Today you can watch the tenth and probably the last episode of the dorama(Warau Matryoshka" ("Laughing Matryoshka") at 22.00 p.m. on japanese time and at 15.00. p.m. on european time on "TBS".
Once again, Michiue (Asami Mizukawa) meets Hiroko (Saki Takaoka) in Ainan City, Ehime Prefecture, and the latter recounts the events of her past-from being born to a Chinese mother and meeting Wadajima (Masaya Kato) to the birth of Seike (Sakurai Sho) and becoming a politician. However, he can't hear anything important, such as whether Hanussen, who is backed by Kiyoi's family, is really Hiroko, or the connection between Hiroko and the BG stock incident...
Furthermore, Hiroko claims that she wasn't the one who sent Hanussen's dissertation written by Seike, Suzuki (Tetsuji Tamayama), which creates a new mystery. So who sent this dissertation? To find answers, Michiue visits Hiroko's current husband, Komatsu (Masami Horiuchi), who turns his suspicions on a certain person.
Meanwhile, Seike begins to make unprecedented actions and pronouncements for a chief cabinet secretary, such as proposing a constitutional amendment to introduce a ‘system of public election of the prime minister...

Tokihiko Okada in The Lady and the Beard (Yasujiro Ozu, 1931)
Cast: Tokihiko Okada. Hiroko Kawasaki, Satoko Date, Choko Iida, Ichiro Tsukida, Toshiko Iizuka, Mitsuko Yoshikawa, Tatsuo Saito, Takeshi Sakamoto, Sotaro Okada, Yasuo Nanjo, Ayako Katsuragi. Screenplay: Komatsu Kitamur, Yasujiro Ozu. Cinematography: Minoru Kuribayashi, Hideo Shigehara. Film editing: Minoru Kuribayaski, Hideo Shigehara.
The Lady and the Beard is one of Yasujiro Ozu's silent comedies that, like I Graduated, But... (1929), I Flunked, But ... (1930), and Where Now Are the Dreams of Youth? (1932), center on college students and their postgraduate life. The protagonist, Kiichi (Tokhiko Okada), affects a full beard and old-fashioned dress, which his fellow students tolerate laughingly, but which opens him to mockery when he goes home with a friend who invites him to his sister's birthday party. The young women at the party shun him. Worse, when he graduates, he discovers that the beard is an obstacle to getting a job. So he shaves it off, and suddenly finds that he's not only employable but also a magnet to marriageable young women. He rescues Hiroko (Hiroko Kawasaki) from being mugged by Furyo (Satoko Date) and her thuggish companions, and winds up attracting the attention of both women. Later, he encounters Furyo again at the hotel where he works: He thwarts her in a con job involving a piece of jewelry, but that doesn't deter her interest in him. It's a likable little comedy with an endearing performance by Okada. I occasionally had trouble following some of the narrative, whether because of cultural differences or missing footage -- the print shows signs of damage. As often with Ozu's early films, he shows his inspiration in the form of movie posters on the characters' walls: Kiichi's room has a poster of a Laurel and Hardy movie. Ozu credits himself, under his pseudonym James Maki, as the film's gag writer.

