Note: For this list, I decided not to add a symbol for shows that center queerness, because in a way all of these shows do that and at the same time almost none actually do. Queer characters and their love stories are featured in every show in this list, but most of them do not address any other queer aspects of their lives and only some address the fact that they are queer at all. This is not a critique of South Korean shows, but just an observation of their current media landscape and added as context, in case you are interested in watching.

LGBTQ CONTENT ALERT
Support the folks who make the content we crave
Producer of QL and BL content, Korea's Strongberry is small but scrappy and brought the world a lot more content than you might expect. The CEO had a live session a little while ago, and it was reposted with English subtitles yesterday. Among the takeaways: they have a lot more interest from actors than they used to. Also, some of the content they have distributed was produced by others but needed a distribution outlet, so they are clearly a part of the ecosystem that might not otherwise exist.
It's nice and short, and he says there will be a live session with the actors during March (date TBD). Watch this and drive up the stats! Make their investors realize they have a great audience! 😀
Above all, check out their other content on Gagaoolala and YouTube.

My top ten bl dramas (with kissing scenes but no sex scenes)
Not in any particular order.
Sometimes I want a romance but I don’t need the sex scenes. Sometimes I just like the kissing and the plot. So here are my top ten.
- 2G ether. Season 1&2.
A adorable fake dating story with entertaining side couples and a well written plot. It is an easy watch with a comedic story line. Any problems in season 1 and any questions left unanswered are covered in season 2. The main couple have great chemistry and the side couples seem to match it well.
It is one of my favourites because it is such a chill drama to watch and rewatch. It is one I tend to go for when I’m tired or needing serotonin.
Available with English subtitles on YouTube.
Tumblr media
- Minato Shouji coin laundry. Season 1.
A romantic comedy with a strangers to lovers trope. The plot revolves around a 17 yr old in love with a 27 yr old man. That put me off at first but the age gap is really well covered. The whole plot revolves around the age gap and how it affects them. It is both light hearted while dealing with the honest dynamic of their relationship. Both characters go through a wholesome journey of development, with Shin growing more mature and Akira learning to let himself be loved.
There is hints of a side couple but those characters go through development rather than have their relationship end romantically, which I really enjoyed.
The dialogue is very well written and the actors have really good chemistry together. Despite the age gap, it became one of my favourites in a very short amount of time. It is all so well done and they handled the dynamic wonderfully.
Though I did not like season 2 cause the writing was terrible. Still acted well but bad plot writing.
Available on Bilibili or dramacool.
Tumblr media
- We Best Love, N1 for you & Fighting Mr second.
Ignoring the two different titles, this is season 1 and 2 of the same drama.
It is a enemies to lover dynamic in season 1 with a enemies to lovers dynamic once again in season 2.
While the plot is overly dramatic at times and cliche, it is very well acted and the actors really work with their lines and make the cliche parts fit so well. They have amazing chemistry (especially in season 2) and I love their dynamics. The side couples don’t get much screen time but they fit very well with the plot and the dynamics of the main characters.
When it comes to pure chemistry, this couple is one of my all time favourites. They speak so much with their actions. It’s a drama that will entertain throughout. I didn’t get bored at all.
Available on Bilibili and Dramacool.
Tumblr media
- Semantic Error.
Another Enemies to lovers trope between two opposing characters. Opposites attract between a digital media student and a computing student. The plot is well paced and the actors spark off each other very well. The character development is explored well and the filming style adds such a tension and uniqueness to the scenes. One of the reasons why it is a favourite is how the filming style works with the characters and highlights their personalities. Everything just flows.
There are no side couples in this drama however the side characters are well portrayed and fully dimensional. I enjoyed how each character’s dynamics worked with those around them.
Available on Viki or Bilibili.
Tumblr media
- Sotus The series.
A real slow burn between a new student and his head hazer. Although the hazing put me off at first the show went to explain all viewpoints really well. It explained why the Hazers continued the tradition of hazing as well as the students who were experiencing it. The relationship is a real slow burn but it’s done so well and scenes had me laughing and crying.
It includes other lgbt side characters and a straight side couple who are cute and go through their own personal growth.
An old bl (2016) but a good one. It was one of my first ones and I will never get over it.
Available on KissKH, Bilibili and YouTube.
Tumblr media
- Takara’s Treasure.
A more recently released drama, this show was so wholesome and cute. It dealt with a character’s journey as he joins a university in Tokyo after living in a small town his whole life. His slow burn relationship with his senior is very cute and green flag.
I sort of wish that there were more kiss scenes but I did enjoy the ones we go.
Available on KissKH and Bilibili.
Tumblr media
- Love for Love’s sake.
Another more recent drama. This one had me sobbing and giggling. For what seemed to be an intriguing plot about a boy seemingly playing out a video game where the goal is to make another boy happy turned into a really deep portrayal of depression and the loneliness of being lgbt. The romance and the relationships as they develop in this drama was all well paced and wholesome. The main character is iconic and he fights for what he wants which is great to watch. The drama itself was very well filmed. The cinematography didn’t distract too much from the plot but also made itself known and memorable. The pace was good though it could have done with maybe another episode towards the end, but with the time they had the pacing was pretty good.
This drama leads itself towards theory and not all the questions are answered but that is a good thing as an ending is provided but there is still enough to make one curious.
Available on Viki and KissKH.
Tumblr media
- Why R U? (Korean version).
While I enjoyed the original Thai version, the Korean version out paced it for me. While the Thai one had many side couples and confusing plot lines the Korean one keeps it just to two main couples. It deletes the cheating element of the second couple and made it more wholesome rather than dramatic. The first couple actually starts as enemies to lovers and their dynamic is very funny. They fight all the time and swear at each other before slowly starting to admire and appreciate each other before falling for each other. The show was well paced and very lighthearted. The cinematography wasn’t bad but could have been more fun.
Though it’s from the same books as the Thai one, it feel almost like a completely different drama. This one had me laughing much more.
Available on KissKH and Bilibili.
Tumblr media
- Stay With Me.
This is a Chinese drama based off a pervious BL drama called Addicted Heroin. Compared to the previous adaptation, the toxicity is taken out. Stay with me is mostly found family vibes between two step brothers, who don’t know that they’re stepbrothers for a long time, and how their relationship develops from friends to family. Whether this be family in a romantic sense between them or not, the show leaves that up to the viewer.
For a Chinese bl we do get kisses on the cheeks! Although I would like them to kiss properly. The show focuses on them growing as people and not just their relationship, which I enjoyed.
However, the show does end on a sob inducing cliffhanger and there has been no news about a season 2 yet. So watch at your peril. The show itself was well paced and very well acted.
Available on Viki and KissKH.
Tumblr media
- Unintentional Love story.
This drama is of a young man who was wrongly fired from his job finding a reclusive ceramicist. He is told that if he can get the famous artist to sign with his old company, then he will get his job back. What follows is a slow burn romance with misunderstandings and great character development. Since the characters are all adults in their late twenties to early thirties, the show has a different feel compared to a lot of other shows where the characters are teenagers or young adults. These characters are running businesses and having to deal with issues such as money problems and loans. It’s nice to see such realistic things playing a big part in a character’s motivation. Yet they still have moments fuelled by their feelings and impulses. But they grow and learn and that’s what makes this drama really wholesome and lovely to watch.
The side couple in this is left unresolved but with a hopeful note. However there is a history between them that is not fully explained. There has been a movie based on their backstory that has come out recently, yet I do not know if it resolves their relationship in the show.
One of the things I love in this show is the costumes. As the sunshine character takes on more depth and grows as a person, his clothing colour palette gets darker. While for the grumpy character who learns to open himself up again, his palette gets lighter and by the end of the show their outfits have swapped colours. That is a detail which I loved when watching.
Available on Viki or Bilibili.
Tumblr media
Here you go. These are my top ten dramas with no sex scenes. While some of them may have making out scenes that fade to black, they are not explicit and the drama plots focus more on the storylines or the character growth.
So for anyone who doesn’t like watching sex scenes, I recommend the dramas above.
Hope you enjoy.
Feel free to ask about anymore in the comments.

