on premises for safety, medical, and emotional support. Calibration and escalation/de-escalation techniques will be workshopped and encouraged.
What will we be doing: Playing out conflicts, romances, brawls, revealing secrets from the past, pursuing political goals, dealing with community problems. Creating art, music, weird performances, or just striving to have a normal, working family. The slice-of-life approach means that work is also part of the game. Most players will have 2-3 hours of some form of “work” to perform each day (not very physically taxing). Scheduled and spontaneous activities in the characters’ social groups (hobbies, families, politics, interest groups, etc.). Socialising, trading, scheming or just chilling and people-watching. There will be plenty of low-threshold activities on-site for everyone to be involved in if interested. Our aim is to create a living, breathing world. Everyone will be able to get 8 hours of sleep.

Please note that the families listed here were chosen purely by number of speakers, as those would be the most likely to be spoken. There are still MANY more language families not listed
Some of these have over a thousand languages so I cant list all of them, but I'll list a few languages from each family and the generam geography of it under the cut
Austronesian
Languages spoken mostly in Southeast Asian archipeligos including Indonesian, Malay, Javanese (NOT Japanese), and Tagalog, among others
Sino-Tibetian
Languages spoken mostly arround East and Southeast Asia along with some parts of Central Asia including Chinese (all dialects), Burmese, Tibetic languages, and Nepali, among others
Indo-European
Languages spoken mostly around Europe and South-Southwest Asia including English, all romance languages, Greek, Albanian, German, Hindi, Bengali, and Sanskrit, among others
Afro-Asiatic
Languages spoken mostly around Northern ans Northeaster Africa, and West Asia including Egyptian, Hebrew, Arabic, Amharic, and Hausa, among others
Fun fact! When counted as a single language, Arabic alone is spoken by over half of the native speakers of Afro-Asiatic languages
Atlantic-Congo
Languages spanning most of Africa exclusing Northern parts including Fula, Wolof, Swahilli, Kirundi, Luhya, Makua, Xhosa, and Shona languages, among others
Fun fact! This family has the most languages of any language family at 1,453 total!
Dravidian
Languages spoken mostly in souther India, along with surrounding countries, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Brahui, among others
Turkic
Languages spoken in many countries throughout (mostly central/centeal western) Asia and Eastern Europe including Turkish, Azerbaijani, Uzbek, Uyghur, and Kazakh, among others
Fun fact! While we mostly think of Turkic languahes being from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Proto-Turkic actually originates from East Asia around China and Mongolia! It's seldom spoken there anymore
Japonic
Languages spoken mostly in Japan (Note: NOT including the Ainu languages) including Japanese, Ryukyuan, and Hachijō, among others
Fun fact! Japanese was considered an isolate language (a language with no other languages in its family) until the Ryukyuan languages joined it in the Japonic family.
It also has the lowest number of languages of the ones listed, with 13 languages.
Should Koreanic have made it onto the list (It was JUST bekow Kra-Dai for # of speakers), that would be the lowest with only 2 languages!
Austroasiatic
Languages spoken mostly around South through East Asia Including Vietnamese, Khmer, Tagalog, among others
Fun fact! Two-thirds of people who speak an Austroasiatic language speak Vietnamese
Kra-Dai
Languages spoken mostly in Southeast Asia and Southern China including Thai, Lao, Bê, among others
#I spent an unreasonable amount of time on this#I KNOWWWW this poll is gonna be dominayed bt indo-european but

