watching and reading a lot of horror and dark comedy as a child, being raised on folk music and folk festivals, and living in lots of different parts of the UK. I've lived in yorkshire, derbyshire, lancashire, wales and now scotland, and many places within those places.

this is a hard one because my favourite films aren't necessarily the ones I'd watch over and over again! I think probably... tlog apocalypse, withnail and I, and st trinians.

I got this new journal off paper kooka in a B5 instead of my usual A5 and I think the size works a lot better for me.

I've finally got it all set up for the new year and January - this month's theme is Stardew Valley because I've been playing it a lot lately!

And I've set up a new reading log - my reading goal this year is 30 books!

I much prefer the size of this to the A5 ones I usually get, it's perfect for me! This one has 160gsm paper too - I haven't noticed any ink bleeding so far. It doesn't have an index like the leuchtturm but I don't mind because I think I prefer using tabs anyway.

Key Points grey highlighter

I've wanted a grey highlighter for ages, it matches with my pastels nicely. The shape of the tip is a bit different, you've got to hold it just right or it doesn't quite work properly but it's a decently cheap option.

Paw print paper cutter

I wish I'd bought one of these ages ago, it's so much more practical especially for things like Dutch door layouts and this one was too cute to pass up, and nice to hold.

Memo Me sticky memos

The colours are nice but I do wish they'd had an option for a range of different pastels instead of just single colour gradients. Also I'm not entirely sure it's sticky enough to hold up so we'll see how long they last.

Butterfly Deco stickers

I wanted these for those kind of vintage stamp type aesthetics. They're a bit transparent but I like them!

Perfume bottle sticker pack

Ok these are really cute but I haven't entirely decided how to use them yet. They'll definitely need a background because they're white so they're not really visible just on the paper.

Precise 0.2mm fineliner

I use a fountain pen for all my normal writing but it just doesn't work with a highlighter so this is great for writing calendar dates and other things that I know are likely to get highlighted later on. Plus the nib size is perfect for my tiny handwriting.

I adore birds and my last pet was a beautiful cockatiel baby so whenever I see anything with a tiel on it I simply MUST buy it. This one is so so cute!

I mostly got these to clearly separate my bujo into months and find my place more easily. It seems like they're going to hold up well, I wish they came in pastels though!

I picked this up because I wanted to rate the books I read in the reading log in my bujo and it's the easiest way to do the star ratings. I love these little stamps, I've had the little birthday cake one for ages to show birthdays on the calendar pages.

Me and @micromys but just with an obnoxious kookaburra call.

For reasons known only to adolescent girls my friend Kate and I started communicating with extremely loud calls of, “Ka-kaw!” at some point during high school.

When trying to locate each other on the quad in lieu of cell phones we made do with good old fashioned screeching. The first call was always a lower tone. When one of us heard the cry we’d immediately echo it back at a higher pitch like dinosaurs playing Marco Polo.

This was probably obnoxious for all our classmates but man did we zero in on each other right quick. It was great. I never had to look for her in a huge crowd I just had to unleash my lack of social decorum in sonic waves. My only defense was that we only used it for out of doors. We weren’t monsters.

It served us extremely well the one time we went skiing together. She was a newer skier and got off the ski lift before I did after a stroke of bad luck and poor planning on our parts. By the time I had my skis on the snow I couldn’t see her. Worried, I took off down the mountain, not spotting her.

I planted my skis when I realized I must have passed her somehow. She couldn’t have made the same time as me. I threw my head back and shrieked, “Ka-kaw!!”

The sound cut across the cold thin air, sharp and carrying. To my delight and the surprise of several snowboarders going past me there was an answering “Ka-kaw!!!” from further up the mountain, reverberating joyously.

I’ve had this turkey post pinged several times, I can only say that I’m glad my friend and I aren’t the only bird girls out there.

New opinion- instead of Scout being called Roo, he should be called anything thats shorthand for kookaburra, bc he's loud and annoying and you can tell when any kind of noise is made by him specifically by how annoying the noise is

..... also, Kooka sounds cute and lowkey like a jab if you're not in the know like he and Sniper are :]

That's so wild in your tags about the kookaburra in California, I've never really thought about the possibility of them being an exotic pet. Normally Aussie parrots and finches are what people are keen on.

And yeah, I love the kookaburras. They all collect in my street in the late afternoon and laugh together as the sun goes down.