Love in the Big City Eps 5 & 6: That Apartment Was Too Small
Tumblr media
I’m late this week to write this post. Despite everything going on in the world and in my life, I have struggled with how similar episodes 5 and 6 played like Part 3 of the book. When I read over my reaction post for Part 3, I felt like I could post it with a few edits as a reaction to these two episodes. I’ve also read so many great posts about this section, so I’ll throw some quick thoughts down on some of the things that stood out in this section.
The T-aras Continue to Be a Great Change
Tumblr media
Presenting the drama in a more linear format required baton passes between the sections that the book didn’t require, and I really loved having the T-aras as pallbearers who also took care of Yeong when he wanted to go out the night of his mom’s funeral. I love how they also feel like they’ve matured as they’ve gotten older.
Tumblr media
Making us love the T-aras so much makes their flippancy about being around someone they know, or suspect, is positive hit like a ton of bricks in the flashback. What’s so sad about this is it puts this wall up inside of Yeong that keeps him from ever telling them about his situation with Kylie. We know the T-aras love him dearly, and I think they would have adapted quickly to take care of their friend. I couldn’t help but think about the hospital scene from Part 2 and wonder how uncertainties Yeong felt about them complicated that moment for him.
Tumblr media
I also love that they’re the ones who got to meet and approve of Gyu-ho, and that they suggested Yeong take him on a trip to help rekindle the romance. Yeong not being completely alone has been one of my favorite changes, because few of us are ever as alone as we think we are.
Gyu-ho Feels so Alive
Tumblr media
We see so much of Gyu-ho from Young’s perspective in the book, and I loved seeing him come alive and share space with Yeong in the drama. I loved seeing the mundanity of their relationship. I loved seeing Yeong consolidate and clean up the room to make it livable for Gyu-ho just as much as I loved seeing them struggle with their living habits. I loved seeing them fight over little things, and then seeing Gyu-ho adapt to that and cover annoyances (especially with the water bottles).
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Kylie ruins so much of Yeong’s ability to commit to this relationship, and I think it’s why staying in Mi Ae’s apartment might be one of my favorite choices of the drama. When we read Part 3, I kept thinking about how small Young’s apartment was, and how it didn’t seem right for the two of them to stay there. Here in the drama, we see that Yeong’s mom made sure to take care of her affairs, and I wondered at how much Yeong had stashed away from that, but also figured he wouldn’t want to stay in the home his mom had.
Tumblr media
I think, for Yeong, Gyu-ho is just so radiant and beautiful a person that Yeong is worried he’ll infect with HIV and make “dirty.” He brings that word up a lot, and it made me so, so sad. Kylie is everywhere in their relationship. It’s in Yeong’s need to fake a blood test to get a decent job he hates. It’s in his inability to pursue work opportunities in other countries. It’s in their inability to have unprotected sex without worries. All of this culminates to make Yeong feel like he’s ruined Gyu-ho’s future for just being with him.
Tumblr media
Conversely, it’s so frustrating to watch Gyu-ho from this perspective doing everything he can to make Yeong feel loved and valued. I felt so much for Gyu-ho when he got a solid job as a nurse and wanted them to get a bigger place together. I also felt for Gyu-ho searching for potential new partners on the apps. It sucked in the book and it sucks here when Yeong tries to shove Gyu-ho to go have sex with someone else when that’s not what Gyu-ho wants at all; he’s a romantic.
Tumblr media
As such, they could not make this relationship work. Gyu-ho is probably the one person in the series we’ve seen Yeong trust to the most. The T-aras prickled his shame. Mi Ae outed him. Yeong Su turned out to be gross. Nam Gyu died.  I believe Yeong when he said he was writing as hard as he could to build a future where he was independently wealthy enough to take care of himself and Gyu-ho, and it was so sad to see him completely lose the love he found in the present for that.
Onto the Finale
Tumblr media
That’s all I’ve got this week. I find myself looking forward to this section because I’m so excited to see what Habibi turns into with this version. I’ve meditated on the fallout of the Gyu-ho breakup, and I’m excited to see what the drama does with that.