About half and half Batman and Guardian recs from last month (yeah, I don't know what my brain's up to lately either. They both...investigate crimes in weird fictional cities? I guess??). The Batfam fics are all gen, the Guardian fics are all Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan. Enjoy!
BATMAN
cards on the table by @wesslan
Tim's parents faked their deaths and fled the country years ago, but neglected to take him with them. He spent some time on the streets, and now at 16, he makes a living as a fortune teller, stalking and hustling the shit out of Gotham's elite by telling them eerily accurate fortunes based on the information he gathers about them. His life is peculiar but he wouldn't change a thing. When he gets booked for the big Wayne Halloween party, however, he finds himself getting all tangled up with the Waynes, and the more fortunes he tells, the tighter the snare becomes. or: Tim just wanted to scam Gotham's elite, not end up on the Batfamily's watchlist. But it seems they just won't leave him alone…
Completely delightful, except where it's heartbreaking. Oh, Tim.
when the man comes around by julodinae_sunsets / @pyrras
Alfred’s love is pressed shirts and warm food. And his love is a gleaming knife, too. He would bleed for his boys. He would make others bleed for them. And so he does. (Or: the Joker must die, and Alfred Pennyworth is not a man who waits on others to do his work.)
Sometimes a girl just wants to read about the Joker getting killed, you know? And Alfred's POV is so sharp and well-written in this.
nightcall by TheResurrectionist / @frownyalfred
Carter played the recording for a third time. Red Hood’s lips pursed. “I don’t know what the fuck Nightwing was talking about,” he said. “That’s not a Thai dialect. He’s always had the worst ear for Kra-Dai languages.” (or, the one where an enterprising GCPD member uses the batsignal to ask the local vigilantes for translation help, and the Batfamily knows WAY too many languages)
Ah, my darling weirdo nerds. ❤
GUARDIAN
Following the rhythm of indulgence and delight by naye
"Your messages were terribly inappropriate," Shen Wei tells him. "Oh?" Zhao Yunlan asks on a rapid breath. "Yes. You didn't say 'please'," Shen Wei admonishes. In his arms, Zhao Yunlan gives a full-body shudder of excitement.
Sweet, hot (with side of established kink play that I loved), and domestic.
Won't be waiting alone by velithya
"That was DCPD," Wang Zheng says. "A missing person matching our last ID has just been reported – from Dragon City University, a Professor Shen Wei."
I do love Shen Wei being vulnerable and hurt - which is hard to manage because he's such a OP badass - but this different-first-meeting AU nails it.
Support Network by Prosto_Dasha
Most Dixingren living in Dragon City know him as Lan-gege, the guy who one of the first welcomed them in this unfamiliar realm and helped them get their bearings. Zhao Yunlan is very careful about keeping his identities separate, but it's all useless when the Black Cloak Envoy appears just as he is trying to evacuate a newly-manifested Dixingren from under the SID's nose.
Charming AU with solid worldbuilding where Zhao Yunlun rebels against his father in an entirely different way - and runs smack into Shen Wei while he's at it.

Most commonly spoken language in each country
I had to separate the legend from the map because it would not have been legible otherwise. I am aware that the color distinctions are not always very clear, but there are only so many colors in the palette.
The legend is arranged in alphabetical order and languages are grouped by family (bullet points), with branches represented by numbers and followed by the color palette languages within them are colored in, as follows:

Malayo-Polynesian (Palauan) — bright brown
Western Malayo-Polynesian (from Malagasy to Tagalog) — light brown
Eastern Sudanic (Dinka) — foral white

since it's Holocaust remembrance day today, and a lot of locations mentioned in stories and articles are polish, i just wanna share some pronounciations for stuff:
it's not warsaw, it's Warszawa
it's not pronounced kra-cow, it's pronounced Kra-cov
what used to be auschwitz is now oświęcim.
one fifth of the polish pre-war population was killed over the course of world war 2, the majority of which were polish jews.
please at least have respect for our language and our cities.
#national holocaust remembrance day#holocaust remembrance day#jumblr#never again#shoah cw#cecil.txt#im just. idk. im annoyed seeing warsaw or lodzi or kracow.#it's our fucking land have the decency to call them by their actual names.

