A very special love
Im special for who i am, for what i have, and i what i like. I'm loving myself without getting beyond it and not compromising the love given by others just to fulfill what i lack. Not every person can do that. Im proud that i can that is why i love myself.

Challenge Update Week 1
So, as some of you might’ve seen I’m doing @notglot‘s Summer Language Challenge for 8 weeks (but I’ve turned it just into the winter term 3 challenge because it’s winter and I’m working lmao) and I’m trying to learn Norwegian. I’m updating every Sunday on how I’m going!
I’ve tried a whole lot of websites etc to figure out which is going to work best for me, especially considering I’m an absolute beginner. I’ve stuck to duolingo and memrise for the most part. Others I’ve checked out are lingvist, lingq, and clozemaster. I’ve also used this Norwegian on the Web resource and the pdf from this post by @koreanbreeze. I only discovered koreanbreeze’s post yesterday but I think I’ll be using that pdf a lot as this goes on, it’s very handy.
Duolingo Norwegian Course
Level: 6
Skills completed: Basics, Basics 2, Phrases, Food, Animals, Definites, Obj. Pron., Plurals, Def. Plur., V: Present (First checkpoint passed!!)
Streak (20 XP per day goal): 10 days
Memrise Norwegian 1
Levels completed: 2 (Launchpad, I come in peace)
Words learnt (words in LTM): 49 (12)
Streak (5 min per day goal):7 days
Norwegian on the Web
I used the audio files to learn the pronunciation of the letters of the alphabet, and used the pronunciation guide to write my own pronunciation page in my notebook. Read through all of chapter 1 in the course material and grammar book.
In my notebook
I’ve written notes on pronunciation, pronouns, articles, numbers 1 - 1 000 000 000 & wrote out vocab from the first three duolingo topics (I’ve got to catch up whoops) (See pics of my notebook here)
Writing
Last but not least, every week I want to try and actually write something in Norwegian using what I’ve learned. So here goes! (If anyone spots any mistakes, please don’t hesitate to let me know!)
Hei! Jeg heter Belinda. Jeg er tjuefem år gammel. Jeg kommer fra Australia. Jeg snakker engelsk og tysk og litt norsk. Jeg har en katt. Hun heter Tori og er to år gammel. Katten er en jente. Jeg liker henne. Jeg liker å lese og å le og å sova. Jeg har en te. Jeg liker ander. Jeg er en lærer. Lærere liker bøker.

My Language Journey
Thank you @languagethelife & @langblog for tagging me ^^
RULES: Reblog, tag ten others and share your answers with everyone!
1. What language/s are/have you studied?
I’m currently studying Spanish, Mandarin & Korean but in the past I’ve also used to learn German & French. Sadly, I don’t remember anything now.
2. How long have you been studying?
I’ve been learning Spanish for five years now, although, quite frankly, I’ve only started to take it seriously two years ago. And I’ve been studying both Mandarin and Korean for more-less a year.
3. Did you learn through class or self-study (or both)?
I guess even attending language classes requires a lot of self-study if you want to improve. I’m learning Spanish as a mandatory third language class in school.
When it comes to Korean, I’m self-studying but I’ve recently found a free Korean course by a local university which is open to all people interested, not only uni students so I might join if I have enough time!
And I took extra Mandarin classes that I really enjoyed and am planning to continue once the summer holidays end
4. Why did you decide to learn this language?
My journey with Spanish didn’t really start because I wanted to learn it. I took it up only because all my friends did so and I wanted to be in the same class as they. Only later did I grow fond of the language.
Once I’ve discovered Korean movies and then music there was nothing else to do but start learning the language. It sounded so cool and pretty!
Last summer I’ve started reading about Chinese history and culture and that’s how I got into the language. I’ve decided to sign up for the extra classes and that’s how it started.
5. What was a major highlight / milestone in studying this language?
This year I had two major milestones in Spanish. I’ve managed to read the first Harry Potter book. Maybe I used dictionary all the time but I’m still proud of myself. Moreover, I’ve recently made foreign friends and we talk just in Spanish, which is really great!
A few months ago I had an online conversation, all in Korean. Just like with reading in Spanish, I used dictionary but it really made me so motivated to learn.
And only yesterday I’ve received my HSK2 exam results. I’ve scored 98.5%! I know that HSK2 is really easy but I still consider it a milestone.
6.What was the hardest thing about studying this language?
In Spanish it’s definitely all the tenses. And don’t even get me started on subjuntivo.
I’m still such a beginner in Korean (I’ve been learning it for a year but since it’s only self study I often don’t have enough time to study properly) that all of the grammar simply overwhelms me.
In Mandarin it was and still is my biggest difficulty: the tones. I practice them but somehow my pronunciation still sucks. Hopefully, if I work hard then one day I’ll get them right.
7. What resources did you find most useful for studying this language?
The textbook I’m using in my Spanish class is really good. It’s called Aula. And I don’t know what I’d do without SpanishDict (the app works offline and is free!)
Talk To Me in Korean is my major resource when it comes to learning Korean so I highly recommend it to anyone interested in studying this language!
There are two resources that help me so much with Chinese: one is called Pleco and just like SpanishDict is a free offline dictionary. It shows you sample sentences and the stroke order as well. And when it comes to grammar, Chinese Grammar Wiki is a great website.
8. Any top tips for studying this language?
I’m gonna be a bit general here but: immerse yourself. TV shows, movies, music - they can really help!
9. What’s your next major language goal?
Spanish: read more, maybe try to watch a Spanish TV show/movie without subtitles
Korean: undestand more of the songs and k-dramas I watch, have an online conversation with a native speaker
Chinese: once I master the tones I want to have a simple conversation with a native speaker
10. Anything we can do in the Tumblr community to get you there?
If you have any tips on how to master Chinese tones or resources to recommend, I’ll be really grateful!
I tag: @bonbonlanguage @studymission @meitianzhongwen @woaihanyu @languagesandfrens @sekaistudies @myworldoflanguages @ffe072 @eselsbruecke @koreanbreeze
