The Euro songs that we lost, part 1.
I have fully embraced the eurovision takeover on this blog, much to the dismay of the people who follow this silly little blog that I started to blog about kdramas and post my Icelandic reviews of dramas and tv shows in English many years ago.
Eurovision rehearsals are on their way now, day two is upon us, and I need distractions while I wait for pics and such. And with the first semi only about 9 days away it’s almost time to say goodbye to the class of 2021... even if a whole lot of us have already done so as the class of 2022 was formed during the national finals season. But for many Eurovision doesn't start until may 10th when the first semi final airs.
I know this is very late in the season to look back over the eurovision songs that we sadly missed on getting to the big stage in Turin because they were not selected by some odd reason to represent their country at eurovision.
One of the things that happens when you start watching these Eurovision national finals is that not only do you get a lot of new songs for your playlist. These will never get on any official Eurovision list, but they will forever live in my eurovision loving heart.
This year I watched a record number of Eurovision national finals, like the Spanish one, the Norwegian, Swedish and the Italian, the Finnish, Danish and the Ukrainian one, San Marino and I did keep an eye on the France nf and the Australian one and some of other ones. New and new songs just keep popping up during the national finals months and it's hard to watch them all.

The first national final song that totally made their way into my heart was this absolute romp of a song in the Norwegian selection about a dancing pink flamingo... and this is totally the sort of odd eurovision lunacy that I expect from Eurovision that I grew up on in the noughties.

the only other national final song that I enjoyed from Norway that didn't make it to the actual eurovision (because yes, I enjoy Subwoolfer) was this 80s inspired bop. Norway had a bit of a weak selection this year for me.

another sort of 80s inspired song that found it's way to my heart almost immediately was the lovely Varry Brava with their song Raffaella. As a Fyr og Flamme (the Danish duo that got robbed of their spot in the final last year) stan there truly was no way for me to not completely love everything about it. 30 sec into this song and I was already in love.

Is Rayden the Spanish Francesco Gabbani? except he raps? or is it just a similar vibe that I get from both of them. Anyways, I adore the vibes of this man. This is very much the sort of folky stuff that I enjoy at Eurovision, it has this sort of Koza Mostra energy (they competed for Greece in 2013) and I adore it. It has this sort of gentle pirates coming to shore to serenate you sort of feel to it, which I like. It’s very much working for me.

Me and like 70% of the Spanish public wanted these lovely, Galician witches to get to eurovision (Let's not take this the way that I don't like Chanel... I adore Chanel and SloMo) because everything about this is *chefs kiss* and totally something that the eurovision stage needs. If they don't come back to Benidormfest (or spain doesn't internally select them) in the next years I will become very sad. This was a love at first listen. There is nothing about this that I don’t utterly love.
#eurovision#this was suppose to be one big post#but tumblr said noooo to that#I can't put in any more videos in this post#so I have no do another one