I love anime. Mai hentai dekh rha tha ak din aur room me papa ajaate hai. Mai turant laptop band krta hu because if he saw what I was watching, he would comment, “25 saal ke ghode ho rhe hai aur cartoon dekha krte hai.” Dekho, ab wo ghoda bula kar ke dehumanise krna is okay because I’ve been called worse, but his habit of adding 3–4 years to my actual age, that’s what I’m not getting used to. It’s what you call a guilt trip — the same as rich people going to wellness resorts and detox retreats, to find inner peace and nurture their spiritual selves! — on my guilt trip, I am made to re-evaluate all my life decisions. At times, starting with: why did I cry when the doctor slapped my butt?
But anyways, he walks into my room and asks me, “Ye jio ke recharge aur top-up mey difference kya hota hai?” With zero knowledge and full confidence, maine bola, “Same cheez hai”. So he’s like, “Ye Google Pay pe 100 rupay ke top-up pe 5 rupay ka cashback mil rha hai, karalo recharge.”
Maine kara liya. And tbhi recharge confirm krne ke liye check kara toh call nhi lagi. So papa asked me to sort this out with customer care. Teen-char baar call lagai customer care pe but nhi lgi. (Just to be clear: Doosre phone se call kri, same phone se nhi. Ab itna bhi confidence nhi hai apne pe.) Jab call nhi lgi, papa reasoned ki, “Ab toh sab so hi gae honge.” I’m like, “Per abhi toh sirf 8 hi baja hai, papa.” And he replies, “Not everybody is like you.” Then he goes on to say — “Dekho apne side se try toh krna banta hai na.” Phir wo bed pe baith gae and started doom-swiping through WhatsApp stories.
I don’t know if this happens with you guys but mere papa koi kaam krne ko bolenge aur ruk jaenge wahi. Phir mera sar na bhaari bhaari sa feel hone lagta hai. And uske baad mereko identity crisis hoti hai, ki mai inka beta hu ya kaam chor hu?
I called customer care again 3–4 times and gave up. Then he called them TWICE, gave up, and left my room.
So ye recharge raat ke 8 bje ke around kra tha, aur 8 bje se sone tak all he said was: “Mere saw rupay marr gae! Mere saw rupay marr gae!” The next day he asks me, “Uss recharge ka kya hua?” I said, “Apke panchanywey (95) rupay marr gae!”
Now after a week, I went to the site to complain. (Kyuki wo mere panchanywey rupay nhi the.) On that site, I get two options: chat or email. I chose chat. Submitted my trouble with the top-up recharge. Then the chatbot sends me these long-ass paragraphs explaining what a top-up is! And everything in it is so incomprehensible that I almost felt mentally harassed by a chatbot. In the end, it asks me: Did we resolve your issue? Options: RESOLVED UNRESOLVED. I clicked on UNRESOLVED. I thought something would happen. And it sends me: Thank you for your feedback. It will help us improve our services.

