6, 26 and 46 from the fifty (more) rook qs if you’re doing them!
6) Describe Rook through the eyes of their LI(s).
Lucanis, on Rio: “They are utterly baffling. I thought perhaps it was the fact I had such different experiences from any normal person, but I have seen more of the world beyond the Crows now, and I can confirm: Rio is an oddity of the first water, and not only because of their kindness and optimism.” Davrin, on Candy: “Crystallized ginger. Sweet at first, draws you in, and then you bite down, and it’s like an explosion in your mouth. Then, once you get used to it, it’s sweet again, in a different way. That’s the kind of Candy she is. She and Assan have given me a new taste for ginger; I’ll tell you that.” Neve on Korbl: “I swear, something about growing up in the Necropolis makes people have the most endearing weirdnesses. Emmrich’s whole self aside, Korbl has this quietude about him that combines very strangely with a lot of other parts of his personality. I barely heard him speak at all for the first few days in the Lighthouse, and then the first time I spoke with him one-on-one, he flirted with me so eloquently that I almost didn’t have an answer. Almost. He leaves notes around that he pretends aloud aren’t for anyone in particular, but he knows the wisps will bring them to me. He makes it a game, almost. Something he knows I can't resist putting my mind to." Emmrich on Irri: “A man of deep conviction and some contradiction. Delightfully charming, of course. At first, he reminded me of Manfred -- always curious, always eager and friendly. It was only after I first saw him confront Antaam that I understood how he has had to struggle for his happiness and curiosity. On a lighter note, it vexed me slightly at first how far I had to look up to make eye contact with him, even in polite conversation. Now I am, shall we say, much more appreciative of his size." Taash on Whit: "Tough. Hot. Helped me with, you know, gender stuff. Helped me with a lot of stuff. Honest. Smart too. Can't say I'm too interested in the blight, but they know as much about it as I know about dragons. And they make this cute little noise when I push 'em against a wall." Bellara on Kyr: "Well, I mean, first time I saw her, in that Veil bubble, I thought, well, wow. She was doing this thing, where she tosses her hair out of her face after a fight, and then she asked me if I was Bellara -- obviously I am -- and she smiled and said that my knight in mage armor had arrived. I think I laughed. I hope I did. She's made me laugh a lot since then. Made me blush a lot too."
26) What does Rook tell Emmrich, when he asks them about funerary rite preferences?
Rio grew up in a pirate town. Sea burial's always been ideal for them -- it'll be peaceful down there, and the fish will have somewhere to nest. Candy has been surrounded by death since childhood. She thinks the Necropolis might surround her with a...more peaceful sort of death. Korbl says Necropolis. Obviously. Irri gets curious about the Necropolis. He likes what he's seen of the place so far. Whit has genuine reasons to want to be cremated. Keeping the taint in their body from touching anyone else after they die, for example. But that's generally a lesser chance than just dying on the Calling eventually. Kyr does say cremation. She's Tevinter, and she's an evoker. She's had plenty of fire around since she was a child. Having fire sweep around her to carry her away after she's gone...it feels right.
46) What does Rook think of being the leader of the Veilguard?
Thankfully, the duty's more even between the six of them. More a council than a single leader. They're all of the opinion that "thank FUCK I don't have to do this on my own; can you IMAGINE how badly we'd be fucked if it were just me"