To better embrace his new role, Shirasaki goes to a gay bar to find someone to sleep with for the experience. There, he runs into Hayama. How will Shirasaki react when Asami offers him his body? (futekiya)
Review Proper
I admittedly didn’t have a lot of expectations for this. I thought that this was going to turn out like Dakaretai Otoko Ichii at worst and Romance with Etude at best, but yo, THIS IS THE FUCKING BEST ACTORS BL I HAVE EVER READ/LISTENED TO IN MY LIFE. It was so good that I stopped typing after that last sentence and re-read/listened to the whole thing. The art was so sensual, you guys.
I MEAN-
Tumblr media
THE SENSUALITY SENSUALISM SENSUALIZATION???
I’m not going to be talking more of the plot here because there’s actually nothing that unique about it and there aren’t any major conflicts here (which is a good thing!). It’s also pretty straightforward and is more of a when they than a will they. The execution on this tho was flawless. These dorks aren’t one dimensional at all and I’m especially glad at how they were able to portray Asami-san as more than his cool persona. 👌
ANYWAY, MOVING ON TO THE FUCKING VOICE ACTING—
I just came from listening to that devastating Ono Yuuki waterfall of sex that was Love Hole 303, so I was definitely not ready for SatoTaku’s 24/7 bedroom voice shop! Y’ALL I FEEL VIOLATED. THIS WAS MORE INTENSE THAN HIS ALKIL SEND HELP. If I’m more Okitsu and Saitou Souma trash in BLCDs, pls know that I’m mega Nakamo, SatoTaku, Makonyan, and Katou Masayuki trash in R18 Otome CDs. That being said, I have never heard this SatoTaku voice in a BLCD before. I mean, Alkil was definitely almost at this level, but to be in a bedroom voice throughout the whole CD is definitely more of an R18 Otome CD thing. HOW DARE YOU BRING THAT KIND OF WEAPON IN THE BLCD INDUSTRY WORLD, SIR. Y’ALL YOU GOTTA LISTEN TO THAT BIT WHERE HE CAME CHASING AFTER SHIRASAKI-KUN’S ASS AND SAID: IRETE KUNNAI (let me in)???
Tumblr media
IRETE KUNNAI WHERE, SIR???
Wasn’t this the guy who voiced that clueless bloke in Koi o Suru Tsumori Nakatta??? You know who he sounds like here? Fucking Midorin. This isn’t what I signed up for. 😩 This is (sorry Alkil) the best I’ve ever heard SatoTaku as a top. And I know I say this every time I listen to a new CD of actor so and so, but istg, this will be my favorite of his for a long long time.
As for Saitou Souma—wait, I’m literally exhausted reliving the memory while typing this out gimme a few seconds. Anyway, Saitou Souma slayed yet again—no surprise there. I do gotta say that the tone he used here was so similar to Maufuyu’s that I was hearing Mafuyu so clearly in the first few minutes of the track. The plot’s also a little reminiscent of Given because here we have another rookie and a seasoned talent as leads. I’m even 100% sure that Saitou Souma was chosen for this role because of his Mafuyu. BUT THAT ISN’T EXACTLY A BAD THING! Also, like I don’t already praise SS enough, this man was so good at acting bad that I’m just
Tumblr media
WHY DO YOU ALWAYS NEED TO BE THIS GOOD, HUH?! YOU REALLY BE OUT HERE STEALING WEAVES, HUH?! ALSO, HAPPY BELATED 30TH BIRTHDAY, YOU TALENTED BASTARD.
Like what went down with Kurowashi 2, my time listening to this was pandemonium. I gotta stop listening to SatoTaku works in the middle of the night because I tend to drool and choke on my retainers. IT WAS THAT GOOD, FOLKS. READ/LISTEN TO THIS RIGHT NOW AND DO SOME SPLITS WITH ME. There are rearranged dialogues and adlibs here and there, but they aren’t really that major. I guess, the only issue I have with this is the fucking recycled bgm. 😂 I’ve heard these bgms specifically in Kimitte Yatsu wa and Koi o Suru Tsumori wa Nakatta, but I’m sure that they’ve been used in a lot more CDs than I can remember. I mean, they’re using the same sound staff and all, but it wouldn’t hurt to be more creative sometimes, right? Anyway, other than that, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THE MANGA AND BLCD. I NEED THE SEQUELS TO BE ADAPTED TOO OR I WILL LITERALLY WILT. 😭😭😭 futekiya! has licensed this, so it even has a well-deserved official English translation. I love how these past two BLCDs are low-key about the bottoms wanting the D and the top always having blue balls lmao. This makes me fear the outcome of the next BLCD tho because we can’t have all the luck in the world

Hiroko Moriguchi Sings "Mobile Suit Gundam III" Film Insert Song "Beginning" with Gospel Chorus Group
Following the Jazz-arranged "Tobe! Gundam" (TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam OP theme), the official YouTube channel for singer Hiroko Moriguchi has posted a music video for "Beginning" (Anime film Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space insert song) from her new album "GUNDAM SONG COVERS 3." The song was originally composed/sung by the late Daisuke Inoue, who also provided the film's iconic theme song "Meguriai."
With the concept of "Gundam Song Cover Album for Adults", the first album "GUNDAM SONG COVERS" was released in 2019, then reached No.3 in Oricon's weekly album chart and even won the Japan Record Awards' Planning Award that year. Then the second album "GUNDAM SONG COVERS 2" followed in 2020, ranking No. 2 in the Oricon album chart. The total sales of the two albums have exceeded 200,000 copies.
The third and final album of the Gundam cover song series, "GUNDAM SONG COVERS 3" is set to be released on March 9, 2022. The album consists of a selection of male vocal songs from many Gundam songs.
The Voices of Japan (VOJA), a chorus group founded by gospel singer Tomoka Kamebuchi, performed with Moriguchi to create this magnificent cover version of "Beginning." The music video shows off a beautiful image of Moriguchi singing with the VOJA members in a mysterious space with images of space and the ocean floor.

Matt Alt, co-author of Yokai Attack: the Japanese Monster Survival Guide, Japandemonium Illustrated: the Yokai Encyclopedias of Toriyama Sekien, posted this announcement on the Yokai Attack Facebook group:
Big news: there's a new yokai book available in English. "An Introduction to Yokai Culture" by Professor Kazuhiko Komatsu of the International Research Center for Japanese Studies. Hiroko and I translated, with editing by Matt Treyvaud - the same trio who brought you "Japandemonium Illustrated" (and in fact the two projects overlapped to some degree.) "An Introduction to Yokai Culture" is not a cheap book -- I hear the list price is $39 -- but it's also an important one for several reasons. For one thing, it is the first college-level text on yokai studies by a Japanese professor available in English. And for another, it goes into great detail on many yokai-related topics that haven't yet received a lot of attention abroad, such as ijin (outsiders) and tsukimono (animal-spirit possessions). It is a roadmap for how folklore studies developed in Japan, and a key work for anyone truly interested in taking their study of yokai to the next level. At the moment it seems to only be available through Kinokuniya (a friend spotted a stack at their San Francisco branch), but it should be available through other channels soon. I just wanted to post for those interested enough to call over for an early copy. http://www.jpic.or.jp/japanlibrary/en/books/001813.html