TMI/TSC OC (Cathan Morgenstern)
form adapted from this template!
BASIC
Name: Cathan [KUH-hahn] Morgenstern
Birthplace: Idris (Morgenstern Manor)
Birthday: Nov. 15, 1988 (19 in 2007)
Race: Nephilim (Idrisian of ½ German descent)
Gender: Cis Male
Sexuality: Pansexual
APPEARANCE
Overall: Cathan appears to be a tall (5'10") man in good shape for his age and height. He is lightly toned due to occasional exercise (dancing and sex more than training). His skin is pale since he’s usually inside his shaded hideaway or a club. His eyes are a light green, always lined in black or a metallic color. His wavy hair is typically level with his chin and is a copper color. His ears are pointed and pierced. Cathan loves to wear what would be considered clothes from the Romantic era: (open or sheer) shirts with flowing sleeves, low-waisted pants, things with ribbons…all in a nature-inspired palette.
FC: Cody Fern
BACKGROUND
Cathan is the “lost” Morgenstern child. He was born to Valentine and Jocelyn prematurely, so weak that hardly anyone thought he’d survive the night. His father had already promised his firstborn to the Seelie in exchange for magical secrets, so Valentine took the boy and gave him to the faerie messenger that night without regret. Jocelyn was told that her son had died and been sent to the Silent City. Meanwhile, Cathan was gifted to a couple Dáire [Daw-ruh] and Fiachra [Ph-yee-kra] by the Seelie Queen. Faerie have a hard time conceiving, so they were happy, especially since they’d received a present from their monarch. Though they loved him, Cathan was initially teased growing up, because everyone knew he was Nephilim. Being raised in the Faerieland gave him pointed ears and the ability to effortlessly wield fey magic. So, although he could use angelic runes, he never did. Instead, he learned to speak the way his new people did, and be beautiful and cruel all at once. The Queen, who occasionally checks on her “nephew”, praises him for his good looks and clever tongue. Sometimes she gives him pretty clothes, jewelry, and paints. He's a prince in every way but the one that matters.
(plot dependent) He learns about his siblings through his people’s gossip. Cathan isn’t sure if he wants to know them, but he does want to kill his Shadowhunter parents. At least, that’s his excuse for going to find them.
PERSONALITY
Overall: Cathan has learned to present himself as a faerie to most and conceal his true self for his lovers. This means that he is hedonistic (which his culture accepts), but he knows how to navigate conversations which typically involve as much small talk as they do veiled insults. He also is not above flirting to get what he wants. His biggest flaw is probably his feelings towards his “aunt”, the Seelie Queen. If, for example, someone insults one of his friends and/or entourage, he won’t acknowledge it in public. He might even laugh it off, because that’s what he’s learned to do, and then he’ll comfort the friend in private. In addition, if there’s a secret he learns, he’ll tell the Queen, because she’s shown him more love than even his parents have on some occasions. He gets exasperated by the whole act of being in public, though, and retreats to his hideaway to paint and relax with his lovers (he’s polyamorous, but he only has feelings for a select few). With them, he’s himself: compassionate, silly, delicate, submissive, and free.
Hobbies: partying, painting, having sex
Fear(s): losing someone he genuinely loves, either because they’re killed or because they choose to cut him out of their life
NEPHILIM TRAITS
Familial Symbol: (canonically) a band of stars, referring to the translation of the name Morgenstern, which means “morning star”
Weapon: knives
Languages: English, Faerie
FAVOURITES
Food: best described as fish resembling salmon
Drink: Faerie wine (newer the better)
Colour: black, though he says red
Season: summer
Scent: vanilla
Music: 90s pop (he’s been to mundane clubs)
Time of Day: sunset
Item: scarf gifted to him when he was twelve
Movie: Good Luck to You, Leo Grande or Moulin Rouge

Did you know that Lao shares similarities with Thai, making it almost intelligible to speakers of both languages. It also has over 80 minority languages spoken by various ethnic groups. As a former French colony, many Lao people also speak French to a certain extent.
The Lao language, the official tongue of Laos
The Lao language, also referred to as Laotian, serves as the official tongue of Lao. It is part of the Tai language group, a branch of the Kra-Dai language family, which also includes Thai, Shan, and languages spoken by smaller, related ethnic groups in Laos, Thailand, Burma, southern China, and northern Vietnam. The languages in the Tai family all share a common grammar and tone structure.
Because Lao is very similar to Thai, many Laotians can understand spoken Thai, and those who are literate can read Thai as well. Lao is known as Isan in the northeastern region of Thailand, and is also spoken by the majority of the Isan people there, who share the same ethnic roots as the Lao people.
It features a tonal system with six tones in the Vientiane dialect: low, mid, high, rising, high falling, and low falling. Similar to other tonal languages, the tone of a word determines its meaning, therefore speakers must speak clearly to avoid misinterpreting what they are trying to express.
Like many other tounges, Lao has its own alphabet, made up of 28 vowel sounds derived from a combination of 26 consonant symbols and 18 vowel symbols. The Lao alphabet has the same Brahmic base as Thai and Khmer, however, unlike Thai, Khmer is unintelligible to Lao. It is written from left to right.
Minority languages in Laos
Khmu language
With over 500,000 speakers, the Khmu ethnic group is the largest in Laos and is mainly concentrated in the northern provinces.
The Khmu language is defined by the influence of surrounding state dialects, the number of consonants, and the presence of a vocabulary range that is normally simple to comprehend but more difficult to transmit between geographically distant speakers.
The tongue is mainly used by Khmu people among each other only, as they speak Lao when interacting with people in Laos' lowlands, working with government representatives, or going to school.
Hmong language
Hmong is spoken by the Hmong people who live in the mountains of Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, and China. There are two primary groups in this community: White Hmong (or Hmong Daw) and Green/Blue Hmong (or Hmong Njua). Despite their proximity, Hmong Daw is the main language, and the Hmong writing system, which has eight or twelve consonants, corresponds to the Hmong Daw dialect.
The primary distinctions between these two languages are in vocabulary, pronunciation, word structure, and grammar. However, over time, the two dialects have experienced various changes to increase mutual intelligibility. It's worth noting that most Hmong also speak Lao.

