This is one of my absolute favorite g.o.d songs. I'm not alone in this as there was a study done in 2006 and The Road was ranked 59th out of 100 favorite songs by S. Koreans 13 or older. But oh my gosh, this song is incredible. Please, please take a listen to this.

Written and composed by JY Park (or JYPapi as I call him to differentiate him from his company because I'd rather call him that than call the company JYPE) and arranged by hitman Bang, this song is a legit masterpiece. And I wish I could say I was exaggerating. It's simple. It's poignant. It's honest.

"Why am I standing on this road Is this path really destined for me Would my dreams come true at the end of this road"

Like, there are few first gen groups I love more than g.o.d and even fewer first gen songs that I love more than this one, but don't let my obvious bias dissuade you from listening because of the fact that this song won three daesangs back in the day and seven first place wins on music shows. I cannot stress it enough that this is an amazing song.

Ballad? Yes. But it's a ballad with almost a hip-hop beat (definitely R&B though) underneath an orchestra, which includes a harp. This is emotional storytelling at its finest, offering comfort that we the listener are not alone in our uncertainty and desperation to know if we're making the right choices, or on the right road.

2014 → 2000 - Chapter 1/?

This is one of many archived fanfics featuring 1st and 2nd generation K-pop acts that I've come across recently. It's all in good fun, and maybe a bit cringeworthy! Just to clarify, I don't post fanfics, so I hope to the people that post and read K-pop fanfics makes sense. This work is suitable for all audiences and draws inspiration from the fandoms of g.o.d and MBLAQ.

The story is enriched with themes of Time Travel and Post-Hiatus.

Summary:

Mir was and still is a big g.o.d fan. One day, after saving a child from getting hit by a car, he somehow ended up in 2000 when g.o.d were still active. He tries not to mess with time but couldn't help but to think that he can prevent their hiatus from happening.

Notes:

Set in 2014, when MBLAQ was still five members and before g.o.d reunited.

Chapter 1 - Wish for change: After saving a child, Mir ends up in g.o.d's dorm in 2000.

Mir still remembers the day that MBLAQ filmed with g.o.d on Idol Manager. It was two years ago and he only saw Hoyoung and Taewoo. Even so, it was one of the best days of his life. Since that day, he still wishes that g.o.d are still active. One day, while going shopping, he saw a crying child in the middle of the street. 

"That's dangerous for a kid to be there!"

He saw there was a car coming towards the child and went in and protected them. When he opened his eyes, he sees that he's on the edge of the street. 

"That's funny. I didn't even move."

The child was also gone. But that's not the only thing he noticed. The street was completely different too. The cars, the building, everything.

"What...?"

He walks around until he sees a little shop and sees the calendar. It says 2000!

"2000?! Then... I'm in the past?!"

Mir couldn't believe it. He tried to find ways to go back to 2014 but had no luck. As he was crossing the road, the light changed quickly and there was a van coming towards him. 

"This is it!"

The van stopped right in front of him and he fainted.

"Hello? Are you okay?"

He hears a familiar voice but couldn't point out who it was.

When Mir woke up, he sees a ceiling. 

"Is this the hospital?"

"He's awake! Quick, get the others!"

"Huh?"

"Are you okay? You fainted when we almost ran over you."

"Uh..."

Mir couldn't believe it. He was looking at a younger version of Kim Taewoo of g.o.d.

"Thank goodness." said Kyesang.

He sees the rest of g.o.d but they are younger than he remembers.

"W... where am I?"

"You're in our dorm."

"Your... dorm?"

(As in when they were still together?)

"We haven't introduced ourselves. I'm Park Joonhyung."

"Danny Ahn."

"Yun Kyesang."

"I'm Son Hoyoung."

"Kim Taewoo. Nice to meet you."

"Yeah, sure. I'm..."

Mir was hesitant about which name to use. Then he decides to go with his stage name since his soon-to-be brother-in-law is still their manager.

"I'm Bang Mireu."

"Mireu. That's a nice name."

"Thank you."

"So what were doing that there?" asked Danny?

"I... don't know."

"Danny. Let's not question it. Maybe he has amnesia?" said Joon.

"Well, Mireu. We can show you around. Maybe it will jog your memories?" said Hoyoung.

"Y... yeah, sure."

How did this happen? Of course, Mir was lucky that the people who found him are the past versions of his idols but can he keep a secret that he's from the future when they are inactive?

Chapter 2 - How to get back: Mir tries to figure out ways to go back to 2014. While doing that, he was met with a surprise.

g.o.d nursed Mir for the next few days and he even watched them take care of Jaemin. He was so impressed as he only saw him in DVDs.

"Wow."

"Mireu-sshi. Would you like to hold him?"

"Uh... I don't know. I'm not that good with babies." He says that despite being on a babysitting program himself in 2012.

"That's okay. Taewoo's not good with him either." said Kyesang, mockingly.

"HEY! I can hear that!"

"You were supposed to."

Mir couldn't help but laugh at that situation. He never seen his idols so happy together.

"I wish they were like this in the future."

"What did you say?" asked Danny.

"Oh... nothing. Just talking to myself."

"Okay. Our manager called so we have to go."

"Actually, I would like to talk to him." their manager, Dongwon, came into the room.

"To me?" 

"Yes."

What does that mean? He's Mir's brother-in-law but he doesn't marry his eldest sister in a few months. When they went to Dongwon's office, he started to talk.

"You're from the future, aren't you?"

"How?!"

"Did I know that? Sorry to do this but I secretly went though your wallet for your ID card. It said 'acclaimed in 2014'."

Mir started to sweat.

"Don't worry. g.o.d doesn't know about this. And your real name is Bang Cheolyong, isn't it?"

"Yes. And based on the name, I guess you know who I am."

"You're my fiance's brother, aren't you?"

"Also yes."

"So, you're from 2014?"

"Yes and I probably shouldn't say what g.o.d's doing then."

"That seems fair. We wouldn't like to mess with time continuation."

They agreed to that and talked about how to get Mir back to 2014.

"What happened when you came here?"

"I was saving a child from getting run over by a car."

"And the child disappeared?"

"I didn't know what happened after that. After I found myself at the edge of the street, I saw a calander and it said 2000."

"Was there something else?"

"It was raining."

"It was also raining when we found you. Maybe it's the rain that causes you to time slip."

"Maybe. When is the next rainfall?"

"In about... um... two days?"

"Perfect! But that means this will be a lot difficult for me."

"I guess so. But as long as g.o.d doesn't know about this, I think we're good."

"Okay. So get ready for the next rainfall."

Two days passed and rain fell as the forecast said. Mir started to disappear in front for Dongwon's eyes and he was back in his room in 2014. So the hypothesis was right. It's the rain that causes him to travel back in time but why? And is there a connection other than the rain?