DaiShun reminds me a lot of Junseongho. Let me explain,
Junseong from the first day knew he wanted Seongho and went for it the entire show. Dai from day 1 knew he liked Shun and went for it.
Junseong had a date with someone else and spent the entire date with Seongho in mind even bringing things back for him specifically. Dai went on a date with someone else to make Shun jealous and as fun as the date was, he was paying attention to Shun to see his reaction.
Seongho was not very interested in Junseong at first (at least not the way he was with Seonwoo), he saw him as just a friend and wasn't giving him a proper chance till later. Shun was a little bit interested but ultimately wasn't making life easy for Dai.
Both couples kissed on the show( don't argue with me and I'm for sure not referring to Junseongho's final day peck)
The audience's reaction to both couples is so similar if not the same.
Hopefully, DaiShun get to be together outside the show like Junseongho.

I strongly suggest watching ‘She Makes My Heart Flutter’ on Youtube. It’s beautiful to see new series coming out that don’t just have 1 or 2 lesbian/sapphic characters or just 1 couple, we deserve more than that. We can see not just love being portrayed, but friendship and strong bonds being built between people in the community. I love it and I believe this is only the beginning. Please watch and support both 🥰

My Honest Opinion:
I swear this series is one of the most underrated BL series of all times. Like why doesn't anyone talk about this series? When I first watched it, I felt like this series needed more recognition and I still believe the same.
Tumblr media
The storyline is rather easy to understand and that is exactly what I love about this series.
Tumblr media
I personally love this series and highly recommend watching it.

Thinking about how the title "Love For Love's Sake" feels like it's begging Myungha to learn how to love and be loved.
Like it's shaking Myungha's shoulders and telling him to go out there into the world and love as much as he can cause he's worth it and deserving.