There’s a new English translation of a yokai book written by renowned Japanese folklorist Professor Kazuhiko Komatsu. I’ll make a proper post for @jigokuyeah with more info later if I can. Right now I’m too tired to think. For now you can just click these links to learn more.

Basically, it’s something like that.
The timestamps are from the comments. I’m going to add their names and some comments from me in (if I feel like they’re needed) at the bottom. Keep in mind, there is usually a lot of vocal editing for talent shows, and I’m not a singer myself and can only guess about the vocal techniques and difficulty.
Hosted by Junichi Suwabe and Kana Ueda!
1. 16:30「God knows…」平野綾 (Aya Hirano) 2. 21:10「銀河鉄道999」武内駿輔 (Shunsuke Takeuchi) 3. 33:10「昭和ブルース」大塚明夫 (Akio Ootsuka) 4. 36:30「手のひらの宇宙」岩男潤子 (Junko Iwao) 5. 52:05「愛としか呼べない」堀内賢雄 (Kenyu Horiuchi) 6. 56:08「Shooting Star」井上喜久子 (Kikuko Inoue) 7. 63:25「水中飛行論における多角的アプローチ」平川大輔 (Daisuke Hirakawa) 8. 67:50「ブルーバード」井上ほの花  (Honoka Inoue) 9. 84:25「チャンピオン」大塚明夫、黒田崇矢 (Akio Ootsuka and Takaya Kuroda) 10. 90:50「トップをねらえ!~Fly High~」日高のり子、中川翔子 (Noriko Hidaka and Shoko Nakagawa) 11. 99:03「創聖のアクエリオン」岩男潤子、平野綾 (Junko Iwao and Aya Hirano) 12. 112:00「桜」井上和彦、内田直哉、堀内賢雄 (Kazuhiko Inoue, Naoya Uchida, Kenyu Horiuchi) 13. 125:10「コンディション・グリーン~緊急発進~」笠原弘子 (Hiroko Kasahara) 14. 129:06「必ず景色は変わる」黒田崇矢 (Takaya Kuroda) 15. 136:15「ゲキテイ(檄!帝国華撃団)」横山智佐 (Chisa Yokoyama) 16. 139:46「戦闘男児~鍛えよ勝つために~」関智一、秋元羊介 (Tomokazu Seki and Yousuke Akimoto) 17. 152:58「Maybe the next waltz」小松未可子 (Mikako Komatsu) 18. 157:26「Day you laugh」豊永利行 (Toshiyuki Toyonaga) 19. 165:40「空色デイズ」中川翔子 (Shoko Nakagawa) 20. 169:55「ああ電子戦隊デンジマン」内田直哉 (Naoya Uchida) 21. 185:21「ハート ないしょ/2」日高のり子 (Noriko Hidaka) 22. 189:14「誰がために」井上和彦 (Kazuhiko Inoue) 23. 206:08「GO!!!」全員歌唱 (Everyone)
I just underlined by favourites
Aya Hirano’s still got it! After 13 years, she’s still got it!
Shunsuke Takeuchi, Akio Ootsuka, and Junko Iwao’s performances weren’t bad. Akio was kind of surprising. The same goes for Kenyu Horiuchi. Seriously, I know both for playing those really ominous characters.
It’s a running joke amongst fans and the fandom that Kikuko Inoue is forever 17 (she’s 54 years old?!?!?!) She’s the mother of Honoka Inoue.
I didn’t enjoy Daisuke Hirakawa’s performance partially because I didn’t watch Free and partially because I have eardrums and a clear conscience (okay, that was a little overly harsh. Really, it just didn’t stack up compared other performances).
Honoka Inoue was good considering I know the original so much (and like it a lot). Her mom Kikuko Inoue even joined her on stage! Considering that this song has a lot of difficulties as well, they did a good job! (Even though it was a little rough)
Nothing stuck out so I just skipped to Mikako Komatsu because I love that song. Of course, I knew it would turn out this way. This song takes a lot of air to get to that range, and at speed with little rests, it’s hard. For that reason, I was impressed even if it was rough compared to the studio version.
Toshiyuki Toyonaga did so well!!! One of the best that I’ve seen in this video!!! He owned the stage, performed well, and was fun to watch!
I don’t mean to be harsh, but I was expecting better out of Kakashi-- I mean Kazuhiko Inoue.
That final song was so much fun! Dude, that’s one of the most iconic theme songs for Naruto for me.
