NO MORE Normani vs Camila

There is currently a narrative being pushed pitting Normani and Camila against each other. Instead of supporting both women, fans have started attacking each other when we should be celebrating that minority women are killing the game in a white male-centric industry. Normani just released a killer video to start her new era and Camila is rising on the charts with her new collab with Shawn Mendes.

Part of this narrative is being pushed because some people are claiming Camila was racist because of some images that supposedly leaked from her account. SHE IS NOT. Those images have since been proven/admitted to be fake.

In 2015, images emerged of Camila supposedly using the n word on her facebook in 2012, however those were photoshopped by a fan who copped to it on twitter. Camila’s FB page wasn’t even under Camila at the time, 5H was just starting and her account was still under Karla (her actual first name).

A video also went around of “leaked messages” between Camila and a friend of hers apparently attacking her band members. However, a fan again came out and admitted to faking the video saying he wanted to mess with fans of Camila.

When fans were attacking Normani during 5H days, Camila tweeted out that she would not tolerate any discrimination or racism towards anyone. 

Additionally, I don’t believe that you can call someone a racist based on the behavior of their “fans”, especially if they have condemned that behavior. Celebrities do not control their fans.

Why can’t we simply stan both women instead of pushing a false narrative that they are out to get each other? Let’s push for ALL of our former 5H girls to succeed.

The music industry allows room for more than one person to succeed. Neither’s success takes anything away from the other.

We should unite and fight against the real racism and white nationalism currently rising in this country instead of pitting two young minority women against each other