Lavurius: (In year 0, humans have existed for 3,000 years before Instruments of Life emerged to guide humans into a better humanity than theirs. Making it Year 11527 for truths & honor purposes. In Year 3333, was when the Phenomenon began. In the same year, surviving family members of those that were slain for the greater good; created Lavurius the Coven. Dead set on finding a way to stop unexplainable deaths of everyone born in a specific year, made their power insatiable. But they would be shooting in the dark for a long time. A highly long time because the amount of power they were using would take eons of development to equate to the Instruments. With that day finally being here, will they finally uncover the truth behind yearly genocides? With them all being immortal, their main motive in life is super natural justice. The group consists of twins where three of them are the younger or older of their pairing. Being born before the new year or of the next new year spared them. Witnessing their twin die, was clear motivation to help the strongest league against the phenomenon. These six are known as Reign Doubly. Naja is the mage of this unit; all in all, there are more mages than other members but in their case…) Vakyat of Zimbabwe Naja of Thailand Umyrog of Greece Othezul of Chile Zeaux of New Zealand Kraed of Canada / They all met in college, attending Crediteria University over in Scotland…
Instruments of Life: (In year 11527, the original humanoid time frame; they are some of the surviving 11,000,000 humans. About forty percent of the world is covered with blackened goo & that’s no good for any carbon based life form. There are more than enough scientific leagues; trying to reverse the atrocities of humanity leading them to a deadopia. They are all from different corners of the world but all have the same mindset; the Golden Rule. How it’s nowhere to be found, will magically unite these six; making a savior group. They were are all connected to the six most powerful scientific leagues. The secrets they know will have them creating perfect immortality with a god complex of rebirthing the world. They will go to the Big Bang, they will sleep off eons of time; waiting for humans to evolve, to guide them to the ultimate light. Without ever showing themselves, they will eventually come up with a method of peace by killing off prideful humans. The deadliest emotion of them all… They will perfect humanity by ensuring no one creates any lore around a tyranny based society. This will guide humans away from their negative nature of do all harm in the name of one person, fear &/or self preservation. Guiding humans with love has marginally made the rebirth world; more advanced than the real world. Advanced intellectually, emotionally, architectually, scientifically & the most important; lovely. They don’t have statues, they don’t have no monuments; but all humans know, they exist as the thing that kills off humans born from a certain year. No matter the day & age, no matter how old they physically are; you will get the axe if your amount of pride is futile. Renkler (Serial Killer & FBI Agent) of USA Khalloz (Marines Weapons General) of Germany Gardulz (Hypnotist & Entertainer) of Italy Tornado (Experimentalist & Erowologist) of New Zealand Amikka (Erowologist & Data Analyst) of Brazil Nejisam (Sociolist & Endologist) of Morocco
