Eric Nash's "Night Drawings."

Currently on view at KP Projects in Los Angeles, California until April 15th, 2023 is artist Eric Nash's must see solo exhibition, "Night Drawings."

Nash's artwork encapsulates the essence of everyday encounters in Los Angeles, transforming quintessential and quirky city landmarks into cinematic sets reminiscent of film noir. In his current exhibition, "Night Drawings," Nash utilizes charcoal to create meticulous monochromatic scenes that exude a dreamlike quality of seductive angst. The dense tonal range of charcoal lends a sense of hyper-realism to his work, akin to photographic stills, while the moody oeuvres convey mystery and suspense associated with California and the Wild West.

Nash's "Night Drawings" capture the essence of Los Angeles illuminated in monochrome night-time hues, with each quiet composition portraying frozen moments inspired by the artist's own photographs. Initially unimpressed by LA, Nash found the metropolis transformed into a vast, mysterious, and vibrant place at night. The city's rich cultural history of noir films makes it well-suited for black and white portrayal, emphasizing the contrasts and extremes that characterize Los Angeles. The deep, velvety texture of ancient charcoal perfectly captures these nocturnal moments throughout LA and Palm Springs in Nash's "Night Drawings."

Samantha Harrison’s work focuses inward, toward the self, capturing in painted, drawn, and embroidered on textiles, the multifaceted thoughts that run compulsively through the mind. The work is a process of excavation and exorcism, observation and catharsis, from which new skin can grow. Introspective, self-deprecating, rebellious, and self-aware, each medium, including a new series of videos being shown for the first time, echoes the duality of the artist’s discourse with desire, worth, love and forgiveness.

and all attempts to claw him out are seen, depending on the circumstances, as either help (that shouldn't be trusted) or responsibility for his mistakes (that shouldn't be taken by others)