The Eighth Sense Eps 9 & 10 (Finale) Stray Thoughts
So we’ve come to the end of the road with this show. I’m sure, like I Told Sunset About You and I Promised You The Moon, this one will stick with me. It’s been a fun ride, and I’ve enjoyed meeting new people because of it.
Last time, we processed the aftermath of Ji Hyun’s near-death experience on the ill-advised surfing trip. The seniors from the surfing club were absolutely horrible about it, and were completely insensitive. Jae Won has retreated completely within himself and is barely interacting with anyone, except to beat Tae-hyung’s ass for talking shit about Ji Hyun.
Meanwhile, Ji Hyun is absolutely radiant after recovering and is in his confident era. He’s handing out L’s left and right. No one is safe! Jae Won has been avoiding Ji Hyun, but Ji Hyun came through for him in the disciplinary hearing and handed Tae-hyung yet another petty defeat. Ji Hyun then forced Jae Won to talk to him, only for Jae Won to disappoint all of us for trying to shove Ji Hyun away.
Episode 9
I am glad this therapist is being direct with Jae Won. I don’t know if that’s proper or not, but he needs to have his head yanked out of his ass on this.
I’m glad Ji Hyun has friends to talk with. They’re also forcing him to see beyond himself and interrogate why Jae Won is being so weird. They even came up with a plan of action!
For Yoon Won’s sake, I hope they manage to save the surf club.
Jae Won’s tired eyes are making me feel exhausted too. I love Ji Hyun’s determination to comfort, even if Jae Won instinctively pulls back at first.
I get Yoon Won trying to save the surfing club as something she can accomplish. Unfortunately, Ji Hyun and Jae Won are not going to out themselves to the university. Still, I’m glad Jae Won isn’t so out of it that he can’t comfort this friend.
Eun Ji declared war on Ji Hyun and came to win. Making out with Jae Won in front of Ji Hyun is a bold strategy. Let’s see how it pays off for her.
I’m deeming Eun Ji only partially successful. She may have driven a wedge further between our leads, but she did not succeed at getting Jae Won in bed. Jae Won sent her home so he could yearn outside of the bar Ji Hyun works at. A victory for the homos.
I am back to being a Joon Pyo fan. He’s been working overtime to keep Ji Hyun’s life intact and is still out here locating secret Instagram accounts.
I liked the time passage montage of Jae Won at school, though I don’t know why he’s showing more signs of life.
The camera gift along with the sketch was so touching.
Eun Ji is a liar who lies, and I’m proud of Jae Won for crushing her.
I love the Boss. Jae Won needs a firm kick to get out of his own head sometimes, and I love her straightforward nature.
I’m so glad a radio song request gets to play a role in this story. Hilariously, they chose Conan Gray’s “The Story,” which, I am too polite on Tumblr to elaborate on further.
This isn’t a Japanese BL, so Jae Won isn’t going to run across the city, but we know where he’s going.
Okay! They just went for it with that kiss! Love the enthusiasm, boys!
Episode 10 (Finale)
I always lose it a little bit for yin and yang imagery with the boys. So glad these two finally spent a comfortable night together.
Of course Jae Won left without a message and has his phone off.
Oh good, he was just with Joon Pyo. We should definitely take Joon Pyo out clubbing. He’s done enough for us at this point.
Oh, the classic tropes! Love when the older boy puts his jacket on the love interest.
I’m happy, too! This is the final episode and we’ve been in angst for three previous ones! We are going to make it clear! We are dating! This is new!
Great, the phone is ringing. Time to spoil the moment.
Whew, never mind. Yoon Won might be getting a job and the surfing club is active again.
I love gay people. “Admit you joined the surf club for me.” “Oh yeah? Admit you had a lighter the whole time.”
Ae Ri. She gets a plate.
Whyy are Eun Ji and Tae Hyung at this party??
Male friendships are so embarrassing sometimes. Petty threats into stilted apologies into something strangely earnest. Men were definitely involved in the writing of this project.
I’m glad Ae Ri will keep teasing Ji Hyun.
Bit Na handed Tae Hyung one more loss before the end. Good.
That’s right Yoon Won. Jae Won needs to know his true friends support his love life.
We chatted a bit about the forgiveness in the clown server, and I will say that I dont mind Jae Won forgiving Tae Hyung and Eun Ji. It provides closure for all of them, and he can focus on the people that matter in his life now. Besides, celebrations are a chance to let go of things.
GOOD FOR YOON WON AND JOON PYO! GET. IT. IN.
I do like them having the question about who knows and who is allowed to know.
TIME FOR JI HYUN TO GLOAT TO EUN JI!
Look at Eun Ji also trying to be a proper senior for once. I still think she should apologize to Ae Ri, but we can’t get everything.
“Don’t just treat me as cute. You don’t know what’s coming.” YES INDEED, BABY BOY!!
Final Verdict: 9.5, Highly Recommended. This was a fantastic collaboration between a German director and Korean director. I think everyone gives incredibly accessible performances that convey the complex ideas within the story. Much is allowed to be shown rather than said, and conversations unfold naturally. I also think this show captured the experience gap between graduating seniors and freshmen really well. This show brought out a lot of familiar feelings for me in a gentle way. I think it’s one of the best things I’ve seen this year.
